DM we are going to The Black Swan in Ockham - about 20 mins drive from us (just off the A3 the other side of the M25) Its really nice (quite expensive) and child friendly - I have been for Sunday Lunch before. We should go!

I think you will be pleased with the reuseables DM - as you know we use them with M but for the xmas week we used the Nature Care ones (as we didn't have enough room in the car for all the reusable nappies!) and they were RUBBISH in comparison - leaking and they smelt horrid. The reuseables are much much better - they hardly ever leak and never leak out of the wrap - I think you will be pleased with them.

Right - gotta go, DH is becoming envious of MN as it gets more of my attention than he does!

Will catch up in a mo, but Buzz....www.usednappies.co.uk is a fab site. I've bought and sold and have not been disappointed. I've always put things on a buy it now price and it's all sold really quickly, although one or two of my more obscure items didn't sell.

The classified section on here can be worth a punt as well.

and.....Can I have everyone's experiences please

MerryCRICRIstmas · 30/12/2008 22:10

Vbab and Twinkling Hope you've had better days today. Agree with advice given - keep talking on here if it helps. This is not an easy time, having a new baby tests the most rock-solid relationships and as Dozy said, some men just go off the rails a bit. Hope things improve soon.
Daisy How are you feeling today?
Dozy Hope Tiger is better soon. E has her jabs on Friday and I'm dreading it.
Merry at the lack of support you've had from HCPs, especially as you have CFS to cope with as well. My six-week check with the doctor was a joke too though - she just quickly asked how I was and if I wanted her to check the episiotomy site. I politely declined Fortunately my HV is very good.
MonkeyMargot Glad you got to your parents' for Xmas in the end. of Plumski's night-time sleeping pattern. E seems to be regressing atm. We do have a bit of a routine during the day though fortunately. I'm interested in how you and Choc get on with the cranial osteopathy. One of my NCT friends took her baby for treatment and was very impressed. E has had a few screaming fits late in the evening and I feel so helpless when it happens that it would be good if I could find something to ease whatever is troubling her. I had a ventouse delivery too.
Hana I'm the accidental AP as somebody commented the other day! Still co-sleeping and wearing E in the sling, although I've cut it down to afternoons and evenings now so progress has been made. I also let her help herself to my boobs when she's in the sling although I think she snacks rather than having a proper feed. I make sure I sit down to let her have a good feed when she's not in the sling. How do you keep track of how much F has had to eat?
Ceebee E was born at 6.30am so according to your Mum's theory she should be a good sleeper... If only!
I'm also up for another London meet-up - as Obs said, I'm meeting her and Autumnlady but it would be nice to meet up with everybody else too and also meet the twins! Somewhere I can get to by car would suit me better too, I don't mind driving but don't like the thought of struggling around London with E at the moment. At least I have just the one DC...
Hi to everybody else

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 30/12/2008 23:18

not had a chance to catch up; the young man is being demanding.....sheesh, you'd think he was a baby or something

Was also thinking about our other missing ladies.

What of DrsWife? Roca? there are lots more as well, but too tired to think.

cricri, feeling better, tonsils almost back to normal, but throat still sore and nose streaming.

DS2 hasn't had a poo since sunday morning.....it's gonna be scary when it finally happens.

sorry, that was a bit random!

tomorrow laydees

ChocOrange05 · 31/12/2008 07:34

Daisy I too am waiting for a poo - haven't had one since last Friday - hopefully DH will still be at home to enjoy that one!

M woke at 2am and 4.30am last night so am feeling tired - and now I know he is eating too much at night as we got up at 7am and he's still happily gurgling underneath his playgym showing no signs of hunger. How do I break this getting lots of food in the night cycle (I have tried cuddling him instead of feeding but he cries so I end up feeding him). Dozy and other GF followers, any ideas?? And if non-GF followers have any ideas they would be welcome too!

Good days all, and a happy NYE.

tistheCEEBEEtobejolly · 31/12/2008 08:05

Choc if only I had the answer to that question!! I have been pondering on that one myself as Sam wakes up twice and has quite a lot of milk both times and then doesn't have so much for his first feed of the day - he also doesn't 'dreamfeed' very well - maybe 2 oz at the most at 10pm - hence why he wakes at 1 etc. I wish I knew how to break the cycle...will wait with baited breath to see if anyone has the answer

JingleBuzz · 31/12/2008 08:44

Morning All,
Cheers Daisy for that site I will check it out
Dozy re the nappies if you are interested I have

10 x Kushies all in ones with 10 Boosters in pale unisex colours
They are all in one nappies with the waterproof bit attached. they are quite bulky and take a bit of drying.

6 x Tots Bots towelling in white with the fleecy insert in Size 1 4 of them are imaculate and bright shiny white, 2 are a little bit shabby as they were second hand when I got them.

1 x Baby Bee-Hinds hemp napy with purple poopers, this is a hemp one size nappy with the adjustable rise etc and a long and a short hemp booster.

Mother Ease birth to potty nappy, I hardly used this one

Diddy Diaper newborn nappy which will probably be too small

1 Nature Babies Stuffable Nappy with M wrap - again this has the adjustable poppers on the wrap.

If any take your fancy give me a shout - I have photos I can send.

