Happy Birthday Xavier.

DS1 has come down with chicken pox, so will be stuck at home for the next week or two so. I am pryaing that DS2 doesnt get it as he is already teething and not sleeping and we arr having screaming fits, if he gets this it will be a complete nightmare.

Off to cath up but hope everything is going well with you all.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 24/01/2009 14:02

LaT - thinking of you...it is a hrd road, but they have to want to help themselves. You prob should let your dad know a little tho if he is going to be dealing with it after you have gone. MY DB has cut down the drinking loads, mainly becasue he just cant cope with copious amounts anymore but still thinks he is just enjoying himself and has no idea of the effect it has on the rest of us. My mum has had to pick him up from hospitals and police stations because he hs collapsed. What help is he getting from the medical people?

Thanks for the holiday wishes.. we will be going for two weeks, DH will miss them but i think secretely he is quite looking forward to the peace and quiet altho once we are actually gone he will be calling all the time.

I have messed up my FB and seem to have lost some people ( iwas having a clearout and must have deleted) add me please if i have got you ... for ease I am the one with the name beginning with Z and there is only one of me.

Come on Town

All 3 of us (me and Dcs) are in Ipswich tops

AngeChica · 24/01/2009 17:07

o well

simpson · 24/01/2009 17:14

Always next year!!

So much for DD wearing her Ipswich top for the first time, didn't bring much luck!!

LuckySalem · 24/01/2009 17:34

Hi all,

Hope you've all got me if not just let me know. It's nice talking to you all....

Had funny morning this morning, i've decided that I need to make sure I have a shower every morning as it doesn't always happen due to little miss stopping her morning naps so I tried a new plan with her.

Let her have access to everywhere upstairs - except the cats room (cos of litter boxes) and she was happily crawling between her toys in her room and the bathroom where I was showering. I finished and started to brush my teeth she got naggy with me and I thought it was cos I'd not paid attention to her so I picked her up for a quick cuddle and she tried to knick my toothbrush so I got hers out and gave it to her but that wasn't good enough. Then I remembered that when she normally brushes her teeth its in the bath and she dips the toothbrush alot so....
I pulled our towel box over to the sink and stood her on it with the water going and she stood there ever so happy with toothbrush in hand, waving it under the water every so often think I might get to shower and brush teeth more often now

*disclaimer am not dirty woman

Well, today me and DD have been to tesco's to buy her some paper & crayons (and paints for later) then we went and had KFC - little minx knicked my corn cob from the table (i'd finished eating it) and started sucking on it, when I tried to take it off her she started screaming so left it with her. We went to Clarks and bought some shoes as she's starting to walk now (when prompted we get the odd few steps - 3 is the most so far) £20 ahh well.

I didn't manage to get rid of the corn cob till she'd fallen asleep in the car. lol.

She's been drawing a present for my dad (they've asked for an original "aaliyah" for their birthday's nice and cheap) and is now asleep.

I have hoovered, brushed and moped the front room, Filled the dishwasher and brushed and moped the spare room.

LaTrucha · 24/01/2009 19:12

Just popping in to say Happy Birthday to Xavier - while it still is!

I will catch up tomorrow hopefully.

Things ok here.

Sabela likes to be kissed by both of us. She likes to kiss both of us. She likes it when Daddy gives me a kiss but MY WORD! What a different story when I give Daddy a kiss! LOL SHe kept putting her hands on my face and pushing me away! I think I'm only supposed to love her!

madmouse · 24/01/2009 20:08

lol at Sabela deciding who gets to kiss whom. Nathan loves kissing too, but only me and my step mum, daddy gets eskimo kisses as does his big friend (a male friend of ours he loves). I think he does not like beards as they both have one

Goodness me, those bottom teeth were easy in comparison, I now know what some of you are talking about with teething. This lot is a lot more distressing and painful. The secret recipe here: cream crackers!! . I have never felt sorry for a cream cracker before but boy the things get gnawed gnawed gnawed. Apparently that does the trick and then he will eat his dinner .

He also has to have his meals on my lap atm, bumbo or highchair Will Not Do , oh well, it will pass and in the short term it is more important that he enjoys his meals.Sleep not too bad.

Just wondering when I will stop feeling queasy and wondering how the pregnant among you cope when feeling sick and holding a wriggling tot

Had a laugh here: Had a right old battle this morning to get lactulose and antibiotics into Nathan, I thought tonight I will give them on his changing mat, so I have more control. Only to have him open his mouth obediently, swallowing all four spoonfulls and looking at me expectantly afterwards . Babies, who'll have them

Ok! I think I can manage a catch up

JKS Lazy day sounds good. What do you mean brick wall person?

Lily - how's your driveway? Can we be FB learners together>

Madmouse - It's agony watching their teeth come through, isn't it? I hope you have a breakthrough soon. It sounds liek Nathan has lots of lovely toys. I felt a bit reading about them all. Glad your getting some sleep.

Simpson - is it you Madmouse has sent to me as a friend? I'm rubbish at FB.

