Yep will probably share the driving duties with A as long as she defintaly says she's coming.
I'll drive anyway cos trains drive me insane. I used to have to get them to and from college and they were delayed about 80% of the time.

simpson · 15/01/2009 23:38

Hope we are not delayed

Hope DD behaves on train

She has got a shocking temper on her!! Was telling a RL friend tonight on the phone, with DS at the same age when he wanted to get out of highchair/buggy he would just lift arms up, but not DD its a full blown tantrum screaming etc!!

When DS had had enough to eat again at the same age he would just turn head to the side but no DD sounds like she is being murdered!! LOL

LuckySalem · 15/01/2009 23:39

Ladies - couple of questions for you.

1 - DD still has no teeth. When do I start worrying about them?
2 - Is any DC's using an open top cup? If so, How did you get them to? What techniques etc.

LuckySalem · 15/01/2009 23:40

oh simps - DD is exactly like this. If you take something from her she SCREAMS, walk away she SCREAMS. I know i've got a bad temper but bloody hell.

simpson · 15/01/2009 23:43

Lucky - DD still no teeth and think Nicky's Charlie doesn't have any either!! You are supposed to mention it to HV if they still don't have any after 18mths.

DS got his first at 13mths then promptly knocked it out (root and all) by falling over. Still has gap now, bless!!

DD doesn't use an open topped cup either and when DS was at a private nursery they didn't expect them to till 18mths or so, so I wouldn't worry about it

DD uses tommy tippee for water and still has bottles for milk (although DS was off bottles by now at 11mths)

LuckySalem · 15/01/2009 23:45

OK i'll not worry till 18 months then - I haven't really been worried but whenever I've tried to ask the HV's they've just said they'll come. Well yes I'm sure they would but when do I need to worry? So thanks.

Open top, Not too worried about it but have been told she should be trying an open top cup from nowish so thought I'd give it a go but mainly stick to tomee tippes.

simpson · 15/01/2009 23:48

You could always try one of those cups that has a spout but no handles first. So she gets used to it.

TBH DS is 3 and still uses them sometimes. They are like sports bottles. Less mess if he insists wants tea in the front room

LuckySalem · 15/01/2009 23:53

We've got some of those and she's already a dab hand at them.
I think she'd be ok and cope but I'm just worried about the mess!!! lol

anyways.... gnite and i'll speak to you soon but I dont know when as DP is off till next fri so wont be online as much as I normally am.

For anyone I miss. Happy Birthday.

simpson · 15/01/2009 23:54

Am I the earliest to wish Ali a happy birthday then? lol.

Yesterday both boys were up at 5.55 and ds1 got a sad face on his chart (first in days), he said something about henry waking him but we thought he meant he woke henry.
anyway H up from 5.10 today
have crept in and brought him downstairs to let tom sleep on as he was soooo tired yesterday.
Combine with dh having yet another cold, i've been woken up loads in the night and now up at ungodly hour again.

Don't know why he's awake, teeth maybe but not complaining now. just sat chewing his blanket and watching the pre-beebies loop quite happily
haven't given him milk yet so don't think he's hungry....

have overhanging gut thing here too don't remember it so much after T (though i put less weight on i suppose), sure the scar makes it go a funny shape.

no teeth - don't worry, friend had 2 of her DCs with no teeth at 12 months. not sure when they started, will try to remember to ask her one day.

ope cup - lol i let ds1 have them sometimes and he still pours drink all over himself sometimes (yesterday for eg). ds2 loves having one with 2 handles, he makes the funniest happy noises then tips it everywhere. so not for actual drinking iykwim, using a combo of tommee tippee & avent sippy cups.

pamelat · 16/01/2009 07:28

Hi all, sorry to gatecrash. I never realised that this section was here and I had a Jan 08 baby who is 1 tomorrow.

Happy Birthday to Aaliyah for today. I think I will find the first birthday quite an emotional moment.

Morning ladies, have just skimmed..

HappyBirthday Aaliyah!!!

Thanks for the advice ladies.... my parents are wonderful so they will do whatever they can to make me happier. I am going to bring it up with DH but definitely not in a complaining about ILs kind of way... I have thoroughly mad emy point with that, in a I would just prefer if it was more spilt sort of way and my dad has offered more than a few times.

Will catch up properly and actually not talk about myself I promise.

LaT - good luck for the talk and be prepared for a long and arduous road... my DB is 5 years down the road and it is still a struggle altho he has come a long long way from where he was.

simpson · 16/01/2009 11:36

Mixed mama - hope chat goes well. Forgot to say..am liking the new name

LaT - hope last night went ok...

Madmouse - enjoy having family over

Got DD weighed today. I had arranged to meet a couple of friends there with their LOs which was nice.

DD now weighs 18lbs 5ozs has put on 2 ozs in 3 wks. Doesn't weight gain start to slow down about now?