Ceebee will def have to sort the northern meet up very soon. I'm dying to get out and about on my mat leave.

Merry at your care level esp with 2 babies. I agree you should complain its just getting the time with 3 babies

Choc your NYE plans sound lovely

Hope everyone has a fab time tonight.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all and may 2009 bring us all happiness, full nights sleep and healthy happy babies and mummys x

littlesaintNIC · 31/12/2008 13:11

Hello!!!!

Just out of hospital AGAIN!!!!

Took J to emergency doc on Sunday lunchtime. He went blue in the waiting room. Doc rushed to him, gave him oxygen and called an ambulance.

The oxygen turned him into a different baby!!! I had my James back and he was lovely and pink by the time we got to hospital.

He's RSV positive, probably didn't shift it fully from the last time and so it's reared it's ugly head again. Also has bad guts - glow-in-the-dar green poos, unlike any I've ever seen. AND the poor little man has lost his voice, completely!! WHen he cries his face goes red, his mouth open, little tongue going like the clappers but not a peep!! It's as if someone has muted him!!!

Home now, much better but a very scary time.

It was sad that I recognised half the staff and they recognised us. But the good bit was that the ones who'd looked after him last time jumped at the chance to deal with him again so we had familiar faces helping him.

Sorry I haven't caught up. I need to keep a close eye on him as I can't hear him unless he's coughing / choking

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! No trips to hospital in 2009 please......

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 31/12/2008 13:35

Oh, Nic, sorry for your little Niclet . Having had a bad experience with DD that needed an ambulance, I can understand just how scary it must have been. wishing him healthy happy vibes for the New Year.

Choco.....at this age he still needs to be feeding at night. It's his way of keeping your supply up with his demands. The hormones associated with milk production are at the highest levels at night; babies know this instinctively hence the night feeding. If he didn't need it, he wouldn't do it basically. I know you are doing GF, but she really knows diddly squat not that much about the mechanics of BFing. I don't mind the night feeds in themselves; it's the being wide awake and smiley or grizzly for hours that is getting to me.

Bumble has started greeting me with a smile when he wakes up; it's lovely

right, am off to feed the monster, then change all the bedding and clean the house...can't start the New Year with a messy unclean house.

Have a good one and I'll talk to you all next year

littlesaintNIC · 31/12/2008 14:20

Choco. You need to stick to the times in GF - don't wait for him to become hungry. You will still need to night feed but, just before J got ill again, I had hime down to 1 night feed. You need to get all the feeds in. He will soon learn. Sometime he won't take much and that's fine, but keep at it. You can't reduce his feeds yet, he's too young. In time you can do the old 'try water' trick. But, as GF says, some babies will need a night feed for many months and you can't break / deny that.

Worth reading the stuff at the back, the bits in 'changes to make' in 4-6 and 6-8 weeks.

littlesaintNIC · 31/12/2008 14:23

Thanks Daisy. Just about to feed him now, he stopped feeding altogether in hospital and was starting to dehydrate. He was hungry but just could feed. Tried breast, their bottles, my bottles, formula EBM - nowt!! I was panicking big time. It got very close to tube feeding again. But, after 30 hrs of very little intake, he started to take small amounts of breast. He's on half his usual at the moment but that's ok as he feels shit so doesn't wanta big meal.

AMerryMariAndHerHappyNewTwins · 31/12/2008 14:37

daisy, lol at not being grumpy about night feeds just the 'awake' bit. can sympathise entirely. ds1 used to wake 4x per night, but could handle it - 10 min feed and back to sleep. these 2 also feed quickly (my milk literally sprays out so it is VERY fast flow), but they stay awake for ages grumping or in dd's case, screaming. for those of you with babies with intermittent colic, mine have been a lot worse the past week. I don't know why or what it is, but was comforted to know other babies were going through it too. Dd is on gaviscon now, she has been in so much pain. Gonna stick with gripe water for Judo. Just giving her first dose now. Please mummynic and obs, how do you get the babies to drink it? She spits most of it out or else chokes...

...sorry for your experience mummynic. you've really been through it with J. poor little thing...and poor you too. i hope he gets well soon and kicks that horrid virus.

thanks for all concern. i don't know how to compain about it though! who to? P and hospital are on one borough (waltham forest) as had ds1 in this borough. now moved just up the road and in another borough so HV is in newham.

had a massive emotional one this morning. huge argument with dh. he was being nasty as i wasn't considering 'his needs' when i gave him a crying baby at 5am because they were both crying and i couldn't handle both of them. dh said everything revolves around me and my needs! and [angery] lost it with him and screamed at him to get out (a few times as he was not getting out). dad shouted at me for arguing whilst ds1 awake (though we were in bedroom) and i screamed at him too. then sobbed. mum came in and gave me a hug and i couldn't stop sobbbing. blimey! can't be doing that everyday. anyway, dh and i have had good talk and cleared things up...also had talk with mum and dad. still feel low, gotta get the AD's. hope i'm not relying on them to sort me out! even if they take the edge off the negative emotions it will be a big help.

happy new year, one and all! let's hope by the end of next year is better!! babies should be ALL sleeping through by then, bar teething and infections.

