Suey dd also became lactose intolerant for a while after a bug, she was on soya formula for a few months and then was ok again, I made the switch back gradually and at the first sign of a reaction put her back on full soya until she was just ok with normal formula again.

claireybaubles · 15/12/2008 15:30

Wizz, Arcadie, congrats to walking babies!

BT sounds like the sleep is going great, well done Daniel for cracking it and you for helping him along, depending on how my parents say ds was this weekend I might try to be firm myself tonight-he hasn't had bf's at night for two nights now after all... (easier said than done though because I always give in as soon as he starts crying and pulling at my top)

Caz the sleeping babies=second child sooner thing wasn't true for me but ds was conceived around the time dd went down from 3 night wakings so maybe not coincidence!

Fifi hope you all feel better soon

Beckle I'm not sure we are going to brave a proper tree this year, ds will just destroy it! I have a couple of small ones so may just use those this year. Feel a bit of a scrooge though! Might make paperchains with dd so the house looks more decorated, she'll have fun doing them (and I'll be trying to hold in my control freakery like I was when she and I made the christmas cards together!)

suey2 · 15/12/2008 15:30

thanks clairey/ clara i will be so relieved if the switch works. Poor wee lamb, the diarrhoea really distresses her

Wizzcarol · 15/12/2008 15:38

Grr, am a little put out. Just found out it is my work's christmas dinner tonight and I'm not invited this year. Not that I don't hate it, and dread it as the worst night of the year. But to not even tell me about it is a bit much, considering only 3 of us work here ft, plus the retired chairman. Should I take it as a cue to clear my desk?

insywinsyspider · 15/12/2008 15:43

wizz - I kept ds1 on formula at night (in beaker) till he was 2 because after d&v when he was 7 months he became cows milk protein intollerant, dry skin patches and horrible poo - I think its quite common (it sounds like it is from everyone on here) he was on goats milk/yoghurt and hard cheese till he was two as apparently the protein is easier to digest, we were advised by doc to advoid soya for boys as it has naturally occuring female hormones but that was prob because he was 7 months. ds2 doesn't seem to be having any probs with cows milk - I'm going to brave the switch over xmas but prob keep giving formula for a while longer as his main night time drink - I find it reassuring that he has a good vit and mineral boost at the end of the day, makes me more relaxed if he's having an off week with his eating

first day back at work for me and so far so good although it feels very lesuirely compared to rushing around at home, boys did morning settlingin at nursery with dh and apparently it didn't go well hoping friday is better for them as we don't have an alternative.

clara - sorry to hear your feeling bit down but glad you're feeling better today x

BT - you are sounding v positive and it sounds like things are going well with daniel too x x

skid - congrats to your dh! how's your write up going? difficult time of year to get motivated to do that I should imagine

ds2's bday tomorrow! ds1 spent yesterday walking round house singing 'happy birthday tooobeee' its really cute

insywinsyspider · 15/12/2008 15:46

wizz - thats rubbish that you weren't invited, I'd be really offended (sorry realised that doesn't help!)

BouncingTinsel · 15/12/2008 20:20

Wizz - that is a bit shit...

BouncingTinsel · 15/12/2008 20:20

Wizz - that is a bit shit...

BouncingTinsel · 15/12/2008 20:25

Aghhh don't know what happened to my last post!

Insy -sorry to hear the settling session didn't go well.. hope the next one is better.

Suey - hope dd gets over her diarrhoea soon!

Well saw my boss, it went well he was very sympathetic. He has asked I consider coming back and working out my notice 2 days a week after my sick leave was finished. I said I would definitely consider it.
I would get my normal pay as well during this period. So it could be a good idea.

becklespeckle · 16/12/2008 00:26

Fifi, well done DS for using the potty! You will probably find that a couple of weeks ago he was not quite ready and now he is, 2 weeks is quite a long time in their development at his age! Poor you with a chest infection , hope it clears up before Christmas for you.

Clairey, oohh, I would brave the tree anyway! DD loves it, her little face is all amazement when I switch the lights on! She hasn't tried to pull anything off of it today either, she was so cute yesterday though - while we were putting baubles on it, she was putting her toys on it!

Clara, DD is also cutting her molars, all four now have 1 or more points through. She has also cut her top 2 canines (!). I don't know if it is the teeth that have been bothering her but she has been sleeping terribly (on and off) for a few weeks now - I put a lot of it down to the amount of colds she's had lately but suspect that some of the snot was teething...