Mixedmama - sorry about the chicken pox. I hope it doesn't last too long. Thanks for you kind words. I'm really shocked at the medical people in fact. He has a psychiatrist and has been referred to a n alcohol clinic but his appointments are in February! He came out of hospital on Jan 2nd. For all they know, he's all on his own!

Lucky - It's scandalous how much baby shoes cost, isn't it? Bet she's very proud of them though.

Ange - You are queen of FB. I cannot get the hang of it.

I'm rubbish at matching up names on FB and names here. Coud you giveme some pointers? I'll go get Mixedmama in a mo but otherwise can you nudge me or something?

I haven't spoken to DB. Sorry if your'e but to cut a long story short here are my reasons

  • he's a bit of a drama queen and I feel that everyone reacting every time he does something actuall makes the behaviour worse.
  • my dad is constantly on his back at the moment and I don't want him to thikn I'm doing that to.
I don't want to get into a conforntational relationship with him, and I'm not sure that anything else could develop at the moment. #
  • I will say something when the time is right. I'm quite detemrined.
  • he's very down and very scared. I don't think he's under any illusions about how much trouble he's in really.
I also don't want this to end sourly as we'ev done so much in the last weeks.
simpson · 24/01/2009 20:23

LaT - yes its me MM sent you on FB. Am slowly getting the hang of it (I think )

Am truely dreading the teething. DS was a breeze and the teeth just seemed to appear overnight I know I won't be that lucky again

DS didn't get his first tooth till he was 14mths (he walked first!) so I imagine DD will be anytime now...

LaTrucha · 24/01/2009 20:27

Simpson - I think you are now my friend!

simpson · 24/01/2009 20:31

Yep!! Have added you

madmouse · 24/01/2009 21:26

have uploaded some pics, including some very proud ones! Nathan was sitting so well this afternoon that I could occupy myself with taking pics of it!

Ginge, saw you reposted your birth announcement

I am nostalgic too, put a newborn pic of Nathan on my fb profile...

Forgot to say Happy Birthday Xavier.

LuckySalem · 24/01/2009 21:38

Also MM your pics are so gorgeous!!

LaTrucha · 24/01/2009 21:47

He's adorable Madmouse.

simpson · 24/01/2009 21:51

I have never seen the newborn ones before. Lovely to see how how has grown

LuckySalem · 24/01/2009 21:53

Ladies - I know its early to be discussing this but when is it time for LO's to have a "bed"

Just asking cos DD always sleeps better in our bed - I think its cos of the space to wriggle in. My friend has her LO in a bed with a "bumper" at the side but DD is alot more mobile so I think she'd just climb out.

simpson · 24/01/2009 21:56

Could she climb out with a sleeping bag on?

Or tuck her right in (round her and under the mattress iyswim.

Having said that DS didn't go into a bed (well he is in converted cot bed) till he was 2 and a half.

LuckySalem · 24/01/2009 21:58

I'm not sure cos we've tried sleeping bags but gave up with them cos she got so annoyed with them. I think if we tried it again she'd probably be the same.

Its probably really not safe for her to be in a bed but I just get the feeling it would be easier IYKWIM - Always looking for the easy way

She's ok for now, will wait till she'd be safe getting out. I just worry she'd get out and spend all night playing with her toys lol.

MrsMcJnr · 24/01/2009 22:01

Happy belated birthdays to Martha, Henry, Charlie and Ruby !! Hope you all had lots of fun

Thanks for all the birthday wishes Xavier had a lovely day I was up until 1.30am last night getting ready for his party so that I could give him all my attention today and I enjoyed every minute of his special day there were 9 adults and 4 babies at his party so not too big but fun

JKS ? I have found pashminas warmer than jackets sometimes, get a big thick one you are doing so well on the weight loss sorry to hear about the book ripping Xavier has done it a few times but I think it is just trying to open the pages rather than anything else at this stage.

Angechica ? that must be tough with DS?s night time waking Xavier has been doing it quite a lot recently and it can take up to an hour to settle him again. We have a rule that if it is after 2am he gets a nappy change and a bottle then to get him back down. He woke at 6 this morning but then went back down until 9.

Madmouse ? lovely baptism photos, and that was quite a cake! nope not me on FB hon, don?t do FB

Simpson ? how is DD feeling? Poor little thing

Lily ? lovely pics but there wasn?t really much of you in that one?.! How awful about the girl you taught

Filly ? so lovely to hear from you hope life gets easier soon!

Mixedmama ? glad you got the holiday sorted out

simpson · 24/01/2009 22:01

She can join Lilyloo's Martha!!

TBH I will try and keep DD in a cot for as long as I can. She only has a small cot though so may put DS's cotbed back as a cot and move him to an adult bed.

LuckySalem · 24/01/2009 22:07

hehe - yeh they can start a midnight playgroup

I think i'll just leave her be for a little longer as she is sleeping I just notice the difference in her sleep when she's in our bed and when she's in her cot is all. She's always more awake and alert the next day in our bed.
