Well, Emma has finally just taken the bottle after waking at 9.15am - she is very stubborn though just like her Mum . She is now being rewarded with a lovely BF and she looks drugged with it, bless her. I think i need to keep the bottle up regularly as we are out for a whole day in Jan for my birthday and i don't want the poor mite starved and upset for my sister

LOL at your DP alieight, i bet he thinks he is being very cunning and you have no clue what is on the cards

ann how rubbish about your DP's work . Can he just book hols anyway or say that he needs to know in order to book cheap rail tickets? [grasping at straws emoticon]

cyLENTeeNIGHT · 09/12/2008 11:17

hello all have read through but there's waaaaaay too much to comment on so will just say that i am loving all the pictures of DCs - beatutiful beautiful children all round, well done August ladies (and their partners, i suppose )

it's my birthday today, woohoo! so Sazz can you update my stats to reflect the fact that i am now 33 plz?

had a wonderful birthday weekend with posh meal, fine wine, adoring DP etc. Joe was an angel for the grandparents as well, earning us mucho brownie points. had to take him for his 3 month jabs today though so my birthday present is likely to be a sad, poorly baby have already enlisted the help of Captain Calpol (i feel like a proper mum now, having managed to unscrew child-proof lid drop spoon and swear before rinsing detritus off pour out and administer with one hand while holding yelling baby in the other).

hope you are all well!

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 09/12/2008 11:55

sazzles have tried to get DP to do that but for some reason he doesn't get the idea that I'm asking him to actually take holiday days to cover it.I think he feels awakward having just started there to then start 'getting stroppy' as he calls it, about having time off over Christmas.

dizzyjingles · 09/12/2008 12:36

its a chrsitmas miracle ladies I tell you a MIRACLE

all 3 slept through and Dylan woke up at 6:45 so I was up and showered in time for the school run

am a bit as was supposed to be seeing Poppy and her DDs today but cancelled as DD2 and Dylan are snottery and coughy, they still are but at least they slept

back later, Cilla Black on the telly has just made Dylan cry and I have to do a shop, haven't been out in days and the cupboards are bare - will catch up tonight whilst DH watches spooks and I pretend to check the banks

SevenRottersPottering · 09/12/2008 15:27

Happy Birthday Cyteen . Hope you're having a lovely day and Joe hasn't been too upset by his jabs.

That's fantastic news Dizzy , certainly sounds miraculous after the unsleeping weekend you had! 'I hope you don 't come down with the lurgy now, although it's not so bad when you can dose yourself with whisky or whatever.

Am very about the Bristol meetup, and that VG can get a return from Dublin for £50 when it's £120 from Leeds or £150 on the train and would take nearly 4 hours .

It's even more expensive to Scotland I'm afraid, perhaps I should put in a request for a more central meetup. I hear Yorkshire's rather nice

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 09/12/2008 16:14

Ann i guess we'll never get our men to understand planning or the fact that asking for what you are entitled to {ie: holiday) shouldn't be all that difficult!

Happy Birthday too Cyteen. Sopunds like DP has treated you just right . I have updated stats and they should appear on the next posting

Rotterpotter I worked in York, Leeds and Scunthorpe when pregnant with DD1 and the trains are a nightmare. Mind you it took almost 3 hours to drive from here and i'm 45 mins north of Bristol so that is about a 4 hr drive as well [exhausting]. Yorkshire is lovely BTW and has one of my favourite hotels (Middlethorpe Hall) just outside of York

Great news about sleep dizzy, you deserve it. I have just been back to bed with Emma as she wouldn't settle in her cot. Mind you i fell asleep and she was singing to me

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 09/12/2008 16:22

gosh its quiet today, I've actually managed to read up to date and write a bit

dizzy how wonderful, hope the sleeping continues

cyteen happy birthday - hope injections went ok - we had 2nd ones today and all seems well so far

rotter what horrific prices, no wonder people drive, its madness

ts how festive your living room looks, love the fabric on the sofas too - got to get the energy to get in the loft to get the decorations down. Had blood test today as nurse doing DS's injections thought I looked peaky - may be an iron deficiency (or pure laziness)

ds has started waking 2 or 3 times a night this last week, ony being placated with food (but not long feeds, just a few mins) my mum says to start him on solids - I want to exclusively bf the recommended 6 months, but is this not possible if you have a big hungry boy?

cyLENTeeNIGHT · 09/12/2008 16:28

sambo if he's not feeding a lot then i doubt he's waking from real hunger so would hold off weaning for now. i think night waking is common in young babies anyway - my DS still wakes up 2-3 times a night on average.

thanks for the birthday wishes sadly DS is not having a happy time, was ok this morning but when the calpol wore off he screamed inconsolably for the best part of an hour was horrible, especially as he's not usually screamy so i'm not used to it. the poor little thing must feel really grim

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 09/12/2008 16:32

Great NOrth Meetup - good idea!

Bristol Meetup: I can get there 10.47 or 11.47, am I right in thinking it's a v short walk from Temple Meads to Cabot thingy (and is it pronounced Cabbott or Cabo? (beforeI embarrass myself on the day}

*Buckets - it's Cabbotts. only a 10 or so minute walk.

Well today is one of those days when pre DD I would have just slept all day.
I had to meet a fencing man at the new house and waited and waited and He didn't turn up. When I rang he wasn't in and no-one was supposed to have booked in appointments so he didn't come - so back to waiting for him tomorrow.

DH goes away for work tomorrow for the first time since DD arrived. I have to drop him at the station at 9am so an early start.

Cyteen HaPpY BiRtHdAy

It is strange that DD has her last lot of jabs on my birthday too, CHristmas eve! Just what I will need a poorly baby for Christmas.

Well done DIZZYGIRLS I can 'see' the spring in your step Dizzy.

