Hi yorky and welcome back. Well im no expert but does he have a daytime nap at all ? If so I know its extremly difficult with a newborn but maybe try and stop his nap and hopefully he will sleep a bit longer. Some children are just programmed to wake up early, eah who posts on here will tell you all you need to know about early starts . She is at a funeral today but im sure she will be around later. And the whole baby thing and being tired will get easier I promise I know how hard it is as iv been there and im sure in a years time you will back on asking about how to control two toddlers lol.

Rgee sobs sobs sobs pleeezzzee I think a boy !!! I cried at my scan when I found out I was having lauren I was so convinced it was another boy and I would have been just as happy with that but I think it was the shock .

Thankyou to my secret santa my pressie has come today its difficult to guess whats inside is it a diary maybe ? Ill open when everyone else does.

Right lauren has dumped laters peeps... gosh im common.

Lizzzombie · 19/12/2008 13:02

Hi Yorky - My Ds is the same. I am afraid I leave him in his cot until 6am. If he goes back to sleep then great, but more often than not he screams for a bit ("Heeeelp, Heelp!" being a favourite atm) or chats away to himself with a couple of books/trains. I know its easier as I just have the one child to deal with, but I just pull the duvet over my head until I can face getting up. HTH x

Rgee - If you won't tell us what flavour the baby is, at least tell us which one its not.

2Happy · 19/12/2008 13:16

Yorky -= congrats on the new baby. ds2 was a habitual 5-5.30 riser. We tried all sorts and nothing worked. All those people who love to give smug 'advice' were teling us "oh if he doesn't sleep well by now, he never will. You'll see, he'll be like this until he's 10!" . He has 3h sleep of an afternoon (prepares to duck from missiles thrown by various Januarys), but in fact sleeps a lot worse if he doesn't get his proper nap (ds1 is similar - he's 3.6 now and only now starting to think about dropping his 1.5hr afternoon nap!). But one thing has improved his early wakening - randomly enough, putting him into a big boys bed. We'd tried him in his cot in another room (in case we were disturbing him overnight) and he was awful. But for some reason, he's perfect(ish) out of the cot and in a bed - which is weird because ds1 was an absolute nightmare to put into a bed. It took him a week or so to adjust, then he was great. (Then ds1 decided to start getting up at silly o'clock instead, but that's another story!) I've no idea if it would make any difference at all to you, but may be worthing thinking about if you've tried averything else!

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 19/12/2008 14:47

Hi Yorky - I think whatever you do you need to be consistent and DH needs to do the same thing you are doing. Our little cherub wakes about 6am but we go in, settle him back down and leave him to go back off until 7am (which I deem acceptable )

My sis has twins who wake at 5.30am and nothing she does gets them back to sleep! Personally I think LO is too young to stop daytime nap (if he has one) but it is your call. Our DS has 1.5hrs at about 1pm.

LAL - I cried at my 20 week scan just from the sheer awe of it. I think this one will be another blue one but I really don't mind. The only reason I want a girl is to dress her in cutesy clothes - boys stuff is DULL! Trousers/shirt/trousers/top...yawn!

Having a battle of wills here at lunch and dinner time. J is being a little sod and won't eat (yet he eats like a dream at nursery). So I have started counting to three and then chucking it in the bin to make a point! He went mental at lunchtime but I am sick of messing about. Too harsh or right thing to do??

laughalot · 19/12/2008 15:44

Wilkie he will eat if he is starving so stick to your guns. It is nice having a dd to dress up but like you say having the same sex is fine too . I cried at my 20 week scan with aidan but for more horrible reasons I had to have the amnio to rule out down syndrome . Lauren has decided she dosent want a daytime nap any longer but at 5 oclock is ready for bed nice but I miss that bit of time in the afternoon.

Lizzzombie · 19/12/2008 17:35

Wilkie - How far are you gone now? THink of all the £ you'll save on clothes if its another boy - more £ to spend on yourself!

DJ is a rubbish eater at home. Totally does my head in as at nursery he will eat it all up and his key workers think I am making it up as he is such a good eater there. But he often eats nothing at all with me. He would survive on milk and fruit and chocolate if he had his way!

