i really should not be on here......

turning laptop off for a bit so i can

ACHIEVE something (like VG)

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 05/01/2009 16:13

Hey TS What's the time where you are? I can never work out the time difference as you are always doing odd things at odd hours LOL.

dizzydixies · 05/01/2009 17:32

well rasp to you all, I've met the lovely poppy in RL [parp]

VG we also have a hand-me-down gown that my dbrother, myself and all my cousins were christened in as well as a shawl my great aunt knitted (the one who DD1 is named after ) my mum also made a shawl when DD1 was born so I shall use that this time - its just very white is that makes any sense? the christening robe is beautiful though, I love it

which brings me to rather a shameful topic - I shall share with you all and nobody in RL as am a bit embarrassed at childishness of it all.

my mum always kept hold of the gown and the shawl, my brother never had dnephew christened and my cousin never wanted it when he had his daughter in 2000 (I suspect more to do with his partner at the time but not the point) Both DD1 and DD2 have been christened in it and when I get the finger out for DD3 she'll wear it too (if it still fits ) SO getting back to the poing, another cousin of mine is having his wee boy christened at Easter and I think they're wanting to use the family robe. As Dylan is probably my last, the likelihood of the robe coming back to me is very small. My worry is (and here comes the pathetic bit so thank you if you've got this far) that they won't take care of it. I won't be giving up the shawl that my mum made but would have to hand over the robe and great aunt's shawl.

am almost tempted to get Dylan christened really late so it HAS to come back to me although that won't work as I have several younger cousins who will no doubt have families at some point much later on.

am being pathetic and a snob I know

someone give me a good slap

(vg always willing to help on the christening robe hunt would love to do a double whammy but if in Ireland we'd end up with all of his side and thats NOT happening!!! am considering double whammy in Spain with cousins wee one, apart from fact they're a different religion to us it really is appealing lol)

longwayfromhome · 05/01/2009 17:38

dizzy - if you are likely to be invited to all the cousins Christenings then could you offer to your whole family to be keeper and looker afterer of the robe? It might be a nice family thing to take over from your mum?

cc - OK, sorry that we won't meet, but probably a good thing from this side as well as DS has just started a cough - he is fine, no fever or probs breathing but I probably wouldn't want him to splutter all over your DS on our first meeting! England is great but VERY COLD and apparently FULL OF GERMS as well

dizzydixies · 05/01/2009 17:40

and I forgot to mention we've had a pyjama day in the house today apart from when DD2 managed to lock me sodding out!!! of course it had to be at that very moment the postie turned up

luckily DD1 has some sense and can take instruction well - she obviously takes after me

longway if I thought I could get away with it I would but seeing as my mum is survived by her 3 younger sisters I imagine they'll get involved in it all - its not mine to hold on to am just a little worried about its fate tbh

Miamla · 05/01/2009 18:50

dizz, i'd mention to your family that you really want to carry on from your mum in looking after the robe. surely they can't argue with that. and if they do, offer to change your cousin's baby's nappy after the service, whip the robe off, stuff it in your handbag, dress the baby in something lovely and deny all knowledge of the magically disappearing robe!

TwilightSurfer · 05/01/2009 19:31

dizzy you'll just have to have another so the robe comes back to you.

buckets you are five hours ahead of me. it is 2:31pm here...what does my post show?

TwilightSurfer · 05/01/2009 19:35

ladies i ran across an area in our new HUGE grocery store. it was labeled UK. they apparently import stuff from different areas of the world and you're one of those places. i selected {{{drumrole}}} a mars bar and cadbury dairy milk.

TwilightSurfer · 05/01/2009 19:38

oh miamla don't be of saturday as it got cancelled
AND MOVED TO THE 24TH!!!

btw you new fb pics make you and yours look like the most incredible looking urban family. i full well expect that boxing day photo to be on the cover of modern living magazine.

TwilightSurfer · 05/01/2009 19:53

Sazzles I think I was multi-tasking a bit too much last night. My note to you made, in multi-parts, no sense. Sorry.

Is anyone else feeling a bit disconnected lately. My mind is all over the place. I'm having crazy dreams. The house is topsy-turvy. I can't get any one thing finished that I start. I NEED TO FOCUS! I NEED SOME QUIET! I NEED MY OWN SPACE!!!!! that'll never happen.

