Mixed mama think you need to talk to DH about holiday as it would be good to go.

Lilyloo - We have sport & kids channels which I think costs the most. Might get DH to ring them...

Have just read the letter properly and they are saying if we take sky talk we wonm't have to pay this.

"£5 a month is still great value. However if you decide to take sky talk free time you will go back to paying £0 a month"

Cannot stand the way they operate TBH

mixedmamameansbusiness · 21/01/2009 13:29

Simpson I feel your pain with Sky.... that is ridiculous.

I think DH just does not want to go, and at the end of the day he would be spending 2 weeks with my parents who are great and they get on well but maybe he just doesnt want to do that again this year... going on our own is fine only that my dad is then going to ask why DH isnt coming and he will be annoyed at the reasons like being bored etc as he will see that as ungrateful... we have a house (a fairly large house) we could even be downstairs as there are two floors on our own, a garden (again large) and the beach only a short walk away and an even better beach that we can sit and eat at aswell up the road too, so as far as my dad can see it is a perfect holiday for the kids and he cant see any reason why DH would not want to go. My dad is very in your face and will keep questionin me until he gets what he deems a suitable answer or a yes.

simpson · 21/01/2009 13:44

Mixed mama - Have just got through to sky. The phone lines aren't working

Basically everyone who has free broadband with sky will now either have to pay £5 a month or switch to sky talk Am sooo they think they can hold us to ransome. Grrr.

Need to ring the post office and see if our broadband will be cheaper through them....

Can you go without DH? take the kids and say it is not his thing?

mixedmamameansbusiness · 21/01/2009 13:58

Simpson - is there not another provider with a better deal?? We ended up cancelling our Virgin TV as it seemed that most of the time we were watching the standard 5 channels and cbeebies so now just have freeview...

simpson · 21/01/2009 14:11

Don't mind staying with sky for TV etc but need to get broadband.

The post office works out more than sky so DH wants to stay with them but it just pisses me off that they can dictate who our phone bill is through iyswim.

Lilyloo · 21/01/2009 14:48

aaaah

Simpson i think our phone works out cheaper though with them.

simpson · 21/01/2009 15:21

Lilyloo - Unfortunately it does work out cheaper but hate being dictated to iyswim. Sky are hard to get through to at the best of times...don't really want everything through them...ho hum.

Grrr on your rubbish. Total c**p only letting you have one extra bag too.

madmouse · 21/01/2009 15:24

Hi all

Happy birthday Henry!

Grumble
My day off, Nathan was going to his cm and I was going to get the house straight again and have some me time.

Of course I have been feeling sick all night and threw up at 7.30am and again at 9. Stopped now but feeling very shaky. Can't have Nathan on top of me to sleep dh now trying unsuccessfully to get him down in his cot

It doesn not help that I am scared of being sick (Good thing I am not you LaT )and everything hurts from being so stressed and tense about it.

Oh well, enough moaning

will be back soon

Happy Birthday Henry XXXXX

simpson · 21/01/2009 16:42

madmouse - hope you feel better soon...

LaTrucha · 21/01/2009 19:18

MM - Get well soon!

Just went to visit a friend who has just had a baby - the one who had to be readmitted. She's doing fine, and the baby's gaining loads of weight, but she's had infection after infection and she's so run down. IT makes me remember how hard those early weeks are.

Which makes me think...
Anyone heard from Fragolina?

Lilyloo · 21/01/2009 20:24

MM poor you you aren't having a good week , hope you feel better soon!

Yeah wonder what happened to Frag ?

JustKeepSwimming · 21/01/2009 20:39

Thanks for all the birthday wishes

We had a good day, 3 toddlers + 2 babies came round for afternoon & party food tea.
I hate party bags so wasn't going to do anything then got inspired whilst getting helium balloons for the boys and got enough for everyone to take home one - all v happy toddlers
(and hopefully happy mums minus bag of plastic tat)

all kanckered now.

Am watching 24 - can anyone explain in english what the heck is going on?
we're only on hour 3 and i'm confused

no more weight loss today, so still 9,9 but bmi did go down a bit more, yey. So barring those last 2 pounds, i've lost Henry's baby weight, hooray

Still a stone to go of tom's weight.....

sorry if i've missed stuff, had bubbly, now having a red wine, brain is mush

AngeChica · 21/01/2009 21:01

Anyone in need of a laugh see this thread.

Frag is on facebook. I think being back at work interferes with ability to keep up with thread IMO.

simpson · 22/01/2009 10:01

Morning all

Madmouse - hope you feel a bit better today...

DS & DD currently shrieking with delight over something i the front room.

DD is very chuffed with her new word (Uh oh) and says it any time something is dropped, DS falls over, a toy makes a noise etc

simpson · 22/01/2009 13:34

Where is everyone today??

Still waiting for pead to call me back

JustKeepSwimming · 22/01/2009 14:07

Hi simpson - i'm here!
Maybe you should phone them again?
DS2 often says uh oh too - and if you say it back to him, he'll repeat it and on and on and on, etc!

