Here we go. I thought the title was apt as ds2 has morhed into a stroppy little horror overnight. His favourite expression at the moment is 'I cwoss with you, I sceam at you AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH' .

Happy Birthday ToddlerJabber and ToddlerEli .

DD is poorly again. I swear every bug in the vicinity has some kind of magnetic attraction to her . She has a bit of a temp, headache and earache today. I need to buy shares in Calpol and Medised I think.

Aoa, hotel is a very good idea - go for a posh one so you can have a vvvv hot, deep bath!

Good luck, LenniEd

Love the image of a snuffly little vole...

Thanks for thinking of us when you have more than enough on your hands/shoulder, not easy to get rest but have eye firmly on the goal...

And as for getting rest, hope you are right now!

accessorizequeen · 11/01/2009 21:58

I bet it's nice to be able to bend again, Lennied Glad bf going well for you, lovely to be able to do it after not being able to with dd. Using pump this early on would probably make you more engorged though. I have two though, medela mini electric which I haven't used at all this time round and an avent isis which is quite the business actually (not that I've used it for weeks).
Forgot to say I do have some xs cloth nappies & wraps I was going to sell on as dt's have grown out of? Kissaluvs & sandies and various wraps.
DS3 on gaviscon now, thanks all for your advice, convinced it is reflux. He is much much better after this weekend on it, yay! Happy smiling boy most of the time

BP, castles, eli, solo, thinking of you all for different reasons

Elibean · 11/01/2009 21:58

dm just rang to say dgm refusing food (had mild heart attack last week) and she has drawn the conclusion that dgm is going to die in next 3 days.

I have no idea if its true or not, but managed to hold onto brain long enough to say 'NO' to being the one on stand-by tomorrow to get phone call from dh and then phone siblings etc

AnneOfAvonlea · 11/01/2009 21:59

Eli.

Elibean · 11/01/2009 22:00

x post, AQ...so glad ds is feeling better, and on Gaviscon alone, too

Elibean · 11/01/2009 22:00

Thanks, AA, though atm...tbh....am more

AnneOfAvonlea · 11/01/2009 22:02

We are not responsible for the actions of our parents. Keep your mind on DD. Hope your DGM is ok but either way she would want you focus on DD, I'm sure.

Elibean · 11/01/2009 22:09

To be fair, my mother is also (too) focussed on dd...she's very anxious, and very tangled up with her mother, and it gets confusingly sprayed around on anything anyone else is going through. Which is mostly why I get cross.

Ok, now I've vented, I can get back to dd....thanks, AA, well said (though I suspect dgm being who she is/was, would only half want me to focus on dd and not her...!)

AnneOfAvonlea · 11/01/2009 22:15

Eli. How many more nights till the Op?

Elibean · 11/01/2009 23:15

Tonight and tomorrow night

babypowder · 12/01/2009 08:41

Just tonight now, Eli. Hope last night passed as peacefully as possible. How frustrating to have your DGM in the mix now as well

Jabber, meant to ask what kind of treatment room? All sounds very exciting

I too remember how enormous my little tiny PFB seemed when I brought DD2 home. An incredible moment!

We're doing battle with the dreaded tummy bug now. The only good thing is that I've been able to take anti-nausea medication to allow me to keep taking steroids, so I'm pretty much the only man standing at the moment.

Olihan · 12/01/2009 13:23

LenniEd, I have washable breastpads and two different breast pumps (double electric and single manual). You are more than welcome to borrow the pumps and I'll donate the pads . FB or email me, or let me know on here, whatever is easiest!

Eli, one more sleep. In 24 hours or so it will all be over [reassuring ]

OP posts:
Elibean · 12/01/2009 13:38

Sick bugs as well? Its not fair, poor BP, though its good to be the one man standing ( sort of) in the sick-wars....get well soon, all of you.

DGM has miraculously resurrected. It was all my mother and uncle panicking about something minor, as it turns out. I sort of knew it probably was, but hard to tell when the person is nearly 102 and far away

dd2 is pale and off her food today, am hoping shes not sickening for something (me too, have scratchy throat, prob just tiredness) and am getting very twitchy about dd1 being at school with encroaching January bugs. Might let her in tomorrow, then keep her off.

Yes, 24 hours she'll be in theatre, hopefully, then another stressful 12 hours or so while we wait to see if there's adverse reaction to the GA, then hopefully things will start to normalize (for us, not so much for poor dd2, who is likely to get worse before she gets better, apparently, between days 5-9). Phew

castlesintheair · 12/01/2009 13:47

OMG Eli. Tomorrow! Excited and nervous for you though everything will be fine of course. Sorry you've had added stress of DM/DGM too. Not really what you need at the moment is is?

Poor BP Hope you manage to escape the current lurgy.

Lennied, I've got a mendela electric pump too. I found it much better than the manual one. Which I've probably got somewhere too

castlesintheair · 12/01/2009 13:49

Sorry posted too quickly,

Jabber, therapy room sounds interesting. Tell us more!

Talking of which I have my 1st appt with "shrink" tomorrow. Just love that word!!

