Thought as the messages were coming in thick & fast I´d start new thread. Don´t know if it´ll work though. Fingers crossed.

scorpio1 · 25/10/2008 21:28

they live right by the canally looking bit...

scorpio1 · 25/10/2008 21:28

will you be there at xmas anytime?

Peachy · 25/10/2008 21:46

PMSL- she must live an absolute maximum 5 minutes walk from my Mum . I grew up in that bit- boys went to the local playgroup and everything.

We're there every day except Christmas Day itself- big family get together at the Quantock Gateway Christmas Eve but will be about the rest of the time!

How funny is that? LOL

scorpio1 · 25/10/2008 21:47

Such a small world...

LadyBee · 25/10/2008 22:23

Hi ladies! Sorry, I disappeared a bit suddenly there - got very busy during the days, then had a houseguest.
I had a girlie night out on Thursday - DP took a half day off and came to our swimming class then took B home, while I went to hairdresser for a cut and blowdry, then met up with friends for dinner and then .... dirty dancing

then more wine...
then a hangover..

Sorry to hear Jack's been under the weather again ThePFJ, hope the antibiotics etc are working.

who was it that said something about rocking back and forth on knees and starting crawling?? Babybee's been doing that for a week or so - is that what it means? so do I need to get a move on and start putting the guitar and stuff out of reach? What sort of stuff are you lot going to do/have done for child proofing? I'm thinking of just leaving that to DP to do while I'm away

Got to go express - spent the day at Bluewater with my visitor and missed two feeds, so feeling a bit uncomfortable.

Oh Scorpio - I've been feeling very periody again, wondering whether it will actually happen this time. Is it more painful for you than it used to be?

scorpio1 · 25/10/2008 22:30

Ladybee - it was Mimi who is rocking; yes its a sign! move everything 'up' a level including kitchen things, socket covers etc.

I have terrible horrid periods anyway - i have a small fibroid. This one is terrible. I had a period at 8 weeks postanatal, then a day of spotting every month (30 ish days)since - now this full on one. Secretly quite chuffed but the pain etc is terrible. I have to set my alarm to 'change' in the night - both tampon and pad. Sorry if TMI.

chipmonkey · 25/10/2008 23:45

scorpio, why don't you get a Mooncup? Apparently they hold loads so might save you having to get up?
Started weaning Harry today. He had less than a tablespoon of mushy carrot and now keeps waking up! But putting his fist in his mouth so I suspect teething rather than upset tummy. Or maybe it's because ( looks around to make sure VS isn't listening) I started 5 days early!

chipmonkey · 25/10/2008 23:49

btw, Harry hates being on his tummy . Seems to have difficulty keeping his head up in that position. He does have a big head though!

SalLikesCoffee · 26/10/2008 09:01

Hello everybody. Urgh, just typed a message on my laptop (this dh's) and the stupid thing overheated before I could post and now have to start again. Highly annoying. (The accountant in me freaking out a bit re the economy so I can't bring myself to buy a replacement one yet. Will have to go back to pen and paper and post my rambles important news in to one of you ).

Anyway... Chipmonkey, at least you've been through it before so would know what to expect, but hope the nappy wasn't too bad!

The afternoon tea with my friend yesterday was really lovely. Beautiful setting, and it was so great to just be able to sit down with her and chat forever without the clockwatching we usually have to do (usually meets up in her lunch hour as we live on opposite sides of London).

Dh and I did most of the gift shopping for the kids back home yesterday, and everyone's sorted now except for the two babies (hmm, baby boom in my family - both my brother and dh's sister has babies same age as R). I have however already decided what to buy for them, so will go to the shop (Beauty and thw Bib in Greenwich market) tomorrow morning. It's this and this

Then a quick trip to Ikea and Lakeside (hate Lakeside btw, but as it's near Ikea it's quicker than having to go to Bluewater), and that's my day. Can't believe it's less than a week and then I won't get to see dh for 2 weeks. Missing him already [soppy emoticon]

SalLikesCoffee · 26/10/2008 09:16

Oh, and if anyone is looking for a pretty (if silly, but if you can't for babies, when can you??) changing mat, I thought this Ikea one was so cute. Will see how it looks in rl, but this this is the one I'm getting him for our travels. (usually use muslin over something else or disposable if really critical)

scorpio1 · 26/10/2008 10:55

love that strawberry bib!!

Idea of mooncup freaks me out...also, ummm, i am so heavy i would be afraid of it poring out

ThePFJ · 26/10/2008 11:41

Peachy I would be interested to know what problems you have with your 6 month old.. since I was away I think I must have missed out on it...

Test results back today... bloods are only slightly infected, poo shows his intestines are infected with campylobacter which is what is causing the diahorrea and his wee shows klebsiella which is a urine infection... which is BAD. However the GREAT news is the doctor in the hosp when we were there decided to give Jack an antibiotic for us to take home which covers most wee infections, even though the dipstick wee test had showed there probably wasn't a wee infection... star doc or what??

This means since Jack is on the right medicine he can stay at home with an open ward pass for a week in case his temp escapes me. It nearly did last night, I almost called the hospital again. Good fun all round eh??

So I am still playing nurse. Logging the different medicines and the times he took them and checking his temp and deciding if his poo or wee is very strange or just strange. Strange = normal for sick baby, very strange = has blood in or is just plain WTF is THAT o.O

I have had 2.5 hours sleep the last two nights. DP offered to look after Jack this late morning/afternoon but he was up late with his friends last night and so an hour ago he was sitting here on the sofa, telling me to go to bed while he was nodding off in front of me. Yeah, I'll leave my sick baby with you. Sure. GRRRRR... Hope he wakes up in time for me to get a nap later before its actually bedtime.

