no1 I would deffo give calpol to help him feel better

no1putsantaupthechimney · 10/12/2008 09:24

just gave him some neurofen, he was smacking his lips together, and grabbed for some more
think he liked the orange flavour.

i dont mind rl name for me.

i am already thinking about baby transport, obviously dont need double, so only have big silvercross mmm.... or sling
is this reasonj to buy another pram

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 10/12/2008 09:49

no1 I have been giving Seb the occasional dose of Calpol when he's been really ratty with this cold. My reasoning is that if the Calpol doesn't help, it certainly won't harm him, but if it helps he feels better and I get some peace

cyLENTeeNIGHT · 10/12/2008 11:22

Sazz your night out sounds v similar to mine on Saturday - bliss to feel like more than just Mum, isn't it?

thanks for all the birthday wishes - Joe must have heard you as he went down at 8.30, woke at 2am and then went from 2.30-7am add that to the cheeky hour's nap we had this morning and i feel great!

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 10/12/2008 11:33

Cyteen - know what you mean about feeling like more than just mum. Said exactly the same thing when I was out with DP on Saturday night.

no1putsantaupthechimney · 10/12/2008 11:37

How sick do I feel dd was just eating a pack of raisins, and then gave dh something.
I said its rat dropping.

No idea where she got it from, the house is swept, and mopped regularly, so would have seen it.

Pest control man just got here, he said yes it is a rat dropping.

He said it looks like you have just got the one, which is a relief.

I cant believe it.

sazzles I believe the pest control man could get rid of your headache mmmmm....

no1putsantaupthechimney · 10/12/2008 11:38

Just realized what a bad mum I sound like first glass then poo, I do watch the dcs honest

ataraxmas · 10/12/2008 11:49

Veeery quickly (I promise to catch up completely tomorrow night.

Not on facebook (scary scary thing) but anyone who is planning on coming to Bristol can you email me on myataraxis at gmail dot com and I will get something booked up. The earliest I can be in Bristol is around 10.30, and will have to leave by 2-2.30ish to pick up DS1 from school. Hope that isn't too specific, sorry .

Hi to everyone , have to go to the second performance of DS1's nativity this afternoon, and have a million things to do beforehand but by tomorrow evening things should have settled down. Please don't fill another 3 pages in the next 24 hours or it will take me all night to read them .

WeWishYouAMiamlaChristmas · 10/12/2008 11:50

hmmm, i could get to bristol for £40 return....
any other londoners considering it?

i can't get my fingers anywhere near round DS's thigh! now is it that i've got small hands or is he a porker?! getting him weighed this afternoon so i'll let you know!

i'm loving this sleep malarky! DS is doing so well, only waking once maybe twice after 8pm so i'm having lovely couplely evenings with my DP

i really really hope i haven't just jinxed it!

no1, that's awful about the rat's poo.
oh and i keep meaning to tell you..i have a confession! i never really read your full name properly, just looked at the first bit so thought you were "number one etc.." not "noone etc"
I apologise profusely for my rudeness!

petitfiloudanceswithreindeers · 10/12/2008 12:33

Hello all
Re the meet up I'm like ataraxis and will have to be back to pick up ds1 from school (unless of course I can arrange a playdate - will think about that one) It is an hour on the train for me plus 15 mins drive the other end so I suppose that pretty much means I'm coming to Bristol for lunch!

Very tired today but not baby related. I woke up at 4.30am as the light was on downstairs - the weird thing is I definitely turned them all off last night before I came to bed. So then I lay there for an hour thinking was there someone downstairs/is there a ghost in my house etc etc and other rational thoughts..... I asked the dcs if they switched it on but they both said no and tbh they wouldn't go down in the dark - so it is weird.

cavey I think you just have a hungry lo - Toby is just bf and is sleeping through atm. Ff won't necessarily help - although it might. Both my friends dcs ended up on that hungry baby SMA stuff and giant bottles (the ones that are 12oz size) - she has big children (by that I mean her 3 year old looks like a 4 year old)

petitfiloudanceswithreindeers · 10/12/2008 12:36

no1 Don't worry about it - dd licked deicer off the car the other day - I couldn't get it out of her mouth but I did make her go and wash her hands (she was trying to lick the ice obv) It is really nasty stuff so I'm glad I caught her before she really got a mouthful....

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 10/12/2008 13:18

morning

reese has been on liquid soy formula for 48 hours and her dermatitis is very much improved. fasinating. she's also been well moisturized twice a day, a process that is offering it's benefits to my hands as well.

the change to soy didn't phase her one bit. she didn't fuss once. it is suppose to eliminate spit-up but i've not seem a difference yet. i don't like the spit-up with the soy because it doesn't rub nicely into my clothing; it leaves a spit-up mark that slightly brown.

must dash. just wanted to remark on soy formula since i think several of you are starting to back away from bf.

will chat more later.

