Puree it was my fault about the London email as I started a new email but used an out of date distribution list. Missing you out was not my intention so many apologies. Penguin and Essie are coming to Guildford on Friday, I suspect it is too far to travel, but you would be very welcome.

Essie - feeling your pain with the bottle crisis. Sounds like you have done all the logical things. I don't think you will have a Bitty issue, I imagine that Iestyn is having a wee phase and he will get over it in a matter of weeks. If you are feeling anxious about it and giving him lots of bottles to try do you think he could be picking up on that tension? Maybe try a bottle holiday - what is the memory span of a 6 month old? I also wonder if it could be a type of separation anxiety. I only do EBM once a week when I go to pilates because I am too lazy for the faffing. However P is very much into only napping on the boob, he wakes when moved and wails pitifully. This has only happened in the last month or so. These are just musings that have occurred to me whilst pinned under my baby...

neenztwinz · 10/12/2008 17:59

Yeah, that's sweet about adding family members. We don't really know anyone well enough who go to church other than family. I thought three godparents (2 male one female for a boy and other way round) was the done thing too. Esther has 3 Theo 2 GPs. I think you just have to do what suits you (but not 6!!)

Josey, that is great! Oli seems to be doing very well, she is obvioulsy a fighter. Esther is seven months old and can't roll over!

My two are both on 9th centile for weight, they were 15lb 14oz and 14lb 9oz last Thursday (at 30 weeks old). they were 6lb2 ang 4lb8 at birth

neenztwinz · 10/12/2008 18:01

I've just noticed Esther has a blood blister or some sort of mark on the tip of her tongue. Could she have been biting on it with her teething? It couldn't be me burning her with food could it?

hollyivypoppy34 · 10/12/2008 18:03

puree I can't keep up either - so is it just lunch in guildford on friday (I can't make it) -when was the giraffe lunch? and good luck for baby pearls...

re layering edie usually has vest (long sleeved for last few days) top/trousers or babygro , cardigan and fleecey snowsuit/hat and cosy toes to go out. I'm an expert on layering thanks to lack of heating but is now fixed (thanks for askign josey)(I resisted kissing the plumber alhtough was very grateful - years of having three sugars in your tea and chain smoking does nothing for a man ).
sybil your 3 god parnets things sound more usual (can see why you think its a bit ott to have six neenz) - we've got to do probation with our church - fair enough as its a faith thing but I'm a bit as suspect its more to do with weanign out the hopefuls who just want to get into faith school next door (which we don't as edie down elsewhere). is that cynical of me - I know churches have every right to take this kind of thing seriously?

essie I can't believe I missed that chance to volunteer.. I'm not sure I'd pass the kyle test though. but sorry to hear about the bitty thing - did nanny really not help (rhetorical question there as clearly not)?

ah edie only 16 and couple of pounds so not hgue - all other nct bubs are 18 pound plus so she looks titchy (is same size a the twins in teh group who have an adjusted age of about 16 weeks).

hollyivypoppy34 · 10/12/2008 18:04

blister more likely biting neenz.. your tongue goes sort of white if you burn it if I recall correctly

hollyivypoppy34 · 10/12/2008 18:09

and thats great re oli rolling *josey( not such hot news re teh night vomit though ). Has anyone else baby been visited by the poo fairy lately - I thought it was a bug but it woudl appare that was a nice regulated nappy regime is now some sort of seasonal poonami thing (sorry for TMI but doesnt seem to be a bug).

Jollyjoseyjinglebells · 10/12/2008 18:11

AH she was 15lb10oz today so much and such, I wouldnt worry F looks perfect and not underfed, he will just be like D, I was told by my pead, that anything on the centile is normal and shouldnt be worried about, as long as there is a steady increase and the weight doesnt take a nose dive without explination(ie illness)
Oli is a bit mix and match she is 75th height, just over 25 weight and her head is about 0.4, but that is because her brain isnt growing the way it should due to the damage.

Oh Im just so proud of her today, she was on her tummy for a while also and she is managing to lift her head up for nearly 30 seconds at times now, maybe one day she will get there!!

Neeze could it just be a swollen taste bud, they sometimes look a bit agressive when you start weaning.

I have just done my Xmas food shopping online, it reminded me of us all last year moaning about what we couldnt have lol!

hollyivypoppy34 · 10/12/2008 18:21

that actually sounds quite sensible josey -after all you'd not worry if older kid was not growing so fast if everything else ok so why is it differnet for a baby?

katyjo · 10/12/2008 18:24

just popped onto say hello.

Crawling at 10 weeks - positively backward, Mia is learning the violin and is on grade 5 already!

hollyivypoppy34 · 10/12/2008 18:28

edie has been accepted to dance the lead in the next royal ballet prodcution but I'm not sure she'll find time from studying for her mandarin a level

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 10/12/2008 18:35

neenz sounds like a sucking blister on E's tounge to me although Josey's explanation sounds reasonable too. I'm sure you didn't burn her or you'd have heard about it!

neenz poppy and josey Thanks for posting their weights. I think I'm more concerned because Fraser was a big baby at birth (9lbs), but that has more to do with my ability to store fat than his (he takes after his father, as does my DS1. I wish I was the same) He's pretty even on the centiles - on the low side for both height and weight (although better for height) so I'm sure he's fine - I just have worry moments!

poppy Fraser has a bug that's causing poonamis - my godson had it in Germany too (he's 14 months) and it was more noticable at that age. Duncan seems to have missed it though (fingers crossed).

josey Olivia's really making some developmental jumps isn't she! Good girl!

glad to know that crawling at 10 weeks is backwards. Fraser's currently wrapping my christmas presents for me - he's better at fine motor control (although I wish he hadn't eaten some wrapping paper earlier - maybe that's why he's on the small side - not a lot of calories in paper).

