pmsl at wordsmith. More like an elephant who cannot forget. My head's always on hyperdrive with things and facts and words rushing around, it's like standing in a busy room at all times.

Friend was neither Kenyan nor Tanzanian. He was Asian actually but born and raised in Nairobi. Have another friend who's currently schlepping from Dar to Tiwi beach so hoping he'll pick up some more useful lingo for me. Would love to go myself but the boat ride's too long.

I don't know what an iphone is. Truly. I thought it was a phone but overheard a Young Person talking about music on an iphone and got confused.

AM, nice to see you've 'come out' on FB.

And yes will be nipping into CP next month with LG&T and brood hopefully if they're up to it.

548 that's the ticket MRsJB.

Charley I'm but one year behind you. PMSL at the thought of the whole neighbourhood knocking on your door to help ease the pain. Tell dh I am dowloading new iphones software as we speak, apparently it will unlock the phone and hey presto I will be able to use my local 3G sim It is currently saying it will take 10 hours to download. Ho hum, developing country indeed.

It does everything Nim, it quite scares me. Music, photos, GPS (very useful for me )oh and its a phone too. I may never resurface into the real world ever again.

Dar to Tiwi on a dhow? Sounds fun. I used to live in Dar. Does your friend know there are no toilets on those dhows? Just a hole at the end of the prow. Cuts quite a figure (head).

J is STILL like a piece of velcro and follows me all over the house. Is he the only one who can't climb doing this?

Report
NimChimpsky · 16/01/2009 16:54

No toilets?

M isn't velcro like usually but has been ill which has brought on a velcro like quality. Plus, dh worked a very long week and was out before she woke and in after bedtime for 8 days while she was ill and she's wary of him. DH is . She just runs to me all the time. When ill she wouldn't let go of me, sat on my knee all the time and sobbed quietly. She'd wake up in the night and cry 'mummy help me'. She's a bit better today but regularly shouts 'mummy coming please' to get me to come back from wherever I've hidden to eat biscuits gone to get on with an important task. She's also taken to putting her arms round me and saying 'lovely cubble mummy'. Sweet. She's also started saying 'sorry' if she drops something/bumps into you. It's starting to look like we're admonishing her and honestly, I don't know where she gets it from.

MmeJaffaB · 16/01/2009 17:03

Cute Nim, I love cubble.... J says "tuddle mummy" with arms up stetched. Thats the sweet side, she also says "AWAY" when she doesn't want me to stop her doing what she shouldn't be doing, thats the Maddie side.

Report
NimChimpsky · 16/01/2009 17:07

DD says 'stop it now'. Usually when I'm on MN. She also very seriously pointed at me today when I was turning all her toys on their heads and said 'naughty girl'. I have never and would never say this to her so again, where is she getting it from? DH taught her 'I shall not' today. She's very pleased with herself. Currently, she shall not have a bath.

pmsl......now you know the high and mightys would blame it on the media influence don't you?

They really need to curb what they are saying on Mastermind and QI.

Report
NimChimpsky · 16/01/2009 17:20

Mastermind's too easy. University Challenge more my style

"I know all the appliances. I was going to go on Mastermind but I can't sit on leather." Gold star if you know where it's from. Shows you my true viewing pleasures.

New series of QI on atm. I'm in heaven.

MmeJaffaB · 16/01/2009 17:22

Maybe she has got it from me actually.....mine are all Naughty and I tell them they are. I know, probably why they are. It's a bit of a mouthful to say "M are you being mischievious?" should I say "Mummy hopes you are not doing something that Mummy wouldn't like"

nah..........."NO, thats naughty" is much easier.

I did start off good, honest, it kind of went wrong somewhere between 2-3dc's. nevermind, can't all be perfect.

Ah bless a new born

What about the egg heads? would you make one?

I like QI, I have to say, never thought I would but dh does too, it's part of my new years resolution to learn something new everyday that kind of viewing helps. Today I learnt how to say what goes up must come down in Swahili. Useful.

Apoligies in advance for being very pished. I;ve had one of those lost afternoons with a VAT of wine for my mate's b'day. DH was in charge of Tilly

Eggheads I'd strangle CJ with one of his own flowery shirts. You've got the wrong idea, I ain't clever.

MrsJB, don't think I meant anything about not calling M a 'naughty girl'. I don't like the word naughty for no reason other than I don't like it and I don't use it. It wasn't a parenting comment it was expression of a linguistic preference. Ach du liebe. Hope I didn't offend.

I've learnt nothing new today. I confirmed my knowledge that I do not like the daily hate mail but that's all.

