Smudge I;m so sorry about your uncle sending you big hugs. Also, don't beat yourself up about weanng early am at your friend for having a go at you, it's your choice and he is obviously flourishing. Anyway, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, it's not as if you can undo it all now is it! As for FF him, so what, I FF DS1 from about 10 days, BF was horrendous, and he was having top ups of FF in the hospital anyway as he wouldn't latch on and was convulsing as he hadn't taken any milk. And I FF Sam from 8 weeks as DS1 took up so much time and was getting naughty while I was feeding I felt as if I had no choice really. It is what suits you at the end.... Please don't feel bad, motherhood is all about feeling guilty, at least on here we can all feel guilty together!!!!!

Isaidno That book sounds really interesting, am going to get it I think.

Sam had jabs today. Forgot he had to have three, poor thing! He's very grumpy now, just put him up for nap.

Favourite things about Sam

The way he looks at his big brother, in absolute awe, and he giggles madly whenever he comes near him.

The way he smiles at me first thing in the morning - just melts my heart every day!

The way he is so easy to settle at night, I can feed him, burp him, change his nappy, he goes down seemingly wide awake, and we don't hear another thing until morning. (nap time's a different kettle of fish altogether)

The way he frowns when he touches my face, like - oh look what we have here! (a nose!)

There are way too many, but those are a few!

SK I had that issue too, DS1 would eat anything - except anything that had taken me ages to prepare!!! I do still cook some stuff from AK's book though, her burgers are lovely and so are her cookies!!

The one thing I am Dreading (with a capital D) is the fact that Sam will be 26 weeks on 2nd Jan, while we are on holiday with MIL, PIL, BIL and SIL, and if I haven't weaned him already I can imagine all the 'he's still just on milk!' kinda comments! I', n two minds weather to start weaning him just before xmas, but then I don't want to have to take all the gubbins with me on holday... Worse timing ever!!!! Any advice?

JODIEhadababy · 07/11/2008 15:19

Oh sorry Tjuice am for baby Elodie, and for you.... sending you big hugs too..

TJuice · 07/11/2008 15:45

thanks for all your support, people. its great to have an outlet here. i am all stiff upper lip with everyone else (parents and dh).

we are both sad but have now confirmed with the doctor to doctor second opinion that its the right move. she's fine though. really healthy, in fact.

mama2leah - good luck with your results. basically one of elodie's kidneys does not work well at all and leaving it there puts her at risk for infections, which could compromise the other one. are you on facebook mumsnet group?

mama2leah · 07/11/2008 16:03

no not on facebook, am tinkin of joining tho! tjuice, i tnk this may th eproblem with leah, have u started to express milk? etc? ive got appt on monday, more tests and then meetin on 25th to decide...

its so strange they look so healthy and good...

isaidno · 07/11/2008 16:37

here is our facebook group for anyone new (or old!) who hasn't joined.

DonutMum · 07/11/2008 17:27

Welcome Sarahpo, glad you came over.

L had his second set of DTP yesterday and seems just fine, although not v happy at the time.

Been to barbecue at a friends house today and met some people who used to live near us in England. Small world.

DHs birthday tomorrow so suppose better think about having an early night for his birthday present .

Soppy list:
the way he kicks his legs and laughs his head off when I take his clothes off
the way he snuggles my neck
the look on his face when I pick him up
his smell
his little toes and fat tum
just everything, he's my angel...

disneystar · 07/11/2008 18:39

now i know im an older mom as i dont need no book to tell me what to feed my baby or what foods are best
i think i shall write one too stating the obvious and make a packet

disneystar · 07/11/2008 21:30

its just i read on her book that BLW is becoming so popular now and a relativly new conception
thats how i fed my dd shes 22 via blw and using the mesh feeder by the way has anyone tried the mesh feeder as i think they are great and very safe

isaidno · 07/11/2008 21:40

Actually disney she says blw is not new at all! It just has a name now.

sweetkitty · 07/11/2008 22:56

Evening I lurve all the soppy lists, as much as we are all being driven up the wall by various things and feel at the end of our tether we would never be without our small people

