How the hell are we the same weight? I look like a bag of spanners and you're slim and stunning. I'm doing something wrong.

MmeJaffaB · 16/01/2009 12:15

Nim you've done sooooo well with your weight, I hope you are very proud, it's hard going.

Welcome to the World baby India, well done lg&t.

AprilMeadow · 16/01/2009 12:16

Congratulations Mr&MrsG&T
Beautiful name and a good weight.
Cant wait to hear all about it

AprilMeadow · 16/01/2009 12:18

My actual weight is 9st 4lbs. Would have liked to have gotten to 9 on the dot, might see it at some point next year

I was just saying to MrsJb that we thought you knew! How exciting

charleymouse · 16/01/2009 12:20

NC congratulations on the weight loss, well done. You can't believe what I must be doing wrong then as I look like that scene from the end of ghostbusters big fat flabby white blobby thing.

AM you do look glam have seen pics on FB. To be fair though NC you look glam as well and just need to realise it.

Congratulations LG&T, N and the brood. Well done you. She sounds lovely, hope you are feeling okay and manage to get some kip today. Love the name by the way.

SKYTVADDICT · 16/01/2009 12:25

Many congratulations to the LG&T household from all of use here. Well done and love the name x

NimChimpsky · 16/01/2009 12:25

I prefer Joshina myself.

charley you're very sweet, but glam I am not. You'll see when we meet. I'm a no frills, no make-up, no effort sort of a girl. And it shows. I do brush my hair though.

I was 7st 2lbs when I met dh and about 8st 5lbs when I got pregnant. I'm the same size as pre Mathilda where clothes are concerned but a completely different shape. Fairly happy though as a year ago I was completely depressed about it all.

You want stunning looking when just had a baby, Jam's your gal.

MKG · 16/01/2009 12:25

What the hell. I can't believe that LG&T has her baby before I wake up this morning. Being 5 hrs behind I always miss everything.

MKG · 16/01/2009 12:26

Congrats BTW

AprilMeadow · 16/01/2009 12:27

I know she looked amazing - thats what i am aiming for this time!

elkiedee · 16/01/2009 13:15

Congratulations LG&T

The last time I weighed 9 stone was at the end of a year when everything imaginable had gone horribly wrong in my life. Not that this is the time to worry about it, I'm not even going to mention current figures. I only put on 4 lbs with D so was quickly lighter than pre-pregnancy, sadly I've put it all back on.

D's at home with me today, currently glued to Cbeebies but need to get on before he comes to push me off the computer again. I'm going to have cajole/carry him up the stairs (and it will be a battle) to change another stinky nappy.

JamInMyWellies · 16/01/2009 13:34

Congrats LG&T well done my lovely what a beautiful name.

x

JamInMyWellies · 16/01/2009 13:36

Bless you, if you could see me now in ripped jeans and ones of J's sweatshirts glam I am not.

AprilMeadow · 16/01/2009 13:37

Yeah yeah!!

Themasterandmargaritas · 16/01/2009 13:48

Congratulations LG and all 27 28 tonics! Karibu sana India Rose. Well done missus.

I am 54kgs, whatever the hell that is in stones.

You are all glam.........and young.

NimChimpsky · 16/01/2009 13:57

8.5 stones TMAM you skinny minx you.

Bugger young, you're clearly hip and heappening with your kilos. I am my mother in these matters, it's inches and stones and pints all the way. You can keep your new fangled metric hocus pocus.

Swahili on a Friday afternoon, how very cultured. So in the spirit of things, er...

Subira huvuta heri
Mpanda ovyo, hula ovyo (snurk)
Kawia ufike
and er...

Aliye juu, mgoje chini

Themasterandmargaritas · 16/01/2009 14:26

I haven't the foggiest idea what you are talking about. The only KiSwahili I need to know is 'Naomba chai, haraka haraka'

NimChimpsky · 16/01/2009 14:35

Useful anyway.

Rough translation:

All good things come to those who wait
As you sow, so shall you reap (titter)
Better late than never
and er...

What goes up must come down

That's about 50% of my Swahili in one go.

Themasterandmargaritas · 16/01/2009 14:39

My personal favourite is:
Mpanda farasi wawili hupasuka msamba.

Kenyans love their proverbs. Some take quite some working out to do!

Is 54kgs really only 8.5 stones? Wow, I'm going to go and eat some juMpanda farasi wawili hupasuka msambaINNK fruit TO cELEbRATE. j IS HELPIN MEG.

NimChimpsky · 16/01/2009 14:43

Two horses? Is that what you mean? At once?

I had a lovely friend who taught me lots of phrases, all complete madness when translated literally. Like 'Mtoto akililia wembe, mpe' which is a useful parenting idiom ie a child learns through making mistakes but means something like 'when a child cries and asks for a razor, give it to him' which is not quite in line with current parenting practices or within the realms of things a social worker will turn a blind eye to.

Themasterandmargaritas · 16/01/2009 15:01

Yes, that's the one, 'he who tries to ride two horses at once, splits apart'

You are such a wordsmith, it's no easy task to remember swahili proverbs. Was your friend Kenyan or Tanzanian?

The swahili teacher at dd's school got sacked last term for making the year 8s translate a proverb which went along the lines of 'when a child returns home he must suckle from the nipples of his mother's breast'. The PTA were NOT amused.

And no, I'm not hip, just lived too long in a French speaking country. That certainly doesn't make you hip eh MrsJB?

But I do have an iphone.

MmeJaffaB · 16/01/2009 15:21

PMSL.................Hip living in France Nahhhhh I obviously haven't been here long enough.

How on earth do you remember things like that Nim, I can't remember what I was told at Franch class last week, let alone write it down.
TMAM, I may have some homework for you soon, H's is proving a little tricky aged 6.

MmeJaffaB · 16/01/2009 15:22

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh an iphone, well thats settled it you are THE hippest.

Themasterandmargaritas · 16/01/2009 15:29

I can't get it to work though Shhhh don't tell anyone.

I LOVE doing French homework, send it over my way. I sent you a text this morning did it not reach you????

charleymouse · 16/01/2009 15:52

Aha when we meet Nim when will that be exactly, are you popping up to Sunny Sheffield or visiting CP when AM and PJ are there?

TMAM I shall be FORTY next year. [sharp intake of breath] and am deffo not glam. 54 kgs sounds about half of me Am cadging DHs iphone as he is getting an upgrade as my screen has crashed on my nokia and have got loads of pics and all my numbers somehow lost in the middle of it all. He is quite good with it if you want me to ask him any questions. Think that is good proverb especially whilst having mastitis, all children and DH and the neighbours and their dog should all suckle when returning home. Think will decree a new law.

MJB sorry can offer no help with homework I'm afraid.
