Thats good news Lucky.

JKS - they have been sharing since about 6 months and seems to work quite well. When we went on holiday DH came home two weeks before us and decorated DS1 bedroom, new bed covers and stuff and made it all nice, including the cot so DS1 made no fuss at all about DS2 joining him. DS2 had a terrible cold for quite some time in November and that has messed it up a little and I am constantly paranoid they will wake each other up if they wake in the night and then i will have two to deal with in the middle of the night, but generally if it is DS2 I just become lazy and bring him to our bed, DS1 normally settles quite well. think we will keep them together when BIL goes as his room is large and there will be plenty of space and they both play with each others toys and things so makes sense.

Housemum · 03/01/2009 21:49

Thank you for all the Happy Birthdays - she seemed totally unimpressed by the whole thing - have got family and friends dropping in tomorrow so have made cake and bought some crisps/sausages/veg & dips etc - more for the adults than the kids.

She is now on cow's milk - final bf was a month ago now - I thought it would be emotional but it was time. I will never bf again! And I feel OK about it!

Lukcy - I'm keeping everything crossed for K, it must be every mother's worst nightmare.

In 2 minds over the new Doctor Who - OK ish but too young and I now won't be able to drool over the telly. Sigh...

Not sure if anyone saw my link to the CBeebies bit? Our card didn't get shown on telly but you can do "virtual" cards on the website which are pretty good, partic for kids old enough to realise it's "their" name being read by Chris! (But not old enough to realise he's pre-recorded hundreds of different names!)

LuckySalem · 03/01/2009 22:00

Those of you with birthday coming up and FF what you doing about buying more formula? DD's formula is probably only going to last till the end of the week maybe earlier but I feel STUPID buying more formula when she won't need it all.

Would I be nuts to just start giving her cows milk before her 1st birthday? Was thinking of starting her on it before the Formula runs out in case she has a reaction to it.

madmouse · 03/01/2009 22:18

Lucky Nathan is having cowsmilk a few times a day and he was 11months on NYD. Only about an ounce here or there but he seems to like the taste. I do not believe that some magic button gets pressed when they are one year old, so I make changes when it suits us, which is now with nathan only bf twice a day.

just give her some in her cup and phase out the bottle and formula. I am sure she will be fine taking it.

I have a sealed foil pack of hipp organics formula if you want it? failed experiment, mister said stuff your formula where the sun don't shine

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 03/01/2009 22:53

God no not hipp. I'm CONVINCED that hipp is what gave her the poops that time.

I'll try the cowsmilk from tomorrow then. We bought her a plastic cup from woolies that says something like special daughter on the side so.... will be funny to see how much on floor and how much in mouth! lol

LuckySalem · 03/01/2009 22:53

Sorry MM - I did mean to say thanks for the offer on the milk but got too caught up in the whole Arr Hipp!

JustKeepSwimming · 04/01/2009 06:28

Morning all...

my turn to get up with ds1 today (up from 5.15, argh.)
Was put back in bed complaining, then came into our bed, then finally downstairs at 6.

And i just don't seem to be sleeping well myself even when the boys are asleep, v frustrating.

Housemum - i've seen that card thing on Beebies before, thinking i may do it for Tom's 3rd. Did you show Amelie's sisters?
H's birthday is going to be a very low-key affair. Some new pjs and a helium balloon each i think

Lucky - sounding positive for your friend

mixedmama - i have the fear of dealing with 2 in the night too but it hasn't actually happened yet.....
And Ds2 really does seem able to sleep through lots of Ds1 noise!

Have lots to do today, getting ready for Centre Parcs tomorrow (back Fri) and getting decorations in loft and last bits of post-Christmas tidying up.

But think i may go back to bed once dh gets up....
!

AngeChica · 04/01/2009 09:00

Morning! Happy new year. Havn't had time to trawl back through messages but hope you are all OK.

Just back from a bit of jaunt around the country seeing friends and family. Was nice but exhausting as DS obviously has got very unsettled. From next Weds when I've finished work for the week will be doing some serious sleep training as we've got to sort it for our own sanity.

Decided to put DS on cows milk over Christmas and he is fine. Still has a bottle first thing and at bedtime - we will be aiming towards cups from now on.

DS just starting to stand but has been super expert crawler since 7 months so I wonder if he has less incentive to walk. Got some shoes for him - size 5G! He is obsessed with books and brings them to us all the time.

We had our kitchen designed and are off to B & Q to order it today. Got some great deals in the sale. More debts but it's doing our head in living in a building site. will be good to get it sorted but we're not paying to have it fitted. DH and friends are going to do it themselves so the chaos will continue for a while yet .

simpson · 04/01/2009 09:32

Hi all

Lucky - I definately wouldn't buy any more formula!!

DD used to drink quite happily from a cup but has now totally refused and only wants her bottles

Going to my mum's today for Sunday lunch. DH at work.

Am just humming and ahhing about going out to get paper...but think it might be too cold

Also have decided that I might train to be a child minder!! Can stay at home and earn extra money. Not decided yet...is something I am thinking about...