BT, well done to Daniel drinking some Cow's Milk! Evie quite likes it and drinks it with no fuss (as opposed to formula which she would never touch). She has not been as regular since she has been totally on cow's milk but she's not constipated either, mind you, she has been off her food since the Chicken Pox so is difficult to know if that is the reason or the milk. Great news about work too, that must be a bit of a weight off your mind!

Insy, sorry the boys' settling in session didn't go well at nursery, I am sure they will be fine when they have to do it for real. I have worked in a playgroup (2.5-5 year olds so older than DS2) and even the most hysterical of children have calmed down within a few minutes of their parent's departure. It'll be fine, and if they don't settle then at least they are somewhere safe while you look for something more suited to their needs.

Wizz, I'd be peed off too, cheeky sods!

fifisboys · 16/12/2008 08:59

Morning everyone

Beckle - We had really good progress yesterday. DS1 used his potty all day and most of the time went to use it himself without me asking him if he needed it. He had one accdent when i was in the bath and he said he wanted his potty but i couldnt get out in time, but im so pleased with him.
I am at work today so will try and get him to go on before we go to sils and put him in his underpants until he gets there and see how he goes.

Insy - Sorry the settling session didnt go too well. I hope that they settle soon once they get used to it.

BT - Excellent news about work!!! I'm glad Daniels ok with the cows milk. Ethan started drinking it , not intentionly, when we were on holiday in September. I had taken 2 big boxes of formula with me but the last 2 days was running out so mil had got him some milk from the restaurant one morning and he was fine with it. So when we came back we weaned him off the formula that we had left at home and he hasnt had any since October

Clara - No molors here yet, in fact ethan has only got 2 teeth at the bottom an one at the top thats halfway through!!

BouncingTinsel · 16/12/2008 09:34

Fifi - well done ds1!!

fifisboys · 16/12/2008 09:55

He's had a poo on his potty !!!

Sorry just thought id share that with you all!!!

BouncingTinsel · 16/12/2008 11:32

LOL!!

Another pat on the head for ds1

becklespeckle · 16/12/2008 14:33

Well done Fifi's DS1! , sounds like he is doing marvellously! I wouldn't worry about the cow's milk since October either - I was told by HV in October that it is fine from 6 months as long as the child has a balanced diet. They say formula or BM until 1 because some babies don't have good diets and they have to cover for them. I give it to Evie now although I tend to buy Yeoville Organic stuff as the salt content is much lower than Tescos own (it's only a penny dearer too).

Hi BT!

claireybaubles · 16/12/2008 18:02

Last night ds slept 7-12, dummy back in hand on back for a couple of mins then back to sleep til....

6.30!!!!!

He has never gone back to sleep without being picked up before!

Parents said that Saturday night he was really unsettled and they had to keep going to him and resettling but that on sunday he only woke twice and the first time he just wanted a cuddle and the second he went back to sleep with my mum rubbing his back. Thought I'd give it a try last night but wasn't expecting results that good!

claireybaubles · 16/12/2008 18:03

Well done to your ds1 fifi! Sounds like he is doing really well

insywinsyspider · 16/12/2008 19:22

hello,

fifi - sounds like the potty training is going really well!

clairey - big for ds! its amaziong what a difference being one makes its like they suddenly turn a corner

think we're all getting sick now, ds1 has high temp (has since yesterday afternoon) I still sent him to cm (bad parent I know feeling guilty but was second day at work and I need paying ) think one of us will have to be off tomorrow - hoping dh will step in as he has one day hol left... this is crap, he's had all year to be ill and have me 100% now its a real conflict of what to do, at least with cm he just chilled on sofa with telly and slept when he needed too, I'm feeling rubbish and can only take paracetamol think its time to go to bed....

ArchangelGabrieldie · 16/12/2008 19:48

Claireybaubles Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Sleeping babies !!!!!!!!! Woooo hoooo

Fifi Congrats on the potty training - you go gurl. How well is he doing!?

Insy Rubbbbish for you being ill. Be well before Christmas. HATE having to put dcs in nursery when they're a bit poorly. Hate having to explain why I can't come to work when they're too poorly. Really hate the "it's your turn" arguments with DH about who should have the day off to be with them. God be praised I haven't had to do it since returning to work with Imo in Sept.

