Wow I'm first on today! Essie - Luke is still uninterested in food too. He mouths stuff and he eats about three weaning spoons of stuff and then cries for milk. He liked his 3 spoons of cauliflower cheese goo.

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 20/12/2008 16:10

Its a bit tumble-weed esque on here today isn't it? J is still refusing all food too. This has been going on for 4 days now. He is still bfeeding though (when asleep obviously) so I'm not too worried. I mean they will eat at some stage, I've never met a 12 year old who is exclusively bfed!

hollyivypoppy34 · 20/12/2008 17:40

it is very quiet but assuming lots doing pre xmas things... had bit more success today with food as tried it at lunch when less tired/more hungry and dh did it who takes no prisoners (its not his pfb.. so as vintage dad he is used to baby's ways )

now watching baby einstein

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 20/12/2008 20:28

It is eerily quiet on here!

Ethan likes his breakfast and lunch but by teatime he's lost the plot so he generally has milk instead then!

Just got both apartments finally finished, dh and I have been working till late every night when the boys have gone to bed to get everything done, now I need to get ready for the arrival of Mum and Mil on Monday.

Jollyjoseyjinglebells · 20/12/2008 20:34

Hi Guys had a quick flick though and saw the lovely messages for OLi thank you.

Well All has gone really well, had a bit of a barney with them after the op, long winded story that I wont go into as my head is mince!

Anyway few probs in recovery due to brain damage she cant control temp very well so the sedation made her very cold.

for Rolf and anyone that wants to know. She now has a gastostramy, which is a tube that goes straight into her tummy and makes things much easier to feed, she can also be slowly fed top ups over night on a pump to reduce the volume we have to give her during the day. They blew her tummy up with air, poped down and endoscope made a tiny hole and poped the tube through, there is no stitches or anything just a little cover.

She has started feeding really well and has been very settled today as they kept on top of pain relief and got the pins out her arms and legs so she is happy and I have left dad tonight to have a night off as Im Buggered

No kids so having a glass of wine a shower and going to pop up to my neighbours.

Hope to get home tomorrow is she tollerates increase of overnight pump volume.

%gomad had a skim through to see how you LO is as I was thinking about you when in the hospital, hope things go ok when he is being monitored. If he has had bad reflux he could now have a phycoligical block to eating. And does he got very tense/stiff and bend? Oli goes like a brick banana and sounds like she has a chest infection.

She also got a present from some Aberdeen footballers and Dr Carl Kennedy from Neighbours and some reject from Joseph came to meet her yesterday.

I have to say with all Olivias problems, a couple of days in that place has made me see how lucky we are, there are some very desprate people, who are so happy with there lives, its so humbling.

Night speak properly soon xxx

Rolf · 20/12/2008 20:42

I took my first "proper" step towards weaning today (ie other than giving her my apple core or a bit of banana). I gave her some steamed carrot chunks which she was very excited about. She gagged and vomited at one point but was undaunted - don't think she swallowed much but enjoyed herself.

We have got our tree up now and it is lovely. It's the biggest we've ever had and totally out of proportion with the room but we love it!

Hope Oli is ok.

Rolf · 20/12/2008 20:47

cross-posted, Josey. So glad the op went well and that Olivia is making a good recovery from it. During DD1's first year she had a lot of appointments at the local children's hospital. You're right - very humbling. Lol at "some reject from Joseph"

bitofasnowqueen · 20/12/2008 20:55

Josey, really glad op went well. 5gomad hope things are going ok with you.

Busy doing Christmas related things today so knackered and now off to put feet up with glass of wine. Bliss!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 20/12/2008 22:57

As always josey I am in awe about how positive you are doing.

Things are picking up here, he is still abit iffy about eating but feeds are gradually increasing again so hoepfully will have gone up ther percentiles again.

DD on the other hand is coughing so much at night that she is throwing up, and refusing to sleep in her bed, so she is camping on playroom sofa, I had her Thursday when she didn't go to bed until 4am, DH had them both last night (DS has taken to screaming when he wakes up and we had guests in) so it is my turn tomorrow and then we take it in turns until they both have settled down or guests stop arriving which apart from Christmas EVE, Day and Boxing day is every day through until 3nd Jan. I will take her to Docs on Monday if nothing changes.