SachaF · 12/01/2009 17:07

Hi all,

Chickenpox house here (mild) plus was away all day yesterday so quick post - loads of clearing up to do (dh did a muddy mountain bike race, I took dcs running and got muddy too)

LenniEd, Ella's house 4 fleecy washable breast pads. I didn't like the Boots ones. JoJoMaman has silky ones, not bad either. Both places free p&p.

AQ, had wondered whether you'd used washables this time round - Supermum! That's like an extra 3-4 washes a week with 3 children in nappies?!

SachaF · 12/01/2009 17:12

Eli, best wishes, fingers crossed, the finish line is in sight! Glad your dgm is better, wow 102! you come from good stock! (in the longevity stakes)

Elibean · 12/01/2009 17:29

Castles, will think of you shrinking while I sit it out in the hospital cafe

Seriously, hope she/he's good and that whatever rocky route therapy takes ('cos its always rocky, otherwise it wouldn't be therapy, eh?!) you get a glimpse of a freer future early on...

Sacha, pox, oh poor you...are you stocked up on bicarb and oats? HOpe it stays mild. Strangely, dd1 had it moderately and dd2, who shared her bath, played with her etc, never caught it

Jabber, am so sorry, forgot to ask about the Therapy Room too - but did notice, and am also intrigued. More, please?

OK, am only on here 'cos I'm nervous, should be packing/making supper...

jabberwocky · 12/01/2009 19:13

wow, eli it seemed like the day would never get here!

Am about to dash out again but in brief I am going in with a long-time friend/colleague and will be starting a vision therapy and vision rehabilitation practice within his practice. I feel like I am finally turning my "job" into a career iykwim. I'll be seeing pediatric patients with varying vision and learning problems including autistic children and in March will add the rehab part where I will see traumatic brain injury and stroke patients. So I'm cautiously optimistic and rather excited

AnneOfAvonlea · 12/01/2009 20:20

Eli - hope all goes well.

Jabber - sounds great. You just reminded me - DDs last orthoptist appt showed her astigmatism had improved and now it is so mild she may not need the glasses. We have an appointment in 2 weeks for an eye test with and without her glasses. She either gets to get rid of them or get a new prescription and she wants purple sparkly ones next time apparently

accessorizequeen · 12/01/2009 20:38

Fingers crossed it all goes well tomorrow and the following days, Eli. YOu have got through so much, you can get through this - come on for loads of hugs and sympathy!

Sacha, I'm only part-cloth nappying the dt's, given up on ds2 as he only wants pull-up styles and I don't have anything that works that well. I'm going to go mostly full-time on the dt's when they start fitting into more of ds2's nappies though. It's about 3 loads extra a week but tbh I do so many (3-4 a day) doesn't really make much difference. I hate stinking sposies everywhere! Am so far from superwoman, really, feel like I'm crumbling atm. Hope the pox gets better

LenniEd · 12/01/2009 20:53

Jabber - sounds fantastic, right up my street too. One day eh....

Eli - new baby tomorrow.

Castles - new you starts tomorrow, good luck.

AQ - thank you very much for offer but think I am going to wait until he fits my size small sandies before using washables. I need to get to grips with having two and feeding before I can deal with nappies too. Have to admit DD has been in disposables far too much lately, need to get that sorted first, so wasteful when we have washables. DS slept in the MB carrycot all day - I'm in love with it so handy too with us having him in the bedside crib at night since can't move that round the house.

Oli - that is very kind of you, will message you, but are you sure you wouldn't mind? I would be glad just to borrow one for a short time to see if I can get on with it before investing.

Sacha - hope the cp is short lived.

babypowder · 12/01/2009 21:19

Eli, restful night, and best wishes for tomorrow. Pleased your DGM is less worrying than it seemed at first, if that makes any sense.

Jabber, that sounds amazing [gobsmacked]! Tell us more ...

Sacha, CP I dread DD2 getting the px as DD1 had it so mildly I'm sure I'm due some nasty Karma.

Both DDs are fast asleep. DD2 hasn't shown any signs of the tummy bug yet, but DD1 was really hammered with it today. Cue long cuddles in front of DVDs [soppy emoticon]

I have given up on reusables with DD2, and much as I hate the disposables, it is much easier than physically restraining her as I try to wrangle a cloth nappy onto her bum! I do miss the fat bum look, though, and all the gorgeous nappies out on the line Soon be potty trained though. Or not

Amapoleon · 12/01/2009 21:43

Eli, wishing you all the best for tomorrow.

Elibean · 12/01/2009 22:17

Thank you, nice ladies

I'm bricking it

So is dh.

But will be ok on the day (or look it).

dd2 has dreadful apnoea tonight, think she's got a bit of a sore throat/sniffle - but thankfully no temp, so they'll go ahead.

Jabber, I love the sound of what you're doing and wish you the very very best with it.

BP, hope your dd1 better and dd2 escapes.

AQ, crumbling is very much allowed, but that said please shout if you need propping up during crumbles, please...you're such a lovely giver, you deserve to take a bunch too.

And yes, I'll be on for tea and sympathy for a few days yet, for sure

'Night, am going to try and sleep.