Gingeme · 04/01/2009 10:26

Simpson I want to train as a child minder. I realy want to train to be a Doula but its alot of training.
George is back to just waking the once now thank goodness. He has been tottering holding on with one hand.
My big boys are going home soon. I will miss them but won't miss their constant eating and bickering!! My little boys will miss them.
Going to look for a new tumble dryer today. Ours is about 8 years old now and doesn't realy get very hot any more. I shall freecycle it I guess.
Has anybody made New Years Resolutions? I have decided to try to get to bed by 10.30. Havn't so far. Last night we were watching Lee Evans and got to bed about 12.30
Well better go lotd of washing to do after stripping beds and stuff.
Keep warm all xx

LuckySalem · 04/01/2009 12:31

my new years resolution is to lose weight, be more organised and do my A level (if they ever send it )

LuckySalem · 04/01/2009 12:33

had msg from friend today to say that he's alot brighter, not screaming at the nurses anymore and slept for 13 hours last night apart from a couple of stirrings so sounds positive.

Gingeme · 04/01/2009 14:25

Afternoon ladies.
Well we had a great result this afternoon, We looked in Comets for a tumble dryer, Condenser one, and saw a Hotpoint one, silver to go with my Moon washing machine,it was £279.99. DH asked the sales assistant if we could have it for £250? No sorry this is the sale price, won't go any lower blah blah blah. So we said thankyou and went to Currys where we saw exactly the same model for £269.99. DH asked if they would go down to £250. Yes ofcourse sir, only £19 for delivery too, was £29.99 in Comet. Thats being delivered Wednesday Then we went to Smyths to look for a little something for George for his birthday. Big sale on in the Baby department. Got him a Vteck mobile phone 20% off because the box was damaged. Looking at the double buggys, I know I said I wouldn't get another one, but they had a good old Madlaren with cosytoes and rain cover £150 with £50 off! It was there last one and because it was a display model they knocked another £20 off. Result or what?
Sorry for no personals but I was a bit excited about my purchases

simpson · 04/01/2009 17:28

Posted nice long message but computer lost it. Grrr...

Gingeme - well done on the shopping. Double buggy sounds a bargain

I bought a buggy snuggle thingie for £20 free delivery online last night. It was reduced from £35 so am pleased with that and it will last DD till she is 3.

Also am finally going hoover shopping tomorrow!!

Lucky - Glad your friends boy seems to be on the mend...

JKS - Did you manage to get back to bed?

LaT - Hope you are ok and your bro is behaving..

Ange - Am totally at Alek in size 5 shoes DS got his first pair when he was about 15mths and he was in size 4!!

DD has done 5 poos today Am on strike from changing any more

LuckySalem · 04/01/2009 17:39

Congrats on the shopping trip Ginge.

Sounds as though Friend's DS is definatly better, hospital says that they'd discharge him if the results were back today...

DD is busy playing with her musical table but its breaking - keeps sticking, I gotta try fix it for her tonight.
She's SOOOO close to walking, today she took one step without holding anything but i don't class that as walking but she is just so close.

I just made chicken dinner and I didn't burn anything

Gingeme · 04/01/2009 17:51

Your a domestic goddess Luckysalem
Simpson I would recomend a Henry. Just love ours and George sits in the cupboard and chats to him for ages!
George is currently pretend coughing. I think because no one has a cough anymore he is missing it
He loves mini Mars now too .....

simpson · 04/01/2009 17:51

Lucky - well done on the chicken dinner

I am not a great cook and am pleased when I don't burn stuff

Not saying that you are not a good cook though BTW!!

LuckySalem · 04/01/2009 17:52

Hey I'm a CRAP cook. lol

simpson · 04/01/2009 18:20

Gingeme - You must be psychic

I have just reserved a Hetty (think its the same but pink!!) in Currys for £88. Had £10 off

Lucky - I can manage to cook for Dcs but could never have a dinner party or anything!! Luckily DD's favourite meal ATM is baked beans and fish fingers Even I can manage that!!

madmouse · 04/01/2009 19:14

madmouse pulls her most snobbish face

well, my ds just ate lasagna, home made down to the white sauce, recipe of the house

oh and a horrid hipp jarr for lunch, don't blame him for leaving half

I love cooking. Good thing too as I am cooking lunch for 20 for Nathan's baptism. Just bought a whole ham (10lb)for the occassion.

And ordered a huuuugge Bob the Builder cake for the whole church.

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 04/01/2009 19:38

Well, last bf was yesterday.
Not intentional really as was planning to feed him his morning feed for a few more weeks but he work late today, had breakfast straight away then didn't seem bothered so i didn't offer.

Am now engorged and sore though
Hope it eases off in the next day or so or i'll be tempted to feed him again just for my comfort!

So, another milestone passed.... 80% happy, 20% nostalgic.

dinner here, back later...

simpson · 04/01/2009 19:51

Ohhh madmouse - can I come to yours for dinner

Actually I am not too bad at cooking really and can follow a recipe quite easily. I make my own pesto for DCs. I just don't like cooking much and can get quite lazy about it. DH does it when he is not at work in the evenings!!

JKS - and for you!! Just think of all you can do now you are "free"

simpson · 04/01/2009 19:53

Madmouse - forgot to say DD doesn't like the large Hipp organic jars either. There are only about 3 that she can have that don't have milk in

But a friend can me a heinz jar the other day (spag bol) and she loved it and ate the whole lot

LuckySalem · 04/01/2009 20:38

MM I want to share in the HUGE ham.

I'm cooking a dinner on the 24th for A and K and 2 other friends with their kids. I don't know how I'm going to cope cooking for 4 adults and 4 kids.
