Lots of pressies for the dc. Luckily everyone knows i have big babies so ds's clothes were all bought at 12-18 months plus - so that'll be a few weeks time when he wears those lol.

After 2 weeks of ds waking up every night at least once (yawn) we had a goodnight christmas day when he slept through again but the last 2 nights we've had wake ups as he seem to be bunged up again. Poor little man. I know i feel all stuffy nosed and scratchy throaty so keep having to sit up to sniff loudly and swig water so it's no wonder he's asking us to lift him up and and me to feed him. As we're at my folks we've got him in with us after a good month of him in his own room...... Odd but kind of nice.

oops that's a lovely pressie

ann at your dp hugs.

cavey v eventful round your way then?!

TwilightSurfer · 28/12/2008 21:10

Oops YOU GOT A PUSH PRESENT!!! I hinted and hinted and hinted and hinted to DH but he never got the hint. How absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I'm sure it sparkles at you every time you reach for Poppy.

ataraxis · 28/12/2008 21:33

posting on here because if i don't I will really SCREAM at him and I don't want to. Bloody DS2 child. 10.45pm last night and now he is still fucking whinging. HE SHOULD BE AFUCKINGSLEEP.

I am now going to go upstairs calm and zenlike and see if i can finally get him to drop it.

TwilightSurfer · 28/12/2008 21:46

Have just scheduled myself for yoga tomorrow at noon. DH is home. YEAH! Then Tuesday at 2pm I get my facial. What more can I do for ME this week.

poppystocking · 28/12/2008 22:13

Glad to hear there were lots of good Christmases (infuriating DHs and non-sleeping/biting babies aside). Can I second/third/fourth all the thanks for everyone here for their thoughts/advice/support over the last year. DH and I were just reflecting earlier about how great 2008 has been and all of you ladies have really helped to keep me on the straight and narrow, Thank you!

Back from our Christmas soujourn south. Horrendous journey back - the usual 8 hour journey took 16 hours . Both girls fantastic though thankfully, although the early start from DD1 this morning did feel like some sort of sick joke. Have not even left the house today and feel shattered, despite DH having done virtually all the driving .

Many sympathies Ann with your DH. Mine 'manages' rows in a similar way. I always seem to end up apologising just so that we can get back to some sort of relationship even if/when I'm still annoyed about something. Hope things are better today and you don't/didn't get caught in the same ridiculous traffic getting up here.

poppystocking · 28/12/2008 22:23

Meant to add re: the stats list, how about dropping middle names of the babies? Where their known name is different, this is already reflected and would help with the anonymity side of things?

MerrySibhmas · 29/12/2008 00:19

Hello everyone-glad there were lots of happy times had by all the new babies. CC for your neice though. What an awful thing for her to go through. And Cyteen, family occasions must be really hard to deal with in some ways now. It's good to hear Joe was such a star.

DD2 sang for most of Christmas night lying in the middle of our bed testing out her voice. DS's peculiar bug kept re-appearing, so he was too ill to put out his stocking on Christmas eve. He took to his bed for an hour on Christmas afternoon and has been a bit low generally, though he loved his lego and opening presents. He wasn't ill enough to take to the docs but bowls of the bio-whatsit type natural yoghurt I had in the fridge seem to have given him a boost and the glands in his neck don't look like bolts any more.

DD1 has been diagnosing everyone with her new medical kit and saying 'I don't WANT to' at every opportunity.

The inlaws are here for a brief visit so I could spend the whole night on the AIBU bit of mumsnet if I didn't exercise restraint. AIBU to expect them to cook one meal, or alternatively clear the dishes from the table once in the 10 days they've spent with us since DD2 arrived? They need a rest of course and generally I love fussing over people but ...
Well, sleep is for the weak or the lucky ....

Dizzy I think the only cure for the teeth/feeding thing (for which there should be a wince emoticon) is to unlatch her and start again and stick with that until she learns to tuck the teeth out of the way.

Ann, your tipsy typing had me in fits. I hope things are better now that you are having your break. I think I posted before about the ishoos DH and I had while we were adjusting to DS's arrival. I remember the first holiday we had after he arrived was a particular flashpoint because DH especially expected the luxuries of a rest and undivided attention to happen as normal and it made the disruption caused by a refluxy baby more extreme.

I'm allergic to gender stereotypes but I do think that, on a practical level, men don't have the 'immersion-style' introduction we have to parenting and they will tend to opt out occasionally at the beginning when things get tough. (I'm omitting here the list of mistakes I made that helped to make things difficult in our case ) DH is a wonderful dad and we have a very strong relationship now, stronger I think because of the readjustments we made five years ago. I do think babies change the DNA of a relationship in fundamental ways. That doesn't mean it's ok for DHs to be ridiculous though ...

Is Seb feeling better by the way?

I hope all the babies shake off their coughs and colds soon.

MerrySibhmas · 29/12/2008 00:22

Here endeth the sermon.
Sorry about that.

NoroomattheCaveman · 29/12/2008 09:52

And now we'll all stand to sing hymn number 169....

NoroomattheCaveman · 29/12/2008 09:57

Good morning, all well in the CAve. Oliver seems much better although still sounds like a smoker.

Dneice stayed over with us last night - she still hasn't seen her dad since he took off with all her prezzies on Christmas DAy. He really is a nob of the first order.