BT Yay for Cows milk. Seems to be agreeing with Imogen. Hope it continues to nourish both our dcs. really hope you're feeling better and that the drugs do work.

Clara Not a molar in sight here - but red cheeks, gnawing, dodgy poo for about 2 months without a single extra tooth.

Only 2 more days of work for me. So excited - but DS has been a proper whingebag today and DD is quite tricky to watch when we're out and about. I am beginning to wonder what I've let myself in for being a SAHM.

mellymincepies · 16/12/2008 21:22

Hello Everyone,
Soooooo much to catch up on!!

Been crazy week here Kaesha had D&V last week but luckily recovered in time for her Birthday bash on Saturday. It only took her opening two presents to totally suss it and after that everyone that walked in with a present she was immediately kneeling up with her hands in the air!! No one's pressies will be safe at xmas!

Have got my pre-op meeting at the hospital tomorrow, I feel really nervous, I wish they didn't have to tell you every tiny thing that could go wrong, I would rather be ignorant and just get it over with!

Clairey that's great on the sleeping front - it feels so great, I can't remember now who said did they think there was a link between sleeping babes and wanting more - I would say definitely, as soon as Kaesha had had a week of sleeping through I thought hmmm maybe we could have another, whereas before that I couldn't even comprehend it!!

Kaesha is showing no interest in attacking our tree at all, I thought she would be all over it, but she would rather try and take every cupboard apart in the kitchen, sabotage the xbox, remote controls, phone, laptop, log basket, magazine rack, laundry basket, house plants..........

mellymincepies · 16/12/2008 21:24

No molars here either just two at the bottom and two at the top.

Am I the only one who has not bought a present or written a card yet?!

BouncingTinsel · 17/12/2008 05:53

Insy - poor you! Hope you and the rest of the brood feel better soon.

Clairey - woohoo!! Sleep! Sadly DS's sleeping through only last 4 nights, he woke up at 3.30am yesterday morning, then 5am then 6am.
Fed him each time.
This morning, he woke up at 2.30am, DH managed eventually to settle him, but he then woke up at 4am. Dh went to settle him but no joy so fed him at 4.30am. He then proceeds to piss about in his cot, DH got up at 5am (as he has to be out of the hosue at 6am today!) I brought DS in my bed but he just kept crawling around the bed, crawling over me and just been a PITA. So I got up with him.

Arcadie - ds has also had episodes of teething badly lately but no sign of tooth number 8!

insywinsyspider · 17/12/2008 07:51

after feeling really down about it all last night ds1 woke up today without a temp! he was only up once at 3am for a drink and more meds, hoping ds2 manages not to get it, I'm not full of cold, don't work fridays so only today and tomorrow to get thro
luckerly dh has been lovely about taking time off, he rang his manager and a couple of colleagues about 9pm last night to say ds1 was ill and he won't be in till lunchtime cause I was going to work the am and we'd have two half days each so at least I'd be in during my first week back, feeling very guilty as realised neither ds1 or ds2 really know anytime without me being there, ds1 was 18 months when I last stopped work, dh is getting fed up because they've only been asking for me (or in ds2 case screaming blue murder till I take him then he leans over and grins at dh! makes him and at same time - its hard when you are trying to say lets do parenting fairly and the dc's only want their mummy)

BT - 4 nights is still good - at least you know he can do it, I find that strengthen my resolve to 'sleep train' ds2 when he did a few nights in a row sleeping as I knew he was more than able

melly - I've still got loads of xmas stuff to do - put tree up on Sunday and ds2 keeps pulling it down (the decision to get a fake one was a good one!) got stack of parcels to post and I'm sure I've forgotten someones xmas card and they'll be offened!

BouncingTinsel · 17/12/2008 10:21

Just sent out my Xmas ecards so I am happy!

It was DS's Xmas party yesterday at nursery, he had a great time apparently! He had a photo taken on Santa's knee and was very good and he got a present. Couple of the staff noted he was happily dancing to the music during most of the party! Perhaps I have a Strictly Come Dancing contestant of the future lol.

Been baking biscuits today to take into nursery, hope they are okay as baking is not my forte....

cazzybabs · 17/12/2008 10:23

MELLY - i have 2 presents left to buy, but haven't eben bought any cards yets. I refuse to pay £4 of £5 pound for 8...
