never mind... just discovered nipple is cracked/bleeding... reacted prematurely... I think pink must be blood from me, not him. relief.

Marthasmama · 18/01/2009 10:10

Ah motherhood - when bleeding from the nipple is a relief! My friend's LO vomited blood and she was on her way out to A&E on the instruction of NHS direct when she noticed her nipple was bleeding. One of mine is stil deformed from my sons attempts to remove it!

Honeymoonmummy · 18/01/2009 11:49

Ha ha MM! Any news on the trampoline front? I cant stand the suspense!!

I've just been for a lovely walk in the park with DH and Poppy. It's a lovely day!

I'm off this afternoon for a get together with all the other mums I did antenatal yoga with, along with their DP's for the first time, and of course LO's too!! Should be good!

Ekka · 18/01/2009 12:46

Sorry, can't keep track of all the posts. Star Q sounds fairly normal to me! Dd hated lying on her mat for ages, but ds will sometimes lie there for up to 45 mins and other times screams the minute he's put down. He is mainly a swiper of toys as well, though occasionally he gets hold of one and looks totally shocked (and often then hits himself in the head with it )

MM - I'm relieved to hear about the tummy time thing with your first, as ds HATES being put on his tummy and just flails around with his arms & legs rather than trying to push his head up.

CSWS yay for D's sleep - I'm so

We're having a trying time here - ds feeds every 2 hrs in the day and 1.5 hrs in the night so I'm shattered. He is also suffering really badly from excema and his cheeks are bright red and weepy today so we'll be doing a trip to the docs tomorrow to see if he has any other ideas of how to clear it up. His body is covered by a rash as well, which I hope is just related to the dry skin (have already done the glass test just in case of meningitis - I can still be paranoid even with my second ), but we're keeping an eye on him.... He's pretty unhappy today, so we'll see what happens . Xmas was great but I am totally shattered now, and quite glad the relatives have gone so maybe we can start to get into some kind of routine.....

Honeymoonmummy · 18/01/2009 13:05

Sorry you're having such a hard time Ekka

Marthasmama · 18/01/2009 13:15

Hello Ekka,

My DS had terrible weeping, bleeding cheeks when he was about 5 months old and horrible dry patches all over his body. The only thing that worked was steriod cream which I hated putting on him. But....it did clear up. He gets it a little bit on the backs of his knees in the winter but otherwise....no sign of it now. The eczema is probably disturbing his sleep pattern as it is so itchy & sore. I know what you mean about being paranoid with the second one. I'm just as bad, if not worse, with DD as I was with my PFB!!! My DD has been in a mood since she was born. She is super grumpy pretty much all of the time and I am starting to wonder whether I should be worrying about it!! I'm sure she's ok, you can tell by the tone of her cry that she's just in a bad mood!

Good to hear about the trampoline!

Ekka · 18/01/2009 18:04

Myjob sorry to hear about Naomi. Hope she feels better soon.... Glad to hear the trampoline survived though!

MM thanks for the reassurance about the eczema. Poor dsalso seems to be coming down with another cold so thas also prob making him grumpy.

Honeymoon - Hope you had a great time at your get together. We went for a walk in the park this afternoon & dd followed a cat all through the woods chatting away to it

loulou33 · 18/01/2009 21:09

glad the trampoline survived the night myjob. My mum lives down your way and she was not expecting such bad weather either. It was supposed to be relaly bad here but it was all quiet by about 10pm and no snow yet either - weather forecasts always seem to get it wrong.

Joe has cought the dreaded cough off ds1 and the poor lamb keeps being sick with it too. I can hear him groaning in his sleep so i think some calpol may be in order if he wakes up later.

CSWS - Joe got a toy butterfly for xmas and he loves it so they must be right . Not keen on next doors dog though......

star6 · 19/01/2009 08:28

Great news about the trampoline myjob!
Q grabbed a toy yesterday he's still clumsy and not really sure exactly what to do, but he's trying! He's getting so much better at shoving fists in his mouth, too

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/01/2009 09:05

All those who were of our 8 hours needn't be, as ds started last night feeding every hour, and ended feeding every 20-30 mins.
All this on top of dd refusing to go to bed until nearly 10pm, and even then only with dh sleeping in her room with her. Have to go and find a kiddyguard gate (expanding one) today to put at the top of her stairs, so that she can't just keep wandering downstairs as she pleases. We think she's jealous that ds is in with us, and is not dealing with it well.

Glad the trampoline survived myjob, and for activity centre.

Sorry to hear that Joe has caught the cough loulou. Hope he doesn't suffer much with it.