AMerryMariAndHerHappyNewTwins · 31/12/2008 14:41

that is GP and hospital are in one borough

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 31/12/2008 14:47

merry for your barney with DH. It must be so tough with two and a toddler; it drives me nuts when DD and bumble are kicking off simultaneously as I can't decide whose need is greatest.

I think men get confused between our needs and the baby's needs. My whole raison d'etre at the minute is baby and it isn't something I can switch on and off. We had a bit of this when DD was born, but as DH was away a lot he didn't see it. I think now, with dc3 he finally gets it by virtue of the fact tht he was there sharing the load for so long. I'm quite that he is back at work and has the outlet to switch off for a bit.

i hope that makes sense; another crazy night last night so I may not be making sense.

JingleBuzz · 31/12/2008 14:51

MummyNic sorry to her J has been poorly again. Hope h gets better very soon.
Merry we are all allowed bad shouty days don't feel bad about it, you have loads more on your plate then anyone else. The Anti Ds can't do any harm, they are most definately worth a go.

Well our might out is cancelled as DS1 has come out in spots today so it looks like he has chicken pox, its going round his nursery. So Jay will likely get it too, never mind i'll just hope both of tem are mild!

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 31/12/2008 14:56

message from ruth to say happy new year and love and hugs to all

her boys have had lurgy and dh hogging the pooter with GTA4 that he got for crimbo.

she needs a laptop i think

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 31/12/2008 15:27

Don't know if anyone saw this? It's quite interesting I think.

littlesaintNIC · 31/12/2008 15:54

Merry have she had a bottle at all? I was lucky that Niclet (love that daisy) had used a bottle when first born so he doesn't have any 'nipple confusion' issues. However, at first I syringed it in - 0.5ml squirt into side of cheek. Took ages to give 15ml in total and so I changed to bottles. That said, the nurses in hospital were giving him 2.5ml of calpol in about 3 squirts so he could probably take more in one hit now and it wouldn't take so long. As she's new to the taste you'll need to do it slowly and make sure she's upright - prop her up against pillows or get someone to hold her while you do it.

J has been off gaviscon since being in hospital as he's sleeping at a 30 degree angle and was taking very little so reflux wasn't an issue. I'm going to keep him off it until it becomes an issue again.. Part of me wonders if the underlying issue is RSV rather than reflux and he's had a chest infection for 5 weeks instead but then the signs were classic silent reflux... Oh I don't know, I'll play it by ear...

littlesaintNIC · 31/12/2008 16:00

Thanks Buzz - need to go and sleep as he's just dropped off bless him. He's sooooo gorgeous and I am so in love.... I am so pleased he's fairly well now. Just hope he can beat this RSV soon - to think he's had it all this time - outrageous!!

littlesaintNIC · 31/12/2008 16:30

Daisy - have done the survey - very interesting - thanks for highlighting it!

ChocOrange05 · 31/12/2008 17:18

Merry sorry you had a rubbish morning (middle of night ) but glad you and DH sorted it out - I can't imagine how testing it is with 3 LO's as we have challenges with just 1!!

Thanks for comments on night feeds Daisy and Nic - I am just confused by his randomness in that sometimes he'll go till 4am and other times he'll only last till 2am (after 10.30pm feed). Also he guzzles a lot in the day but is also very sicky so I'm not sure if he's compensating for this in the night? Either way, after a weigh in this morning, I am pleased to know my little man is a healthy 10lb 10oz now, right on the mark for his age!

Nic poor J - he's a proper little fighter by the sounds of it - I hope he feels better soon!

Buzz sorry your plans for tonight are off. You could plan a chicken pox party now instead of an NYE one.

I just put M in his cot for the first time - he was wide awake and smiling in it but looked so tiny - although I can't wait till I get more sleep again I am already feeling the time where he is so little and cuddly fly by.

AMerryMariAndHerHappyNewTwins · 31/12/2008 17:28

thanks nic. dd also had rsv about 5 weeks ago. this reflux business has got a lot worse the past few days and am wondering now if the rsv is back after what you say. but she is not coughing like before and doesn't even seem to have a cold. my opinion is that the reflux makes the rsv a lot worse as they bring milk back up and then choke on it. ds2 also had rsv but he was not as bad in terms of the choking, breath holding and blue episodes because he does not have reflux though he does get a lot of indigestion and puke a fair bit, but doesn't seem to make the same noises as dd, so I don't think he has it like she does.

we are trying to get her to sip gaviscon from a small cup but it is not working, most is coming out. will try and get syringes from pharmacy tomorrow. she was taking bottles as well as bf, but has recently decided she doesn't like bottles and it is quite a struggle to get her to drink EBM from bottle let alone nasty tasting gaviscon!

littlesaintNIC · 31/12/2008 20:50

I never tried cups - I think that's more for older babies. Get the syringes - it's best!!

tistheCEEBEEtobejolly · 31/12/2008 22:43

Just checking in to say Happy New Year to you all - it has been a total pleasure getting to know you all in 2008 and long may we continue chatting in 2009
