Merry Christmas to you all, our little ones, DH/DP and families. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Niknak21 · 26/12/2008 08:45

Thanks for the posts re the stag do, will let you know the outcome. Must say though it has been 4 stag doos this year. He had my brother's to go to when I was 37 wks pregnant. I went to the day part of the hen, the Sanctuary, not so enjoyable when that big! But my bro did Hereford United (our home town )game and then down the pub, nice and reasonable on the pocket. It does wind me up how much the weekends cost. TSS he can't really just go for the evening since it's in London, he might as well do more. And my friend's DH is a pain in the arse I need my DH to dilute him down!

I hope everyone enjoyed their celebrations, must go and change the beds for arrival of Bro and wife later, what fun it is having visitors!

goodchristmasgirl · 26/12/2008 15:44

Hi all,
Hope you all had a good Christmas and got lots of nice pressies. Mine was very nice although spent predominantly with the whole family trying to sort SB out with his threatening ex situation .

I haven't watched G&S yet !!! Couldn't really watch it with M&D around so DH and I are watching it tonight.

niknak re stag dos again....one of my mates DH went to bloody Las Vegas for a week.....talk about OTT!!! He's loaded himself, but hardly any of his friends went as it was so expensive. what is it with these blokes? I have organised my Sister's hen do, 2 nights in Brighton for under £80 per person. Her DP going to Cornwall and it's costing them £250 each?????????????!!!!!!!!!!! (my DH is going). I just don't get it?!!

Anyway, just enjoying the peace as all my family have gone home now and both girls are napping [bliss].

DH at work all day today .

LM/GCG xxx

TheSeriousSanta · 26/12/2008 16:17

Jees... a week in Las Vegas???????????? That must cost a fortune!!! DH and I spent a week there when we got married....

Though, on the other hand, I do sort of regret I didn't have a hen do, cos then I had DS so quickly afterwards and now I just don't have a social life at all!!!

GCG Really hope you guys managed to resolve SB's Ex dilemma... That chap really sounds horrid. I got manipulated by someone at work years ago, and it was horrid... really, really bad... Everything seem to get turned around to be my fault and my problem to sort out. This person was being really evil. I got out of it, was lucky enough to just call time on the whole thing, but I do know how much pressure a person can feel... It's imaginary though. THe minute your SB takes control and just says 'enough', the tables will turn, and it's very likely that this ex will turn into a nasty vindictive ex (but one without power is simply sad and nasty... Not controlling)

to SB...

OT much to report here. BIL still here with DH so it's been me, DS and Ddog all day....

I got some nice pressies though, a lovely leather change bag and some first class tickets to my fave skiing resort (I knew we were going, DS and I were flying out alone as DH will be there already) but first class will be so much better with DS.

SantaColada - Your profile on FB is looking a lot more positive... Hope you guys had a lovely day!!!

goodchristmasgirl · 26/12/2008 19:12

Thanks serious. SB just needs to stand up to this bully. He is letting him literally ruin his life at the mo. SB is a shadow of his former self. The Ex is really nasty piece of work threatening all sorts like getting his job lost for him and supposedly telling the family (us) some 'home truths'. SB has told me what it is and it ain't that bad, but he is petrified he will tell my parents. I think between us we all talked some sense into him. He just has to have the strength to do as you say, say enough is enough and call his bluff. I despise the little wimp. I really hope SB has the strength soon to tell him to f**k off!!! (sorry!)

First class tickets sound fab .

Poor DH been working since 7am and now working late cos of all the dickheads who call an ambulance when they don't really need one . Don't these people know they are ruining my boxing day by keeping my DH away longer than necessary .

Mocat · 26/12/2008 20:57

Hope you all had a very merry Christmas. Turkey sarnie, anyone?

DS is on the mend after a horrible few days for him. He developed a barky cough so I took him to the GP on Christmas Eve. His lungs were clear but he has an ear infection so he got an antibiotic for that. His temp returned to normal yesterday and he has started to smile again. That was my best Christmas present!!

TSS Tell me how you missed the first chunk of your pregnancy. That must have been quite a surprise!

TheSeriousSanta · 27/12/2008 12:25

err... Yes... Just a bit!!!!!! (that's where the original 'Youcannotbeserious' name came from!!)

DS was concieved just before we went to the US to get married (well, this much from assumption based on when DS was born

We then went to Vegas, then to the Grand Canyon, then to San Francisco, came back and moved house... And then we started preparing for CHristmas.. I felt tired quite a bit (and very thirsty), but just put it down to the travelling and moving etc., Went to the Doctors for blood tests and they ruled out pregnancy.

It wasn't until I went for a scan on 21st January 2008 that it became clear. I was actually having a scan because my GP thought I had a tumour! (and you wonder why I was so keen to go Private - just a slight lack of trust in my GP's problem solving abilities!!!!

