Why are you worried about CP? Is it the getting her to sleep or what's she's like in the night? You're sharing a chalet, non? Let her run around until she's knackered and put her on a mattress on the floor in your room or in the cot. If she gets up, she gets up. Have a glass of wine and accept it's happening but you're still going to enjoy yourself.

Themasterandmargaritas · 14/01/2009 15:13

Well said Nim. Remember it's your holiday too. It won't harm her.

Pinkjenny · 14/01/2009 15:13

Nim - have you been speaking to my mum? I swear to God, word for word, that's what she said!

AprilMeadow · 14/01/2009 15:13

Pink my love, it will all be fine! Shut her in the games room and run away!

I think there is 1 room downstairs and the others are upstairs, if you wanted you could have the one downstairs one and then you wont need to worry it will all be fine x

MmeJaffaB · 14/01/2009 15:54

Serious Nim, me? Never, now come on you know me better than to expect me to be serious.

PJ, it'll be alright love, who needs sleep anyway?

I want to start running, I just don't seem to be able to get over the wobble factor. I know it's THE best way to get fit/loose weight, how do you get through the pain Nim?

I have been to aerobics this week and danced 2 nights already and dancing tonight. Lost 4lb on week one so far! Happy with that, I just need to stick to it for longer than 2 weeks. Could I weigh in with you guys each Monday? if I've fallen off the wagon you can throw wet sponges and stinky fish at me or something. I will always be honest as I will only be chating myself if I lie. Ffs, I've done this before, I know it's easy! (that paragraph was me being serious)

Pinkjenny · 14/01/2009 15:56

I've started running Mrs JB - and I have never been a good runner. I'm in my second week of the beginners programme on the Bupa website, which just builds you up slowly. I'm really enjoying it, to be honest.

Well done on your 4lb!!!!!! I lost 4lb last week, but Aunty Flo has arrived so have been stuffing myself this week.

Definitely weigh in with us - I thought we agreed before Christmas that we'd be weight loss buddies, anyway!

Tillyscoutsmum · 14/01/2009 15:57

Tilly was definitely a mountain goat in a previous life. Been to soft play meet up today and she was in the big kids area (for over 5's) and got to the top on her own. She then scared herself silly at the top of a humungous slide and I had to climb up and get her That's my exercise for the year week

Right - I think the "top" of the weetabix is the rougher side. Am I right ? Am I right ? Please, put me out of my misery

NimChimpsky · 14/01/2009 16:12

There are several things with running that you don't realise at first.

  1. It gets easier. Fast.
  2. That burning, painful feeling as your heartrate increases doesn't get any worse and you can run through it
  3. You get a second wind and then a third and fourth so as you run more, you have long periods of it feeling quite comfortable
  4. The pleasure outweighs the pain
  5. It's extremely rewarding to see how quickly you lose weight/run faster/run longer
  6. You start to crave it
  7. It clears your head

It's tough at first but you just keep plugging away, walk if you need to and wear appropriate clothing, including a decent bra.

Yes weetabix, rough side up. Well done. Have a gold star.

Pinkjenny · 14/01/2009 16:14

I would agree with all of that, Nim.

NimChimpsky · 14/01/2009 16:16

You'll get your gold star when you reply to my email. Which is a load of old waffle considering you've already started running and seem to be doing well. Just delete it.

It's very foggy here. You can't see the end of our garden. It's wonderful. I'm going to put on my best frock and wail "Heathcliffe" as I stride through the village.

MmeJaffaB · 14/01/2009 16:29

IF......... I crack the running can I have a gold star please? It's such a beautiful area, flat and peaceful, probably like you Nim, I won't see anyone anyway to have to talk to pant at.

[hopeful/competetive]

Pinkjenny · 14/01/2009 16:31

This is the programme I am following, Mrs JB here.

And if you tell anyone my weight, I will have to kill beat you.

Tillyscoutsmum · 14/01/2009 16:34
NimChimpsky · 14/01/2009 16:43

Oh god MrsJB, living in the middle of nowhere is the only reason I can run. I'd be mortified if people could see me. That Bupa programme is very good btw, give it a whirl and I'll consider giving you a star.

I deserve no stars. I am not writing my book. I've re-read everything I've written and am considering deleting it. I like one of my characters. Otherwise, I think I may just give up.

TSM, you don't need to run, you're already stunning. I've seen you in that wedding dress. Hot I tell you.

