norash40 · 17/05/2005 15:59

Oh Christina, I am in London (SE)

BABYD · 17/05/2005 16:04

not sure exactly but they used to do the diet where you dont mix protein and carbs on the same day but you can vary from day to day, which you prefer. i lost 2 stone with them about 7 years ago, so fingers crossed.

norash40 · 17/05/2005 16:19

you go gal, let us know how it goes.

misdee · 17/05/2005 16:40

oh my word, dont talk about weight loss. i have no idea wehat i weigh now, and only a vauge recollection of what i weighed at my 12 week booking in appointment. but i know i need to lose around 4stone ideally. just hjavent got the motivation atm. feel shattered all the time, if i sit still too long i start to nod off. and its worse if i lie down to feed serena during the day as i'll be out for the count. feeding her makes me zzzzzzzz lol. still sleeping loads at night, and she generally only wakes for one feed now about 3am. (sorry popsycal!!)
we are realy nappy people too, my HV think they are great. might go show oiff some funky looking fuzzis tomorrow at clinic.

popsycal · 17/05/2005 16:55

i love my fuzzi

erm

i love harry's fuzzi

OP posts:
misdee · 17/05/2005 17:00

haha. dont they look cute in fuzzis. i love tots bots as serena look like the baby off the fairy bottle in them.

Cristina7 · 17/05/2005 22:09

Tots Bots here as well for nappies, a variety of wraps, though.

Thanks for the congrats re weight loss. I went to WW again today and this past week i've put on 1.5 lbs. Oh, well, can't be helped sometimes. I blame going out to an Indian restaurant on Sunday. Also the pint of Guiness everyday. And a few other things too, lol.

About the boobs - same here.

Norash - i'm in Wimbledon. When the weather gets nicer (in a predictable way), do you fancy meeting up?

popsycal · 18/05/2005 13:00

we just came back from our first class in a baby massage course....
It was BRILLIANT and harry cooed all the way through...

Do go if you get the chance!

Hi everyone - just taken me ages to catch up on all the posts - good to hear how everyone is getting on. Welcome to the newbies

Have just taken Grace for her 8 week check and jabs - can sympathise 3mummy - Grace was inconsolable after the injections, however she fell asleep in her pram on the way home and is still asleep now so hopefully she will be a bit better when she wakes. I did give her some Calpol but most of it dribbled out again so not sure how much she actually got!

On the subject of weight loss, I am not losing any but that'snot reallly surprising given the amount I'm eating. I keep resolving not to buy chocolate/cakes etc when I go to the supermarket but my willpower is non-existant and I always get tempted . I'm sort of hoping that I can lose some weight just by walking ( I do at least 40 minutes every day just taking dd1 to school and back again) and try not to get in the car unless I have to. Anyone know how many calories typing burns?

We are getting loads of smiles now - was starting to worry a bit as dd1 started smiling at 5 weeks and Grace has only really started the last week or two, but she is making up for it now. She is pretty contented most of the time and we are still getting 8hours unbroken sleep at night so are very lucky.

At the moment I don't think I will go back to work - I am really enjoyng being at home at the moment. I left things very open with my boss and he has said that I can go back whenever I want, even if that's 3 years down the line! Anyway, I will take my 12 months mat. leave and then see how I feel. I might be fed up of being a would-be domesticv goddess by then

Oh - BABYD - re: your question to Norash - my mum gave birth to my brother, at home with only gas and air and he was 10lb 5oz!! . She didn't need stitches either apparently. No idea how she managed it!

misdee · 18/05/2005 15:47

Just had Serena weighed, she now weighs 11lb 4oz, so the feeding frenzy over the last few days has increased her weight.
Got the HV to put in her red book that serena has a blue spot on her bum so i dont get accused of bruising her. HV is coming by tomorrow for a weaning talk!!! no chance of weaning yet lol.

Serena is very chatty and smiley, she is just a little love really. cant belive she is now 12/13 weeks old (i'm useless at keeping track). hope everyone else is ok.

Pidge · 18/05/2005 16:14

Really need broadband at home - my mumsnet habit is proving hard to sustain with Iris around! We're all well - nighttimes are completely random - sometimes she wakes every one and a half hours, but then last night she only fed at 7pm, 10pm, 2.30am and 5am. Almost the hardest thing is not knowing what kind of night it's going to be. Popsycal - you have my sympathy. We're definitely on more like a 2-hourly waking schedule too. And from around 3am the only way to get Iris to stay sleeping is for me to be in bed next to her sticking her back on the boob every time she threatens to stir! This means she feeds a HUGE amount up to about 7am when we get up and consequently starts the day in super high spirits, beaming at everyone and hiccuping merrily! I don't sleep brilliantly during this time - but it sure is better than having her awake.

