hi all, first time i'm back from having dd. sounds like everyone has settled in and amazing how time flies. dd is 7 months now and takes after dh...very laid back and she loves her food. no teeth in sight, but as i'm still bf, it's a relief my ds loves her to bits, which is a relief, as i thought he wouldn't be too interested because of the age gap. i'm starting a childminder course in jan and really looking forward to it, couldn't face going back to work again

DeathByMonkey · 01/12/2008 07:35

Hi everyone
Well we had a stressful few days as dh was in Bangkok last week for work and got stranded out there..thought we weren't going to see him before we leave for England next Monday, but he had a stroke of good luck. He works in cargo and logistics, and he found out about a cargo plane that was leaving the military airport and managed to blag a seat on board!!How lucky was that? I feel so sorry for the people still stuck there, what an awful mess.

Ds2 is in bed at the mo, he has a fever and has been quite grumpy today. Talking of teeth, his 5th one has just poked its way through, maybe that's causing the fever. I was quite concerned about being bitten during bf, but so far he seems to know it's not a good idea and hasn't done it (yet!)

Not much to report about blw, still going v slow and don't think much food actually goes in, but he likes sitting up to the table and loves watching ds1 eat! How's yours going monkeysmama? He tried baby sweetcorn (cooked in a veg and lentil casserole) last week, and that went down very well, but most things just get smeared round his face!

GoodDaysAndChristmasDays · 01/12/2008 14:15

Afternoon all,

Just a quickie. Not long back from my parents where we had a very nice weekend, despite my poor Mum having a unbelievably annoying bad cough and pharyngitis the whole weekend!

Our Christmas tree is going up TODAY!!!! We are big fans of Christmas in the lucky household and now we even have kids to justify putting them up early! It is December!!!!

Come on girls....let's get the festive names going......

pina how is your face? Hope it's not Bells Palsy....

serious at those emails you read....I would've been very upset, so good on you for just deleting them and forgetting about them (until I mentioned them again ).

More later hopefully....once the (two) trees are up...one in the lounge and one in the den (the playroom).

thefortbuilder · 01/12/2008 14:37

hey all!

well the tree arrived on friday and frankly i was just a tad disappointed....on one side on the top half of it all the branches had been cut so it wasn't actually symmetrical. so after umming and aahing about it i called them and sent them a photo of it and then asked for my money back which they have agreed to. now it's decorated it does look better and it is a lovely looking bushy tree.

ds1 and i decorated it yesterday and dh and ds2 just went and watched the footie on tv!

it's dh's 40th birthday today! he's in a pretty good mood despite us having had the mother of all arguments on saturday night after the rugby (went to twickenham to watch england v all blacks - dh is a kiwi so a good result for the flick household).

anyway must dash hope everyone's ok and i'lll post more tomorrow

TSO well done on the picture auction!

TheSeriousOne · 01/12/2008 16:36

YEAH for the picture Auction!! I am so pleased, cos I wanted something really nice for DS's first Christmas, but also wanted to do something for charity and Flick mentioned the St. George threads the day I was feeling a bit having taken DS to the nurse so PFB is just right up my street and feels like a good keepsake!!... You got baby names Flick? is that right?

DS has been rather poorly, I'm afraid - bad cold and very bad chest (but eating like a horse) the symptoms he had before were obviously an infection (it was SOOO ruddy obvious he wasn't right and I am feeling a bit at the nurse for being so dismissive. I'm not worried, as DS is obviously on the mend, and is my happy little boy again, though he's a bit snotty!

Had the mother of all weekends here too - DSD1 had her 14th birthday party here (50!!!! teenagers) They were pretty well behaved (nothing broken, stolen or damaged) but MY GOD did they have a lot of alcohol on them. Thankfully, we'd asked my sis and BIL for the weekend - BIL is a policeman in a less nice part of England and knows how to deal with rowdy teenagers, so we didn't have a jot of trouble, but I AM glad he was there... Flick sorry you had a bad weekend... Are you still taking DSs1and2 to Santa? I'm a little 50:50, as DS has been a bit ill and isn't 100% yet but hoping he'll be OK for it.