Themasterandmargaritas · 14/01/2009 16:45

It is addictive. Do 15 mins run and 15 mins walk at the beginning mrsJB, then next time do 20 mins run 10 walk etc etc, that'll help. Next thing you know you will all be joining me at the Lewa Half Marathon in April. Nimsky, have you done your 10k race yet?

Oh and as for the bottom wobbling, after certain amounts of time you don't give a flying feck as to who sees it.

Good music is a must...

I am sulking. We are about to go out to an Indian restaurant with the IL and dh's half brother and wife, I wanted to go to a fab south indian restau all vegetarian. But I have been vetoed and we are going to the one that always gives me a dodgy tummy after. Bah humbug, sulk, sulk.

Pinkjenny · 14/01/2009 16:45

I wish I lived in the middle of nowhere. I run in constant fear of bumping into someone I went to school with or something!

NimChimpsky · 14/01/2009 16:54

Veto them right back. Your delicate English constitution stomach is more important than what I am assuming are their silly reasons for wanting to eat at a dodgy, infested pit. Put your foot down.

PJ, I have seen no photos of you below the general neck/generously proportioned chest area so am unable to comment on your need to run. Anyway need to run is defined by you wanting to do it, not your Imaginary Internet Friend's perceived view of your body.

No 10k yet. Am waiting for the weather to pick up then will do a local 10k with FIL in the spring.

JamInMyWellies · 14/01/2009 16:54

Running no way, I will go back to yoga when the teachers let me they have some random rule about no classes till 6wks. If we are talking weight I have lost 2stone in 3wks just another stone and half to get back to pre preggo.

What is all this weetabix talk surely a sausage and egg McMuffin is the way to go.

Tillyscoutsmum · 14/01/2009 16:58

Sausage & Egg McMuffin

The wedding pics don't count - there were magic pants and a corseted dress helping out. Besides, I've put over half a stone on since then .

I did a 10k fun run once - nearly bloody killed me (probably because mine and my mates "training sessions" invariably ended up in the pub with a bottle of wine and a packet of Marly lights )

I'll stick to my Wii Fit - once I've wiped off the two months worth of dust

largeginandtonic · 14/01/2009 17:03

Running?! Erm no. I am not a fan. I like the gym, ipod and pounding away on the machines of hell followed by a lovely swim and jacuzzi, maybe a steam bath or sauna. Heaven.

I am ignoring all pain now, wil panic when i see a head. Was incredibly upset this afternoon, i phoned the midwife and she will not sweep till Sunday If i niggle like this till then she will be catching a baby.

I am also having ishoos with the twins Dad, he put them on abus on their own to come home at the weekend. I have asked him not too. They got confused and got off at the wrong stop and had to walk a mile home He has been avoiding me for months as i am not happy with what he does with them. He chooses to leave them outside the house and leg it rather than talk to me. He is afraid of dh Can't imagine why. Anyhoo i spoke to him on the phone listened to his pathetic drivel and told him if he does it again i will take him to court. Enough is enough. I am not happy, court is a very bad place to end up. I have been there done that for about 6 years before he buggered off.

Just what i need really.

So i sat on the couch felt myself get teary, slapped self and said 'man up'. Move on.

I made dh give me a sweep when he got in, he was most impressed...not

AprilMeadow · 14/01/2009 19:45

I cant keep it a secret any longer! Its been killing me!!!!!

Looks like Jack & Ella are getting themselves a brother or sister!!

Found out on the 2nd Jan that we will be having no.3 in September

Took a while to get our heads round this lovely surprise given that we were only going to have 2. Feeling nauseous most of the day although not as bad as it was with E. Am 5+3 today.

Thank you to the few lovely ladies that have kept my secret this last week.

Told MIL yesterday, so now all the parents know. Only a select few other people know. Dh wants to wait til 12wks but there is no way i cant wait that long. His party is in 2 wks and i think it will be obvious as i wont be drinking

Please dont mention anything on FB as its not official just yet

Tillyscoutsmum · 14/01/2009 19:56

Awww congratulations AM I had a feeling you were after your posts a few weeks ago but didn't want to say anything....

Hoping to join you soon, I have 3 pills left in my pack and then its see what happens time (albeit I suspect we might have to have sex sometimes as well )

JamInMyWellies · 14/01/2009 20:00

Woohoo!

AprilMeadow · 14/01/2009 20:03

I know, Dh didnt want me to say anything as i have a RL friend who knows my user name and didnt want to tell everyone yet.

It's quite scary this time as i got rid of all my baby stuff and maternity stuff and all i have left it a moses basket!