Themasterandmargaritas · 16/01/2009 20:57

I've learnt today you can drink many margaritas and not fall down. I'm with Tilly on the pished front.

J is most definitely naughty. And he knows it. He spent the whole morning pressing the button on the decoder and running off laughing hysterically while I said, 'don't do that' 'that is not acceptable' 'I said DON'T DO THAT' 'DON'T TOUCH THE DECODER AGAIN' and finally 'NOOOOOOOOO'. He still laughed at me. The other two never did that.

I still have no power. It's been off since 7am. We have had no hot water for 36 hours. And I still can't get my iphone to work - Charley, where is dh???!!!

I have been to a rather lovely restaurant and had fun so to hell with it all. I hope baby India is snozzling away tucked up with mummy and her 27 siblings.

Well, evening all. I DO still exist and am finally getting around to posting. Apologies for my terrible lack of contact, I seem to have been so busy I just haven't had the time. I know that makes my life sound interesting and maybe ever so slightly glamourous, believe me, it isn't.
First and foremost I seem to have chosen a lovely time to come back. Many , many congratulations to LGT et al on the arrival of India Rose. A gorgeous name for a long-awaited and no doubt beautiful girl.
Also, many congrats to you AM on your news. I would never have guessed. I thought you were with me in the 'Definitely no more than two' club. I hope you're feeling a little better.
Charley, thanks for remembering me, as always.
To all others (ok I know it's a cop out but it's Friday night and I have other things to do lol) I hope you and your families are well.
All is well here. We had a lovely but hectic Christmas and New Year and 2009 seems to have got off to a reasonable start. We are both very busy, me with my job and dh juggling about 100 different balls in the air at once with many different jobs/projects. Both the kids are well. C is proving to be a bit challenging at times. He has moved up to the oldest group at Nursery and boy does it show. He has big fish syndrome I think. Most of the time he's lovely but when he goes for it, he really goes for it. R is as gorgeous and cheeky as ever. She is most definitely naughty, is told it, knows it and is very, very proud of it!! When she does something naughty unacceptable she says 'Ruby naughty' and runs around laughing like a hyena. She is certainky very, very different from her placid, laid back brother. If she doesn't end up on the stage I shall be amazed.

Sorry Nim, got carried away with the routine of daily life, come tea time, bed time, fight time etc....
offend me, not easily, It'll take more than me thinking someone may be questioning my parenting techniques, quite frankly I don't give a hoot.
I know not every ones cup of tea is a hook from the ceiling, plenty of gaffa tape and a dingey celler but hey ho, each to their own.

Did you not learn today that there are no toilets on a dhow ?

I've joined the earl grey club.

LOL MrsJB, that hook you installed here at Halloween works a treat! If the dc's are naughty i tell them they are, i even tell Jack that he is a horrible little boy sometimes, only if his actions and behaviour warrant it. Sugar coating things does not work.

Pink how were they then? Have you had NKOTB tatooed on your boob yet?

India is nocturnal... she does not like the dark either

Thank you for all the lovely congrats and texts

I woke at 430 with pains every 5 mins but had done for days so gnored it. By 5 they were a bit worse and i went on to all fours, dh woke up. He went to make a cup of tea but tbh i was still dubious. No sooner had he left i got up and stood on the plastic sheet in our room and had a huge bloody show. Do deffo labour i thought

Called yelled dh back to help, nice jammas ruined! Went down to the front room and dh called midwife then his mum. Pain had me stomping all over the front room and rocking. Midwives (2 and a student) arrived about 6ish. TENS on. Declined VE.

Paced alot, examined at just before 7, 4-5cm membranes bulging. G&A fab Popped waters flipped over so on hands and knees over couch. Fully within a few contractions, lost plot. MIL arrived as B woke, all others awake and listening. Told dh to remind mil to make lunchboxes.

Pushed huge girl out at 725, it hurt alot and i cried and clinged to dh. They had to pull her shoulders out. She went to dh while i pushed a massive placenta out too.

DH took her to meet all the children before they left for school Hugs had heard me crying and was a bit upset but has been ok. B keeps saying "wow, a BABY"

She feeds wiith the force of a very strong dyson and has me blitered already. The after pains are hideous i want the gas and air back!

India is very, very sweet, the children have all hugged her. I am so glad it is over. There will be no repeat performance.

Now who wants to hold her i'm fecking tired

Right, I'm off to follow New Kids on the Block around the country. My obsession was reignited by the concert. On a slightly scary level!!!

I feel rough - I'm too old for all afternoon drinking sessions
