Hi Ladybee! I think you should continue the elbowing, it's nice to see you here. Your sentence "I think he was pissing himself off with his own restlessness" is my quote of the day!
Might try swaddling tonight - R kept waking up, crying just for reassurance. As soon as you had your hand on his back or made a pat or two, he'd go back to sleep.

SalLikesEggnogUnderMistletoe · 05/12/2008 11:52

Whoooo hooooo, I got the job

NoPresentsInVictorianSqualor · 05/12/2008 12:30

Yay! Anyone else want a job?
I suggest you go now, this is the lucky employment thread

Had a FAB meeting, just got home, waiting for the next one, BRILLIANT training!

scorpio1 · 05/12/2008 12:31

Well done everybody!

I am too lazy but i have gone back to uni

LittleRascal · 05/12/2008 12:31

well done sal. woooo hooo!
thanks for the tips. didnt even think abt mozzie spray so thanks!

re nappy changing- i twisted a hook into the sealing and attached a hanger from a piece of string- (you know thaose hangers that are round with pegs on them. I then attach small toys or photos or pictures of babies from the magazine. He keeps enthralled!
else i change him on the floor with him inbetween my legs so its harder for him to roll away. also use pulls ups to make the process easier.

TheShipsCat · 05/12/2008 13:09

Congratulations Sal! That's great. When do you start?

And good news VS - glad your day is turning out to be manageable...

There's nothing lazy about going back to uni, scorpio!

I've been trying to work with two poorly dds here...thank god for cbeebies...

TheShipsCat · 05/12/2008 13:10

Little rascal - was it you that did messy play recently? And hanging pictures up - you are so good at this! Puts me to shame Did you work in childcare before?

LittleRascal · 05/12/2008 13:47

thanks TSC. I work with the little ones in rl- Im an occupational therapist.

scorpio1 · 05/12/2008 13:56

DH is fighting on Sunday. Eek. am not too worried though.

TheShipsCat · 05/12/2008 15:48

Littlerascal - that makes sense!

Scorpio - good luck for DH! Does he get hurt much? (I don't know anything about it)

SalLikesEggnogUnderMistletoe · 05/12/2008 16:25

Thanks everybody. Scorpio, I'm way too lazy to return to uni properly - work is easy compared, when the office closes, you go home, no late-night studying required!

Oh, I'm starting on Thursday (but have Christmas week off as we're going away then).

Littlerascal, that sounds great. I've taken one of his bath toys (an annoying little duck that quacks when it makes contact with water) and that is now his nappy-changing-toy (with constant contact with wipes to ensure it's quacking ) - nothing as intelligent as yours, might give that a try (once I stop being lazy).

LilMatchGirlInVictorianSqualor · 05/12/2008 17:13

Ah, Little Rascal, you may be bugged a plenty then. Four of us have children with some form of SN so have to deal with OT's.

SalLikesEggnogUnderMistletoe · 05/12/2008 17:17

What's with the name change? It's nice, but i liked your old one better! [sulks]

SalLikesEggnogUnderMistletoe · 05/12/2008 17:18

was supposed to follow...

scorpio1 · 05/12/2008 17:54

x 1000000000

Sal - i thought uni was the easy option! Will you be full time?

scorpio1 · 05/12/2008 17:56

No he doesn't get hurt, this one is 'bare' though, just gloves. Normally its shin pads, shoe things etc. He has marks on him sometimes from where the glove of the other person 'grazes' but nothing bad. He normally kicks their ass

PeachyBidsYouNadoligLlawen · 05/12/2008 19:39

uni was easy option way I did it lol!

littlerascal luckily for you OT are one of the only helpful professins we've encountered so far lol and they;'re due again on the 17th too so proactive as well

SalLikesEggnogUnderMistletoe · 05/12/2008 22:01

Scorpio, yes, I'll do a week and a half (starting on Thursday), then off over Christmas week (mainly because person doing handover is on leave then, but suits me as we'll be in France), but then starting properly full time from January.
I kind of look forward to doing the job, but am nervous re clothing... My previous job was a suit kind of place, so I've got loads of suits and office shirts etc, however, this place is young and modern, so I think I'd be the only person in a suit, so don't really want to be the odd one out. My problem is that I've got no idea whatsoever as to what modern/whatever it's called office wear would be! A friend suggested using a personal shopper at Selfridges (however, I'd probably use Debenhams, or else I'd only be able to buy one shoe!), and I'm really tempted to do that. Have never used one, but I've heard that as long as you tell them your budged beforehand, it sometimes works out cheaper long term that buying random things, and they're good with recommending colors and cuts that suit you. I wonder how good an idea it is to spend money you haven't yet earned. (The accountant in me ruining all my fun.)

PeachyBidsYouNadoligLlawen · 06/12/2008 17:44

Ellie here please? Ta

scorpio1 · 06/12/2008 17:47

You cannot as far as i know, top up anymore, you have to do a full BSc in Social Work.

Denny185 · 06/12/2008 19:15

I have spent 5 hours today cleaning the kitchen, eeek, you can guess what sort of state it was in, 2 and a half hours to clean the oven. Still its done for another year

DD1 and DS staying at mums tonight so night of relative P and Q.

PeachyBidsYouNadoligLlawen · 06/12/2008 20:28

Scorpio- apparently a 2 years masters is possible. According to Uni careers anyway, which is what I'd need to look at I think. Irather like Uni so a masters would be fab.

scorpio1 · 06/12/2008 20:34

Ahh yes i forgot you already had your degree . I would like to do a MSc in Sociology.
