Pinkyminkee · 13/12/2008 21:29

lol we are soo predictable

Would love to have a drink but DH is on his staff do tonight, so am v.

Don't worry- the size 2's will be used in a few months time!

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 13/12/2008 21:30

they'll keep dozy, don't worry

www.usednappies.co.uk is my favourite. I've bought and sold there and never had any problems.

little lambs are good first nappies (but are velcro fastening), as are diddy diapers and bimbles.

vbab78 · 13/12/2008 21:30

misdee - love the pics. wish i had taken pics of A's smiles now.

lie in - Thanks for your support ladies. But ... it was me not DH that was wanting two lie ins. It's me that is being unreasonable then. DOH!

Just sat at the moment in a sweat, sorry TMI, as managed to have a lovely bath the first since being in labour with A. MEMORIES. Now thinking about ordering a pizza and going to have a bottle of lager as living life on the wild side tonight as my lie in tomorrow and rest from night feed tonight!!!! DS went to bed at 7.10pm , normally 7.30ish. A is currently in her moses basket upstairs.

Pinkyminkee · 13/12/2008 21:30

daisy that's bad news- sainsbos had them in here last month. I'm due to to our monthly supermarket shop next week so I'll find out then, I guess.

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 13/12/2008 21:34

at a whole bottle of shampoo.....you will have a bit of a head in the morning. It always gives me a stonking headache.

We have some Bollinger in the house (DH won it in a business card raffle nearly four years ago) but it's a magnum so we haven't opened it as we'd never get through it just the two of us. It won't go off will it?

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 13/12/2008 21:38

pinky they have started doing their own brand eco disposable, but they are rubbish. I'm all for biodegradability, but not overnight whilst still on the baby

Hi vbab . A lie-in each sounds like a good compromise.....or else a weekend each taking turns about?

I'm having a couple of glasses of wine this evening. It's dangerous ground for me though as I was having a bit of an issue with alcohol before I got pregnant with DS2 and I'm scared of getting to that place again. Mind you, I was still pretty ill with depression and I'm not now, so it should be OK. That and DH is here to help with the kids and house.....and to be my conscience

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 13/12/2008 21:39

gotta go, it's my turn to let DS2 suck on my finger so DH can do some of his pootering.

have the rest of a good evening

Pinkyminkee · 13/12/2008 21:42

oh dear that's bad news, re nappies. lentil weaving shop for me, then.

have a good night.x

vbab78 · 13/12/2008 21:45

twinkling - hope you better.

daisy - sorry to hear about your past issues. at least you are aware of them and dont like how it made you feel so very unlikely to go back to that place. Hope you enjoy your wine. I had a very tiny glass of wine at lincoln x-mas market with mum and sis, kind of a tradition, and I just found it too strong so much it made me shiver. Will work up to it .

Pinkyminkee · 13/12/2008 21:50

vbab I'm a bit of a lightweight when it comes to alcohol- always have been really, as I get migraines, but I do like the odd drink.

daisy i'm sorry about your past probs., but I bet it had a lot to do with the depression. I know from some people close to me it can make you quite self-destructive.

dingdongDOZYMAREishigh · 13/12/2008 22:01

i use nature babycare disposables - get them from waitrose. Didn't realise Sainsburys sold them.

vbab enjoy your bath and pizza! We take it in turn to have a lie-in....whoever gets up at 7am is allowed back to bed at 9am for 2 hours!!!!! makes such a difference!

Daisy yes I have drunk a whole bottle to myself but, like pinky am the biggest lightweight....I was slurring after a glass!! My trouble is I now want more knowing that I am not on Tiger duty tonight, but how sad is that drinking on your own!!!! dh KEEPS tutting at me......

Thanks for all your advice on nappies - I shall definatel ylook at those sites but perhaps tomorroW!!! Was it oyur DH pinky who has done research into nappies for part of his job???

What is everyone doing for christmas? If you are cooking, what is on the menu?

We are having the following:

Xmas dinner - 3 bird roast with all the trimmings with a shop bought xmas pudding (I just didn't get round to making one this year) our starter is going to be a prawn and scallop chilli combo.....

Boxing day will be at my parents, but we are going to take a nigella lawson ham cooked in coke (although we prefer cherry coke!)

oFF TO BED vwery soon

DM xxxx

dingdongDOZYMAREishigh · 13/12/2008 22:02

where is obs???? Anyone heard from ehr???

Pinkyminkee · 13/12/2008 22:13

lol dOzy make sure you drink plenty of water before bed!

Not sure whose DH that was with the nappies, I remember it from the antenatal thread, though. Was it daisy?? lol at my DH testing nappies- he works in the Youth Service (hopefully mostly all potty trained by then!).

Haven;t sorted out our xmas dinner yet. WE just had a duck last few years as the DC's were either not on solids or not eating much. Will have to book our bird on monday from the local food delivery man. Yours sound yuumy!

off to bed now...hope the fizz doesn't give you a bad head!

JingleBuzz · 14/12/2008 10:10

Morning all,
Daisy hope you had a lovley evening last night and are not too rough this morning.

