Turtle, just to add that apart from bullying you, your DH probably feels out of control of the situation now and is trying this as a way to get him back in control the way things used to be. He seems to be forgetting (again) that he willingly opted into changing the status quo around 18 months ago....

turtledove23 · 17/12/2008 06:51

Thanks all. Thought I wasn't the only one not at it 24/7.
this has brightened my day considerably. Also, have posted one of my DH on FB if you want a real giggle!

wearehipsandmakers · 17/12/2008 08:13

Oh yes ladies, enjoy the nooners now 'cos when DC stop having a nap they stop as well!!
Am feeling chipper as DS's teeth extraction has been postponed till after Christmas as he had a bit of a bug on Monday and apparently they tend to err on the side of caution and postpone if he's had a temperature.

HolidaysQueen · 17/12/2008 09:13

turtle - my DH sent me a link to him and DS as elves from that website. It is so funny

merryberry · 17/12/2008 10:09

we manage once or thwice a week, with cleaners to help me and dh helping out all over the shop. but its quality, not quantity tell him as you hand him the hoover and a mop and bucket. get him working and worrying

merryberry · 18/12/2008 13:53

worries that tmi has sent everyone into hiding

ilovegreenbeans · 18/12/2008 14:07

or maybe all this talk about sex has spurned some into action!

merryberry · 18/12/2008 14:21

lol: then stop shagging and xmas pressie wrapping and kid parties attending and get back to your MN duty! TUT! REALLY!

-gg has tooth number 3 through at last.
-house is a bombsite. learnt: do not make cheese straws at 0745am. you will not clear up properly all day.
-children's parties. Gah. enough already
xmas trees and the kids faces. lovely

  • unplanned 3k on our tax bill. oh just fnck off already hmcr, leave us alone. there goes any hope of my march kitchen being built.
  • both boys have conjunctovitis, its hard to get drops in their eyes and keep their hands clean
  • eating cheese straws for breakfast makes you feel dirty and used all day long
turtledove23 · 18/12/2008 16:58

I've decided to just lurk for a bit. (lurk lurk lurk)

merryberry · 18/12/2008 18:18

JFly · 18/12/2008 19:01

MB, it's taken me this long to get over "once or thrice a week".

Oddly enough, since having G, I think my libido finally matches DH's. Meaning mine has dropped off.

Yeah, so, I can't really relate to DHs demanding sex. Never happens in the Fly household, I'm afraid.

Can I just quickly rant about KLM? We normally fly BA to the States, but this time we don't have enough miles and tickets are expensive so we're flying KLM. I've been trying to request a baby cot for the last 6 weeks and today they said the request is still pending. We fly on Sunday. Grrrrrrrr. And they are so very Dutch about the whole thing; they miss out the subtleties of customer service entirely. There's no "I'm sorry, Madam", it's just "no, I won't/can't do that." I really wish we could teleport.

merryberry · 18/12/2008 19:33

once or twice. dang typos. sorry about the sky cot worries.

fitnfestiveone · 18/12/2008 20:31

Lol at you rampant hussies. I just feel my age!
Very narked tonight after ensuring LO had his virus last weekend and was free of infection for requisite 48 hours, dashed to swimming tonight to find they'd cancelled it, but only when I'd walked thru the school to find the lights weren't on at the pool. None of the cleaning staff or whoever hanging around the place seemed to think it odd or worth mentioning to the strange biddy with a babe in arms that there wasn't anything on tonight! Got the voicemail about the cancellation on home phone and twigged they must have misplaced my mobile number again. But no more swimming lessons now until 8th Jan which means I have to go at the weekend to keep him up to date since we missed last week an' all.

Cards are mostly written, pressies have to be wrapped tonight for delivery via MIL tomorrow. She's come down with another bug today, don't really want LO staying with her tomorrow but no option as we can't get the time off. Besides, he'll have picked up the germs today if he's going to, would just have been nice to spend xmas relatively germ/d&v free .

Told today we're having a bring-your-own buffet lunch on Monday as we don't have a canteen any more to provide xmas lunch in work. Any ideas for buffet things costing max £2 and veggie (since everyone else will do the carnivorous stuff)?

merryberry · 18/12/2008 22:15

home made corn fritters and tomato salsa. verty cheap and moreish but lots of work, frying them all off.

WeWishEWEaMerryXmas · 18/12/2008 23:01

God I am knackered due to lots of work socialising this week, tomorrow night is my Xmas party and then I am done until 5th Jan. Hoo bloody rah!

Going to church for the first time since I had DD Christened on Sunday for a Carol Service which should be really nice. Am almost all prepared for the Christmas, just got to get some pics of DD printed off so that I can get them printed off for frames/albums etc.

