Thanks for your nice messages ladies. Have had a good day here with a happy mummy and baby!

Neenz re: bathtime twin logistics, gosh that's not something I had thought about. I find getting one lo dressed without a meltdown tricky. New trick: put vest over head whilst doing tummy time and he doesn't notice!

PP my DH is really amazing, I could not be luckier, but... I do all the getting up in the night, I had put it down to him being a very heavy sleeper, but generally P is after milk anyway, and you can't deny biology.

SA glad work was good today. It's nice to read a positive experience. If I decide to go back it will help me to remember this.

Sorry I missed E on the web cam on his 5 month birthday. I got the date wrong and did the videoing yesterday: doh!

poppy34 · 17/11/2008 17:20

PP militant poppy generally agrees wtih you re equality -although would say that my dh is very good indeed (maybe cos its his third?) and does hear/do all the nasty bits etc...but do know he is not normal in this regard ...

watching baby einstein santa AGAIN .. tell me this is just the start of obsessive viewing isn't it?

bitofadramaqueen · 17/11/2008 17:28

Evening all. Just really marking where I'm up to.

Poppy I think you should change your name to militantpoppy

Sainsbury's emailed me back btw about nature babycare nappies - I got a 1000 nectar points for my trouble. On the nappy front, had a nightmare in London. S is normally in cloth but obviously not too convenient on a trip to London with everything but the kitchen sink in tow. Decided to buy disposables when we got there. I must have been to every boots in central london and not one of them had nature babycare nappies in stock. It's a conspiracy!

S has been watch cbeebies today. I really want to get him some baby einstein dvd's, but he's getting so much for christmas I daren't buy him anything else just now.

spongebrainbigpants · 17/11/2008 19:35

Hi guys, sorry haven't been around - life's been a bit manic and I'm completely knackered .

PP, really sorry to hear about your mum - that must be so hard on you .

Neenz, I'm still waiting to wean but I'm with alipalli on feeling like I'm martyring myself to this whole bloody weaning thing and feel like I'm just wading through a fog of tiredness at the moment. But then I know so many others who've weaned and hasn't made any difference to sleep. However, I am wondering what will make him sleep through again if weaning doesn't?!

Hi to everyone else, too tired to take anything else in .

Hi all-
24 hours in to single parenting. Stevie (DH) away in trial in Cardiff until Thursday. Not only am I miserable without him, I managed to shut my finger in the door, fall over and graze both knees bringing the bins back in and let the dog escape which in volved me chasing her up the road for twenty minutes screaming her name and desperately offering her a snickers. All before twelve o'clock. Thankfully things have gone a little better since then....

Apologies fr the rant.Re: equality in the Pearl house. There isn't any: we are full-on 1950's stereotypes. DH brings home the bacon and I cook it.

PP- am so sorry about your mum. I can't even imagine the pain it must cause you, but how lucky that Ryder has something of her in him. She's not permanently lost to you.

Sponge- feel your pain and send hugs.

Sure there was more but better eat before I fall over from lack of food. Hello all xxx

poppy34 · 17/11/2008 19:51

poor puree - hope there was some snickers left for you to cheer yourself up with

debinaustria · 17/11/2008 20:12

sorry but I need to moan - just had a credit crunch cancellation, Feb half term and big apartment so it's a big booking.

Thanks for the comments on Ethan on webcam.

Alli - lol at videoing yesterday.

Puree - hope you had a better afternoon

PP - sorry to hear about your Mum, it must be very distressing, but like Puree said, how nice to have a little of your Mum in Ryder.

Feeling bogged down by everything today, and been a miserable cow to all around me.

pleasechange · 17/11/2008 20:48

deb sorry to hear that, what a bummer. Sounds like you need a snickers too. Loved the webcam

puree hope you have now had something to eat and a sit down!

PP sorry to hear about you mum - can only imagine how difficult that must be

sponge hi again - I can empathise with the sleep problems!

I've only just had a quick skim as I was away all weekend. On the sleep front we have a small bit of progress - A's first sleep in the night is now about 3 hours, followed by hourly wakeups from 2am. I have got strangely used to the lack of sleep but feel like a zombie in the mornings

A has got his 3rd set of injections tomorrow - not looking forward to that. And I have had my first period while bf

On the equality front - I used to think men and women could do things equally as far as DC were concerned. Now though I do find that I am always first to hear DS stir/wake/cry and am first to go to him

poppy34 · 17/11/2008 20:55

deb want militantpoppy to go round adn visit your cancellees along with militant pp ?

allnew good luck with jabs and sympathies on period front.

Someone told me that apparently woman hear babies cry at about 8 times lounder volume...sounds like an excuse by a guilty father doing research to me

debinaustria · 17/11/2008 21:28

yes please, militantpoppy to the rescue!!!!
Another problem is that they are regular guests and they drive over so they always bring me goodies from the UK, in fact last time I did a Tesco order and they brought that with them!!Good job I can get Snickers here.

pleasechange · 17/11/2008 21:38

poppy just read the w*king thread you posted on - OMG!

poppy34 · 17/11/2008 21:42

I was torn on that one between feeling sorry for OP and thinking wtf?

am off latest thread I misguidedly posted on (I should know was on weaning and some soon to drop mum asking for help)... and as per usual WW3 breaking out -and you can bet your life its someone pontificating who doesn't actually have babies to feed/wean at present

you know what militant poppy might be back...when she has finished on the other threads, she'll go sort out deb's guests

pleasechange · 17/11/2008 21:46

I'm sticking to the easier threads like Strictly Come Dancing!

poppy34 · 17/11/2008 21:48

good idea - I think my pms/period starting has made me unusually pugnacious . 5gomad is not around so not so many on the archers thread

was pleased re cherie goign out -she was a bit too smug/complacent imo

EllieG · 17/11/2008 22:42

Sorry for hijack - hey neenz! Saw you on other thread! How are you and those beautiful beautiful babes of yours? Had a peek at your pics and they are sooo lovely!

bitofadramaqueen · 17/11/2008 23:10

Deb that's rubbish. Have you realised that they wont be able to bring you creme eggs

P&P hope things get better. I grazed my knees last year (while running for the bus, very undignified) and it bloody hurt!

