OK here we are ladies!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Amani · 26/11/2008 13:42

No chance of catching up - you ladies talk too much
insy - all the best with telling your boss and who gives a stuff what everyone else says. Your babies will grow up together and even though it may be hard work now, it will get easier.....

skidaddle · 26/11/2008 15:06

Good luck for tomorrow insy - let us know how it goes and another big CONGRATULATIONS from me - as Melly says, it will be lovely for the three of them as they get older and for you when we're still struggling with a newborn and yours are all at school!

OUCH clairey at boobs although it is somewhat reassuring to know I'm not the only one, if that's not too mean! I think I have a blister too and read the best thing is to put a hot compress on it for half an hour before feeding - yeah right, like I have half an hour to sit around holding a warm towel to my boob before a feed, and even if I did I doubt DS would be so patient!

I don't have an ironing DH but then he doesn't have an ironing DW either - nothing ever gets ironed in our house except for job interviews and weddings!

melly - Kaesha is gorgeous!! And yes big In the Night garden fans in my house too - but Upsy Daisy more than Iggle piggle. Thought it was quite cute at first - now I am sick to the back teeth of it!

Ah yes the joy of snotty boobs - we'll probably be nostalgic at the though once we've stopped BF - or then again maybe not...

Wizzska · 26/11/2008 20:22

Poor you insy with your puky baby. We're over that now but it took ages. I was heartily sick of all the washing.

Good luck with telling your boss.

DS loves In hte Night Garden too. He gets excited with the Ninky Nonk's noises.

mellymooks · 26/11/2008 21:04

Thanks Skid! She's so cheeky, she keeps me on my toes big styley!
I'm not too wound up by The Night Garden yet, and I got v. excited yesterday as The Wottingers (the little blue people) came out of their house - which never happens!! How sad am I!?!
I've been signed off work for another 2 months as I'm STILL waiting for an op date. It's getting really frustrating now, I hate struggling to hear what people are saying all the time and I just end up smiling and nodding and hoping I'm not missing/or agreeing to anything vital!

insywinsyspider · 26/11/2008 22:20

thanks for all your lovely messages I met another 'friend' today who started off with 'I've heard a rumour your pg again you must be mad' and now getting now starting to lay it on thick about how excited we are which shut her up and decided not going to find out what sex is either as you guys all know I'd love a DD but am also getting annoyed with the 'are you trying for a DD' comments as if another DS would be second best, as I said when ds was born I was a little disappointed but I'd never go around openly saying that, FFS, and completely seperate from how my I loves my boys

does anyone have any legal expertise? the maternity policy might be changing at work, can they changing it for me even though I'm pregnant now? I'm kind of hoping I'm entitled to the one that was valid when I got pg... but no idea - something else to stress about

i should really be talking bout ds2 as thats what this thread is about not new baby organising so update is ds2 still pukey, wants to eat but then chucks it up, I've been cleaning floors all day and then dh comes homes picks him up just before he's about to throw up and gets it all in the sink the man has a gift I think he should be a SAHH and I should be the breadwinner - if only he could do pregnancy too....

insywinsyspider · 26/11/2008 22:21

ahhh wizzka don't tell me it took ages I'm hoping its a 24hr bug! [and very hopeful emotion]

BouncingTurtle · 27/11/2008 11:20

Poor insy with pukey baby, hope ds2 feels better.
Am at your idiot well-meaning but clueless friends! I think the thing is that people feel they have to comment on some way or another!
And yes we want to hear about your pgcy! Keep us up to date!

Congrats again btw

Wizzska · 27/11/2008 16:33

Melly, hope you get a date for your op soon. You must be going mad with waiting.

Insy - sorry, the bug took 10 days to leave DS. Sick every night, and he lost weight. But he's fine now thank goodness. These things pass. DH lost about 10lbs with the bug as he had it for a week. I need to lose the weight and I had it for a poxy 12 hours! When I got it I was quite glad (how sad am I?) and looked forward to a week of weight loss like DH.