I am loving the nappy chat, I have just gone through all of mine and am going to get rid of alot of them. I found DS1 was too big and the nappies were so bulky I couldn't get his clothes on over them but I am cheered by Misdee liking the Mothercare ones as I have just bought some with the nappy scheme and am looking forward to giving them a go!
I do have copious amounts of kushies, tots bots and various others which I will likely be selling soon.

Choco If the colief works let me know - I bought a bottle and don't need it - its npt opened and you can ave it if you would like.
I've emailed you on FB too.

Misdee please can I be cheeky? I was looking at your gorgeous smiley photo and noticed you have a Loola - what do you think of it, i'm considering getting a rear facing for J and am a bit confused I have heard good and bad things about the Loola.

Hope eberyone is having a good weekend.

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 14/12/2008 10:11

WooHoo........hana, have you seen THIS.

Get your votes in ladies

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 14/12/2008 10:20

horrible night chez daisy last night......hours of grumping and grizzling ending in another spectacular poo, followed by another two hours of grumbling and grizzling. i went to bed at 10.30 but didn't get to sleep until after 3, and then up again at 8.

surely these issues with pooing aren't normal?

F is really snuffly this morning as well. the cot worked really well though.

and i only had a glass and a half of wine as i wasn't enjoying the taste at all!

dozy it was my dh with the disposable nappy recycling research.

coolkat · 14/12/2008 10:47

Come to grumble, feel free to ignore!

Nipples really sore as R feeding constant, mobility terrible, feels like fighting flu bug where your whole body aches could this be the mastitis?

Keep saying going to feed for the last time and move to bottles which makes me sad as had been going so well keep resisting, DH amazing but starting to resent him getting full nights sleep downstairs

Finding it hard now - knew it had been going to well. R is 6wks 4days.

I know IABVU. . .

vbab78 · 14/12/2008 10:48

daisy - sorry to hear about your eve. Also sorry to hear you didnt enjoy the wine. I either havent liked the taste or been that bothered with the lager and wine I bought in. Maybe have to try spirits with a lot of pop.

Well last night I had two bottles of lager and also had a one night break from the night feed. WOOHOO! But I was supposed to have my turn at lie in this morning but ended up getting up at 8am to "help" DH get both kids and himself ready to go out to do something on a "need to know basis" and I dont need to know. Also DS really wanted me to come down stairs. I reckon he might be having a photo or something done for me for x-mas.

thing is apart from the fact I so needed the lie in I thought DH will have a taster of what it is like to get two unpredictable kids, you and all their stuff organised and then get out of the house and somewhere by a time. Didnt happen though did it as mummy/wifey was there to sort it all and also probably avoid DS getting rushed around, then him kicking off and DH constantly telling him off as a result in between A crying. Trouble is now I am wide awake as not a person who can go back to bed once woken up no matter how tired and feel really tired, headachey (no tablets in house), depressed and angry at the fact I havent had my lie in.

I've put slow cooker on for our dinner later, positioned washing around the house as got dodgy tumble dryer (lost without it) that keeps turning my electrics off and organised baby stuff. Going to do ironing now which I hate but no point putting it off ... again.

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 14/12/2008 11:41

coolkact, you are probably hitting the 6 week growth spurt, and have done brilliantly. It really does get easier from here on in and it would be a shame of you gave up now. My mastitis came on really suddenly, so keep an eye out on those boobs. Can you feel any lumpy patches, or is there any areas of reddening?

pity you can't get back to sleep vbab. i'm the same. DH has gone back to bed, DS2 and DD are sleeping and I'm wide awake. I'll get tired later on this afternoon.....just when the kids are getting tired and tetchy. Not a great combination! But it's great that DH has taken the kids out for a bit; shows he is thinking about you by doing the "need to know" thing as a surprise for you

ironing.....strictly done on an as needs basis here. DH does his own work shirts and DSs uniform at the same time; I do my stuff if i'm going to wear it. Everything else is just folded neatly and put away. I've wasted too much of my life ironing already, and gave up on it as a concept when I was heavily pregnant with DD.

SPD much better today . I think it's cos I've basically done nothing since DS2 was born. Went for lunch to the cafe up the road with a friend yesterday and walked home (literally a 5 minute walk) and my calves and shins were aching from the walking I did on Thursday adn Friday. I'm going to try and walk a little further every day.

Heartmum2Jamie · 14/12/2008 12:19

Morning all,

Things aren't going brilliantly here. I think Z needs to be taking 2 doses of gaviscon per feed but stupid dr's only prescribed a 15 dose box...on Tuesday, so have been resorting to 1 dose 4 times a day instead of the 6 times you can give it. He doesn't get any gaviscon in the middle of the night either. Poor baby, we did see an improvement, but seem to be getting worse again, his hiccups are back, found him choking in his inclined moses basket at 8am. I am thinking of asking for something else as he is having enough trouble with pooing on just 1 dose per feed, I dread to think how bad it could be on 2 doses. Dh also mentioned to me yesterday that he things Z is tongue tied (dh is tongue tied himself). It would certainly go along way to explaining why his latch is so bad, the pain in my right nipple with no obvious signs of injury (must be internal or bruising) and could partly be the cause of his reflux. Looks like I am back at the dr's tomorrow, where I will undoubtedly be fobbed off because Z is gaining weight at an rate of knots. At least I have a health cashback scheme, so can take Z private if needs be.