Anyway, there you go... A couple of frantic weeks seeing all sorts of obstetricians (I'd missed all of the checks) and the agreement was that everything seemed fine... DS has seen a Paed a little more than usual, I suppose, I'm keen to make sure he's OK etc., but he's just a happy little boy...

TheSeriousSanta · 27/12/2008 12:27

I actually still have the pictures from that scan in a frame... YOu can see his head, and hand, and backbone... What got me most of all through the whole thing was the ease at which I could have had a termination, even at that point... I was shocked at that.

goodchristmasgirl · 27/12/2008 13:14

I agree serious, I think the abortion limit is either 24 or 26 weeks....we all know what a baby looks like on a 20 week scan, I just don't know how people can do it full stopat that stage.

macaco · 27/12/2008 15:15

so, serious how far along were you when you found out? I can't believe they tested your blood and didn't spot you were pregnant! Were you showing by the time you had a scan, was that where the tumour thing came from? Stunning.

Well, hope everyone had a good Christmas. We had the PILs here xmas eve night and xmas day and it was nice if tiring. DS was very good the whole time and has now got 4, yes 4 new teeth, so a total of 6.

We are BLWing! after a couple of months of spoon feeding he got funny about the spoon so now he sits in the high chair and has finger foods or what we're having and loaded spoons of mash that he --smears all over his face
puts in his own mouth. I'm really really enjoying it and it's less hassle than spoon feeding him had become.

He's also v v v nearly crawling which is very exciting! Xmas goes on here til the 6th Jan as we have the three wise men who bring you presents (not santa) on the 5th. There's a big parade on the 5th in every town in Spain with carnival floats and the 3 kings throw sweets/toys into the crowd. it's lovely for kids so we're going to watch that on the evening of the 5th!

TheSeriousSanta · 27/12/2008 17:13

Macaco - I suppose I was 21-22 weeks.... I found out on 21st January and DS was born on 17th May. No, I wasn't showing when I had the scan (though to be fair, it wasn't that easy to tell I was actually PG until the last 2-3 weeks before I had DS), but there was a 'mass' which is what my GP had fixed on (which, not surprisingly, was growing quite quickly)

I'm over the whole thing now, but it was all quite stressful at the time.

DS is teething like there is no tomorrow. I'm not sure which teeth will pop up next but they are def. on their way.

Hope you are all well.

Mocat · 27/12/2008 23:11

TSS That's one to tell the grandkids. I am very glad that it all turned out so well!!

Macaco Yes, I was thinking of you the other day and the focus on the Epiphany in Spain, wondering would you be working up to that. Hope it all is really enjoyable. Feliz navidad (isn't it?).

goodchristmasgirl · 28/12/2008 15:00

Yay, DD2 can now go from lying on her tummy back to sitting [clever girl0 and also copies a wave!!! If we wave at her for about 5 mins- she waves back....soooo cute!!

All OK here. SB has just asked if he can come to stay again tomorrow until New years day. DH is working NYE so at least I won't be home alone now.

Niknak21 · 28/12/2008 16:09

GCG wow at sitting, I'm impressed with nearly crawling and sitting for sometimes minutes from DS2. Clever girl!

TheSeriousSanta · 28/12/2008 17:46

Ahhh.... Ds waves back too... It's cute and he also lifts his arms up when he wants to be lifted up... and (this is a strange one) lifts his legs up to help me change his nappy and then puts them flat down so I can do the new nappy up... I swear that's something he's inherited from his ultra clean father!!! Still, I'm not complaining!!

GCG So nice to hear that SB is doing OK... It's probably a welcome change for him to be away from the 'situation' and, hopefully you can point out to him, that's about the limit of his Ex's power... Once SB breaks the link, the power is gone... Obviously, I don't know what's what etc., but could YOU tell your parents what's going on and what this ex is threatening to tell them? Is that a possibility at all? As for losing his job, it's cobblers.... I can't imagine an employer is at all interested in an employee's love life (and I do believe there are laws to say they CAN'T be)

Hello Mocat, Mocaco and Niknak and Baiyu* your photos on FB are just SOOOO gorgeous... The light is just amazing!!! Your DH (or DBF, I am not sure you are married) is a photographer, yes?

goodchristmasgirl · 29/12/2008 11:43

serious Thanks for your suggestions. There are a couple of things that my parents would def not want to know, nothing really bad, but not the sort of thing a couple of middle aged staunch catholics could deal with IYSWIM!!!!!! SB has told them 80% of what is going on. He just needs to realise that this bastard bloke can't get away with any of the things he is claiming to (like getting my parents phone no. from the NHS records register (he's a nurse), ummm, hello...data protection??!!)
My brother works in a very alpha male/homophobic environment and hasn't come out at work. I told him that if the ex told his work, as you said, they wouldn't give a toss. Honestly, he's such a nasty piece of work.