Oh goodness Skid, I hoped we were all over the painful boobs probs now the babies are older. Am wanting to give up now, since DS will be one on Tuesday, but he seems keener than ever to have my milk. He's always tugging at my jumper. And I've got more milk again since he was ill, as he couldn't keep formula down him. Before then I'd got it down to a quick couple of mins in the morning and at night. Now I'm dreading engorgement if I give up.

claireybee · 27/11/2008 16:36

One on Tuesday

Where has the year gone????

Feeling a bit teary now

skidaddle · 27/11/2008 16:43

Yes same here wizz - DS is teething and feeding loads so don;t know how to start the whole stopping thing. I suppose to reduce engorgement you just need to stop very gradually - first get back to just two feeds a day, then just do morning feeds for example, then after a few days do them every other day etc. Hopefully it should be quite painless...

My worry is that DS will be traumatised. There is nothign he loves more than a feed, and is always so ridiculously excited when he sees me pulling my top up! I'm not in any rush though so I think I will take my time and hope he adapts OK.

Melly - if you are sad, I am sadder, I was just literally the other day sayig to DH, I wonder why the Pontipines always come out of their house but the Wottingers never come out of theirs!

Insy - sorry no idea about legal things and maternity leave - I take it telling your boss didn't go too well then? Am on your behalf for all the comments about you being pg again and puting a dampener on such a happy occasion.

Still suffering with boobs - someone in the breastfeeding forum told me to stick a needle in my nipple!!! Not sure whether to follow her advice!!

BouncingTurtle · 28/11/2008 11:28

Wizz - is that the 1st 1st birthday on this thread then?

Hoep you guys can help me here

Been feeling very low but being trying to hide it

claireybee · 28/11/2008 11:50

BT I saw your other thread but afraid I don't have any practical advice oher than to second Sueys advice of seeing GP. Other than that I can listen.... (sorry useless I know, hopefully the working mums will be more use to you )

Wizzska · 28/11/2008 13:03

Skid, I suffered big time with cracked, blistered and bleeding nipples in the early days. There's not much you can do about it in my experience. Mine got sorted out after a couple of months of suffering when I went to the docs for ABs for mastitis. I think it was then that DS also learned to latch on properly but Milo must surely be able to do that. I would keep needles firmly away from my nipples!!

I'm sad too. I seem to have the tune from Charlie and Lola constantly in my head or from In the Night Garden. What is with the Wottingers? Why are they so antisocial? Oh, and I secretly dream that I could commute to work on the Pinky Ponk.

mellymooks · 28/11/2008 19:33

The Wottingers are very mysterious and why are the Pontipines controlled by the bell? And why is Makka Pakka compelled to always pile his stones in 3's?!

I have definitely been exposed to too much Night Garden!!

Yes it's really frustrating waiting for a date I just keep getting pushed down the list..ah well.
I've done my back in now as well and my man has had to stay home today as I can't lift my girl at all got some really strong painkillers from the doc, took one then fell asleep when I woke up I couldn't feel my face! (ahh reminded me of times gone by in my ancient reckless past )

Right can't type anymore as hurting my neck, how did our babies get to be one so fast? It doesn't seem possible....

skidaddle · 29/11/2008 11:29

I think Makka Pakka has a touch of OCD - what with his Og Pog and piling up stones in neat little piles - he is my favourite, he's lovely!

Poor you melly hope the pain killers are working and fingers crossed for a date soon

Wizz - I'm sure it's not latch-related. Think it might be something to do with blocked ducts (hence the needle -although was too chicken to try it!)