Oh embarrassing moment no 347 for SK - so today decided to rectify the fact that I have no photos of my third born daughter up in the house so go to Asda to print some off the DVD I have burnt. Pop it in the machine everything is going fine until the machine crashes so have to call the woman who replaces the paper etc then tries to start the machine, now I am printing out 91 photos which one has it stopped before (the one she needs to start) yes the one of me lying naked on my bed straight after B was born all you can see in the foreground is my right boob big nip and everything, OK I'm not a prude I BF in public but of course then she starts saying "oh hen you look awfly tired" and "och it's just natural" whilst by big nip is flashing up on the screen and I'm looking like a car crash!

isaidno - I stumbled into BMW by default having DD1 who refused to be fed off a spoon, DD2 didn't even bother trying, she has amazing manual dextrity and could feed herself peas at 8 months. I love reading books on differing styles of childcare, I read one once about caring for babies around the world, apparently Eskimos wrap their babies to theeir bodies naked then wrap a board around the baby then furs. Also interesting reading about the nappy issues in countries where there are no Pampers, EC from birth.

disney - a few mums from the Jan 06 thread had the mesh feeder things and got on well with them, I was too lazy I just used to break off little bits of banana (can you see a pattern developing here) lazy mum that I am?

M2L - do join facebook once you have add me as a friend (you will know me double barrelled first name) and I will send you my e-mail.

Donutmum - glad you have found some friends, I bet there is a real sense of community and sticking together??? I know what you mean about your LO being an angel too, with me the other two seem so big and independent and then theres B so ickle and lovely

Tjuice - you keep on venting on here, we will hold your virtual hand through Elodie's op

Jodie - I make Annbel's cookies and fairy cakes too

smudge - so sorry to hear about your uncle

JODIEhadababy · 08/11/2008 16:36

No one about today? It's very quiet. I have a very grumpy baby here after his jabs yesterday. And DH has gone to watch the rugby so left on my own for what seems to be the 1000 day in a row. I'm going stir crazy! Need some me time, can't remember who said it before, but I have always been one for some 'solitude' once ina while, I dodn' even mind going to resteraunt/cinema by myself (Infact I quite relish it) and I've not had any tie bymyself since Sam been born, think it's overdue!!!

Gotta go, Sam crying again.
x

DonutMum · 08/11/2008 16:36

Hey disney, that's a good idea. Maybe we should all contribute to a book called "Motherhood - the blinkin' obvious".

TJuice, sorry about Elodie, poor wee girl.

Re Annabel Karmel, the boys eat the paella. That's it. So now i just give them spaghetti hoops rather than spend ages making chicken balls.

Got Logan a Bumbo and he looks cool so will be taking a pic of him with the remote control and a beer soon to post up.

DH's birthday today and it's been shit for him cos I've been ill - had a terrible fever in the night and couldn't get out of bed this morning. Still feeling rancid.

SK, I suppose there is some sense of community but am pleased to be making a more close friend, which I seem to be. I'm not one for lots of friends or the school run mum at the gate thing - just find it all too awkward, but I'd be like that at home so it's not just here. I do wonder if lots of mumsnet mums are the same, enjoying spending time on the computer - it's more peaceful and less stressful I think.

JODIEhadababy · 08/11/2008 19:30

Gosh, just re read my last post, how rambling and self indulgant I blame it on been extraordinarily tired.

JODIEhadababy · 08/11/2008 19:31

oops pressed post before I should have.

Anyway, Donut, sorry to hear your not well, hope you get better soon, and I must say I;m very at you going to BBQ's! It's horrible here!

sweetkitty · 08/11/2008 21:46

Donutmum - I find it quite difficult having friends with children over, the sheer chaos and mess, my two seem to go into hyper overdrive and are really naughty so as you say once they are in bed quiet time on the computer is bliss

Jodie - don't be embarrassed about your post, I'm the worst for over indulgent posts I just ramble away, quite cathartic at times.

