Thought as the messages were coming in thick & fast I´d start new thread. Don´t know if it´ll work though. Fingers crossed.

Thats not lazy, it was an educational need that has been fulfilled.

Have fun with all your jobs.

Away weekend and back late so lots of housework/washing to do and its half term here and have next doors 2 girls this pm as well.

DS is exhibiting male traits already! He and DD2 have the same colds but he is of course dying and keeps following me round with a "mummy, mummy" but no follow up question. Mildly irritating after 4 hours so have put him back to bed.

LadyBee · 27/10/2008 11:48

aaarrrrgggghhhhhhh

I can not believe it. Just get over the last cold and we get another one! This one flew in on the plane with our houseguest and has made poor old DS a misery again. Had a night where he refused to sleep in his cot so had him almost permanently latched on and head resting on my arm, which was the only way he'd sleep but meant I had abou 2 hrs in 15 minute lots.
He's snotty and scratchy and coughy all over again and I've got a sore throat and I know in the general scheme of things and in comparison to trials of others here, this is peanuts but.. I just want a month of being cold-free.

That's it. I'm not taking him out in public. And DP is going to fumigate before he comes in the house.

Except I have to report my old passport lost, and go and buy more vegetables, and take a book back to the library...hmm...
Can I use that alcohol hand-steriliser gel stuff on DS? Feel like I need to do something to stop him picking up every single thing that gets sneezed on him

What about washing his toys - maybe he's getting his old cold back from them? Could I swab them down with dettol or something?

LadyBee · 27/10/2008 12:16

have you found the change in clocks is messing with your babies? I don't know whether it's just his cold or the change in time but DS doesn't seem hungry for his solids, but then falls asleep when I try to BF but then naps don't seem very long.
Prob just the cold..waking with coughing etc

Denny185 · 27/10/2008 12:22

Poor lady and baby bee, the joys of colds although i think my kids would prefer to come and live with you as mine just get dosed up, cot elevated, karvol on muslin and vicks on vest and left as normal.

You can wipe toys down with antibacterial spray but donr think it will reduce the no of colds as generally air borne. I have donw this id one of the DC has stomach bug though and limit the toys they play with during that time. I also wash DD1's soft toys as shes asthmatic and allergic to dust mite.

Not sure about alchol gel/wipes though think their skin is a bit too fragile for that.

Bonus - just texted next door to say I would be a little late getting her girls as DS and DD2 still in bed and she returned text saying stay in with the LO's and she would take DD1 to the craft centre

Denny185 · 27/10/2008 12:23

Hmm yes change of clocks has made difference to DD2 she slept for 14 hours Sat night and 13 hours last night, sorry.

LadyBee · 27/10/2008 12:38

denny

Denny185 · 27/10/2008 12:55

I know, if it makes u feel better though DS has been up 5 nights out of 7 this week.

luckymummy74 · 27/10/2008 13:31

denny at DD2 sleeping so much

Denny185 · 27/10/2008 13:45

Im sure its more the effect of having a cold than clocks going back though

OMaLittle · 27/10/2008 14:55

hello all! no time to catch up but just wanted to check in. PFJ GREAT to hear from you (Scampmum).

All OK here, have had two nights now with only one waking. Going on hol to Canaries in two weeks.

Was offline for ages thanks to effing Tiscali and now have new provider but haven't set up email (so can read but not reply, sorry Scorpio but thanks for thinking of me!)

Is VS OK?

Hope all well with everyone else. I forgot how much time (and cleaning vim) solids required!

scorpio1 · 27/10/2008 14:56

oh good i was very worried!!

scorpio1 · 27/10/2008 14:56

VS is fine, i have been talking to her lots

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 17:18

Whoever told me to massage baby's tear duct /eye area to help rid him of weepy eye is a genius. After two short sessions of me rubbing the duct gently it is no longer super gooey in the mornings and through the day, it only gets a bit teary now instead.

Sympathy Ladybee on the colds.

Urologist (Head Wee Wee guy at hosp) has adopted a wait and see approach. Oh goody.
I know he's right but its so annoying having to watch Jack for urine infections all the time.

Scorpio please tell VS she is fab and we miss her. She is our little mumsnet celeb and she should be preening because of this. Tell her to enjoy her break though.

DP has buggered off for the night to teach Kenjutsu so I am sitting here with baby and two cats who seem to think they can battle for my lap all night. Cat Wars. I think the little grey one is winning....

Making a cuppa now if anyone wants one... have bikkits too... help yourselves.
No minieggs though. Poo.

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 17:20

Oh.. and nearly forgot. Jack can wave now. And say BABA.

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 17:21

Oh and he snorts like Miss Piggy if you tickle him.

Popzie · 27/10/2008 17:32

Sorry to barge in on your thread, but you will be the best people to ask as I want to know if any of your 6 mo babies are STILL bawling in the evenings? My DS (born 30 April) cries all the time and is still waking up every 2.5 hours for a feed in the night. He's not really in a routine, but he has reflux, so I know this aggravates everything.

I just want an idea of how much the problems are caused by his reflux and how much may be his age. Thanks all...

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 18:07

Hi Popzie, welcome to the thread.

My baby hasn't had reflux for over a month or more now. He does wake up every 4 hours in the night asking for a feed 2/3rds of the time. He is starting to sleep 6 hours without asking and sometimes does 7/8 hours if I am lucky. He does cry when he is tired now, which is something he didn't used to do.
My baby has been in and out of hosp alot though, so hopefully the other lovely ladies on this thread will have some info on their experiences too.

Good luck and sympathy from me.

xxx

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 18:08

Oh and me and DP think the nightly crying when tired is also partly down to teething. My baby has nearly cut his first teeth at the front (bottom row) and this makes him very cranky.

Denny185 · 27/10/2008 18:20

Hello Popzie, we r v lucky here and generally dont wake for night feeds, regularly have screaming hissy fits in the last hour of the day though.

I dont know much about reflux can it be treated or do they just grow out of it.

Hows Jack today PFJ?

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 18:23

Jack is fussy but ok. No high temps. Hows your LO Denny? What funny noises does Aeryn make?

Denny185 · 27/10/2008 18:29

Glad the temps have gone. She generally shouts, think its the joys of being a third child and vying for any level of attention.

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 18:31

Hehehe. Am currently stuffing my face with yoghurt now Jack is asleep on the sofa next to me. :P Mmmmppphhmmph.

Denny185 · 27/10/2008 18:35

Im being a bad mummy on MN whilst kids r watching disney channel, well DD1 is, DD2 sounds likes shes being murdered (I was on the way to the kitchen to sort her milk) and DS is at the table eating leftovers from dinner.

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 18:41

Hehe. Mummies need a break too!
BTW love the name Aeryn. It's gorgeous.

chipmonkey · 27/10/2008 18:45

Popzie, my ds4 was born on 30th April too!
He has been sleeping through for about 6 weeks now but all babies are so different that I would certainly not suggest to anyone that that would be the "norm" My guy can't sit up unaided for more than a few seconds and certainly isn't getting up on all fours and rocking as some others are so maybe he's just a lazy type!
