hana, I was excited to see your name on the short list for the Christmas name competition . I think you've had all our votes!

oh, and oversupply and hindmilk/foremilk imbalance are the same thing btw

I have joined the ranks of the co-sleepers, but with a sidecar cot that F only spends half the night in.

heartmum, try not to beat yourself up about Z, these things happen and I'm sure you know that babies are pretty bouncy things. It's heart wrenching though. DS pushed himself backwards off his changing table when he was little and like you I'd only turned my back for a second to put the dirty nappy in the bin.

vbab78 · 17/12/2008 18:11

QUICK POST ... will try to catch up on last 2 days later if DS and A allow me .

On my own tonight as DH in London for his department do . I'm at rock bottom as I'm depressed and exhausted due to all the normal stuff but didnt get my lie in last weekend which has been a killer, I went to bed 10.30pm as girly meal out (1 glass of wine which I hated), A was up 2.30am for feed, 4.30am as pooed herself then started disturbing at 5.30am then up at 6am. Feel so bad at mum's earlier I asked if I could have half hour (that's all sleep) and did but said get me up of A hungry before (as I have changed formula amounts and water). I came downstairs to mum feeding A with too much formula to water!!!

Can this make A poorly?

Now feel even more s**t as I know it has upset mum who was trying to help me and give me longer to sleep and had no idea about the amount changes but misheard me saying the wake me up bit.

ME, ME, ME just want to sit in a dark room and cry at the mo but havent got time for that with 2 kids to look after. Also DS hobby horse xmas pressie I bought him from ebay only does 1 of the 2 noises so dont know what the f*k is going to happen now. Probably have to f*k about with post office, cost of return and DS probably not get a replacement for xmas .

barbareebaa · 17/12/2008 18:15

Thanks for the link Daisy!! Thats very interesting - will keep an eye on it - looks like it could be normal or an imbalance or an infection - only time will tell!
I should seek out a bfc - all my probs are due to bf, I should have sorted it by now, I think. If bf was better (not ouchy) I would be such a happy girl, wouldn't care so much about getting up/ staying up half the night. Just getting up in the cold knowing I'm going to be sat there in pain for several hours

ooh moany moan!

Misdee Have you done your talk - how did it go?

barbareebaa · 17/12/2008 18:19

{{{{hugs}}} Vbab xx

chocolategal · 17/12/2008 18:24

barbs i think you are doing a great job continuing on with the breast feeding despite it being so sore so you are allowed a moan and sounds like your wee man is thriving on it!

vbab im sure one feed of the wrong mix wont cause A much harm, hope you get things sorted with DS pressie

dingdongDOZYMAREishigh · 17/12/2008 19:40

hey all - all quiet in dozy house...jut waiting for DH to come in with salad to go with the ribs I have made (well marinated!) I have jsut spent a small fortune on the letterbox website getting stocking fillers for the DC's. I wanted to get Tiger a really special rag doll for xmas and got this one -

www.letterbox.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_461_31_69421_-1_10446_offer-rag-doll-spotty-py jamas# and shall call it CP in honour of monkey's adn because I think it is a fab name!!

bACK IN A SEC, DH just come inn!

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 17/12/2008 19:45

barbs, I really feel for you as I was at rock bottom with BFing DS. however, I'm sure that if I'd had some proper support rather than my useless HV I might have worked through it and continued feeding him, so calling the NCT helpline to get in touch with a local counselor might be a good idea. Alternatively, if you go to any NCT groups or are a member, there will be a contact number for a counsellor in the local "Rattle"

I can't remember how many weeks W is now, but Bumba was six weeks on Saturday and I can honestly say that it's just starting to get better now

vbab, I'm sure a one off feed won't do any lasting damage. She might be a bit thirsty because of it though, so maybe some cooled boiled water would be a good idea? {{{{hugs}}}} to you.

AMerryMariAndHerHappyNewTwins · 17/12/2008 20:13

barbs here is calendar link calendars
There are different sites, but these are nice. However, you may have missed the delivery, do check, some other sites may have a later deadline...

I am feeling very low tonight. I have a bad cough and cold, and to top it off, the rash is back with avengeance. There is a lot more rash than normal skin on my back, boobs and arms and it is incredibly hot and itchy.

THIS TOO SHALL PASS. Thanks, Daisy!

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 17/12/2008 20:16
TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 17/12/2008 20:18

sorry about the rash merry. Is there nothing you can take for it?

dingdongDOZYMAREishigh · 17/12/2008 20:26

PMSL at daisy.....(as my house is silent but for the sound of Rick Stein as DH in bath and kids are all sleeping!)

You do realise that my payback for good babies comes when they hit 2 and half..... still, suppose it is better than stroippy teens (god forbid that's tiger, she won't have a hope in hell as I know all the tricks!!!)

dingdongDOZYMAREishigh · 17/12/2008 20:28

merry Just read about your rash - wasn't it pregnancy related before? Could it be to do with your hormones (or is Dozy stating the blooming obvious )

AMerryMariAndHerHappyNewTwins · 17/12/2008 20:33

Yesm daisy, i take 6 piriton a day which is the max, but it's too powerful for the meds at the moment. maybe in a day or so, it will start toning it down...

ds1 has the same thing and has only eaten weetabix since friday! 1.5 weetabix at breakfast and then nothing for the rest of the day (except today he had a small yoghurt and half a cereal bar). he is really acting up, being very tantrummy, unsurprising, but i feel like i can't cope. i think he may be using food for an attention thing, but it is not helping him to get well. luckily dh is around. i think the twins have it too, they're v snotty, not feeding and have slept all day as long as being carried. bah, i am moving to australia. i can't handle winter illnesses. daisy, how did you do it when it was your whole household in the last days of pregnancy?! Amazing woman.

is anyone NOT getting their baby something for Christmas? I have not even thought about the twins as they will not care/ know! But now I feel bad about it.

vbab78 · 17/12/2008 20:34

thanks for all the hugs ladies .