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 10/12/2008 13:55

Still feel a bit bleugh, but getting there slowly

poppy i got Emma weighed this morning and she is 12lbs 15oz at 17 weeks so pretty similar to your DD2. She is hovering just below the 25th percentile which in my mind is just perfectly fine. DD1 was on the 50th percentile all the way but as you say each baby is different and she may well just be a wee little girl. I have no intentions of weaning early and would only worry if she suddenly 'dived off' the charts completely. I also think Emma is behind DD1 in her development although i'm sure part of this is in my own mind as the first 6 months with a 1st baby goes past in a blur i think. After all that rambling, what i'm trying to say, very badly, is that she sounds just perfect and you are doing everything right by her and formula/weaning is likely to make very little difference to her wellbeing

No1 Eeewwww at the rat{s}. Hopefully your man can get rid asap. I THINK we are only on mice here which i can just about cope with - if i saw a rat i think i would faint . Can you check on his ability to deal with headaches as i still have a dull throb

Re: last nights menu we had:

Nibbly hand made cheesy melt biscuits to accompany aperitif
Mushroom soup with smoked onion veloute
Smoked haddock & spring onion risotto (me), Ham hock & land watercress terrine (DH)
Pigeon breast with white bean and Morceaux sausage sauce (me), Partridge & pickled pears (DH)
Cheese & handmade biscuits (me and DH)

It's making my mouth water just writing it

Blimey, that was a long one . That's what comes from having a sleeping babe on your lap and a napping DD1!

NoroomattheCaveman · 10/12/2008 13:59

Thanks petit, I'm really clueless as to what to try. He is practically inhaling his bowl of porridge so I might try offering him a second meal in the late afternoons too.

I have a plan (sort of) to go hardcore one day next week and refuse to bf until he gets hungry enough to take the bottle. Have bought some spouts instead of teats - they worked for ds1. Just got to pick the day....

Am very of your Bristol meetup. hmmm

petitfiloudanceswithreindeers · 10/12/2008 14:20

cavey Def try another meal I think - how much does he weigh now???

poppy agree with sazz - STOP WORRYING! Unless she slips across two or more centiles it isn't a problem.

TS Glad Reese's skin is better - you have to watch their teeth with the soy formula (or so I've heard) - but I don't think any of us have got as far as teeth yet

Toby is sleeping for Britain today - better wake him up - he is obviously having a grow but is going to be starving as he last fed at 10....

petitfiloudanceswithreindeers · 10/12/2008 14:22

cc btw if you do go to ff, then my sister swears by the Tommee Tippee natura latch teats and bottles - they are sort of boob shaped (the teats I mean) - have you tried those?

WeWishYouAMiamlaChristmas · 10/12/2008 16:44

my little porker has almost doubled his birth weight. 16lb 7oz today (19wks) Its no wonder i can't put my fingers round his thigh!

oopsIstuffedaturkey · 10/12/2008 17:14

Dh was supposed to be away for 2 nights but at 3pm I got a 'where are you?' phone call - He had decided he couldn't leave me alone with all that needs doing so he squashed today and tomorrows meetings together and moved one to the new year. Just to make me love him more he brough KK's 6 selection - 2 christmassy ones - cream filled and christmas puddingy one then 4 others including my fav. custard filled one.

DD weighed today at 14+5 a huge and whopping 11lb 9oz. There was a 6 week old little girl who's mum was worried about whether BF was working her DD was 8lb 4 at birth now 12lb 12oz it was great to see the look on her face she was so pleased.

going now before someone hits me with something for eating KK's on the thread

WeWishYouAMiamlaChristmas · 10/12/2008 17:25

wow! what a lovely DH you have there Oops!

poppystocking · 10/12/2008 17:55

What a fab menu sazzles. Hope your head's improving now. Thank you so much for your reassuring chat re: DD2's weight. Sounds like we're in the same boat with our DDs. Saw a friend today for the first time in a while with her DS who's 10 days older than DD2. He's 17lb+ and just a totally different size. Amazing how different they can be. Right, will shut up on this. Sorry all (esp pf)!

Poor you with the rat no1. . Hope it's chased away soon.

Interesting re: the change of formula TS. DD1 had (and still has) terrible skin and we tried every cream out there, but never that sort of formula. Hope it continues to work for Reese.

WeWishYouAMiamlaChristmas · 10/12/2008 19:03

poppy, if its worrying you, which it obvously is (or was pre sazzles wise words) then don't feel you have to keep quiet, ok?

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 10/12/2008 19:29

Oh I just can't get excited about Krispy Kreme! But DH & I are planning a trip to local Harvester in the new year just to have their 2foot high ice cream sundaes so I aint no saint.

Popped into Whittards today and they still have the halfprice china yippee! Bought as much as I could carry with a baby strapped to my chest and will repeat the exercise tomorrow! I also have a lovely pale blue shabby chic platerack on its way. So that's about £90 on completely unnecessary kitchenware but as we won't be able to replace our 25yr old kitchen for another 25yrs, I've got to make the best of what I've got eh?

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 10/12/2008 19:30

Miamla, have you seen this one? £34.50

WeWishYouAMiamlaChristmas · 10/12/2008 20:24

your link didn't work but £34.50 sounds better than £40.50!

isn't there anyone else travelling from London? would be good to travel with someone...