GDABDs - Glad you had a good weekend.

Oh, and happy birthday flick's DH... Oh, how My DH would love to be 40 again (he's 44 now!!)

TSO. xx

TheSeriousOne · 01/12/2008 16:38

Ooh, sorry... GDACDs

Must think of seriously festive name!!

TheSeriousOne · 01/12/2008 16:40

Oooh, for those of you of FB, check out my new photos - DSD1 was wonder woman and DSD2 was Audrey Hepburn at the party.... and Harry got a great new little play toy thing!!

Niknak21 · 02/12/2008 11:21

SeriousI would love to look at your pics. I use my DH's page Richard Farrant.

Niknak21 · 02/12/2008 11:33

He's the one reading a book to DS1 and DS2 is lying on the bed

TheSeriousOne · 02/12/2008 11:59

NikNak - Just sent a friends request... I think I got the right one!!!! (unless there are two Richard Farrant's who have pictures of them reading books to kids as thier profile pictures!!

thefortbuilder · 02/12/2008 12:52

aha niknak! thanks for the order - have just realised who you are!

TSO def try and come - we are still going so let me know if you are and I'll bring your booties with me. What time is your entry? ours is 10am. I'll have one of my mad friends with me and her 22 month old - bit of a livewire bless her

yes I got the baby names which i was really really happy about - haven't told dh yet or about the cost of it. but it's for charity so it's all fine!

went out yesterday afternoon and evening for dh's birthday. BIL took us for tea at the dorchester and after we ended up in a bar till 1130 drinking wine and dancing to cheesy music great fun and we managed to not have any arguments at all. i think it's when he drinks beer and not just wife beater beer, any beer....

anyway, hope everryone's ok GDABD how are you? and pina how are you? baiyu how's the weaning going? and hi everyone that i know i've missed.

TheSeriousOne · 02/12/2008 13:33

DH is barred from drinking Wife Beater beer. 3 pints of that stuff and he'd start fighting with the wall!!!!

It really is just Stella though...

TheSeriousOne · 02/12/2008 13:38

DS is much better Flick so might try and make it in tomorrow... We are in later than you.. Just before midday...

GoodDaysAndChristmasDays · 02/12/2008 15:05

serious how about SeriouslyChrismtas ??!!

I am [shocked] at the party you had, 50 teenagers??!! Well done you!

flick glad your DH had a good B'day. Our trees are up and DH just put the outdoor lights up too!!!

Tell me about these auctions...what have you won? Can I see the pictures?

I'm feeling a bit miffed today cos I had 10 days in a row of feeling really good, and really thought I had 'beaten' the PND (bit silly to think it would be over with that quickly in retrospect ) and yesterday and today I feel low again. Not as bad as I have been, so I suppose there has still been improvement, but I can't help feeling disappointed, IYSWIM.
I feel very close to tears all the time, and have shouted at poor DD1 3 times already today, for no real reason.
I went to soft play (DH came too) and saw 2 friends from church who I haven't seen for a while, i.e. since July and they asked how I was, and I just said "yeah, not too bad thanks, been finding things a bit tough to be honest" then I felt myself start to well up so I just changed the subject very quickly.

When they left, one of them said to me quietly "give me a ring if you want, I had it really bad" and I was really touched that she read the signs, even though I hadn't said much, and recognised how I was feeling. I'm seeing her on Thursday at our church playgroup which is just once a month.

This afternoon I am going into work to help the lovely Alan practice for his Masters practical exam...he wants me to go through assessment of the hip with him. I've warned him I'm very rusty but if all else fails I can teach him all the words and actions to incy wincy spider .
I think it will be good for me to be at work doing work stuff for a bit.

Well, best be off.

LM xx

GoodDaysAndChristmasDays · 02/12/2008 15:07

DD2 also very chesty and snotty today. My Mum was really ill at the weekend, I fear she has caught what she had.