DD's bumbo arrived today for Christmas - I want her to have it NOW but DH said we have to wait.

Sambo I would wait if you can. He may well be thirsty in the night and needing a 'drink' rather than food as such. When DD was coming down with her cold she wanted lots of little feeds - I now realise it is because this cold makes you very thirsty.

oopsIstuffedaturkey · 09/12/2008 16:55

DD sitting on sofa with play frame infront of her trying to watch the telly under her toys. Everytime she catches my eye she grins and goes back to the toys!

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 09/12/2008 17:19

Definitely Cabot with a 't'. 10.47 sounds good, i'll be there in the morning

VG Emma has had a bottle from a few days old due to her reluctant BF I was expressing and topping up via bottle. However recently I have been lazy and just BF and she has got out of the habit (never been overy keen mind ). I have been feeding her all day in the hope she will be so stuffed she won't need a feed when we are out this eve [hopeful emoticon]. Sorry to hear DS2 is fussing today and hope he is enjoying Blue Peter. Like Poppy, Emma is also enjoying TV, currently Holby City

oops how long is DH away for?

OP posts:
oopsIstuffedaturkey · 09/12/2008 17:25

He is only away for 2 nights but It seems a bit much with everything going on at the moment. Poppy is obviously having a new skill day - she just scared herself by blowing a raspberry now she finds it very funny but occasionally still gets a fright and I need to laugh at her then she is fine.

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 09/12/2008 17:31

These things always come at the worst time don't they? Are you staying in the new house now or still between the two? Blowing raspberries sounds very cute, Emma is still practising knuckle chomping

Happy birthday Cyteen! Hope the little one stops screaming soon We've had jabs today too, mind you Marianne has been grumpy for a few days now - teething possibly? Lots of drooling and chewing too so that's my best guess...

AnnVan I was looking forward to the London meet too! Suppose Bristol is fair enough if that's easier for all the well-organised, frequent posting people! If you ever make it to London I'd be up for a drink - not quite the same I know

Hullo everyone else, and what beautiful, funny, talented DCs we all have on this thread!

oopsIstuffedaturkey · 09/12/2008 18:05

No still living in the old house amongst boxes which I have to say is preferable to living amongst dust, paint smells, builders (strangely enough he is called Bob) so no real move until the 16th. I would rather we got it all done now than wait and do it whilst we are in. DD's room being done tomorrow - all white with a butterfly wall.

I have swimming on the 13th at 12 so can met for a coffee earlyish in the morning it will take an hour for me to get back to swimming (cold and flu allowing.)

dingdongmerrilyfromhome · 09/12/2008 18:16

Re: Bristol, if we showed up at 2pm at the shopping centre would this be too late to at least catch you and say hi before you head off again? If so, then will look again at travel plans ...

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 09/12/2008 19:40

Yeah!!! Finally know what's happening over Christmas - DP's office will be closed 25th December to 4th January. So we'll be in Scotland the week of New Year's.

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 09/12/2008 20:36

So Oops, nosy question but I LOVE remodelling houses, what exactly are you having done to the new house? And how did you get all those tradesmen to a)show up to quote, b)actually send you the quote and c) be there at exactly the right time? I am supposed to be getting quotes for replacing our bathroom but can't face the bleakness of people not showing up when they say.

MerrySibhmas · 09/12/2008 20:45

Fab news about Christmas Ann - it will be great to spend it with your family.
And happy birthday Cyteen. Buckets - I'm guessing it will be fairly easy to get people to come round now that work is so scarce. We're embarking on stage two of remodelling the godforsaken wreck we're in and went with personal recommendations for people to work here. That made it easier to get a good quote, and meant we had people who were really likeable and friendly to the kids.

Our plumber offered, on behalf of his wife, to take in the older two if we ever needed to rush off to Cork while I was pregnant which is above and beyond the call of duty I think ... He was here so much he got quite sad saying goodbye to the kids on his last day and keeps in touch His wife is calling in to see DD2 next week. Less find a tradesman, than phone a friend I think.

MerrySibhmas · 09/12/2008 20:52

DD2 is refusing to sleep during the day unless we are on the move or she is in the sling, and is still v. windy and uncomfortable. The baby massage is helping (especially Dizzy's round the tummy move which produces instant results in terms of noise and comfort), but she is only happy being carried around which makes everything else impossible.

I think it's her cold that's causing it but I'm really wary that she is going to get stuck in this pattern. She is so lovely, and it's hard to see her so uncomfortable ...

oopsIstuffedaturkey · 09/12/2008 21:01

Buckets - I am a born NAG most are through the builder we used when we previously did an extension. Also tradesmen DH uses/knows through work. As for quotes they all are pretty good and do deals if they work together. The whole place needed stripping, filling, removing dog chewed bits, new stairs, bathroom, boiler, re-painting throughout. We are also doing the kitchen but are waiting until next year for that - I need my kitchen for Christmas and they are on 18week order at the moment (i'm fussy and want a particular colour granite )And trying to persuade DH glass worktops might be nicer.

dizzyjingles · 09/12/2008 21:11

oops I'm with you on the nagging can I just put in my unasked for 10pence worth re your bumbo - get the wee one in it as soon as possible as they're hardly in it enough as it is - all of mine girls have mammoth thighs so bumbo was short lived for us!!

do you know I can't close my hand round Dylans thighs - she's a wee chubber as well

sibh would love to take credit for that but tis standard massage am glad its eased though and I'm sure it will pass - as a trapped wind sufferer myself there is nothing worse

ann great news about christmas I love it when a plan comes together!!!!

cyteen happy birthday!!! hope you're getting spoiled by your two boys !

very re meet up, although have remembered I flew into bristol once for a wedding in Cardiff - was nearest we could get
