Hi everyone, haven't really managed to catch up with all the news but happy new year and I hope all the lo's are behaving.

So relieved for your friend Lucky, you read about these things but never think it will happen to you (or anyone close to you). I guess it shows you can't be too careful - we had Frankie in the walk in centre on Boxing Day and I felt a right fool when the doc said there was nothing wrong with her but then again I'm glad I went just for the peace of mind.

Nothing much to report here, I have another week off work/working from home and then will presumably find out if I still have a job. After nearly two weeks of family staying with us I finally have a spare 5 mins to myself as DH has just taken his mum to the airport. DD has gone along for the ride, or the sleep to be more precise.

Anyway, hope you're all managing to stay warm!

Housemum · 06/01/2009 12:05

V quick post as DH working from home so hogging the office! Good website for editing photos is www.picnik.com/app#/home/welcome I've just done Amelie's thank-you notes (have posted one on my profile) by adding text to a photo and getting them printed at Asda - 12 pictures cost me £2.16 (and saved me writing 12 notes on her behalf!)

Lilyloo · 06/01/2009 13:54

lily - dont give milk in the night just another thing to get them off of as long as they are eating enough in the day solid then that is their real food now and the milk is comfort as much as food. stay strong.

JustKeepSwimming · 06/01/2009 14:51

I'm here

At Center Parcs on the WiFi which isn't v reliable so quick post.

what are the age gaps going to be in those that pg again?
My gap was 20 months, has pros and cons.

Lots of lovely snow to look at here, but jolly cold. Takes ages to get out with putting layers, then peeling off when you get indoors again.

DH till suffering with cold and keeping me up at night, so he ended up on the sofa last night.
I'm on the ibuprofen big time as boobs still v sore.
I though my supply had dropped lots but obv not

best go in case connection drops.

madmouse · 06/01/2009 15:13

well Nathan was awake at 11pm needed some help pushing out a very large poo, then squeaked a few times between 3 and 4, I think he was checking I was still there after my day at work . then slept until 8 . I guess that is definitely the end for night and morning bf. I already much to my surprise miss the snuggles, so feel the need to grab him occasionally for a good cuddle.

Finally managed to get dh to come with us to soft play, my two men had such fun together

AND NATHAN TOOK HIS FIRST STEPS HOLDING DADDY'S HANDS [GRIN]!!

he is sleeping now, physio due at 4pm

LaT be strong it will pass...

Who was asking for JKS? she's at centreparcs

Oh MM - That is BRILLIANT NEWS

simpson · 06/01/2009 16:57

Hi all

Fantastic news Madmouse

Hospital wasn't too bad...

Saw a different pead who was happy enough for DD to stay on neocate for at least the next 6mths

I have to try DD with some egg before next appt on 12th Feb...

Also had total panic as I couldn't find her red book anywhere...but I have left it at the hosp so will have to go and get it tomorrow.

Only thing pead is concerned about is DD is not really bearing weight on her legs even with my help...

But her pincer grip is now good (due to all the blueberries she stuffs herself with!!)

LuckySalem · 06/01/2009 17:01

Glad pead was better this time.
Good news about the pincer grip. Have they given you any ideas on how to help her with her weight bearing?

Am currently trying to work out what I need to plan for a wedding - DD sleeping so have time, feel dumb as hell (started a thread as I have NO idea what is needed) lol

simpson · 06/01/2009 17:07

Forgot to say the pead wanted a breakdown of what DD eats in a day and was very impressed that for the last 2 days she has eaten her dinner and then eaten the dinner that is meant for the next day as well

simpson · 06/01/2009 17:09

Lucky - no have given me idea on help re weight bearing but they said they want to review it in a month or so.

Currently DD is in her door bouncer (thought it would be good for weight bearing!!) but she has her feet off the ground and is making herself spin round and round

LuckySalem · 06/01/2009 17:12

The one thing that got DD doing it was sitting her on my leg (straddled) and putting some music on, she then bounced away on my knee (the bassier and drummier the better) it took a while for her to lift her butt off my leg but it made her start?

LaTrucha · 06/01/2009 18:42

Yay MM. Great news! But be warned - this is ALL Sabela wants to do ALL day. ANd for the last two months....

Simpson - glad about the Neocate. Well done. We do what Lucky does too. If I sit her on my oustretched leg on the floor she will catch my top and pull herself up. Its seems quite a 'low pressure' strategy.

Lily - well tooth number six has come through so it might be that. Fingers crossed for us both for tonight.

JKS - How was Centre PArks then? I've always wanted to go.