BUT on top of my "downer" now feel worse as from 7.30-8 was trying to put DS to bed and he was constantly screaming and in between A was crying. In the end I became the worst mummy ever after trying everything and I left him to cry at the safety gate at the top of the stairs for about 5-10mins but felt longer. He eventually went but only when he put his dressing gown on . Think he just tired himself out.

I think that maybe apart from DS coming down with something and also trying it on I think he might feel left out. Just that Mon and Tues I have been out so DH looked after both kids so when A crying (happens alot 5-8pm) he probably doesnt get much interaction like normal. Of course tonight with DH being away I couldnt give DS time either so 3 days of no nightime cuddles and play before bed.

Now A wont settle and i'm trying to eat an overcooked fish pie.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 17/12/2008 20:49

what does the rash look like Merry? Is it pimply or flat? Could it be diet related? I only ask because after years suffering from a nasty nasty rash, it was eventaully linked to the coeliac disease. I'm not sure how I got through us all being ill merry....you just do I suppose.

dozy, I'm sure there will be newer and more frightening ways for our children to worry us when they are stroppy teenagers.

Bumba has a spiral toy for the handle of his car seat and erm.....well that's it really!! We might get him some new clothes. We don't actually need anything as we are awash with baby toys here. I might get him some sparkly nipple tassles to keep him amused

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 17/12/2008 21:13

oh lord, my poor sleep deprived baby mushed brain!

I'm doing a trial of some fancy new washing powder. the dose per load is 4.5 tablespoons. I put a 60ml measure in the packet, thinking that it was close enough.

Monday night DH asked how much of the new powder was needed. 4.5 scoops I said, and there's a scoop in the bag. Are you sure he shouted from the utility room. Yes, I said, it's on the instructions. He came through remarking that it seemed like an awful lot and I glibly said it's because he's used to the concentrated powders we use. It wasn't till tonight that I had the clunking realisation that the scoop was the full dose and not a tablespoon. Apparently the powder was up to the top of the drawer which is why he questioned how much he was using. What a banana. and of course neither of us can think what was actually in that wash (we do so many washes at the minute) to rewash it. No doubt it'll become clear when we are itching like hell or frothing in the rain!!

And I'm going to run out of the powder before the end of the trial now!

JingleBuzz · 17/12/2008 21:23

LOL at the family daisy frothing in the rain
MerryM We have got J a Pinky Minky blanket - gorgeous and an Xmas day outfit that is it. We would have bought the blanket anyway and the outfit was because we saw it and it was cute - we made the decision not to get him anything this year as you say I doubt he will care
Vbab hugs to you

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 17/12/2008 21:29

My main concern re pressies is DS1 wondering why Santa hasn't been very generous to DS2.

Maybe we'll tell him that because he was born in November he missed the cut off date for this Christmas and will catch up next year?

JingleBuzz · 17/12/2008 21:33

Daisy I love that idea. We have got a stocking for both boys but are filling DS2s with things we already have just so DS1 thinks he is being included!

vbab78 · 17/12/2008 22:38

misdee - Just read your post regarding eczema. Alyssa has what you describe on her face and the majority of her body and a bit of her head is still very dry skin. I have tried olive oil a few times but not much change.

My DS has had eczema since very early on and still suffers with it but at the moment is quite calm (not weepy or bleeding) but does flare up when he is stressed or maybe worried (new baby in house and stressed mummy and daddy).

Next seeing HV 6th Jan so might ask about eczema if no change. I also didnt eat nuts whilst pregnant with DS or A as far as I know but I think DS was tested.

OblomovOYeFaithful · 18/12/2008 07:37

Morning.
Computer virus fixed.
Just bookmarking.
Will take me a week to read all the posts, seeing as I haven't been on for a week.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 18/12/2008 08:04

Hey Obs . We've missed you!

Feeling sorry for myself this morning. I was coming down stairs in my socks earlier, carrying the baby, and slipped on about the fourth step from the bottom, up in the air and landed really hard on my hip and shoulder on the bottom steps. I nearly passed out with the pain it was so bad . Thankfully, F is OK as I managed to hold him up in the air as I fell, but I have a huge bruise coming up on my hip and shoulder blade, a big friction burn on my hip and I have wrenched my wrist as well. My bra strap is rubbing on my shoulder blade in an ouchy fashion and my hip is stinging

Thankfully I have a lot of padding!

I'm going to be very stiff and sore later I think, and with the SPD this is not what my pelvis needs!

ChocOrange05 · 18/12/2008 08:09

Welcome back Obs Daisy your fall sounds horrid - hope you recover soon!

Morning everyone else.

littlesaintNIC · 18/12/2008 08:41

Morning everyone. Daisy big hugs coming your way, are you ok?

I'm gutted this morning, it's Fiona Phillips' last day - she's soooo funny.

J slept for 5 hrs from 1:30 until 6:30!!!!!! WAHOOOOOOOOO

littlesaintNIC · 18/12/2008 08:43

But he was very grizzly before hand and kept feeding. I think it's comfort feeding due to reflux and he's producing green poos at the moment.

I have also noticed a blue tinge around his nose and bottom lip.

I've got my 6 week check later - will mention it all to GP.