Oh, and Happy birthday to Rory!!! Post some birthday pics when you can

How are your boobs clairey (now there's a question you don't often ask someone!)? - they sounds even worse than mine

insywinsyspider · 29/11/2008 20:03

skid - I told my boss on thursday and he supprised the socks off me - said congratulations and not to stress as v bad for baby he also said I'd set a president so when I come back next time not pg he wouldn't believe me but really was lovely about it

my friends are still clueless so just going ott on excitement, just found out my sil is due in july which is exciting although is it really pesimistic of me to be praying nothing goes wrong with either pg now?

it got much worse on sick front here, ds2 did have 24hr thing, yay! both ds's fine on Thurs, ds1 starts being sick about 10pm on Thurs (and in the night gets into bed with us, I'm too sleepy to realise and he's sick in our bed at 2am) I start being sick at 3am, ds1 has stopped after 12 hours and I'm still on anti nausea tablets as I think the baby is taking everything it can and the combination of bug and morning sickness isn't working out at all but at least gp was great, did home visit and prescibed tablets because nhs direct told me to go to hosp and get admitted I don't think I've ever had advice from NHS direct that I've used! dh now feels like a ticking time bomb and is waiting to go down with it

my dh and bil often have conersations about the 'sub text' of ITNG, you can tell they both have toddlers! they reckon Makka Pakka has OCD too! they also get very annoyed at scaling, like how can the Pinky Ponk fly under the bridge, god knows what they talked about before children

BT - off to look at your thread x

BouncingTurtle · 29/11/2008 20:56

Insy - oh no at your house of puke! Hope it all passes soon.
Sounds like your boss took your pg news well, did he mention anything more about your maternity policy?

I think ITNG is one of things better appreciated when pissed

suey2 · 30/11/2008 11:52

fantastic insy! Must be a weight off your mind

mellymooks · 30/11/2008 14:43

Am liking the idea that Makka Pakka has ocd!

Also how is it possible that the Pontipines have 10 children who all appear to be the same age? We have decided that they must procreate via their hats!

Glad your boss was nice Insy.

Ambi · 30/11/2008 15:10

Hiya, I've not caught up with reading what I've missed yet but wanted to post on this spanking new thread as iit's all shiny and new.

I'm currently recovering from the MN Xmas Do, it was so nice to put some faces to the names.

BouncingTurtle · 30/11/2008 20:04

Ambi - hope you had a great time!

Melly - clearly the Pontipines have never heard of contraception!!

And I have to admit I was very disturbed when I saw the tomboliboos without their trousers on

Poor ds has been so out of sorts this weekend
He has had a cold on and off for last couple of months, when I picked him up at nursery his keyworker mentioned he had been very quiet in the afternoon, just wanted to sit and be cuddled and watch the other babies play - he was sat with another baby next to her when I arrived (40 minutes later due to a 4 car shunt on the A19 ).
Not like him, as he is normally into everything. He's been like this all weekend, not really wanting to play wit his toys except for brief spurts, hasn't cruised at all today and he is normally all over the place getting into trouble exploring his boundries. He has been quite tired and has had several naps today, usually dozing off on me or DH.
He did have a fairly bad night last night, but he has had much worse and still been active and happy the next day.
I just hope he isn't coming down with something.
DH is off tomorrow, was supposed to be going for job interview but is not going now, so we may keep him off nursery tomorrow. Otherwise he'll just go in for half a day.

insywinsyspider · 30/11/2008 20:42

BT - hope ds is back to normal self soon, ds1 did this a couple of weeks ago, I figured he was fighting something off and just kept him hydrated and let him sleep.
Boss didn't mention Mat policy but I emailed HR for a meeting and my rep said no rush for meeting as very little changed with policy so will sit down for 'copmpletness' when I return in couple of weeks, sounds like changes in the pipeline don't affect me! feeling much much less stressed and trying not to focus on returning to work the week before xmas and on xmas itself!

melly - never considered they are all same age - guess BT is right should be pissed to watch (although social services might have something to say about that seeing as its on at 6.30pm )

becklespeckle · 01/12/2008 01:13

Hi all, hope all the poorly babies are recovering now and everyone is okay! DD has been poorly too, she too has had chicken pox and was a little trooper! Definitely a better age to get it than when my boys had it (4 & 6.5). She stopped being infectios Thursday and woke up as a snot-monster on Friday, poor little lady . She has been sleeping really badly since the chicken pox although managed to go through until 5 this morning and then back to sleep in my bed so hopefully she will be going back to her normal 8-7.30 sleeping pattern soon (touch wood).

