ann agree with buckets dont rid of them he will grow in to them. My dh is not keen on them as he says he looks like humpty dumpty.
I dont use them all the time though.
I went to tk maxx again today and got a huge totsbots sack of nappies. Not sure how many are in but, I had a quick count and got to about 18, but couldnt reach bottom (includes wraps, liners and nippas.

£25. Cant believe how excited I am to have alook when I get home. I must admit I love the tots bots

petitfiloudanceswithreindeers · 15/12/2008 16:40

Aagh can someone tell me why I can't read any of my threads anymore - help!

no1putsantaupthechimney · 15/12/2008 16:41

cyteen poor jOe is it colitis???

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 15/12/2008 18:00

Cyteen, I had this with DD when she was about 2. Doc said it was a sign of inflammation but not to worry as she was already recovering from the excessive pooing and was fine by then in herself. Obv with a small baby panic is usually sensible but hopefully Joe has already fought off the bug itself.

PF, it's because you're logged in with a new name. Do a search by your previous name then bookmark them whilst in this persona.

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 15/12/2008 18:05

No1, I saw those in TKMaxx, amazing prices. I'm just used to big nappies as Kurt is my second heavy wetter and weighs 17lb already! He was also crawling at 10wks so don't let anyone tell you they impede movement. Have realised a tummysleeper really needs the popper Motherease wraps at night as the velcro ones aren't tight enough at the tummy so oh dear, I need to do some more shopping!

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 15/12/2008 18:07

Technical question for those with laptops please:
If I have a wireless-enabled laptop, do I just need a wireless router to use the laptop around the house?

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 15/12/2008 18:17

buckets DH says Yes, as long as the laptop and router are of a comparable age. Also in pre 60's houses the wireless range can be compromised as the walls 'absorb' the signal. It works in our house c.1750 but not my parents c.1930

dizzyjingles · 15/12/2008 18:33

thank you all for your kind words - I don't feel worthy of concern though, honestly I'm not moping about weeping or anything am just having moments of feeling a bit blah or overwhelmes and as long as I know that they're happening and whats behind them then I think I'm in control of it

buckets we have to have a super dooper strength router due to ridiclious thickness of the original cottage walls and even then it can be dodgy in places was just from PC world and my brother (who is a computer nerd by trade) says get the best one you can as it stops you getting frustrated by lack of signal - maybe he knows if I get fed up I'll end up lamping expensive laptop out of window then beg him to fix it

CC 20wks?!?! REALLY ?!? good grief, thats worse that I can't even count how old she is, bless her. Cannot believe you're talking about going back to work. My paid matty runs out in March but am going to beg borrow and plead to be off the unpaid 3 months then add annual leave so effectively not going back till Aug - gets me through the school holidays without having to pay for 3 lots of childcare [meep]

Dylan in bed asleep and the other two were meant to be colouring in christmas cards but DD2 has just drawn with crayon all over dining room floor and her high chair - thank god for wooden floor - wee sod, I knew it was too quiet [grrrrrr]

DH on late shift so I'm going to get these two in bed and tackle the ironing

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 15/12/2008 18:54

no1 what a great bargain

cyteen hope Joe is ok, sounds frightening

re 2nd babies, dp said last night he wouldn't mind if we had another in 9 months (well, it was when we were )... I am

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 15/12/2008 18:59

obviously I've got to earn enough for another year off first - am thinking about going back to work early so we can get on with it - am I mad and shouldn't I just enjoy Felix first?

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 15/12/2008 19:15

sambo i went back to work when 6 weeks pg

dizzy hope you have a good bedtime with the little ladies . I have just had my massive Waitrose delivery so a bit behind here. DD1 is in meltdown after spotting crisps in the delivery (she has already had some (plus cake) at the playgroup party and at a birthday party this avo so she is definitely not having any more) but DH dealing with her whilst i am hiding breastfeeding

cyLENTeeNIGHT · 15/12/2008 20:28

Thanks all, especially Buckets, very reassuring Think he has got a touch of diarrhoea as was still pooing even at bedtime, but thankfully no blood in that one. Hopefully as you say it's just the end of a bug passing through him.

MerrySibhmas · 15/12/2008 20:42

Wireless broadband? Ye lot don't know you're born. We're on dialup and the National Broadband rollout programme stopped its last phase in the town 8 miles away. Does a wireless router work over an 8 mile gap?
Meanwhile I pedal away furiously.

Buckets, I forgot to say how lovely your DD's letter was. A really lovely mix of technology and magical thinking

DS is a lot better thanks VG. His cheeks are bright red though so I wonder if he has slapped cheek virus again, though you're only supposed to get it once.

On the bedtime routine, I read Sambo's message a week or so ago about Felix's new routine as motivation to try one here properly too. A quick bath at about 7:30 with a drop of lavender oil, songs in the dark with the older two and then down at 8 when the others drop off. That's working and she's dropping off fine, but we're getting the repeated wakings you were talking about VG.

I know DD did this at the same age and can't quite figure a way to stop it becoming really entrenched. DD2 nearly chewed my hand off today, so teething might be the thing.

