CantSleepWontSleep · 25/12/2008 21:11

My mum left the sweetcorn in the microwave and the chestnuts in the oven!

Jas · 25/12/2008 22:42

Happy Christmas Feb Mums

Mine didn't wake up until after 8 (Except dd1 who woke up at 5, opened two presents from her stocking, did the same at 7, and then got up at 8 with me

Wii was a big hit.

DP cooked the dinner and we ate on our laps so we (me) could watch Dr who

DS was seriously lacking in presents but didn't seem to notice. The free lego from the mirror went down very well.

EachPeachPearMum · 25/12/2008 23:15

Hope everyone enjoyed themselves!
DD asked to go to bed at 7, poor thing.....

she was still awake at 9.30- 'I can't get to sleep Mama!' poor thing.
I tried to put on music for her and her CD player is broken and it's not even that old, maybe 12 months or so.

She dropped off about quarter to ten, so who knows what time she'll wake.

DH is on the wii fit again

EachPeachPearMum · 25/12/2008 23:16

And yes- v spooky WoW, but hope your cold is better soon.

Frizbe · 26/12/2008 16:15

lol at you two forgetting your sprouts and stuffing, I nearly forgot the parsnips, luckily remembered to go back into kitchen and turn oven off, that's when I spotted them

we had dd1 wake up at 1.30am so we made her get into our bed and go back to sleep (dh didn't want to argue with her and wake everyone else up) then ss got up at 2am also sent back to bed, we all got up at 6am.....hope they sleep later next year!

Looks like we need to invest in new car transport too.....car passed its mot on last Thur, which we thought was dh had probs driving home from work on Xmas eve, due to a huge grinding noise, so him and my dad investigated yesterday and thank god he/we werent on the mway is all I'll say or we'd be dead......the front suspension spring drivers side is out of its housing and is digging into the front wheel imagine that at 70mph...... so we shall take to garage and get fixed monday, then I think its time to investigate loans (not a good time for that I know) and swap our vehicle for a newer model (the crabby van I brought down to CSWS's has also packed up, so if we can get that going we may be able to part chop both for one newer thing?

Hope your all having fabby boxing days anyway the girls are doing art in the kitchen, whilst ss and dh are on the xbox guess I'd better go and formulate some sort of tea?

EachPeachPearMum · 26/12/2008 21:10

Friz- thank goodness you weren't going anywhere far or fast

Phoenix- 5am? Just to do your hair???? you are mad!
(FWIW I went to my hosp appt christmas eve, and realised on the way out of the hosp that I hadn't actually brushed my hair at all that day!)

I made a huge lamb tagine today which we had for lunch, and put 2 portions in the freezer- yummy.

My brother was supposed to be coming up from Cambridge tomorrow... but the roads are freezing over already, so I think he may give it a miss and come next weekend- I will be too scared for him driving, and he hasn't been driving all that long really to come all that way in icy conditions.

MIL's house for dinner this afternoon, and visit from BIL& wife. DD got some fabulous duplo, and a hideous bear which DH and I have agreed needs to be lost at the earliest opportunity- are we just horrible people maybe?

Jas · 26/12/2008 21:21

Or maybe you just have good taste?!

I often go 4 or 5 days without brushing my hair....

We are driving to the South coast tomorrow (to see mil/bil/sil et al) Mostly motorway so I hope it will be ok.

Frizbe. I hope you can get a deal on some new transport.

DS is still up. I've given up even trying to get them all to bed at the moment.

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/12/2008 21:30

For some reason I thought that Jas had written EPPM's post, and couldn't understand why a veggie would make lamb tagine, why her brother was travelling from Cambridge when he lives in France (and why he was travelling 'up' rather than down), and why she had a hospital appointment.

Dd in overtired meltdown by bedtime tonight - was not pretty!

My cousin and his family visiting tomorrow.

for car Friz. Will you be contacting the garage that gave it the ok at MOT?

Phoenix · 26/12/2008 21:45

EPPM - Ds had been up at 6-6.30 for a few days so thought i'd give myself an hour to get a bath and get ready before he got up.

I have to wash my hair everyday it's so greasy. If i wash it on a night before bed i would have to re-wash it in the morning because it would be greasy so there's no way i could go days without brushing it.