HV thinks DD might just have an upset tummy and give it another week and if no better then ring the hospital and see what they say...

rockdoctor · 16/01/2009 11:37

Hi everyone and happy birthday Aaliyah

Just skimming as usual I'm afraid, Frankie has just gone down for a nap - she fell asleep on the floor poor thing and DH has taken her upstairs. Sleep is still a major issue here but we're just going with the flow at the moment.

DH just found out that he didn't get a job that he was really quite confident about. Another candidate had more experience - but the guy said they may end up not filling it anyway... I will find out next week if I'm being made redundant but have also been warned that this is only the first wave so even if I survive this one, there will be more. Just feeling so and at the people that have got us into this mess. Fortunately DH is managing to stay very positive but I'm struggling. Seriously thinking we may end up having to sell up and move overseas again.

Anyway, enough of that, aren't our babies just adorable at the moment. I can't believe how much Frankie's absorbing every day and she's even becoming quite communicative - she certainly knows what she wants and how to let us know about it.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 16/01/2009 11:47

meantto say that the name change is in relation to a losing weight thread not my ILs

LaTrucha · 16/01/2009 11:51

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALI! Hope you all have a lovely day.

Welcome Pamelat! What is DC called?

Lucky - I know some HV who refuse to even discuss teeth as the timing of them is so random. I wouldn't worry. Sabela uses an open cup if we support her but usually a spout.

Well DH said they had a talk while they wee outside smoking together and he is 'thinking' of going next week. I think this means he won't go. Will have another go today. He has taken to just lying on his bed all day. None of his psych services seem to be treating him as at all urgent. I know if he was at home he'd have relapsed by now.

sory for no catch up - very whiney DD and I must pay her some attnetion. She has a cold! So do I!

pamelat · 16/01/2009 13:18

My little girl is called Ella.

Know its a bit random but to try to get up to speed (only read a few pages) she has 4 teeth (and didn't we know about them coming), she can crawl and pull herself to standing but I think she is a long way off walking (unlike every other baby in my RL antenatal group)

For the first 5 months of her life she never slept, now she is good at night but a monkey to get to sleep in the day (but we just about manage)

My DH has been made redundant too but is at interview today, so fingers crossed.

I am still off work, I go back in 2 weeks time. I think I'll be ok but sad initially. I'll be part time.

rockdoctor · 16/01/2009 13:32

Welcome pamelat - your DD sounds just like mine, has never really been keen on sleeping. We're managing at the moment but getting her to sleep at night is a pita as she still cries herself to sleep, up to 40mins some nights, almost like she needs to do it as part of her routine.

La Trucha - so sorry to hear things are still rocky with your brother and I wish I could offer some advice but have absolutely no experience of that kind of thing, so I'll just say we're thinking of you and leave it to others to offer practical support

Oh, and we're on open cups here, with me holding obviously, but tbh she still wants her bottle most of the time. Btw, how many milk feeds (bottle or otherwise) are people on at the moment. Frankie is still getting three most days - morning afternoon and bedtime.

Anyway, must go, two hour appointment with dentist beckons......

pamelat · 16/01/2009 14:03

Ella is on 2 bottles a day now, was 3 until a recently (a month or so back) she has morning and evening.

Got her weighed yesterday for the first time in ages and she is still on the 85% percentile line so she seems to be getting plenty of something.

Lilyloo · 16/01/2009 14:14

Afternoon all

Hope A is having a lovely birthday!!

Welcome Pamelat and to Ella! Hope your dh get's te job!

Rockdoctor sorry to hear of your troubles sounds like a tough time ahead for you

LaT that seems so unfair that you are left supporting him as they don't prioritise him

JKS that the early starts are creeping back!
We had shocking night last night with Martha but she not eating today so don't know if she coming down with something. Hope not she has lot's of visitors coming around on Sun
day!

Any tips on what to feed thepeople coming round on Sunday ? Haven't specified a time so need to take that into account an pref something cheap! Help!!!

Awen hope you all better soon

Mixedm i think you need to stress your point without dredging up past feelings about il's. Easier said than done i am sure. I don't think that is t all nreasonable though suggesting a more even split with both family's contributing to childcare.

Simps hope it is just a tummy upset , guess it's hard to decipher but you don't want to her to suffer again

Hope everyone else ok!

Am just sorting things for dd1 party tom and going shopping for her birthday cake and dd2 birthday cake later!

Oh and our driveway is covered in oil £900 and it seems it's still not fixed
I hope it get's sorted as i am still hoping to come to meet up .Who is coming ??Oh and thanks for congrats on my exam i am quite pleased with myself

LaTrucha · 16/01/2009 14:14

Pamelat - hope your DH gets it.

Don't worry about catching up too much. You'll get in the swing. I don't think Simpson joined until her DD was a few months old and now we couldn't do without her!

My dd has 6 teeth now. Usually she doesn't bit me but today she has bitten me 5 times and I am mightily annoyed! She did it first when she got her first two teeth but after telling her 'no' she stopped. Today I've taken to putting her down and leaving the room.

She is also a nightmare at sleeping though much better now than before.