I hate it when they're ill .

mincepiemacaco · 02/12/2008 15:41

trying on my new christmas name

TheSeriousSanta · 02/12/2008 16:38

TheSeriousSanta · 02/12/2008 19:03

Pina really pleased you've not got bells palsy, and the food is going well. Will try to use your facebook link. My DH is not a facebook user really and I like to hide behind him!

Serious Yes I noticed the same birthday. We have a friend who is the same year as him also.

We have sunshine here today which is lovely, but probably no chance of snow. Have fun!

TheSeriousOne · 03/12/2008 15:12

No, Pina the alcohol was not bloody pre-arranged!!! Cheeky buggers!!! We didn't make a massive deal about it, but we did keep an eye on them on the actual night. We had BIL law here and he's very good with dealing with half cut young lads (he's a response copper in a rather rough city so well able to handle a few public school types IYSWIM). To be fair, they are good kids. Not one thing was damamged, broken or stolen. DSD1 really had a good time and that's the important thing. So pleased about the bells palsy verdict - you are bound to worry with having had it before!!!

Anyway, I have managed to extract Ddog from my parents so must go and walk him!!!

Flick - How was Santa? Decided to take DS to the hleath clinic instead - he is way better, but still has a bad cough, but the HV wasn't worried (though, once again, DS was as charismatic as Barack bloody Obama! while he was there... he's just started wailing again, so best go!!

GoodDaysAndChristmasDays · 03/12/2008 18:41

another childminder problem for me I'm afraid, any thoughts gratefully received. For those of you who read my other CM problem last week, I don't think the stress of the constant crying baby is helping her mood at the moment!

Not too bad a day here, although I have been a bit preoccupied with the CM issue and also worried about DD2 who is still pretty wheezy and chesty. DH thinks she's OK (although he does just tend to compare to the babies he gets called out to on the ambulance so maybe not a fair judgement??). Can't decide whether to take her to the GP or not. All they ever seem to say is 'it's a virus' and tbh, it's just not worth the hassle of having to get them both there, then sit and wait, to be told that, IYSWIM.

Ooo, just remembered, just a warning to anyone who uses MEDISED which we have done for ages, as it said it was suitable from 3 months....we bought some more today and pharmacist pointed out it's now only suitable from 2 years old. Apparently they have done some research and found it can be detrimental to younger babies . Pharmacist couldn't be any more specific.

DH back at work tonight after 8 days off.....

mithcell how long now til DH home?

Pina I am so pleased it wasn't bells palsy, but also, really pleased that DD2 is eating so much better, it must be such a relief for you.
I was trying to think of a name for you....PinaCoSanta ?? SantaColada???? Sorry, my best shot!
Thanks for your kind words re PND, it is reassuring to know I will get thru this. Thank-you.

Is anyone else on the yahoo group that babylove set up? I'm now a member, but I'm just trying to navigate my way around the site.

Welcome back Secretgarden

GDABD glad that you were feeling better, we all have bad days. I personally wouldn't expect DS to walk so far and so many times in one day. And wouldn't want someone looking after so many children including my own. But it is difficult as you really like her.
DH was supposed to get back tomorrow but it might be friday or saturday now. So not too much longer.

TSO You must be pleased to have the chocolate dog back.

Pina So pleased for you it wasn't bells palsy again and yah for DD eating more that is great news, just shows everything in her own time.

Niknak We also have sunshine but snowed during the night so have afew inches and it is forecast for 10-20cms to fall in our area tonight so thinking schools might be closed tomorrow. [hmmm]

Flick glad you have a good night out, how was santas grotto? Did they take photos for you?

The boys have a few christmas parties in the next few weeks, so will see Santa and get pressies. No where round here seems to do photos with Santa and kids.

Well finally DS2 is starting to have 5 bottles instead of six ( A huge improvement for us) And one is watered down with only 3 scoops of powder so hoping he will drop that middle of the night bottle soon. DS1 has been so grumpy the last few days but I think it is a combination of dad being away and both boys having a cold and runny nose.

TheSeriousSanta · 03/12/2008 20:42

Mitchell - so lovely to hear from you!!! I think we are all counting the days till DH is home !!!

You have your hands full, i know, but the snow sounds wonderful nonetheless!!
