Hello, I must confess there are something like 10 pages since i last logged on so have only skimmed through!! I just did isaid formula, i got 45! (decided not to include the fertility stuff as fell pregnant on my own after it all failed to work!!!)

Congrats disney

We put our tree up last night and Jack looked at it, smiled then turned back to the tv!!!

We bought him a walker and he is like a different child!!! He is soooo much easier to entertain!!

I fell out with dh, he put J on the sofa at my mums and then turned to get a clean nappy. J rolled off and hit his head. He is fine (i did take him to the gp to be sure!)but i have told dh so many times not to put him on the sofa or bed unless with him.
To make it worse my mum had lots to say about it!!
Later that evening he was sleeping, and dh's mum woke him up. He screamed as he didn't recognise her, became hysterical and twitching. She would not however give him to me and it got really bad. I've never seen a baby so distressed before. I eventually took him off her but even i couldn't calm him. We thought it may be something to do with the bang to his head so we jumped in the car to head to the hospital. However when it was just me dh and J in the car he calmed down!!!
I am worried as we are visiting her again in a few weeks and everytime she grabs him and takes him. Even if he is sleeping and i ask her not to. Dh has asks her not to aswell. So im worrying!

merrykittymas · 07/12/2008 09:54

27 here so not too bad

smudge - don't worry I think everyone does something like that with their baby, I know I first realised DD1 could roll off the sofa when she did oops. I never leave Bethany anywhere as she is very rolly and bouncy.

As for MIL all I can say is keep being assertive remember Jack is your baby not hers, she sounds a bit nutty anyone knows never wake a sleeping baby.

Very frosty here today but sunny prefer that to the grey rainy days though, at least you can get all wrapped up and go out for a bit.

minipinkscottish · 07/12/2008 11:19

hee hee love it xx I got 15 xxxxx

Poledra · 07/12/2008 11:33

17 here . Pigley it's looking like you so far....

Off out to the Christmas fair in a minute. Not expecting much of it, but the DDs will get to see Santa. Lovely cold bright day here too - heh heh. That's going to go down well with DH's hang-over. Think I might hide his sunglasses mwah-hah-hah.

(Can you tell I'm jealous that he gets to go out on the lam and I don't?? And in the interests of fairness, it is the first time he's laid one on since O was born)

TINSELJuice · 07/12/2008 13:17

38????

although, dp expressed desire for more, but not at this minute . . . .

still suffering from this "roskilde" virus at the mo. not helped by me forcing myself to go to my office Xmas do on Friday night (although only stayed for a couple of hours - just to make appearance as they kept asking and i have just extended my maternity leave until April ). Was quite nice to gussy up though - was a real posh frock do and i borrowed an amazing sequinned vintage skirt from a friend.

poledra - meanie! I get mad jealous when my dp goes out too but have to admit he deserves a night out now and again - he works really hard and is pretty good at home, when miss fussy-boots lets him do anything. Just make sure you get a night out too.

smudge - sorry to hear about little J's fall. i must admit i still leave elodie on the bed and pop to the bathroom but its a huge bed and she is not the most wriggly baby. but now her tummy is gone down a bit, she is more flexible and is drawing her legs up and spinning a bit. i know her immobile days are almost over . . .also feel for you about others grabbing and not letting go of your baby. its weird. wouldn't you want to give a crying distressed baby back to its mummy???!!!

I am afraid to say E has gone back to her old ways with the dummy . . .we used it to comfort the poor little thing during the hospital visit and aftermath. Now she is fine but once again used to sucking herself to sleep and wakes up at 2.00am again although she was sleeping all the way through before.

its my fault - i got her off the dummy but still always gave her a top-up before she went down, so she was kind of using me as a dummy,i guess.

but poor little mite - am planning to put her in her own room fairly soon (maybe after Xmas) so all sleep training is on hold until then.

WEaning is now happening - albeit at a really slow pace and lacksadaisical manner. i decided to wait until last week (26 weeks) and have tried a combination of baby rice, cereals and finger food. I am not doing mad homemade purees - just steaming odd bits of this and that and keeping up the breastfeeding. She gets iron droplets too.

Experienced mums - were you very methodological about weaning? Was anyone as random as I am???

disneystar · 07/12/2008 16:02

hi all not read al posts just not had time
my dd called her new baby jessica and is breastfeeding her and im so amazed at this and proud
she was so adamant she was not doing it it was a horrible thing to do and how could i possibly feed samuel like that
she rang this morning for advise for latching
i told her what i think was best
but i could of done with you isaid on this subject
was very confused at the the mw she said to hannah yes you can combine breast and bottle now surely this confuse the baby? why did she reccomend it
my advise was to put baby to breast as much as posible no bottles
good advise or not its day 4 and her milk has come in
but jess has a good latch so surely a good thing

Isaidkissmeunderthemistletoe · 07/12/2008 17:16

disney - tell your dd to avoid the bottle - far better to keep bf until supply is well established. If latch is good then she just needs to keep going. She can think about expressing so baby can have ebm in a bottle, but not for about 4 - 6 weeks.
Hope it keeps going well for her xx

Looks like tjuice will be the first pg july 08 mummy!!! If my non scientific formula is correct....

Morning all. Just had a quick catch up (my score is 35 ) don't know why it's so high! I do harbour a secret desire to have more, but head says it's not practical, maybe I'll do a EEC and have my 3rd in a few years! That sounds more like it!