Anyway. Does anyone else find the period between Christmas and New year a bit odd? It's like a kind of limbo between holidays. Dh back at work for 2 days.

dizzy & albs I didn't realise Dylan and Henry had got teeth . I don't know why that should be a surprise to me, they are 5 months old . I'm pretty sure Oliver is starting to teethe given the amount of chewing and drooling going on.

new years resolutioni ....I am going to give to a good cause and it doesn't cost a penny - I shall be giving blood regularly. The blood bank has a national shortage atm so, anyone want to join me?

NoroomattheCaveman · 29/12/2008 09:58

Resolutioni is obv the italian way to say resolution ahem....

oopsIstuffedaturkey · 29/12/2008 11:13

CC- I already do but you can't give until LO is 1.

DD was fab last night for the first time in ages - put her down awake at 8, she dream fed at 11 when I went to bed, woke at 4.30 fed and slept until 7.30 when she spent 30minute shouting at the curtains whilst I tried to wake up!

dizzydixies · 29/12/2008 11:21

CC am with you on the giving blood - fine idea and seeing as they come to our local hall AND my work it sheer laziness not to

ah crap the kids have just asked me if they can paint and I've said no as my dad, brother and nephew are coming (supposidely - they've not bothered to confirm) and the house already looks like a bomb site

have also just poured breast milk everywhere - serves me right for trying to express whilst catching up on here - stupid medula bottle only holds about 6oz so it was pouring over the top when I realised - only pair of clean trousers left now have dodgy looking mily spillage around upper thigh

poppy sorry to hear about nightmare trip home but delighted that you got back in one piece, we shall have to try to meet up soon

ataraxis hoping the calm zen like vibes worked and you're all having a lovely lie in

TS agree with poppy that we can drop it all now I think we're up and running - is it rude to have a bit of a cull or are some of those people on the list still posting but I don't see it?!

sibh thanks for advice, I think its my own fault tbh as if I feed when other two are around me she turns her head to look at the barney fun going on and takes my nipple with her [meep] shall grit teeth and bare it for moment

am also pleased to announce I managed the 3 S's last night, sleep, sex and shower in that order went to bed before 10pm (was shattered) all 3 girls slept through a little nookie when dh came in off nightshift and a shower before girls woke up [you may now all sniff again!!!]

right, send me wishes of calmness and control please as a day with my father and nephew may end in tears on all sides!

NoroomattheCaveman · 29/12/2008 11:49

With you on the 3s's dizzy - mine were in a slightly different order though

Thanks oops I didn't know about waiting until the lo's are 1 - guess I'll just have to wait until August to start my new years resolution .

I'm tired today, need some tape to tape my eyes open zzzzzzzzzzzzz

dizzydixies · 29/12/2008 11:58

1st Aug for the blood then CC !!!

right off to neck seom rescue remedy and remain calm

NoroomattheCaveman · 29/12/2008 12:07

I'm bloody cold. I'm off out for lunch with ds's, mum and dneice. It will be anything but calm and relaxing....

TwilightSurfer · 29/12/2008 12:28

well so much for sleeping. i must find a new past time between 9pm and 7am. reese was up at 2am then 4am then 6am. at 6am she just wanted to chat. now i'm a mother who wants her children to open up but 6am. and she can't even really speak yet. she's trying though. then dd1 hears the chatter so she's got to get up and join in. so now we have to get out of bed because dh is trying to sleep. get up and find all three outside chats glued to the patio door. look in the garage to find all their food gone and a bag of garbage broken into. RACCOONS!! how is it three really big cats can't keep one pesky raccoon out of the garage. now dd1 and reese are laughing at each other like two little girls at a sleep over. and i'm sitting here reading on another thread about a crap dh who wants his 42 year old wife to abort their unexpected creation. i should really just go shower....i stink. at least i can achieve ONE of the 3 S's today.

TwilightSurfer · 29/12/2008 12:31

i smiled and said 'ahh' while thinking i havnt slept in 4 days never mind a bloody lay in lol
right off to eat do something constructive

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 29/12/2008 12:42

sorry ts x post.
Sorry about your rough night, if its any consolation I had one too. Ds cried /whinged for about an hour from 1.30am

I offered boob as I always assume thats what he wants But he used me as a dummy and cried every time I took him off.
Very frustrating. Then just got back to bed and dd woke having been up till 10 pm. I curled up with her in her tiny little bed at 5.30.

Intended to saty for 5 min, woke up stiff and cold, went to go get bac in bed and it was 7.30am time to get up.
S0 ds not fed since about 4/5am ish. Hve been trying but he wont, when should I be concerned????????

TwilightSurfer · 29/12/2008 13:34

showered..............

morning no1

3 hours til yoga
3 hours til i'm childfree for two hours

TwilightSurfer · 29/12/2008 13:37

after my shower dd1 blindsided me with the following:

dd1 "is there another baby on the way?"
me "what dear?"
dd1 "is there another baby in line to come?"
me "what do you me...in line?"
dd1 "you know, after reese. are you going to have another baby?"
me "no"

TwilightSurfer · 29/12/2008 13:39

with that i will go crawl under a rock for the next three hours

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 29/12/2008 14:28

You can give blood at 9m if you're not breastfeeding but 12m if you had a caesarean (or a tattoo).

Been 'local' shopping and have bought a ridiculous amount of meat for some reason. Am going to make a 'vegetarian' lasagne with mince because DD says she likes the one at school and the local shops don't do quorn mince. Even if I had she still won't eat it (being so fussy at the mo, I am convinced she will have an eating disorder one day) so I figured I might as well just make what I want.

Managed to get Kurt to swallow some baby rice yesterday so will try some banana with it this avo.

Ataraxis have you tried the muslin over the head thing? Works best when you know they need to sleep.