I've just taken the christmas decs down.

OP posts:
EachPeachPearMum · 26/12/2008 22:24

CSWS- I think technically it's across from Camb, but hey....

Phoenix- that is naff having to do it every day, I would hate it. Mine has gone so lovely with pg... that I can go 5 days or so between washes! I know it will all fall out when he's about 3mo though. I wash mine in the evening so that by morning it has had a little flattening saves on blow-drying and I never use 'product' on it.

DH's niece was trying to persuade him to use something on his curls this evening, to tame them a little... he was having none of it . He, btw, never brushes his hair- after washing he just leaves it- it really isn't worth the bother- brushing makes it stand about 6 inches off his head! It is way to curly, though I suppose he could get an afro comb.

Frizbe · 27/12/2008 09:53

MMM lamb tangine I wouldn't worry about the hair thing either, although mine does need a daily brush, or its knot central. Lug faries ahoy!

Phoenix, its not even NY yet at your decs coming down!

Jas, have a lovely trip.

CSWS {{{{Hugs}}}} for the over tired meltdown, those are never fun, yes I will be going to the garage on Monday am, along with dh (shop can open late, we're off for a joint rant) not happy at all, step dad has also inspected it when he picked up ss this am, and reckons we should rant, lots.....there is no way it should have passed mot with the spring now being where it is......have also been looking at vosa and trading standards, but am going to garage 1st, as we do know the guys, have used for years etc, are both businesses in the same town......if they don't give satisfactory result, then trading standards and police will be brought in apparently things like this can also happen if wheels are not put back on properly.....could be someone in an xmas rush??? will give them chance to investigate and put right before really going off the deep end.

EachPeachPearMum · 27/12/2008 12:54

FRiz- doesn't sound good about car- but my friend had this once- they put the wheel on too loosely after MOT
V scary, but they sorted everything very quickly, and I think they halved the cost of his service. See what they say- they'll probably be mortified.

Phoenix- missed your last sentence- You've taken down the decs? Even the tree?

Frizbe · 27/12/2008 16:30

EPPM I have a feeling that this is what has happened and double as they're friggin shut until 5th of Jan!!!! Sob, sob, sob, I'm stuck in frickin small town Derbyshire....I don't do stuck very well, grump. I've already dragged the kids round the few shops that were open this morning, poor mites, although dd1 has done ok out of the trip into Boots, she has half price tights and new top and trousers! and I got two half price birthday prezzies for Feb too Plus a new duvet (boy did we need one) but alas no pillows (one for WOW) as they were too pricey still. So that's the child benifit for the month spent and I felt remotely better for 10 seconds. Bet your all wishing I'd not got back online eh! cripes what a mamouth whinge!

Which reminds me....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PHOENIX

Phoenix · 27/12/2008 18:49

Yes tree is down too EPPM. I normally take them down before new year anyway as i just don't see the point once christmas is done. Dh was at work last night and i was bored so took them down. I needed somewhere to put ds' presents too. They're all still in the living room, including the bloody drum set, til i sort his bedroom out and find some room up there for stuff

Hope you get the car sorted Friz. You were lucky. Thanks for the birthday wish

EachPeachPearMum · 27/12/2008 19:46

Happy Birthday! (is today?)

Phoenix · 27/12/2008 19:55

Thanks, yes today . And i'm all alone, ds is in bed and dh at work.

Frizbe · 27/12/2008 20:16

Then crack open a glass of schloer and surf mumsnet with me! dh is playing fables 2, the kids are talking to each other through the bedroom walls (so much for being tired and going to sleep) and I'm consuming a bottle of red (hic)

Flamespar · 27/12/2008 20:16

Ello

Am back from hell Wales.

Sulking that WOW wouldn't want to go on holiday with me cos sport wouldn't happen. I think you should do the course though.

Argh for Friz's car.

Phoenix - for tree down. We still have a christmas and a meal to go, and that doesn't include xmas at Psycho's which is now happening after new year.

Dude got his Woody today from mum - the excitement was soooooo nice! A small boy bouncing round at the sight of a small toy cowboy B has enough HSM clothing to wear it every day of the week (and bedtime), and probably have some left over Disney have made a mint from my family this year.