* positive energy all around * *

TwilightSurfer · 05/01/2009 19:56

enough sitting her chatting by myself.
there's work to be done around here.
and it's not going to get done by itself.
NO!
BECAUSE NOTHING GETS DONE AROUND HERE WITH ME!!

speaking of nothing getting done,
don't forget your health and well-being this new year.
the place to share and gain support is here.

TwilightSurfer · 05/01/2009 19:58

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing gets done WITH me here. LOL!!!
OH FREUD!

Correction:
NOTHING GETS DONE WITHOUT ME AROUND HERE!

TwilightSurfer · 05/01/2009 19:58

that's all folks........

CaptainCaveman · 05/01/2009 20:11

ts have you eaten the mars bar and the dairy milk? yummmmmmm You have to try a crunchie if they sell them.

Can't believe my baby starts school tomorrow. Can't believe I still haven't ironed the name tags in his clothes! . You would expect nothing less surely?

TwilightSurfer · 05/01/2009 20:12

JUST THE WHOLE CADBURY CAN'T YOU TELL?

CaptainCaveman · 05/01/2009 20:37

Hey ts or dizzy, seeing as you are both so skilled in finding things - can you locate me a tom and jerry lunch box? I promised ds1 I would ask you!

cyteen · 05/01/2009 20:43

Hello all, yet another chat marathon caught up on I don't dare look at all the pretty dresses after an overnight stay in London cost me an extra £60 Fleecing thieving bastards at the train company have changed their timetable so that peak time starts even earlier...I missed the peak time train back by about 8 minutes today The info people who informed me of this looked surprised when I shouted FUCKSTICKS! into the ether. So off I trolled, baby strapped to chest and rucksack heaving from back, to purchase my £60 single, only to be told that none of the machines were accepting cards today madam AAARRRRRRGGHHHHHHHHH fuck sake.

Going back a stage...

DS, DP and I went down to London yesterday to stay with my dad as DP had stuff to do in town today. Was a lovely evening until a combination of factors caused DS to go into total meltdown The poor little thing was bright red, screaming his head off. Was our fault really for not being clear about a few things (i.e. don't bring him out of bed if he wakes, stepmum, thank you...and although you mean well, don't assure me that "all babies cry, don't get worked up about it" - our baby doesn't cry, not like this, unless he's seriously bothered, so butt out). Anyway, finally got him calmed down and off to sleep at about 1am; he then woke up 3 times in 5 hours. Bang goes my lovely recuperative feeling

DP went off to do his thing this morning and I hung out with my dad, then went over to a friend's to catch up with her, her gorgeous new baby girl who is very aaahhhhhh tiny and pretty, and also another friend and her delicious 1 year old boy Was great. However, journey home with DS in sling was knackering, despite him being an angel all the way home. Glad to be at home even though it is beyond arctic in here; think DS is still a bit unsettled as he has needed shushing and soothing twice since I put him down.

Sorry for the ramble I'm off to eat some fruit! Am trying to cut down on cakey things

cyteen · 05/01/2009 20:45

Obviously I am still steaming over the train incident as that should say that I missed the last OFF PEAK train by about 8 minutes.

May all you Bristol meeter-uppers have better luck on the day!

CaptainCaveman · 05/01/2009 20:52

lol at you shouting fucksticks cyteen Although I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time. Thats quite a funny word come to think of it
Jeez, kick me off here to go and iron those labels in ds1's school kit.

Miamla · 05/01/2009 21:02

CC, iron labels woman!!! otherwise DS1 will come home from his first day at school with Joe's blazer and Fiona's skirt and it'll be all your fault!

TS step away from the chocolate! sounds like you're having a huge sugar high! cadbury's dangerous stuff!

cyteen i hope you've got a therapeutic glass of wine in your non-typing hand!

Miamla · 05/01/2009 21:04

sambo email me at miamla @ hotmail.com and we can sort out swapping numbers for our adventure next week

oopsacoconut · 05/01/2009 21:08

CC - this is the only one I could find so far

sambo303 · 05/01/2009 21:11

miamla okey dokey

If I achieve nothing else on MN, being the woman who brought 'fucksticks' to a new audience will make me proud

It's an extremely satisfying curse, particularly when ringing round the rafters of St Pancras.