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 20/12/2008 23:01

nearly midnight on a Saturday night and just finished mopping - how sad is that?

Josey - so pleased that Oli's op went well, I'm sure the reject from Joseph did her the world of good!!!LOL

Rolf - your tree sounds lovely. Mine is unique!!! As in it's tall, very wide but with very few branches...but the boys cut it down in the garden today and carried it in through the snow so I couldn't refuse it...one day I'm going to have a tree with branches that don't sag under the weight of one bauble and one that doesn't have to go in the corner as it's bald in the back!Funny that, Ethan's bald at the back too

Snowqueen - enjoy your wine.

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 20/12/2008 23:07

5gomad - hope tonight is better for you. We have guests from now until 17th Jan so I feel for you. Got 8 arriving from Australia tomorrow!

NoRoomAtThePenguin · 21/12/2008 08:14

Amber - We've got cauliflower cheese goo too, will give that a try today.

Took Ryder to Giraffe yesterday and he had houmous with veggies and nan bread and ate loads. We were with friends and their one year old and Ryder pretty much as much as her! He doesn't normally do this, but knows when to perform. He also ate lots of lettuce, which I seriously recommend for photos of BLW.

Neenz - When pregnant and very niave I considered the bottle/food warmers that plug into cig lighters in the car. So unecessary for me as I don't drive (!) but an idea for you and Essie maybe?

Josey - Good to hear from you and your news. Is it too embarassing to admit I used to fancy Dr Carl Kennedy? Let's move on, I saw Gareth Gates yesterday, he still looks like a gonk.

How was last night 5gomad?

Deb - I guess Xmas is always a bit mad for you - at least you're guaranteed a white one!

DH is in bed enjoying a lay in whilst I try amd clean the house before friends come round for lunch... It would appear Ryder is a football fan as he is transfixed in front of match of the day!? He's managed to wee on me three times today already...

DingDongAlipalisOnAHigh · 21/12/2008 08:50

Morning, we have Match of the Day on here too this morning. P is bored of his lazy parents lolling in bed so DH has taken him to the bathroom for Ps other favourite spectator sport: watching someone have a shower. It means that I am in bed with a cuppa at quarter to nine: heaven.

Josey, pleased to hear about Olivia's progress. Hope she continue to recover speedily from the op.

Thanks for the thoughts Katyjo and others on iron in BM. V interesting.

Last day at PILs, flying home this evening. It is v relaxing here, except when SCD is on and everyone bickered! MIL has an Ikea Antilop high chair that she is sharing with another granny friend in the village. It is fab and makes BLW much easier than on my lap. Now looking forward to collecting our Antilop from my parents at Xmas. What a bargain for

spongebrainbigpants · 21/12/2008 10:40

Morning guys,

josey, great news that Oli's op went well and she's going to be home soon. Please explain why Dr Carl Kennedy is in Aberdeen though?!!

PP, yes, it is very embarrassing to admit that you used to fancy Carl!!

Deb, your description of your tree really made me laugh!

Ali, the antilop chairs are fab! When I look at my friends' fancy contraceptions I am sooo pleased I went for the cheap and very easy to clean option!

Hello to everyone else, must dash cos off out for a healthy walk again and to use our wonderful baby backpack that Alex loves!

bitofasnowqueen · 21/12/2008 11:51

Morning all, quick post again as about to commence the great christmas clean up, when my humble abode will sparkle from top to bottom for the first time since.... I got pregnant! .

News from here is that weaning going well. S is lapping up all his purees and taking full bottles of milk again. We put him in his highchair for the first time today and he loved it! We've got one of the wooden folding style ones that JL and mothercare both do. It's handy for our kitchen as it folds away when not in use, so I can still hang my washing.

Wine was great deb thanks, and sorry to hear things still challenging at your end 5gomad. Hope DD is better for Christmas.

Right have caught up with everyone on this page, but no time to go back now.

Is everyone organised for Christmas?!

Deb have visions of you stashing Ethan in the corner to hide his bald patch! .

Well done you for managing a healthy walk today sponge. I've not managed one for a while. Will get over the excesses of Xmas and then make a fresh attempt to get back into shape in the new year . I'll only have about 11/12 weeks till I go back to work I think by then .