Nicky - I'm very . That's all!

Hi ROckdoctor. Glad Frankie was ok. Better to be safe than sorry.

Housemum - the thankyou looked fab. Well done you.

Sixth tooth through this evening. Here's hoping for sleep tonight.

madmouse · 06/01/2009 19:21

Simpson pleased beyond belief that the battle for neocate is over

A bit puzzled over the concern re weightbearing as she is crawling, which means she is weightbearing a lot. Besides, she is only just picking up after a miserable few months.

What does she do when you stand her on her feet? Does she flop down or pull her legs up?

Don't have much advice, as standing is something Nathan has done from when he was ridiculously young. You could try putting her fave toy on a chair and standing her in front of it. If she really refuses to stand she may dislike the feeling of her feet on the floor (that's why i asked if she flops down or pulls up). In taht case lots of playing with her feet and massage may help. But I would not be too worried to be honest.

LaT maybe you are being too obliging, refuse to help for a bit it may shift her

OP posts:
simpson · 06/01/2009 19:44

Madmouse - I was a bit about the bearing weight too especially as she is playing catch after being ill/unhappy for so long...

If I try to stand her on feet she puts legs out like she wants to sit down iyswim

JKS - glad you are having a good time

LaT - Hope you get a good nights sleep tonight!!

Nicky - How many weeks are you now?

Lucky - thats a good idea to have DD bouncing on my leg...will try it tomorrow Hope Kitty gets a home!!

Lilyloo - Naughty Martha Hope tonight is better Grrr on the car.

Rockdoctor - Glad Frankie ok...must have been a fright for you. Fingers X on job...

Housemum - love the thank you note...have been terribly bad here and not done ours yet

Mixed mama - Happy Birthday to your dad

Gingeme - Did Ds3 get to school ok?

Have to go back to hospital tomorrow to pick up red book

DS was back at pre school today and was very tired this eve so he went to bed at 6.15

madmouse · 06/01/2009 20:30

simspon, sounds fine to me re weightbearing. She still has six months left before she 'has' to walk, I am sure she will by that time.

Well the bf thing is suddenly going fast here. Down to the bedtime feed alone now, and tonight I decide to stop the feed early as it seems unfair to let him suck himself to sleep one night and suddenly stop the next. so I cuddled him, prayed as usual, then told him he is a big boy now and that he is going to bed now, one little moan and then not a peep! Looks like he is ready to stop in the next few days. I was going to give him the last evening feed after my parents left after his baptism, but now I think I will stop on Friday or Saturday. I thought this would all be so traumatic and it is not at all

OP posts:
madmouse · 06/01/2009 20:31

do excuse me, Simpson

hate misspelling people's names

OP posts:
AngeChica · 06/01/2009 20:52

Hi ladies!

Alek also walked a few steps today!!! I will tell him Madmouse . Suddenly seems to have got the urge, even though he doesn't stand alone so well.

Simpson - DS loves to stand at our coffee table, we got him one of those learning table thingies for Christmas. Might encourage DD?

Me, just awful, awful AF again. It's been 7 months since I had a coil and it's not settled. Think I'm gonna have to have it removed. DH a bit alarmed at thought of TTC again though.

simpson · 06/01/2009 21:02

Oooh another walker

Ange - thats a good idea I can encourage her to stand on the outside of her activity station and go round the outside iyswim.

TTC again...how exciting

AngeChica · 06/01/2009 21:09

i don't think we will be til the autumn. Its hard to explain but I still don't feel ready after the CS.

Gingeme · 06/01/2009 21:12

Evening ladies. I am in bad pain with tooth ache I have had sore gums on the bottom at the back for a few days so have got an appt at the dentist Fri morning. Now I know wgat out littleys are going through with their teething pains.
We went to Clown Town this morning which the boys just loved. Ds3 went back to school this morning so missed out.
Got chatting to a Mum whos ds was 1 last week. Wasn't one of you ladies was it? I always wonder if I get chatting to a Mum if she a MM Anyway he wasn't walking yet either and found George most interesting and kept sitting by him and staring at him. So sweet.
My new tumble drier being delivered tommorrow. Got to ring in a minute to see exactly when.
Hope you have a good night all xxx

simpson · 06/01/2009 21:50

Madmouse - how do you feel about giving up BF? Well done for doing it for so long!!

Ange - I had a traumatic delivery with DS (not as bad as CS though) and it did put me of TTC for a year longer than I wanted to leave it iyswim. It does take time to mentally recover.

simpson · 06/01/2009 21:50

Gingeme - sorry you have tooth ache