We are taking the girls swimming today. My new years resolution is to take DD2 swimming every week as I took DD1 every week, and she's very confident in the water. the difference is I can't take them both on my own now.

thefortbuilder · 29/12/2008 17:13

hey everyone sorry not to have been on since before christmas.

hope you all had lovely christmases, and got what you wanted. TSS very [jealous] of the 1st class tickets! I got my last gift today - DH promised me a lovely mulberry tote bag if it went into the sales, and it did! I did very well this year

well ds2 cut his 3rd tooth yesterday and the 4th one is about to come through! he's just been a little more grizzly than usual but apart from that all ok!

not much else to report here, will catch up more later

goodchristmasgirl · 29/12/2008 18:53

Blimey, just been reading all this stuff about the huge MN row about 'Moldies' (MN oldies). In the papers and everything! We def are the nicest thread .

TheSeriousSanta · 29/12/2008 21:04

Oh god, I missed that whole thing (I did see some threads about mould - but just assumed it was to do with housekeeping... And therefore nothing to do with me!!!

The article is hilarious... Apparently we are mainly middle class and ever so slightly pleased with ourselves... Oh, and usually friendly.. that's not the MN I know and Love!!!

Flick - Hi!!! Glad you had a lovely Christmas. Is there a good sale at Mulberry? We are off to London tomorrow. DH and the DSDs are going to Oxford street (YUCK emoticon) - this is not DH's choosing, but DSD1 has a need to go to Top Shop!!!!!! So I think I will bail out to Harrods and then take DS to the aquarium instead. He's spent a fortune today (and bought himself a new purple leather chair for 'his' room - and then tried to pass it off as a good deal, cos I could have his old chair for my make up table!!!!! so I reckon I can get away with spending some money tomorrow!!!

When are we ditching the Christmas names? I'm thinking of getting rid of mine in time for the new year - I feel a NYR coming on!!!!

Baiyu - thanks for the FB friends request - I could have sworn we were friends before and I can still your photos? But I had a problem with FB (well the whole internet) when we moved, so maybe that went wrong???? Thankyou anyway!!!

Hope everyone else is well.

GCG - Rather than rant offer advice on SB on here, I'll e-mail you... I am def. with you on the swimming front - DS has been swimming for about 5 months now and is SOOO good.... He just loves it (but I'm still a PFB and have got him a full wetsuit! )

TSS xx

Deemented · 30/12/2008 08:33

'Ey up folks

Mind if i join ya? Am a newb here. My little miss was born May 1st, so she's just about hitting the 8 month mark.

thefortbuilder · 30/12/2008 17:43

hey deemented welcome!

can someone put a link onto the paper article? i too just ignored the stupid popularity contest that the Moldies thing seemed to be - surely we left all that behind at school when someone decided what club who could or could not belong to. the whole thing just pisses me off and smacks of sympering hero worship

rant over! sorry about that.

not much else to say except sam is about to cut his 4th tooth through so is very crochety! and sleeping a lot which is a bonus

TheSeriousSanta · 30/12/2008 18:27

Flick here you go! I'm with you... There is a real amount of it on MN though - there was a thread I stumbled on recently about the 'best' MNers and they were all the same old names (Moldies, I am sure, though I'm staying well clear of that!!!!)

Deemented - welcome!!!

No news here. DS slept through last night!!! so we are hoping for a repeat performance.

DH's ex is being an annoying cow which has put DH in a bad mood - and you can imagine who is taking it on the chin!

faeriemoo · 01/01/2009 01:13

Can I also join in here?

My little lady (Lola) was born on 27th May, so she's just over 7 months. She's rolling from back to front but no interest in going the other way. She's getting to be a pro at sitting up now, though earlier took me by surprise and bumped her wee head off the floor
We are doing (mostly) BLW since she turned six months. So far she loves carrots, broccoli, bread, and rusks Still in no rush to get her on loads of solids, mostly because I'm lazy, so at the moment she averages maybe three or four meals a week .
She's still being breastfed and wakes every three hours or so to eat at night, but we co-sleep so we both just drift back off to sleep.

Unfortunately, this means the three year old think she gets to sleep in Mummy's bed too

Deemented, can't believe little B is 8 months already! Hasn't the time flown!!

Mitchell81 · 01/01/2009 09:05

Welcome faeriemoo and deemented

Happy New Year to everyone, Hope 2009 is a good year for you.

DS2 is now on all fours rocking backwards and forwards so I am sure he will be crawling soon. He is 7 and 1/2 months. DS1 only crawled at 11 months. Thats when the fun really starts.

TSS Enjoy your skiing holiday and flying 1st class does the hotel have babysitting to leave DS? Or are you not going to ski?

Pina We are lucky DS1 tells us what he has done to DS2 (Still too young to think of ideas)

We have bought a new cotbed as our cot was next to the bed with the side off and we seem to have misplaced the parts to make it back into a cot. So DS will be going into his own room soon, hopefully to start sleeping through

Sorry have read all the posts but not replied to everyone.