Did somebody recommend a nappy rash cream beginning with 'm'-metanium or something like that? The totsbots original nappies have made DD2's thighs quite sore, and though I've switched to the second size, I can't quite get the skin to settle (though the lavender is helping.

TS How is the soy formula going? DD2 has v. sensitive skin, and a friend recommended Calendula cream which is based on almond oil and it does seem to be helping. It's good for the cheeks of the very fair older ones too now that the weather is so bad.

Apologies for rambling

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 15/12/2008 20:52

sibh we are having settling problems and repeated wakings. i am burying my head in the sand and not doing anything constructive really hoping that it is just a 4 month 'thing' and goes away soon

Metanium cream is magic - much better than sudocrem IME. In the UK you can get it at Morrisons and Lloyds Pharmacy but not in every supermarket

cyteen glad to hear Joe's tummy has settled down, you must be so relieved. I can imagine you sitting there chanting 'poo, poo' so you could check it was all clear of blood . Fingers x'd he is back to 100% now

FestiveGardenia · 15/12/2008 21:19

Aaargh it's bedtime and it's not working. I am downstairs listening to dp and ds. I've just fed him, but it's really hard listening to him crying even though dp is with him, singing to him, etc.

oops if you are really not using that book it would be truly brilliant of you to let me use it. Once I have mastered its methods and conquered this, I will pass it on to anyone else on the thread. Thank you so much. A bit fraught here last few days.

cyteen poor Joe. I like Buckets's words, "panic is usually sensible", but good to hear his last nappy seemed clear of blood.

FestiveGardenia · 15/12/2008 21:57

Too hard.

Gave him boob and he dropped off in 5 minutes with a smile on his face.

Not sure what to do for best.

WeWishYouAMiamlaChristmas · 15/12/2008 22:33

VG, i'm in same situation with DS re sleeping. let me know if you find out what solves it!

oops, he's got his MN detector switched on..

no1putsantaupthechimney · 15/12/2008 22:34

Just wrote a huge amount and lost it arghhh

Think MN must have realised I ramble a load of shite sometimes and decided not to show it.

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 15/12/2008 23:41

okay i've read but dd1 has been chatting behind me the whole time so i can't remember who said what.

that said...

soy formula seems to be doing the trick with reese but she's not pooping everyday like she was on milk based formula. that troubles me so will give the soy another few days then it's back to the doc for recheck.

baby whisper book is okay but did nothing for dd1. reese is a natural sleeper so imo it's all about the individual kid. it never hurts to try though.

blood stained poop would have me freaked out. ya'll seem very calm.

loving all the nerdy computer talk. makes me miss my past work life.

dd1 had day one of her two day christmas program today. she was so cute. my camera sucks though so i scored ZERO good pics or videos. will try again tomorrow.

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 15/12/2008 23:47

also i must confess i'm caught up in three other threads right now. one is on birth trauma. two are about vbacs.

very excited to hear about all the ttc news. after spending 13 months totally absorbed in the topic i feel very SMART in that department.

well reese just downed 8oz of formula and is still hungry....off to make cereal for her.

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 16/12/2008 00:05

reese just downed the cereal like she was a caveman devouring a turkey leg. i thought she might eat my finger if i got it too close. dh just laughed and laughed saying "good reese-e-bear". now she's ballled up in my lap, dummie sucking and eyes shut. poor kid was hungry!!

she got some baby leg warmers today. they really are cute. might have to get her a couple mor pairs.

desperately trying to do christmas cards. i have completed 10%......long night ahead me thinks.

dizzyjingles · 16/12/2008 00:46

why why why have I been fannying about on here waiting up for DH to finish his shift at 1am instead of either getting on with stuff of going to bed

am pillock

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 16/12/2008 02:58

dizzy i'm the crazy one here. it's 10pm and i've been sitting here doing christmas cards for hhoouurrss and i'm only 52% done.[loopy smiley][crosseyed smiley]

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 16/12/2008 08:12

Sibh have you tried the calendula cream on the sore thighs? Or just Vaseline? Through trial and error I've found it best to try all the cheapest simplest things first, combined with upping the changing times a bit for a while. As a precaution you could buy washing machine cleaner and descaler treatments, to make sure it's rinsing the detergent out properly. Another idea that won't hurt is to bung the next couple of buckets through a hot wash with white vinegar in the softerner drawer to clear any residue and zap any fungus.

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 16/12/2008 08:14

Morning - night not too bad after Emma went to sleep, only 1 wakeup. However VG i always feed her to sleep - seems to be the only way at the moment. DH managed to resettle her the other night when i knew she wasn't hungry (hour after about 3 feeds in quick succession) and i just felt empty

I have just woken her (at 8) to try and see if we can get into a better napping and sleeping routine as at the mo she seems to be like the duracell bunny

TS LOL at 52% specific of Xmas card completion. I am 100% [smug] (until someone sends/gives me a card and then i utter something like 'oh bugger, how could i have forgotten them and shuffle through my pack of 'end of line' cards to send and hotfoot it to the postbox )
