Haha, Lizz, reminds me of ds1 who insists on picking the phone up whenever it rings, which is normally fine... but recently we had this conversation:

ds1: hello?
(...)
ds1: fine. We'rejustplayingtractorsandI'vegotmymanituhatonandI'musingmyJohnDeerespikeyforktractor
(...)
ds1: Yes Granny. Andwe'regoingtoseeyouatChristmasandgetlotsofpresentsaren'tweGranny?

ds1: Mummy, It's Granny on the phone for you
Me: hello, Granny
Man on phone: er, it's Dave from Clellands Garage here about your car?

PMSL Lizz & 2Happy

Well, am back at work for 1 day only and then it is CHRISTMAS!! Whoo!! Considering I was off last week with flu, not one of them has asked me how I am feeling and then proceeded to tell me they didn't put me in our lottery sweepstake last week as I wasn't here to give £1. F*cking hell!

When are we doing SS?

PCF - do you know pink or blue yet? Hope scan went well

I have got a VIP invitation to the NEXT sale. Am very impressed. It is 6.30am tomorrow morning. Oh how much money can I spend

Congrats pcf!! Glad all went well.

PMSL at phone conversations 2H and Lizz. Hope you had a good day yesterday and are feeling better Lizz.

Am v v v v v v of you folks with Next slots. I never get them...grrr...instad I shall join the queues at 5am on Saturday. Although did hear rumours of a 7am start this year. Would prefer a 5am cos no sane person is normally up.

Had a v leisurely day today. Did about an hours work from home, then watched a v bad Xmas film on C5 (had to choke back tears atthe end though). Attempted to hoover although our Dyson's knackered so doesn't really pick up fluff now....need a new one in the sales.

DH and lo back soon. Will be away from MN from tomorrow morning until Fri night. Sob. When will the shakes set in. Am going to Ikea tonight so may not get chance to come back on. If not, have a FAB xmas . YEah - when can I open SS? Am going to pack it to take away with me for Xmas Day at this rate...

I don't understand 'Next Slots'
Can someone please explain!

PCF - Congratulations on DS number 3! One more and you will be a force to rival LTH! I also reckon its just good organisation on your part, as you had so many boys clothes already!

I had a very uneventful day today. DJ was being lovely so that was nice though.
I cleaned out our filthy dirty car interior this afternoon, and found 2 hidden storage compartments underneath the back seat passenger seats! Very exciting though!
And I tried to take some XL tights back to Primark and swap them for L (in case anyone doesn't know this, XL tights in Primark = shorter leg but wider waist, and L = longer leg and less wider waist.) I brought 2 pairs, opened and wore one pair, realised the problem when I read the packet, and then tried to swap the other pair, which were in pristine condition. The B**ch on customer services was having NONE of it, as I'd brought them over 28 days ago. I was livid beyond belief, after queing up for ages to do it. It was a completely reasonable return, nothing dodgy about it at all. But no. I am stuck with stupid tights. I nearly cried in the shop.
We return all sorts of shite from customers with no reciept, open packaging all sorts. But, when I try in another shop, to be nice and reasonable, woe betide I can do it.
I am going to go in discuise and swap them over surrupticiously another day.
Watch this space.
I'll be the one on the news accused of shoplifting a £2 pair of tights in Primark.

  • see - no santa hat even, thats how I am!!!

In other news, my local pub, the Marine in Eastbourne, has now featured in the national press and this evening was on BBC1, South East News. They have mad xmas decorations and its that amazing its been on the telly. Imagine!
Laters, off for a cough. x

rudolphtheROUGEnosedreindeer · 22/12/2008 19:55

Lizz - from what I have gathered a Next slot is where they give you a set time and password to the online sale before it starts in the shops. Think it started for 'privileged' customers (aka BIG spenders!) but I'm guessing they are sending out more now to get stuff sold

PCF - great bargain on the double pulse. And lovely to hear of another DS.

E&H - I have just ordered one of those doll sets. What a bargain! Might give it to E for her birthday. Makes the Fifi set that was half price in Argos seem expensive!

Rgee - hope you survived Ikea. I'll meet you at the Next sale on Sat for a gossip in the queue and coffee/breakfast afterwards. Don;t mind which one we go to.

DH and I enjoyed our child free weekend and PILS loved having both girls but are worn out now. I'm at work tomorrow until 29th so looking forward to getting into the christmas spirit.

All this moldie stuff sounds very bizarre. I only use MN for our thread really, no time for anything else!

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 22/12/2008 20:40

Yes Lizz - NEXT VIP slots are so you can view the sale items in a preview and order before the sale actually starts giving you access to the best bargains. Not sure how I got one - have ordered LOADS recently but sent the majority of it back so not spent much with them. Very cool though - just wish I didn't have to get up at 6.30am to swtich the laptop on and order!

Off to start browsing x

eandh · 22/12/2008 21:14

lOL this is the 1st year I havent got a VIP slot but tbh am trying to save money so in a way its a good thing!