Nightmare this morning at the weigh in clinic - wanted a 'birthday' weight for DS2. Have been to the clinic with them both before so didn't really think about it. Of course DS2 was still in his car seat then!
Anyway, got him weighed & measured (21-something, dropped below the 50% line for the first time, oops. & 78cm, think that was just over the 50% line), was getting him redressed when DS1 for some unknown reason decided to walk straight into the table He really smacked into it hard. was expecting blood, broken bones, a&e, etc. but he was ok. As i was cuddling him (his brave don't want to cry face made me cry ), ds2 decided to fall over and bang his head too. all crying at once.
What a spectacle we must have been.
Deep breath and went to a friends for a cuppa.
Won't be rushing back anytime soon.

Was going to get ds1 weighed & measured too as we were there but sod that!

still feel that sort of post-crying sad atm, ridiculous really.

anyway, lazy afternoon of nothing planned. ds1 watching Toy Story, DS2 asleep.

Hope everyone's ok,

JustKeepSwimming · 22/01/2009 14:07

Sorry Ange hi to you too!
I can't remember who's who on FB!

Lilyloo · 22/01/2009 14:19

Afternoon all quiet on here recently!!!!!!

JKS hope you all recovered it always happens doesn't it! Glad H had good birthday yesterday.

Simps what time should they be calling ??

JKS your nightmare reminds me of last night i had to take dd to dance at 4 and then race back to ds school to get him from dance club at 4.15. We were looking after neighbours ds whilst she did school run. Her son ended up going missing after school. So i was rushing about , late for dancing , late for picking ds up.Poor M was crying because she was hungry. Rushed back to dancing to collect dd1 brought them in and ds juice bottle proceeded to pour out , ribena all over the cream carpet.

DP walks in ribena all over ds and the floor , dd1 crying and dd2 crying and i tearing my hair out

Just got shopping in and ended up getting dd1 the peppa pig magazine and extras advertised on the tv. It's good (Simpson is it your ds who likes it?) We also got her new Peppa dvd on for about the 10th time whilst she is playing with her peppa house etc can anyone see the theme

DD2 still in shock at the cot being moved down , she is now trying to climb the poles like a fireman

Hope everyone else ok!!!

Lilyloo · 22/01/2009 14:20

oh and a thought on new thread title , do you think it should be shiny new year 'toddlers' rather than babies now??

Who is 1 next ??

LaTrucha · 22/01/2009 14:25

JKS - we had our first accident the other day ans it was at the GP too! - although in the waiting room. I felt horrible for ages after and had to go for lucnh with DH at work to calm me down. GLad to know it happens to seasoned mummies too!

Simpson - any news?

MM - are you feeling better? Hope so.

Lily - you are very brave having a cream carpet! I bet that was bought pre-DCs! at your little fireman!

Gingeme - you ok?

Hi Ange! Hi Mixedmama - hope you're finding some resolution.

Anyine know when Lucky's back. I know she's 'away.'

Can you tell what's happened to me this afternoon?

I HAVE AN EMPTY HOUSE AND A SLEEPING BABY! BLISS! The first time in three weeks. I'm now going to - well, do what I would normally do really, but with a feeling of freedom!

LaTrucha · 22/01/2009 14:32

I might close the curtains and do the hoovering naked though

JustKeepSwimming · 22/01/2009 14:47

Can't believe how quickly we've used up this thread!

27 Dec we started!

LaT - what an image!!!
So has your brother gone then?
I just had visions of such an awful injury and by the time DH gets home tonight there prob won't even be the faintest of marks!

Lilyloo - LOL at your ribena moment, it's all in the timing.....not really laughing at you just at the situation iykwim.

Def move onto toddlers now i agree.

Grrr, bought a Toy Story DVD off Ebay, DS2 chewed it & made holes in it
So...bought another one off Ebay.
DS1 'posted' them both into the wooden chest that the tv sits on.
I finally got them both out today. put the non-holey one on. fine, ds1 entranced.
it keeps stopping!
check it and it's totally scratched from where he posted it.
Am trying the holey one to see if it's ok until the end where the holes affect it, but no, it's sticking too because...it's scratched too.

Will have to buy a 3rd one, grrrrr.

And i keep saying to ds1 that it's scratched, why don't we watch something else, but no, he wants Toy Story.
hmph!

fillybuster · 22/01/2009 14:52

hi all,

sorry, i lost you for ages....started a new job over at Cable&Wireless which is a) enormously time consuming and stressful and b) is mostly open plan and involves being in the office and on calls/in meetings all the time, so no time for MN during the work day. And dh put his foot down about computer use in the evenings since we weren't getting to spend any time together...

so i've got no idea whats going on, and i must admit that i'm unlikely to get much more regular for the short-term (although i'm desperately looking for a new job with a less nightmare manager which doesn't involve driving 120 miles round trip to Bracknell once/twice a week...will keep you posted!) but i wanted to wish everyone a very happy first birthday for their lo's...i can't believe that a year or so ago today i was still sitting at home desperately waiting for something to happen whilst the rest of you were off popping out babies and reading your birth stories...!!!

hope you're all doing well, massive hugs to everyone (but very special ones to...well, you girls know who you are!!) xxx