Dp takes his remaining week of paternity leave from this weekend (postponed from the birth because he was off work sick for a fortnight before Iris arrived, and was worried about his students missing too much more teaching immediately). So we're off to Wales to stay with my parents for 10 days. Can't wait to be looked after, and to have extra helpers to entertain Iris and dd1.

Must scoot - hope to log on a bit more from Wales, as my parents have broadband.

Cristina7 · 18/05/2005 16:34

I love reading about all the other babies Sylvia's age. Such lovely and feminine names too (the girls', obviously).

Pidge - have a good time in Wales. I can't remember last time we had 10 whole days of holiday.

Misdee - is Serena's blue spot at the base of her spine? I remember we learnt something about it but can't remember anything more than that (just one of those curiosities, not associated with anything medical at all).

I'm taking Sylvia for a weigh-in tomorrow. She should put on weight, I should take off weight.

misdee · 18/05/2005 16:35

yes it is at the base of her spine, top of her bottom. its quite unusual as me and dh are very pale skinned and as far as we are aware there is no-one in our families who is darker skinned at all.

Cristina7 · 18/05/2005 16:43

Misdee - it's called a mongolian/mongoloid spot and disappears within a couple of years. Up to 10% of white children have it, up to 80% of Asian children. Not associated with anything at all, just pigmentation, a collection of melanocytes.

misdee · 18/05/2005 16:45

really. was told by gp it was very unusual for white babies to have it. well, that proves her wrong lol.

Cristina7 · 18/05/2005 16:53

Nah, not so rare. Here's from a quick search "The prevalence of Mongolian spots varies among different ethnic groups according to the overall depth of pigmentation. Mongolian spots are common among Asian, East Indian, and African races, but rare among Caucasian and other races. Reported incidences in representative ethnic infants are as follows:
Asian: 95-100%, East African: 90-95%, Native American: 85-90%, Hispanic: 50-70%, Caucasian: 1-10%"

misdee · 18/05/2005 16:55

ah thanks. i was surprised when Gp mentioned it as i didnt notice it. considering she had her check at 10 weeks old, i was a bit unobserbant till then.

Leogaela · 18/05/2005 21:22

pidge - have a great holiday.
Niklas is also unpredictable in his waking up and feeding habits, but he usually doesn't wake up more than once or twice a night so its not too bad.
What do struggle with sometimes - I mentioned feeling as if I have empty boobs sometimes and its been like that the last couple of days and I have the feeling that Niklas's hunger is never satisfied and he keeps needing to feed very regularly. Yesterday afternoon I gave him a bottle to see if my boobs would fill up again but they didn't seem to.

Popsycal - the massage could help relax Harry and help his sleep problem !

I am curious what injections your babies are getting that are upsetting them. When Niklas had his at around 7/8 weeks it didnt bother him at all.

Cristina - I agree, everyone has chosen really lovely names for their babies.

ZoeC · 18/05/2005 22:05

Rebecca had her jab today - she was really cross and grumpy this afternoon, and seemed a bit hot, so we gave her calpol and she's been asleep since! coming up for 5 hours now - never have I seen her sleep this long. Just wish I'd gone to bed at 5pm now lol!

We have night feeds here too - usually 10/11pm, 1am or 2am, then 4 or 5, 7.30. I usually fall asleep feeding her still so am still accidentally co-sleeping. Still sleeping though so I don't mind

Don't know what she weighs now - was 11lb 13oz over 10 days ago so definatley over 12lb now, and I've abandoned all 0-3 month clothes already.

Leogaela - the feeding could be a growth spurt so a bottle won't help as he's trying to increase your supply. If it is, it should settle soon.

Pidge - enjoy your break

Popsy - glad the massage went well, hope it helps settle Harry more

popsycal · 19/05/2005 09:50

girls
have been thinking....i would love to show you all a photo of harry and see all your babies but am not comfortable with doing it so publicly

would you be interested in setting up a photobucket account for the march babies with a password that we only know?

Great idea popsy - will CAT you. Sorry to hear about your BP - let us know how you get on.

Enjoy you holiday Pidge - whereabouts in Wales are you going? We live in Cardiff.

Leogaela - it is the Meningitis C which I think upsets them - the nurse said that it stings. Do they give it in Switzerland?

Well, I'm off to town now - have been trying to get in all week but not quite managed it! Grace is getting too long for her sleepsuits - she is 60cm now which puts her on the 98th percentile! She's going to be tall like me
I

norash40 · 19/05/2005 11:33