Not much to report here off for a cup of tea now they are all in bed.

pigleychez · 08/11/2008 22:04

Evening all,

Weathers been truly miserable here today so spent the day all cozy inside and not ventured out at all.
Had a nice lie in this morning and resumed relations felt abit with A fast asleep in her basket next to the bed.

Felt pretty achey today and had a headache so hoping its not the start of something.
Couldnt be bothered to cook to had KFC tonight.

Been having a read about the BLW and it sounds quite interesting. Think I give it a go with Abigail when shes ready.

Jodie- Know exactly what you been about some quiet time. Even when DH is home at the weekends I still like some quiet time to myself to come online or something.

disneystar · 08/11/2008 23:10

libralady · 08/11/2008 23:28

Willtry and catch up at some point. A bit upset tonight as we've just had to take my last cat to the vets to be put to sleep tonight. I've had him since he was 13 weeks old and he turned 18 in September.
I am gutted

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 08/11/2008 23:32

hello all

just catching up !

tjuice sorry to hear about Elodies op but sure she is i the best hands

re the weaning thing..its an emotive one

personally and having weaned 5 babies i am prone to thinking that post 4 months is fine.. i will however hold off a bit longer

i am in two minds as my only allergy styled child is ds1 and he has always had a bit of wheat and dairy intolerance

i kept him wheat and dairy free till one - dairy free till 2

SOOO i like to think around 5 months

N is not my hugest baby 14 lbs at 17 weeks and he has started waking for his dream feed at 11 or 12pm

he then goes till 8 or 9 then feeds at 12.30 then 5 then 8...

i will probably introduce the odd bottle of formula soon as i am SHATTERED!

fave things about N

lovely googling eyes
cheeks (pommettes) that are rosy and sometimes need moisturising because they are so taut!
little noises he makes in conversations with me
the fact he smiles so freely and is generous with who he smiles at
his lovely beefing legs and the fact tha when he smiles they draw up
the fact that he is proper baby and has 'fisty' little hands that flop back when he is content!

must catch up with you all more often

isaidno · 09/11/2008 16:58

Hello Notanotter - are you going to tell us your baby's name yet???

I've started sitting Poppy in the highchair at mealtimes so she can see us eating - she loves it - we must look very funny cos she giggles and laughs!

Boring day here, Bf lots, tidied the DS's room, didn't do the ironing, etc etc. Where are you all?

Rumpel · 09/11/2008 19:28

Hi All,

been awol for a few days as my parent's arrived unexpectedly on Thurs eve as my Great Aunt died - they were down for the funeral and thought thye would come stay a few days - so it has been a bit hectic. Lovely to see them and Amber just adores them.

I am sooooo tired just now too - had major PMT all week and finally got Af yesterday but A + C have had horrid colds so I have been up and down with both of them again . Got some lovely pics of us today - have hardly got any photos of me with the kids as it is always me taking them. I had to pile on the slap and scrape it all off tonight - to cover up my sagging sleep deprived face and eyebags in my eyebags

TJUICE - sending you and yours hugs - loads of people are born with only 1 kidney and are well all their lives - but it must be scary for you all.xxxxx

LIBRA - hugs to you too. It's losing a member of the family when you adore your pets and they live so long.xx I have 3 left now - eldest being 12.

SMUDGE - and hugs for you too.xxx

SARAHPO - welcome

SK - my moment last week - was at Tescos on my own for a change wandering around in a sleep deprived fog staring in the chiller cabinets. This woman came up and said "Excuse me", i looked at her enquiringly, "I think you've got my trolley there?" Had wandered off with a random trolley instead of my own!! What a plonker

My fav things:

1 I just adore to rub my lips gently along his head to feel all the fuzzy new hair coming in.

2 His beatific smile when he looks at me

3 His petted trembly lip.

4 When he splashes and kicks his legs in the bath.

5 The way he looks at his big sis with complete adoration.

  1. His look of extreme concentration when he is chattering away.

Well am off to suppurate with a glass of red (had far too much bevy this week must cut down next week or I'll put my 9lb weight loss back on) and watch the fantastic Silent Witness.

nite all
xxxx

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 09/11/2008 21:31
