Oh JKS a big hug for you. It is quite a milestone. You have given Henry something so precious

Can you express just enough to relieve engorgement?

Nathan's last feed will be on the day my parent's go back (the 20th), planning to drop the morning feed in the next week or so. Have become intolerant of messing about though, so he is awake in bed atm, because he kept on taking threesucks, then playing with his hands, looking around etc so I concluded that he is clearly not that bothered. Gonna be interesting.

JKS and MM - I hope this milestone isn't too upsetting for you both. Am in awe of you coping till 12 months am still slightly sad that i couldn't carry on past 5..... still if I had all the help I needed I'd like to think that id have carried on with you both.

I hope your pain eases soon JKS.

madmouse · 04/01/2009 20:43

Lucky, you and Aaliyah are more than welcome to eat ham here , bit of a trek...

Do you like fish? I made Jamie Oliver's incredibly easy fish pie recipe (no white sauce, grated vegetables straight into the dish etc) and Nathan loved it as much as we did, he ate it as was, straight from the pot. Can mail you the recipe and if you want to can amed it for four adults and four kids.

LuckySalem · 04/01/2009 20:44

I'm not a huge fan of fish tbh but it's something I'd like to try.

JustKeepSwimming · 04/01/2009 20:45

I know it's been good to get this far and i can't wait to be able to be free - have already booked the PIL for a few days in Feb so we can go away

but....there's still a but as now it's over i miss it already !
silly.
i'll be fine, though if he is/was my last DC i would prob have a cry!
Will just have to have baby no 3 and start all over again! then i'll moan about not being able to get away, lol.

lucky - i am the world's crappest cook, so well done you!
I always go for easy fish fingers, etc. when having little friends round.

right, off to take a paracetemol (sp?) and go to bed with a book.
DH has lots of work to do so will leave him to it.

holiday tomorrow, yey!!!

LuckySalem · 04/01/2009 20:47

I'm actually thinking of making a big spag bol (i'm good at that) and then they can help themselves out of a big bowl and anything thats left I can make into a cottage pie for me and DD.

Lilyloo · 04/01/2009 20:47

Evening all

Gingeme wow some great bargains there! DD got the mobile for xmas and liked it but we seem to have lost it when we went away

MM when is the baptism ??

Housemum lol at Amelie party passing her by. Did you do the balloons ??

Lucky great news about your friend and well done on your cooking attempts!

JKS we are slowly swapping feeds for bottled milk now in hope i won't get too engorged if i slowly decrease feeds. Think i will feel really sentimental when it happens though so well done!!

Simpson about the eggs at least you recognise the signs straight away now i guess. Glad you got the hoover sorted that is one thing i couldn't live without!!

So is it George then Ediz birthday next ??

Sorted out dd1 party at local farm on 17th think may just take cake there for Martha too. Think it will be joint parties in the future! No idea where we ae going to put more toys though

Got letter offering us £30 compensation for every 24 hours we were without gas too. Think it cost me that to run the 2 electric heaters we had!

Well dp are at garage again tom no idea what that going to cost and he is preparing for a show down over his promotion (or lack of) so should be an eventful day tom!
DS back at schhol though.

Lilyloo · 04/01/2009 20:49

Have lovely time at Centerparcs JKS

madmouse · 04/01/2009 21:02

JKS take ibuprofen if you have any, better for sore boobs due to being anti-inflammatory

Lily, baptism is two weeks today! Eek lots to do.
Parents coming the Friday before. Stepmum will be a great help.

Lily, there is a difference between expenses and compensation. the compensation is for the inconvenience, you are totally free to send them a bill for extra electricity, ruined turkey etc.

simpson · 04/01/2009 21:14

JKS - Have a great time!! Am very

Lilyloo - Welcome back

DS doesn't go back to pre school till Tuesday.

simpson · 04/01/2009 21:15

Just wondering if I could make a cake with rice milk

Housemum · 04/01/2009 21:21

Lily - party was good, she didn't cry which was a bonus! I didn't get to the party shop on time on Sat to get a helium balloon but might get one in the week from Asda as they're cheaper anyway (our local branch has some at £2.99 that they inflate at the kiosk)

Big hit present was a set of stacking boxes - she is obsessed with sticking things inside other things. Someone bought a Night Garden roundabout shape sorter which was good as the shapes slip in easily - her other one is a snug fit.