Evening

Its been a long emotionally draining day and I am heading to bed in a mo but

Yorky - on eof my dd's is always up by 6am (7am is considered a lay in here) dd1 did it from birth till recently (shes 4.3 now) these days she will lay in to around 7 and even 8, however, dd2 still wakes early. I've given up on any theories, Hattie naps 2/3 days a week for around 30-40 minutes but goes to bed 6-6.30 with no hassle and doesnt wake in the night (dd1 is another story again )

Wilkie - Hattie always been a very good eater unless shes poorly, although shes been testing me lately by pushing her dinner plate down the table, she does it I offer it she says no so I say I'll put it in the bin she says no and then will eat (or if shes being lazy she gets Ellie to feed her )Oh and I had lots more niggles 2nd time round think because everything has been streched befire it feels different

Rgee - hope you are feeling better today and I think its another girl (although was convinced you were having a boy)

2happy - hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UD - hope you got something to clear bladder infection up

PCF - at your Mum (and feeling very grateful that my Mum had the girls today and will have them again on Monday when I go to work)

DH & I both working tomorrow, originally MIL having girls but I think shes had a tiring enough week and my Dad has offered to have them, so they are taking my Mum to work then off to the cafe for breakfast and then hopefully Hattie will sleep for my Dad, back to get Mum at 12.30 and I should be home just after 1. DH out again tomorrow night so dont expect he'll be much help Sunday (and I am pissed off with Christmas as this is his 3rd night out and I had to leave one of mine because it was the day his Nan died, another one I missed because he'd already paid the deposit for his and I was meant to go out tomorrow night but friend is ill )

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 19/12/2008 22:05

EAH - hope it went as 'well' as it can go. Also thanks re reassurance about niggles. I just feel really weird, loads more aware of my growing uterus (I know that sounds weird) and feel like I am literally about to start my period. Have spent the last couple of days rushing to the loo expecting to find blood. Rang the MW and she was lovely saying it's very common but you know me, if there is nothing to worry about then I'll worry about it

Thanks for non-eater advice girls, think that maybe it's a phase at this stage. Just annoys me that his nursery sheet always says 'had seconds!' of his meal

PCF - when is your 20 week scan? Are you finding out sex? I think a girl for you.

Lizz - am 15 weeks. Getting definite tiny kicks every now and again. I felt really early last time too - about 16-17 weeks.

Not much to report. DH has been in a foul mood all day which was lovely whilst we attempted our Christmas Asda Shop with a fractious 2 year old. Spent £150. Fuuuuccckk!

Got my SS BTW thank you

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 19/12/2008 22:11

Oh and I know I am being dull but tres amusing conversation with J last night - an hour after he should have been asleep:

Me: Yes they are next week now go to sleep

Me: Right, time for sleep
J: ...Me cheeky...

..........arghhhhh!!! He just makes me giggle....right am off now I have bored you with my dull child stories Tell me your recent funny convos.

eandh · 20/12/2008 07:14

It was a beautiful service the vicar that married us/sil& bil and has chrsitened all the grandchildren did the service an d he added lots of fab stories about Nanny and them. I spent all of the wake making tea/coffee and washing up/clearing up so MIL could chat to the other people and tbh it kept me busy!

Hatties convos go like this
H 'Mama'
Me 'yes'
H 'Eh ee (ellie) hit'
Me No Elle at school/upstairs etc (ie no where near here)
H Eh ee hit

laughalot · 20/12/2008 10:17

This is our house as l says bugger all.

Me: Lauren get in your buggy we need to fetch aidan
Lauren: Bye
Me: Get in your buggy
Lauren: Bye

Get the picture

theSuburbanDryad · 20/12/2008 10:38

Wilkie - I'm told it's very normal for toddlers who have previously been good eaters to go through a phase at this age of narrowing down what they eat. Z has become quite fussy all of a sudden (this is the child who would eat smoked salmon and capers ) and although he still eats quite well, if he's presented with anything even faintly interesting or new he won't even try it, just push his bowl away with, "No like it. Pasta." Infuriating child! I wonder if they eat well at nursery because the food is more tailored towards kids' tastes - for example at Z's nursery they'll have moussaka but it won't have aubergine in, or they'll do a curry but it'll be a really mild one IYSWIM - and also because they're on a rotated menu? Z's nursery is on a 10 week rotated menu, so they don't do "new" stuff so much.

Anyway, I was told that the reason toddlers go through this phase is because when we were all living in caves, at around this age children would start to find food for themselves, and as a precaution their taste buds would narrow so they didn't poison themselves!! No idea if there's any basis for this (dh says it sounds like bollox to him! ) but it's a good theory and I'm using it to justify why Z has beans on toast every lunch we're at home together!!

Mine and Z's conversations are getting quite involved. We're also getting into poo denial.
Me: Have you done a poo?
Z: No.
Me: Are you sure?
Z Yes. George. (He is currently obsessed with Curious George)
Me: George? Did George do a poo in your nappy?
Z: Yes!!

He's also started to dress himself, so we have some wonderful combinations, he's currently running around in his Muppet pyjamas and wellies! I'm sure he thinks he looks great!

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 20/12/2008 11:55

UD - J has his wellies on!!!!!!!! With back to front trousers. He HAS to dress himself. Nightmare when you are rushing!!