Sponge how are you getting on with your flexitots? Mine arrived yesterday so about to stuff in machine to get them up to absorbancy. S starting to grow out of his stage 1 ones I think.

LOL at Carl Kennedy penguin

Nothing better than an out of proportion tree Rolf. HAve I told you all already how half the lights aren't working on my tree .

< Deb appears through the mist> Helloooo is anyone there?

Snowqueen in answer to your question - no I am not ready for Christmas.Tonight I have to continue to get ready for Mum and Mil arriving tomorrow, make up their photo albums, make beds, clean etc...
Tomorrow, drive to airport to pick them up, food shopping for Christmas and last minute presents, more cleaning and tidying and bed making.
Tuesday -my Birthday!!
Christmas eve - might get round to wrapping up presents, every year I say I won't leave it until Christmas eve, and it always happens.

LOL at hiding Ethan in the corner to hide his bald patch!!!!

Ali - glad you had a good time up north.

Sponge - that highchair is next on my Ikea shopping list, I was given a fancy reclining one by a friend and it's useless, when you put the tray on it's at eye level for him and there's no way to adjust it. Which backpack did you get? We'll be wanting one after winter, I think he's a bit too exposed in one atm here.

Penguin - yes guaranteed a white one but to our horror it was raining today at village level - even worse was that we had Australian guests arriving for a white Christmas. There is still sow here and loads for skiing, it's just gone a bit slushy in the village.

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 21/12/2008 20:21

Hi all, Josey, glad to hear the op went well and hope Olivia is doing ok with the recovery.

5gomad - also glad to hear that S is doing better with his feeding.

Jamie is still refusing solids, although he had a fantastic time today throwing cheese, butternut squash and pear, and toast all over the kitchen floor as I tried to get a morsel of something past his lips. Heres hoping for a better day tomorrow.

NoRoomAtThePenguin · 21/12/2008 20:36

Ryder ate pickled gerkin today...!?

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 21/12/2008 20:40

penguin - was it the one you took out of your cheeseburger? Lol

FiveGoMadInDorset · 21/12/2008 21:06

DD currently fast asleep on sofa we are just about to transfer her to her bed, will sleep down in play room just incase she wakes, she thrw up again last night but coughing doesn't seem so bad. For all you first time mothers, bribery works very well in getting medecine down.

S is heaps better and has actually finished 2 bottles today which is a first. I do feel a fraud though compared with Josey

NoRoomAtThePenguin · 21/12/2008 21:23

I wish it had been from a burger Deb! It was very funny, his saliva glands went into overdrive. I'll be trying him on chillis tomorrow.

5gomad - at what age can you start bribery?

A whole day at work tomorrow...may pop on at lunchtime.

spongebrainbigpants · 21/12/2008 21:54

Hi, me again - it is very quiet on here isn't it!

snowqueen, flexitots are very good in terms of containment, absorbency, etc, but I still much prefer my bumgenius for sheer ease of use. I find changing the wrap/nappy combo a bit of a pain (what do you do with the soaking wet nappy while holding a wriggling child and trying to put the new nappy on so he's not lying on the wrap?!). I'm thinking of changing half my flexitots for a load of new bumgenius tbh.

Deb, we've got a Vaude and it's fab. Photo on my profile if you want to see it in action!

Vaude backpacks

Alex's night waking is getting worse. No solids since Thursday cos of the bug, and he is sleeping very badly. I'm soooo tired.

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 21/12/2008 22:41

Gorgeous pics Sponge especially the one of you and Alex, there is such love and delight on your face. - you've got me all moist eyed again now!

n night, hope you and 5gomad have better nights tonight

DingDongAlipalisOnAHigh · 21/12/2008 23:43

Peter ate brussel sprouts today . Pleased to hear Ryder is having fun too.

Back home from PILs. I managed to leave my handbag on a luggage trolley at Heathrow though . It had keys, money, 3 passports, a mobile in it. Only realized when we got home and there was no bag there. The taxi driver had loaded the bags, I had been strapping P into his seat. DH was not supervising the taxi driver so my handbag got left dangling on the luggage trolley. Anyway, it was handed in minus £100 , but at least we got all the other stuff back. Poor DH had to drive back to the airport from home to collect it though which is a good 25 miles each way. I hate doing things like this.

Night all.