Loving the nappy talk. I am more than useless with 2 parters/shaped nappies, so am mainly using pockets. I think BG v3 are going to be our workhorse nappies but I LOVE the look of the weenotions pockets, it would be a shame to cover them with clothes!

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 14/12/2008 13:02

Sorry to hear that heartmum . I didn't realise that the gaviscon cuases constipation. Can they give ranitidine instead? It's OK for babies isn't it? Have you felt a tongue tie? I read that it's the up and down motion of the tongue as well as how far the tongue can be extended, so although it might not look bad, it can be. ?the frenulum under the top lip can also cause problems

We still have latch issues as well and I'm pretty sure it's to do with his top lip. His latest issue is not creating a seal and the milk dribbles out of the side of his mouth as he feeds. Not sure what that's about.

MerryCRICRIstmas · 14/12/2008 13:14

Afternoon everybody
Heartmum sorry you seem to be getting nowhere with Z's feeding problems. Is there another doctor you could see at the practice who might be more sympathetic? Z may be gaining weight well but if he's uncomfortable during and after feeds then that can't be good for him or you. Hope you get an answer on the tongue-tied business too. Would definitely go private if you have that option and have no joy at the dr's this time.
Coolkat Sorry to hear about possible mastitis. Hope it isn't and that you get some respite today.
We had a bad night last night too Took E to MIL's yesterday afternoon and she fed more or less constantly whilst we were there. Think she's coming up to her 6 week growth spurt. I think the upset in her routine, such as it is, unsettled her and she didn't get enough sleep so we found it very hard to get her to settle when it was time for bed - she was screaming for what felt like hours but in reality was probably only 2. Most upsetting though and I really feel for those of you who are having to deal with this every night Then during the night I woke up because it sounded as though E couldn't breathe - she was really snuffly and still is a bit. I sprinkled some Olbas oils over the mattress and it seemed to do the trick. Not sure if it's a cold or some mucus. She's feeding well and is bright and alert so I'm not too worried. We're going to the doctor's tomorrow for her developmental check so I'll get her to check E over then.
DH has finally got the Xmas decs down from the loft after much nagging so we I can start putting them up. What is it with men - they ignore the stuff that needs doing and instead get involved in doing other stuff which could quite easily wait
Have a good afternoon all!

Heartmum2Jamie · 14/12/2008 13:15

Hugs to you Daisy, it is horrible to still be having issues this far down the line, especially when you have seen them latch well, it is just very hard to achieve here. Poor Z was grunting so much at the breast this mornng that when he came off, there was a large streak of milk coming out of his nostril . I have no idea if it because he needs a poo or from acid. As for meds, I know that many dr's prefer not to prescribe ranitidine, domperidone or omeprazole for such young babies, but I know that they can be given (heart babies have a tendancy to suffer from reflux and many of the babies on the board I use for ds2 are on all manners of reflux meds). This is why I may be better going to see a paed privately, save the hassle from the GP, but I will try tomorrow and see how we get on.

Rosa · 14/12/2008 13:17

Daisy hope the spd is better.
I only have a couple of cloth nappies as drying is a real problem here I wish they awere as switched on as the Uk about it all. You say cloth nappies and they look at you if you have come from mars!
heartmun sounds a nightmare I hooe you get 'proper answers' when you go to the doc.
minirosa beena bit naughty on her latch on just nipple taking and it gets a bit painful also she is snacking and napping more than I like and I can't keep track of her actual feeds!
vbab I know re the lie in when dh can cope he shuts the bedroom door when things get a bit hard e.g dd had enough of cartoons the door sudenly becomes open. Also his theory of me lie in in morning ( usually 30 mins nonly at w/ends ) = his sleeping in the pm - 2 hrs daily when he at home!!
Xmas food here no idea as unsure as what we are doing however somewhere along teh line we will have a simple xmas lunch or dinner. Will do indivudual turkey breasts stuffed and rolled in bacon. POts , couple of veg. Pudding with delias brandy sauce ( in huge quantities so I can use on the spare pud, mincepies etc)and probably a nice bottle of wine.
the 24th will be a fish marathon as its traditional here . I am still off fish went off when pg so I will have a ham sandwich
dh has a man tummy bug today - might be the start of something not sure. Lovely sunny am wanted to go out but aqua alta again so had to stay in. Will try to go out this pm with both just to get air but the clouds are building up again !
Jinglebuzz - have you looked at the M&P Switch - that what it is called here it is lighter than the Loola. Am thinking of it possibly if we can justify it.
I have voted on the poll - unbiased vote of course

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 14/12/2008 20:22

DS2 is all bunged up now and struggling to feed today. He is just snuffling and sleeping......would explain why he wasn't sucking well last night and this morning.

Doesn't help my poor bursting boobs.

ah,well; this too shall pass