Ekka - has ds suffered with his skin all the time? Just a thought, but baby eczema is often caused/aggravated by dairy. I think you are bf aren't you, so am wondering whether you would be prepared to cut dairy out of your diet for 2-3 weeks to see if it improves at all?

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 19/01/2009 09:18

Oh, off now for our 6 week check (at 14 weeks!) and ds' 2nd set of jabs.

OP posts:
star6 · 19/01/2009 09:50

csws - gp suggested I cut out dairy b/c of ds's winding problems and constipation... I thought I was doing really well... then realized I had been cooking with butter all week (vegetables) and putting butter on toast each morning... realized the butter thing AS I was drinking a large hot chocolate from starbucks while bfing ds! lol. Need to try again.

OH, who was wondering about bfing in public? I use a cover called, "bebe au lait" (they ahve them online at mothercare and at the big mothercare shops). It has a strap to put over your head then a wire thing inside so that the sheet covers you and baby but you can see down to the baby and air flow is good - will try to find a link, but I'm crap at posting links. Maybe csws has one

Q loves being under there, warm and cozy and can still maintain eye contact with me - it's totally discreet and I use it everywhere (I'm VERY modest, so trust me, it's good!!). Best of all, it stays on, you don't have to faff about with it like a blanket or muslin and you can see baby whole time, but no one else can (except for his feet ).

hope that works!!
was it honeymoonmummy? can't remember, sorry!! just too busy at work to go back and check at moment

heather1980 · 19/01/2009 10:28

bad night here, i moved alex to the cotbed last night and he hated it, he ended up in bed with us again and was up all night, i'm shattered today .
i guess i just remember how good my dd was, she slept through from 10pm to 7pm at 9 weeks, and at 13 weeks alex will only go max 4 hours.

heather1980 · 19/01/2009 10:28

7am even!!

ronshar · 19/01/2009 10:39

Myjob I live on south coast as well. It was very windy & rainy all weekend wasnt it. We did get some sunshine yesterday afternoon but soon got back to the rain last night!
I too have to be very careful with my diary. Which is rubbish as I have developed a love of chocolate since being pregnant with DS. I also love porridge for my breakfast but only with milk.
Everything is conspiring against me at the moment.
William just refuses to take a bottle. It doesnt matter what is in it ebm or formula. He was taking a bottle with no trouble before xmas but everytime my poor DH tries DS just screams. My 9 year old DD has more luck, even my sis inlaw, who dropped by for a visit on Sat, managed to eventually give some ebm on Sat.
We went to watch Madagascar yesterday afternoon. I left DS with DH for some man time. I arrived back home to DS screaming and DH looking very stressed as DS refused ebm for an hour! A whole hour.
I am going to London on Saturday night to watch New Kids on the Block. (sad I know, you can laugh). How can I go knowing that DS is going to scream the whole time I am away. It will only be for 2 feeds but it is bedtime.
What can I do to get the little monkey to take a bottle. I am desparate. It took three days and me giving up BF with DD2. I dont really want to stop BF but I am feeling really trapped. I need some time alone to keep my sanity.
Any suggestions.
Sorry, a very me post but I am really at breaking point now.

ronshar · 19/01/2009 10:40

Heather it must be a boy thing. William still 2-3 hourly feeds at night.

heather1980 · 19/01/2009 10:44

must be, he's a bottle refuser too!
typical fella with a boob fixation

star6 · 19/01/2009 11:20

ronshar - syringe? Or a special feeding cup might work as well... just to get the milk in him...
I had to use "breastflow" bottles for a while as they are shaped more like the breast and there's an inner core nipple - it works more like a breast... he liked taht. Now he'll take a regular avent bottle... but barely... sometimes he still tries to refuse.

ronshar · 19/01/2009 12:41

SSShhhhh dont tell CSWS but I am considering giving something like first porridge to get him through a bit longer.
My first DD in the bad old days was on first foods at 13 weeks. No trouble with her sleeping.

RONSHAR my 1st 3 dd's were all weaned at 13 weeks too! This time round dd4 is bf and doesn't seem to want anything extra yet much to fil's disgust cue lots of "you wont still be feeding her when she is at nursery will you?" She tried a bottle once and wouldn't even put it in her mouth so will try again soon, dp keeps talking about us going out without the kids!
DD4 sleeps extreemly well, i change her nappy, put her in a sleeping bag and then feed her in m bedroom, put her in the crib and then she is soundo until about 2.30 has a quick feed and straight back down, feeds again at about 6 straight back down and then i bring her down when i take the kids to school I have 2 good sleepers and 2 bad!

star6 · 19/01/2009 13:57

oh csws things for 4months + were teething rings and some baby toys/things babies can sit in...etc. not food