Sponge hope you get some sleep soon. I'm also holding back on the weaning, but thankfully S still hasn't shown signs of wanting a feed at night; don't know how my resolve will hold up if he does

Still gloopy green poo here. And the nappy rash seems to have worsened after a period of getting better

debinaustria · 17/11/2008 23:20

OMG BDQ - just when I thought my day could get no worse, I'd forgotten about the creme eggs!!

spongebrainbigpants · 18/11/2008 08:10

Morning guys, well another two night feeds (1.30am and 4.45am) but this time we gave him water (which he glugged - 5ozs and 4ozs) so this morning he was actually hungry and has just necked the whole bottle. Hopefully he will continue to eat more today and then sleep tonight - at least that's the theory!

poppy, which threads have you been posting on - I'm intrigued!

deb, sorry to hear about the booking . The news on the recession over here is relentless, it's so depressing.

BDQ, fingers crossed - none of my RL babies have regressed as badly as Alex on the night feeds so you may be lucky!

OP posts:
poppy34 · 18/11/2008 08:44

bdq sorry things aren't getting better - it does sound like its a virus or something? did you see doctor or was it just health visitor?

sponge I've been spreading my wrath in some aibu about childcare and rather less wisely in weaning (yes I should know better but it started out ok)..

and re recession, heard someone on radio saying quite rightly that media making it worse... it really is quite depressing.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 18/11/2008 09:01

Sorry about that Deb

bitofadramaqueen · 18/11/2008 09:48

Morning all.

Sorry to make your day worse deb.

It was the HV I saw poppy, but one of the friends I saw at the weekend is a newly qualified paeds doc and she also thought it sounded like a virus. HV says it can take a while to run its course in babies, and as long as he's drinking fluids should be ok.

poppy - I'm a huge believer that the economic situation is in part down to the media. The coverage over northern rock was appalling and was a huge factor in what happened there. Not to say that the economic downturn wouldn't have happened but the 24/7 coverage breeds fear which really impacts economy. Rant of the day over

Sponge I'm so over all of the media coverage about the recession. What do all these bloody 'economic analysts' do for a job the rest of the time

News of the day - as well as the green gloopy poo, S now has a runny nose. It has just taken me best part of an hour to settle him for a nap. He's really blocked up. Any tips/suggestions?

Neenztwinz · 18/11/2008 10:10

Drama, me and DH are always laughing when the BBC economics editor comes on - can't remember his name, but he is on ALL the time now with the downturn! I hope is on good overtime rates .

Deb that really sucks, it is horrid being in an industry that suffers in a downturn, very worrying. I can rest easy cos there is always a rise in criminal activity in a recession so DH keeps busy . But they are shedding lots of jobs where I work - newspapers/mags sales also suffer in downturn. I am hoping that will be good for me tho cos hopefully they'll agree to me coming back one day a week cos it is cheaper for them.

Sponge, that sounds really encouraging with the water... does that mean that he is not waking out of hunger? If it is not hunger then weaning wouldn't help.
Maybe it's just habit. I really hope he sleeps better tonight after taking more milk this morn (and hopefully for rest of day).

Re sharing childcare LOL at 'only at weekends when he is home' . Yeah it really naffs me off that I have to do EVERYTHING when DH is at work . When he is at home he is happy to change nappies etc (I do one, he does the other usually) and fun stuff like playing with them while I get on with other things (that's a godsend actually). He has even made them breakfast and fed them so he is good. The key is showing him how to do stuff eg make their food, it is easier just to do it myself but in the long term it helps if he can do it without me needing to show him.

Weaning is going so much better for us now. I am mixing everything with loads of milk and baby rice. They even had cod again the other day. Going to try cannelini beans today cos Esther is still waking for a feed at 10pm and 5.30am (Theo is sleeping from 8-8). She doesn;t eat as well as him so got to try to get something substantial down her! Unless her waking is habit too .

I have found these great fruit things called Nature's Finest. They are fruit pieces (peach, papaya) in juice with no added anything (only antioxidant which I assume is fine ). I use them for breakfasts, get two days' worth of breakfast out of them (for both babs). I was shocked to find peaches (not even organic) were £2.99 for four in Tesco . These nature's finest were about £1.20 a tub. They were in the tinned fruit aisle. I should get commission!

Neenztwinz · 18/11/2008 10:12

Hi Ellie! We are great - the twins are adorable and a pleasure to look after. Great to hear from you. How life has changed in the last 18 months eh?

debinaustria · 18/11/2008 11:24

I have a clingy baby today -he's full of a cold, I keep putting him in the sun to make him sneeze and get rid of some snot!!!There's a tip for you bdq!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone

debinaustria · 18/11/2008 11:26

Neenz - just seen your tandem feeding photo - very impressed.