We are in #peak district at the mo, in a beautiful cottage in Castleton, done loads of walking up big hills with Sam in sling walked this ridge even the steep bit on the right! walked for 4 hours, knackered! drank lots of mulled wine and eaten well! Boys shared a bedroom, and was fine!

Will catch up properly later when I get home!

Isaidkissmeunderthemistletoe · 08/12/2008 07:21

Jodie - have a lovely time!

41..DH def wants more..but I need to wait a bit. hee hee.

A can't be left on the sofa..he's too rolly. If I put him on his back, he's straight on his tummy until he gets cries or spits up.

TJuice- got a bit of brownines in the knickers (tmi) on Saturday too..mini period. I'm not wanting to start my period on holiday.

Have I mentioned that I am leaving Sunday?

Falling sleep will catch up in a bit.

V pleased to be so near the bottom, but think that total abstinence may not be the best way to stay there!

beautiful walk jodie - well done you! I also do a lot of walking with the sling but R starting to get pretty heavy now. At what age/weight are they allowed to go in the back pack? Is it when they sit unaided?

merrykittymas · 08/12/2008 15:20

Have been home all day today, DD2 was up a lot of last night she has a temperature and a sore throat and has spent most of the day lying on the sofa which is very unlike her, I can only remember one other time she has ever been ill. House is far too peaceful and tidy although I am sure DD1 has enjoyed playing quietly without DD2 interrupting her games.

Have put B down for a nap she is grizzling but I think she will go to sleep soon she has been up since 9am with no more than 10 mins sleep oh there we go quiet

Tjuice - your weaning sounds a bit like mine, I think at this stage it's all about getting her used to food in her mouth and all the different flavours and textures

Jodie - hope you are anjoying yourself

mcchesers - aww we will miss you round here, you will be able to post from the states though won't you?

CliC - is that minus 2 or 2

pigleypudding · 08/12/2008 16:14

Hi ladys.

I just looked at the formula again I think I did it wrong as I just done it again and its 41!?

Busy day today with Massage class then into town for a few bits. Thats the last time before xmas as it was heaving!!

Abigail was an absoulte star yesterday! We went out to a posh resturant for MIL's birthday and she was a dream. Sat on my lap whilst waiting for food and whilst eating sat happily in the car seat giggling away and watching me and smiling! Everyone was cooing over her and she loved the attention.
Im so glad she was good as I was dreading a "moment!" Phew!
And that was with VERY little sleep all day ( ie about 1 hour) - She also slept 10-5 last night which was fab!
Today however slept for almost 3 hours around town today so guess we wont be that lucky tonight!

Disney- Jessica is a lovely name [fgin]

Smudge- Glad J is ok

Freezing cold here today so off to whack up the heating!!

TINSELJuice · 08/12/2008 19:25

kitty - are you girls good eaters now? is there anything that you wish you had done at weaning stage?

the weaning threads are mad. i can't believe how pedantic some people are about weaning approaches. in fact, i can't believe how pedantic people are about parenting approaches. Where's the fun is aligning yourself to one particular parenting doctrine? What about doing some reading, then using your own instincts???!!!

Maybe its just me, but some MN-ers have some seriously academic parenting styles and can't even be tolerant of those who don't.

I say " Use your brain, use your heart and wing it!"

RumpeliciousChristmasWishes · 08/12/2008 20:00

Evening all - 26 for me. very mathematically statistically precise DISNEY - did you not say you are a bit pyschic - tell us who?

PIGLEY - festive gin is right

DISNEY - hugs to your DD and her DD

Just a quickie as am off for a bath. My 2 are whinging constantly just now - both with the cold so feeling blue. Got Calvin measured weighed today - 18lb4oz and 72.5 cm long - way off the chart now for his height.

OMG he is going to be 6'5", with bright red hair, skinny legs and no arse and all sensitive - poor wee soul. I just hope he doesn't inherit my Dads' and his Dads' acne That's a recipe for bullying that is.

His big sis will just need to stick up for him - she's a sturdy girl so he'll be okay

Off to relax with a lush bubbly bath, TV guide for Xmas, Freya North and a can of Sweetheart Stout

RumpeliciousChristmasWishes · 08/12/2008 20:02

Mean't to say TINSELJUICE - there are loads of people with major hang ups and really intolerant views on here - it can be very middle/uppity class, just take it with a pinch of salt - people find it easier to be more insulting and rude in cyber world - they forget that their insensitivity can leave people crushed just as easliy as in RL.

cass66 · 08/12/2008 20:05

tinsel juice. Weaning is hard work, esp after just breastfeeding.

I did a few purees with my oldest, and froze them. She decided early on she wouldn't be fed though, so had to go with finger food (they call it baby led weaning now!).with my second I just boiled up what I had every few days (usually carrots, broccoli potatoes etc) and gave her that with banana or apple for pud. it's easier once they're 6 months, as you can give pasta and bread and porridge.

So I think I kind of made it up as I went along.

Have started Ed on foods for 1 week now (don't tell the militant weaning squad!). he loves it, though I was caught out in Tescos today and he didn't like Hipp organic carrot and potato for lunch. made an awful mess too, I'd forgotten about that part. yuk.

Have fun!

cass66 · 08/12/2008 20:08

..sorry, forgot, I scored 18.