Big celebration for one of her friends at the party - M who is 15 months took her first steps!

Lily - have you got accidental damage cover on your insurance and if so does it cover any ruined freezer food etc? Our fuse box tripped when we were away once and insurance covered all except excess (great as a lot of the stuff was Sainsbo reduced stuff but obviously you claim per item cost to replace so that pretty much covered the excess)

Cooking - I'm beginning to learn the art of cooking in advance! Soup, lasagne, spag bol sauce - all as good if not better reheated so cook when Amelie has sleep then heat up for dinner - avoids evening stress! Have done 2 dinner parties like this too - Nigella curry for one and Nigella Greek stew for another - meant I could concentrate on the day on maKING THE HOUSE AND MYSELF PRESENTABLE! Bugger, caps lock, can't be arsed to retype as typing one handed (grumpy teething baby on shoulder starting to doze off)

LuckySalem · 04/01/2009 21:21

Simps try either looking up a recipe online or the people in the food part of MN are really good?

madmouse · 04/01/2009 21:23

i tried making custard with it, it curdles like mad so i am not sur that would work.

you should be able to make an eggless sponge with vegetable shortening

lets have a look

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 04/01/2009 21:25

Oh quick question while your online ladies.

DP keeps ignoring his alarm so while i'm having quiet MN time and it gets to 9:45pm (meant to be in work at 10) I have to go upstairs and wake him up. Do you think IBU if I ignored him tonight and let him be late so he learns not to expect me to be his safety net?

simpson · 04/01/2009 21:26

Lucky - found a dairy & egg free cake on google Might have to make that for her!!

I also want to make her rice pudding (just wondering if I can freeze it) as all she has for pudding is fruit really and it can make her bum sore.

Housemum - Glad Amelie had a fab day

I generally make 2 teas in the eve for the Dcs and do it when DD has her afternoon nap. Molly very vocal about wanting tea when she wakes up

madmouse · 04/01/2009 21:28

this?

it is a recipe from the wife of that Italian chef, their dd has severe allergies.

OP posts:
simpson · 04/01/2009 21:29

Lucky - it depends on how he is when you wake him up.

If he is all groggy and still doesn't get up (ie saying 5 more mins etc) then I would leave him.

DH used to be terrible getting up for his early sgifts and used to rely on me to get him up (at 3am!!) so I stopped doing it...he was late and he never asked again!!

LuckySalem · 04/01/2009 21:31

well the thing is he sets like 5 alarms and keeps turning them off to give himself just that little bit longer. Including a LOUD one on the radio that sometimes wakes DD. He turns it off then gets back into bed (sometimes I must add)

I dont need to wrry about it tonight cos I've just heard him get up but wondering for the future now.

madmouse · 04/01/2009 21:31

Lucky best tell him tomorrow 'I am not going to wake you tonight. I know you are lying in on purpose and I am fed up having to get up and fetch you when I am having some rare time off

then stick to it.

doing it tonight will just lead to a huge row.

OP posts:
simpson · 04/01/2009 21:32

Oh Madmouse - cheers Have bookmarked that one too!!

Bless her, I know DD would love cake if she was allowed to eat it unlike DS who is not that fussed.

LuckySalem · 04/01/2009 21:33

I've told him hundreds of times when I've gone up at 9:45 and told him this is the last time then he does it again but I dont want to cut my nose to spite my face if you know what I mean. Hes the only earner.

simpson · 04/01/2009 21:36

Lucky - he won't lose his job or anything by being late once.

If you were going in and waking him up and he was getting up and saying thanks etc then I would continue but if he is going back to bed for a few more mins again afterwards then I think you need to stop.

LuckySalem · 04/01/2009 21:38

Yeh see thats what I thought. Wake up hunny its 9:30 and your gonna have to rush if you dont get up now. Ok thanks..... - Woud keep doing but

Wake up hunny its 9:30 etc etc, yeh ok and stay in bed ---- lol

simpson · 04/01/2009 21:40

Especially if his alarms are waking Aaliyah then you have to sort her out.