She is now only BF in the morning and before bed but like many of you I no longer feel comfortable feeding her in public so her bedtime milk is always upstairs now, mind you, it is a nice special quiet time for us and I will miss it. Am going to start giving her milk from her cup in the mornings once her cold has cleared and see how that goes, am aiming to stop BFing before Christmas, never intended to do it beyond 6 months so I am pleased to have managed nearly 11! She still will not touch formula but she likes cow's milk (which she has in the afternoons) so I am hoping she will be happy to take it.

She is babbling away all the time and will have 'conversations' with us, she knows just what she is trying to say although we have no idea! She has also started taking quite a few steps in the last few days and can now walk around 10 steps unaided - she wants to walk all the time but has no patience with slow and steady so falls over an awful lot!

Other news in the Speckle household is that DS1 has been made a Superkid at school! It is an award they give out to children who consistently try hard and do their best - so proud! DS2 is taking a key role in his first Christmas play and DH is still (unfortunately) looking for work but we are doing okay, staying afloat and keeping fingers crossed for the New Year and all the opportunities it may bring!

Think it's a great idea to start the list up again, can't believe Rory will be 1 on Tuesday! Where has the year gone! There are quite a few people missed of the list on the old thread I think - me and Evie included! Although perhaps that is because she was so overdue and arrived in January! Is she the youngest on the thread (due 27th December - born 8th January)???

Insy CONGRATULATIONS!!! Am so pleased for you! I won't lie to you, it is hard work with 3 but so worth it! The 2 things I find hardest of all are keeping up with the ironing and the daily school run (terrible at mornings anyway though...).

Another sleeping BF baby here... Evie has nearly always slept at least 6 hours a night from birth and until recently she has been sleeping from around 8 until around 7.30 [beckle presents face for slapping...]

Melly, K is ever so cute! That dimple on her cheek is adorable!

Clairey, in response to your question (about a month ago) I did get a Wheelybug for DD, I found it on a website called www.babycurls.co.uk for £44 including P&P, also got a grobag on there for £23 and a buggysnuggle too! Not a bad site!

BT, sorry to hear you are having such a tough time at the moment, perhaps you could speak to your HV again? You said it helped before? I know when I was feeling really down, just talking to a 'professional' and hearing that what I was feeling was normal helped me loads and a couple of sessions with a link worker steered me back onto the straight(ish) path and kept me away from the ADs.

Hope everyone else is okay!

Oh, and on the subject of ITNG, I saw the episode with the Wottingers and got all excited too! Evie loves watching the Ninky Nonk drive around but not interested in the rest at all! And Makka Pakka definitely has a problem, all that arranging stones into 3s? Classic OCD! Mind you, my link worker said there is nothing wrong with a bit of OCD as long as you don't let it take over (although I suspect MP has) - who wants to be normal anyway!

And on that note I'll leave you to go catch some zzzzzzzzzz

Wizzska · 01/12/2008 10:18

Bouncing - I think that's why the pontipines have decided it's best to sleep in separate beds now in the same room as their children. I think that's the best contraception. They're terrible parents anyway, always losing their children. And what's with Iggle Piggle always falling over? Could it be an inner ear problem, or something worse? I do worry - he should see his GP.

Beckle - another snotmonster over here I'm afraid, and he has a terrible cough. Poor little thing. He's teething in a big way too - I think its his second two bottom teeth. Lots of dribble and not much sleep.

Wizzska · 01/12/2008 11:03

Funny to think that this time last year my waters had gone and I was waiting for contractions to start. Oh goodness I'm glad I'm not going through all that. I still want another though .