We've been v.quiet on here of late. Anyone up for maybe trying to sort a real life meet up in Jan when things are less hectic?

monthlymayhem · 19/12/2008 00:05

just been out for a huuuuuuge curry and it was lovely Now feeling quite piggy

One night down of my three night's in a row socialising 'marathon' . Parents were watching LO and predictably he just so happened to have wakened before we got home and was getting cuddles from granny on the sofa at 11pm Can just imagine my mum stomping round the house as noisily as possible in the hope of waking him up just so she can get an extra cuddle....

ilovegreenbeans · 19/12/2008 09:43

JFly- get there really early and ask then. Air Canada don't even guarantee them until check-in. It depends who gets the bulkhead seats I think. (Although, it was completely over-rated, dd slept for about 30 min in it the whole flight)
Teleporting sounds like a great idea though!

littleducks · 19/12/2008 10:51

Its all a bit miserable here, got a puncture in the pram yesterday, which i didnt make it to soft play (the social highlight of my life atm) and now will have to do shopping today with single buggy as no sensible online delivery slots available, have guestys tomorrow and sunday and basically cant be arsed

dh is being a grumpy sod and i would rather he stayed at work, which doesnt bode well for a happy atmospehere and the dishwasher doesnt seem it be washing well so i will have to fiddle with that later

ok rant over

Ewe a jan meet up would be good (though perhaps not starbucks after the infamous lurgy!)

ds suddenly seems to be actually eating stuff judging on his naps, am now going to try and get down to three bfs a day, as it is way more and very erratic atm

FfreckleFfairyOnTopOfTheTree · 19/12/2008 12:14

Turtle, it sounds like he is being a bit of an arse. We've had similar discussions - Bloke has absolutely refused to get up in the night because he has to work in the morning. (And he uses working with explosives as a ridiculous excuse as to why he needs to be wide awake and undisturbed...the same doesn't apply when he wants to go out on the beer.)Your situation is worse obviously, as our night time wakings are mercifully few and very far between. But we have had many arguments discussions that have involved me screaming about how useless he is calmly asking him if he could do more.

We're managing it a couple of times a week, but I have always been a bit horny , and am not really sleep deprived. It was a different story when I was still waking up to feed her at night.

Feeling like a very bad mummy today. In the space of four days last week, little Ff started crawling properly, drinking without help from a beaker, and pulling up to standing, so I have been struggling to keep up with her new found skills. Put her on the changing mat on our bed for 2 seconds while I turned around to grab a nappy from the side yesterday...THUD...she'd crawled off the bed. She is clearly the Chuck Norris of the baby world though, as after a bit of an outraged shriek she seemed pleased to be on the floor and was crawling off before I picked her up. Still feel awful though.

I would love to come to a Jan meet up - getting into London takes me about an hour.

Went to Christmas lunch with my old colleagues yesterday, and Ff tasted ice cream for the first time...very popular indeed!

Is everyone getting into the swing of Christmas? Starting to feel quite festive here. Littleducks, I hope your day improves.

merryberry · 19/12/2008 12:40

can i suggest my north london place for the meet up? obviously very child friendly (well as much as i can make it!) BUT we are 15 mins walk from either caledonian (picadilly) or tufnell park or kentish town (northern) tubes. there are buses from king's cross that get here fast and drop 5 mins walk away. it's a 10-15 quid ride in a cab from trafalgar square, depending on traffic levels.

so there's that for discussion. we could do a pot luck lunch, everyone bring a plate of sarnies/cake. and take your time once here? any day except tuesday, when the cleaners heroically try to restore order.

MarchNowFebMum · 19/12/2008 22:40

Hello from California! Just dropping in to say hi and Merry Christmas. We are here for a month to soak up sun and family attention. LO in her glory - and has sprouted half a tooth (just a peek through) and first steps (second chuck norris here) in all the excitement.

Sky Cot v overrated - LO wanted nothing to do with it this trip. Uses it as a balcony from which to shout at other passengers!

Am def game for meet up with Fri afternoon as exception. See you in 2009!

OP posts:
merryberry · 20/12/2008 14:21

lol at stage for shouting
happy sunny xmas to you too!

turtledove23 · 20/12/2008 15:10

Could I have honest opinions please on this?

JFly · 20/12/2008 17:00

I think you'd be better off with something that includes your name, or isn't as specific as "doula". Something broader allows for you to feature more skills/services (such as your hypno), so that you're not "just" a doula.

Re "Surrey" - if you move from there, then you'd have the confusion of finding a new domain, etc.

So, www.Turtledove23.com (you know what I mean) might be a bit better. Or, if you don't want your name, then something "branded" like: www.pleasedomylaundryandbringmeacupoftea.com
or www.breathinbreathoutstopcrushingmyhand.com