Oh and dude has worms. Lovely. Nits I am used to, but little wriggly arse things less so.

I am now down to 2 threads I have posted on, and haven't missed MN in the slightest (apart from you lot who I miss even though I am awol most of the time ).

Frizbe · 27/12/2008 20:30

hello back from Wales lady!

for wiggly worms though, take it you've all taken the anti powdery stuff.....we got a letter at the end of term advising us all to be vigilant over the hols against worms and nits (yes, madam head teacher, I'll be a good mummy.....)

Yay for great prezzies and for WOW not wanting to go party??? Wots that all about then WOW??? surely holiday = party and no/less sport?? even my pilates teacher (who is a sporting nutter) put on 8lbs on her hols (and boy did we suffer for it)

WellOiledWench · 28/12/2008 10:27

Course id go on hol with you flame, but id make you exercise

we are gonna party. then sllep al morning, exercise all afyernoon . Gym every other day, hotel room aerbics every day, and a bit of running when ot too hot. The accomodation is booked ] so its real!!! Booking flights tomo cos ther was a prob on hte website. Her Dad is gonne do it by phone in the morn. OMG!!!!

Still feel rely shit; never had such a bad cold. House is crumbling around me as dh cant cope with kids and do tidying up. It fills me with drad about coming back aftewr hol actually

Frizbe · 28/12/2008 10:56

WOW I've been taking Echinecha for my stinking cold (the one thats been hanging on since begining of Nov) for the last 5 days now, and its made one hell of a difference (that and the metatone tonic I'm also swigging) Try and get hold of some.

Oh what to do today then....might have a bath in a mo, then bundle all the little ones thru too, guess I should walk into town and take dh lunch? then more art and craft stuff I guess? anyone doing anything exciting today?

Flamespar · 28/12/2008 13:27

Sounds like a good holiday if it weren't for all that exercise . I swim when on holiday., just that.

I am surrounded by un-putaway presents and it is starting to annoy me.

for your colds.

Off to my dad's in a bit to do xmas with them. He sent me a text to say that the children have nits, but then got all hysterical with me because I replied saying about worms!!! yes, we have all been treated (deep joy). I know it isn't as "nice" to say you have the wrigglers, but it is the same amount of treatment etc .

Right. Leaving now. May be drinking when I get back!

EachPeachPearMum · 28/12/2008 15:16

Ughhh worms... I can still taste the pripsen I had to have when my little sister got them... that was only about 25 years ago
I think they have better treatments now though?

WoW- Yay for holiday! Glad to see it's becoming a reality

DH back at work tomorrow, so we're having a nice lazy day- lots of playing, and just had roast beef lunch, yummy. Have made a trifle for later.... can't wait for it to be ready- keep having to go and 'check' if its set I LOVE trifle. Made one last year, and discovered I'd forgotten the cream... so it wasn't v good. This one will be fabulous! (alcohol free though, of course)

Frizbe · 28/12/2008 16:39

I think worms are easier to treat than nits, one dose gets rid, where as chuffing nits keep on coming back for weeks!

EPPM, mmmm trifle, sounds lovely

Well we got rescued for a bit by the grandparents, who took dd2 and I to lunch I didn't take dd1, as she had a 3/4 hour meltdown at me, regarding wanting to wear one set of clothes, then not wanting to wear them, then not wanting to clean teeth, have hair done or generally anything. So I took her to the shop and left her with her dad, as I was not rewarding bad behaviour with a nice lunch out and treats. She is now very sorry and is being extra good for me. (and dd2 enjoyed having me to herself for a bit too)

Have made Chilli for tea and some for the freezer too

Jas · 28/12/2008 18:20

Worms. THB the thought makes me shudder in a way that nits doesn't. Thankfully I've never had to deal with that one (yet).

I think I will take our decs down tomorrow, too. I'm gathering up a pile of stuff that needs to go int the loft, so may as well put everything up while I am up there.

Very boring day today (dd1 would play on the wii all day if I let her), but had a very nice relaxed day with mil yesterday

We are taking the dds out tomorrow to spend all their Christmas money and savings. They are getting a ds each (then I can play on the wii all day)