Interesting theories although the nursey one doesn't work for us. Nursery employ a retired oldish lady who sources her own produce, all organic and cooks traditional food - the menu changes on a weekly basis (which I think is brilliant) - my mouth waters every time I go in as the cooking smells are DIVINE. I LOVE J's nursery. Am so happy with it. My theory is that they eat well at nursery as they are copying all of the other children.

LAL - PMSL at L. J constantly says 'yes' to everything I ask him: What would you like to do?...Yes. What would you like to eat...Yes. He does it when he's tired.

He is currently drinking a cup of tea and watching Barney - he keeps telling me the tea is hot and burning his mouth but is still gulping it back so I'm guessing it is fine!!!!

Am bored today - not venturing out as everywhere is manic. I wish there was a park nearby.

Oh and my nipple juice has already arrived. It started early last time but I think it is quite ridiculous this early. Woke up with a soggy sheet! Nice.

Hello everyone.
I am still ill.
I feel shite. And the worse thing is, everytime I hack my guts up coughing wee comes out as I've slacked off on pilates/pelvic floor exercise. I'm turning into an old woman. I'll be buying TENA next. I've cancelled my birthday as its so cold and damp and I feel so ill. Balls to it all. My feet hurt. Has anyone on FB seen the recent group I've joined about how all customers are shit. Its really funny. To all of those of you who work in the service industries do have a look it will make you laugh! Especially at this time of year. Fuckers. You'de think I'd only have nice customers. Am feeling evil. I think I need chocolate. x

Lizzzombie · 20/12/2008 18:51

stomp stomp stomp.
bah humbug!

eandh · 20/12/2008 18:56

Come to mine, dh out, girls in bed (1 asleep 1 fart arsing about) we'll get a takeaway and watch Strictly come dancing

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 20/12/2008 19:55

So come on then - who to win Strictly? Have just voted for Rachel. I think Tom is by far the poorest but bet he wins cos he is 'hot'

Lisa Snowdon too simpering for me

eandh · 20/12/2008 20:01

Not Tom but think Rahcel is up her own bum and Lisa improved the most ideally I would have liked to have seen Austin in the final

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 20/12/2008 20:03

Yes but it should be about the dancing and Rachel is surely the best dancer

eandh · 20/12/2008 20:22

get off that box love

oooo my neighbour just dropped a parcel round and its my ss pressie - can I open it can I open it????

Reggiee · 20/12/2008 20:45

Feeling a little better, finally. But not much sleep last night. Dh out on another works do last night and came to bed after 1am. Yawn. Lo woke at 5am again with the recent coughing fit. Yawn. Have I said yawn? Dh reading over my shoulder. Bugger off before I say something realy rude.

PCF and Lizz muchos sympathy. Think I missed which of the many diseases you have Lizz? I'm on the mend from the hacking cough / sinusitis after 10 days.

Eah glad yesterday went ok.

Hmm...funny things they say? Am rubbish at remembering funny things lo does. Erm... today she sang the full round and round the garden song but then told me off for tickling her at the relevant point "naguhty mummy no tickles"....erm...she was playing with her fairy toadstool playhouse this morning "fairies eat apples" then farted and looked at me saying "trump" then immediately went back to her playhouse "snail eat apples" as if nothing had happened.

She's too lazy to dress herself though. If I ask her to help mummy pull up trousers / tights etc it's always "mummy do it". She always like a choice of outfit though and worryingly always goes for the most girly option. As a tomboy, I'm not sure I approve of this pink dress fetish

So finally put up lo's new toddler bed. Aim to get some furniture after Xmas and spend lo's birthday money on soft furnishings for her room, then move her in. Any tips anyone? 2H you must be the big bed expert.

eandh · 20/12/2008 20:56

Just plonk her in there Rgee (actually my 2 were both fine after the first night!) eaten my dinner and trying to decide whether to go to bed as although I ws exhausted last night I couldnt get to sleep and was still awake at 2am

Dilema here :- dh best mate (who is both the girls godfather and is also the one getting a divorce) popped the girls presents round tonight, now normally we spend around £10 on each child, however, I spoke to my friend (his soon to be ex wife) and we decided £5 limt per child so went ahead got teh presents and seeing her Tuesday to swap. Anyway he pops round saying that these are from him and also to say thankyou for being so supportive to him this year (he has spent lots of time in and out of our house and I think DH has been a very good shoulder for him during the last 6-12 months) he has spent over £40 on each of them (I have the receipt) he earns very good money so that isnt the issue the main thing is that what he has bought Ellie she already has (was a joint 3rd birthday present from my Nan and 2 aunts) so do I take it back and swap it or give HAttie Ellie's old one and Ellie has the new one?????? (thats another dilema as Eddas was getting Hattie a cheaper version for her birthday)

Reggiee · 20/12/2008 21:19

Take it back and exchange I say.