Jollyjoseyjinglebells · 10/12/2008 18:36

PMSL you lot, I challenge AH to tell this woman at toddlers some of these things that her friends babies are doing

I think that it is probably by the age of 2 when they stop checking the growth they would have an idea if there was anything wrong they needed to deal with sometimes I think I just need to shut up lol

Jollyjoseyjinglebells · 10/12/2008 18:40

AH Oli was the same weight as F and still is, I know she uses double the calories to move but your lo never stops. Plus I really think the creme eggs where the cause I wonder if we could puree some

bitofasnowqueen · 10/12/2008 19:08

Creme eggs, mmmmmmmm. Did I mention I had one the other day?

OP posts:
hollyivypoppy34 · 10/12/2008 19:48

aww can't we wait til after christmas for the creme eggs talk but I suppose it is allowed in context of weaning...

edie has gone up and down the centiles Ah -she shot up from 50 at birth to 94 at 6 weeks but down again...

to celebrate heating again might rifle through the good wine while dh is out and open it.

have had 2 more nanny cvs - one looks v.promising (got a new agency who were so nice and confirmed my hunch re others being a bit toppy on salary quote) but other one is a wtf - this person has never had a nanny job for more than 3 months (admittedly she is very experienced) and done loads of differne thing (her last one was some kind of designer).. that hardly speaks to me of someone who wants sometimg long term plus once again she wants a job now (fair enough) and job doesnt start for a couple of months - I am kicking myself for my naivete in thinkign this lot any different from any other recruitment agency (they clearly aren't )

hedgeHogfather · 10/12/2008 20:20

god you lot talk, Have had a very busy day with DH and Isaac together.

Saw a CM today and she seemed lovely, but am I making a mistake only seeing one and then going with her? None of the other ones I contacted (at least 15) has got back in touch with me over the last two weeks - AIBU?

Isaac has played with yet more banana today seems to get smeared everywhere.

josey I am quite jealous of Oli rolling now, Do I have the only baby who is quite content on his back/front and won't roll although this does mean I don't have to worry about the power cables that litter the floor of my house!!

Re Godparents - I don't have any (neither do any of my sisters or brother) as I was never christened. DH has 2 sets. FIL keeps asking when we are going to get Isaac christened but I think it is a bit hypocritical if you are not a regular church goer so we are going to have a naming ceremony sometime next year (probably).

AH Isaac was 8lb at birth and is now 15lb 3oz at 24 weeks

All this talk of advanced babies and mine is happy on the floor removing his socks and sucking them with his thumb in them

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 10/12/2008 20:26

HH thanks for posting Isaac's weight. I'm feeling much better tonight than last night (when I got out the weight charts and looked at F's spectacular decline through the centiles). Also, don't sweat Isaac not rolling - he might be one of the brilliant ones who skips crawling and starts walking at 10 months (seriously). Fraser likes sucking material too - he would think Isaac is having a great time.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 10/12/2008 20:27

Don't know what DS weighs, but he is skinnier than DD at that age. On the other hand DD has shot up to over 98th percentile on height and has slimmed down.

hollyivypoppy34 · 10/12/2008 20:36

no you're not hedgehog if she seems right go with her... I'm not planning on interviewing loads of nannies if I find the right one in next week or two.

am also with you re naming ceremony but dh wants madam christened

bitofasnowqueen · 10/12/2008 20:37

Evening all, can I have your ideas for a Secret Santa present here. Am a bit stuck, would like to get something nice and not just a smellies gift set that ends up in the back of the cupboard (I have got a bathroom cabinet full of minatures I never use).

Can't join in on the weight chat as I haven't had S weighed for ages.

Hedgehog I agree with you on the christening front tbh, and I think a naming ceremony is a lovely alternative if people want to have a celebration for their little ones.

Paro - did I remember to email you my address for the food pots? Brain like a sieve these days...

Jollyjoseyjinglebells · 10/12/2008 21:00

Is there somewhere close to your work where you could get a voucher for a manicure, she could have it done in her lunch?

Dont envy Oli with her rolling, when I say she can do these things they are very very different from they way your babies will do it.

AH can you discribe it as you have seen the way she moves?

would limited range, major effort and consentration sound ok?! she cant suck anything, cant get her feet up or hands to mouth or grip very well, but she does move her limbs, just now she is mostly moving like a baby of 3weeks old. Rolling is totally amazing for her, the belly to back was such hard work for her, back onto her side today though seemed a very natural movement, unlike her others.

I just think she is fab!

passroundflourymincepies · 10/12/2008 21:17