Thsoe sets were such a batgain werent they Vino am umming and aarhing whetehr to order the twin baby annabell set as it'll cost £0 with that code but tbh we have got them both dolls for xmas so seems a waste!

Reggiee · 22/12/2008 22:09

Am signing off for a few days. Have a good Xmas all!

Pink- Glad all went well and congratulations!

EAH that is a complete bargain!

Lizz- Belated Happy birthday for sun x

Lizzzombie · 23/12/2008 14:35

Happy Christmas everyone!
Girl at work explained Next slots to me this morning too. They are selling Maclaren Triumphs for £45!!!!! (half price)

We are off to my parents in Dooooorrrset in the morning, so have a good christmas everyone, and I hope you have all opened your SS presents now! Or are you waiting until after xmas now?!

A neighbour has DJ for 2 hours, so I can get house sorted for our departure, I must pull my finger out.

Good will to everyone, apart from Primark CS woman and a particularly rude man I served earlier today. Who came in twice and was rude twice. Karma darling, karma xxx (apparently it was our fault that he had assumed we would have plenty of Thomas the Tank engine bikes in our tiny little shop the day before xmas eve.) - pah.

xxxxx

eandh · 23/12/2008 15:26

Lizz/DH/Rgee hope you all have a wonderful christmas!

vino your secret santa has emailed me to say your present was posted a while ago, have you received it yet?

I've caved and open my SS pressie, 3 beautiful wooden photo frames (just printed 3 black and white photos and framed them and they are proudly on display now plus some frankencense and mirth oils and ecloths (thankyou I needed new ones!!!)

Did the huge christmas food shop after I picked the kids up last night (well dropped them home to dh then food shop) but forgot red wine, ham, mini eggs and I wanted to get steal to cook tomorrow night so need to pop to Tescos later (oh and batteries I must remember more batteries!)

Spent hours sorting the playroom (have 2 big boxes of toys that I put in the loft) and my Dad popped round and fixed my car light (bulb had gone) fixed dh bike (gear cable had frayed) moved the pine toy box into ellies bedroom and helped me shift some furniture so I could clean, need to have a polish upstairs and mop the floors at some point plus strip all the beds and do the ironing!!!

eandh · 23/12/2008 15:51

Oh new pictures on my profile/facebook

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 23/12/2008 17:57

Yes I got my ss present, picked it up from the post office on saturday and have opened it tonight seeing as everyone else going for it. Got some yummy looking chocolate dippers and a book token, looking forward to choosing a book with it.

I went to sainsburys tonight and it was chocca. Heard 2 employees saying that apparently asda had empty shelves and that sainsburys weren't getting another delivery until saturday and they were already out of quite a lot of stuff. I was only getting bits as we are spending xmas day and boxing day at my parents so no need to shop for turkey etc.

Finished work hooray. Its DHbirthday tomorrow so we are having friends round for sausage butties in the morning then Ellen having haircut at another friends at 12.30, then home for play and maybe make some mince pies.

Happy Christmas to everyone xx

eandh · 24/12/2008 06:17

OMG ellie woke up at 6am ran down the stairs burst into tears and came back up, after lots of 'whats the matter' it appears she thought it was Christmas Day today and that Father Christmas had forgotton to come now the dilema do I tell her that he'll be coming tonight and deal with her over excitement all day or skirt around what date it is

laughalot · 24/12/2008 14:39

Just wanted to nip on and wish you all a very merry christmas and heres to lots of health and happiness in 2009 and lots of lovely new babies .

I will open my ss pressie in the morning but thankyou ss.

Right must peel spuds, do veg, get pudding out of freezer, washing aargh where has the time gone.

theSuburbanDryad · 24/12/2008 15:30

LTH - yes I knew about the Moldies shit. And I knew it would go tits up (just like Narniagate) and I didn't - and don't - want to be involved in it. I'm too much of an old hippy lazy to give a toss, tbh. Also, I want to talk to you about MILs. Mine is doing my head right in, and I need to feel grateful for small mercies and be glad that MIL isn't as bad as yours was!!

Well, I've just sent dh off to pick up our turkey from the butcher's, and he is stood in the queue MSN-ing me from his iPhone. Soooooo glad I didn't go myself now!

I opened my SS present last night and THANK YOU it's perfect, I got an Emily the Strange journal which I can write all my dodgy goth poetry recipes in.

Hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow, with overexcited children rushing about, don't forget the TRUE MEANING of Christmas in all the madness - Dr Who Xmas special on at 6pm tomorrow.

eandh · 24/12/2008 15:33

Just popping in to say Merry Christmas, I hope everyone has a lovely few days and I am going to attempt not to log onto here for a day or two

Although must say just popped to Tescos and filled one tray of my freezer with reduced meat got a leg of lamb from £7.99 to £2, steak for £1.50 etc etc they had fresh turkeys reduced from ~£50 to £18