At least he made me breakfast this morning I suppose.

Bleh.

Peachy · 26/10/2008 11:54

Scorpio- mooncups are really rather good and they don't pop out LOL,

PFJ Sounds like you are having a rough time atm, have you spoken to anyone on MN with a child with similar health concerns? I know if you popped a post in SN (I know that Jack will hopefully (at least i think I know- am I right?) after surgery but you would be welcomed there and its a protected space where the MN tosspot brigade are not welcome. Sometimes having someone to empathise about the logistics- the all night watching etc- is as importanta s meeting someone with exactly the same condition iykwim?

Bas's risk factors are for ASD, nobody can tell us exactly but the highest stat I have been given is that he has between 20% and 80% chance of being on the spectrum; his milk intolerance seems to boost that higher (both his ASD brothers have the same intol) so I avoid absolutely anything that anyone ever mentioned to me might be related- dairy, gluten, MMR, ab's, TV viewing, he's having cranial osteo- we're a bit obsessive tbh but we have to know that we did our best. health wise with the food reactions / failure to thrive / initial hearing problem it could be argued he's taking the ASD path but he is doing lots of verbalising that gives us hope and he does seem more content so fingers crossed!

scorpio1 · 26/10/2008 12:07

I am afraid of it overflowing - in the first 2 days of period i cannot leave the house, and, sometimes just sit on the toilet as it easier than changing so often - often hourly - super tampon and night time pad.

Yes i have been to doctors - a coil normally sorts htis out but we dont want to use contraception, so i just have to get on with it. When i was early pg with mimi igot alot of pain, and had a scan - they found a small fibroid (query 2) which is causing this.

Sorry if TMI but will help you see what i'm up against...

Peachy · 26/10/2008 12:09

Actually Scorpio I get that at least 1 day a month too, and honestly I do find that a mooncup plus towel gets me right through the night. I'd have ahd to change a towel and tampon. The usage of a mooncup also reduces pain, btw- a bid boon for me.

scorpio1 · 26/10/2008 12:11

am interested in the pain part - pain goes all down my thighs too, and do often feel better when i take tampon out, but can't for long. I feel so weak, too.

ThePFJ · 26/10/2008 12:51

whats ASD?

scorpio1 · 26/10/2008 12:56

put a video of mimi on fb!

ThePFJ · 26/10/2008 13:57

Looked up ASD and found this page on Google to explain it to me here

I get it now. Sounds like you have it hard too Peachy. April 7th = cool babies who need a bit extra tlc

MommyHasaHeadache · 26/10/2008 17:54

OMG Sal! I was in that shop today! We went to Greenwich to Venture to get pics of Gigi and us done, and then popped to the Market afterwards for a mosey around and came across that shop. We got this, this and this. But I could have bought loads more (need to rob that bank with you Sal!) BTW, we did think of contacting you guys to see if you wanted to meet up, but I know it is your last weekend with DH for 2 weeks, so thought we should leave it.

The photo session went well - Gigi was in a good mood and had lots of smiles for the photographer. Can't wait to see the pics now!

Peachy/ThePJF - I am so impressed by the 2 of you - despite everything, you always sound so upbeat and strong - I really admire you both.

Poor you Scorpio - my periods are pretty awful too, so I do feel for you. My mom's were so bad that after having my sister she had a hysterectomy so she wouldn't have to go through them anymore. She knew that 3 children was her limit, so had no regrets in doing it (she was 38). I don't know that I would ever be that brave to have that done though.

Peachy · 26/10/2008 17:57

Ah they're just my boys PFJ all said and done. After three he can't regress so I just have to wait.

Sorry should have explained ASD!- autism basically, plain and simple; ds1 is aspergers which is mild but he as aggression problems (borderline exclusion atm), ds3 is more severe with learning difficulties and only been talking since age 4.

I won't argue that April 7th babies are special and do seem to need TLC, but I don't think I have it hard. Jack's problems seem scary, I'm amazed you cope so well.

Scorpio- the pain does seem to decrease with teh mooncup, its a known phenomenon.

SalLikesCoffee · 26/10/2008 19:52

Oh Scorpio, sounds horrendous! I'm extremely squemish re all things intimate, but a true Mooncup convert. It costs £20, so compared to the cost of tampons, you'd make up the money spent soon enough, so even if you don't want to use it forever, it's worth a try. TMI warning: Especially at the beginning and end of period, where flow's really light but you still need something, it's a LOT more comfortable than a tampon.

MommyHasaHeadache, those are lovely!!! Girls have SO much more fun (clothing wise) than boys! I saw this cool cardi in the United Ideas shop in Greenwich market and was so tempted, but thought it might be a bit too girly. Really cute.
Back to business: So when do we do this robbery then???

Photo shoot sounds brilliant! We had one done (in town) when he was born, but none lately. Now must be such a good time to do it with all the smiles etc! I can't wait to see your pics (please, please, beg beg).

Peachy, PFJ - if you ask me, April 7th babies' moms seem to be stronger than the rest of us moaners (ok, me)!

scorpio1 · 26/10/2008 20:00

Mimi wants this for Xmas, she told me LOL

Going to have to get her some things from there....love those slippers!

SalLikesCoffee · 26/10/2008 20:13

Hahaha Scorpio!!! It IS lovely though, and how can you say no to those pretty eyes?!

SalLikesCoffee · 27/10/2008 10:19

Good morning!

I am officially a lazy mommy - spent a good 10 mins or so this morning hanging clothes over the airer while R stared intently at the tumble drier going around and around and around... Hehehe.

Have to do a couple of things before I go away, so off to the post office, bank, shop (and if I can still be bothered at that stage) Canary Wharf this morning. Urgh, I just want to sit inside and play here where it's warm and cosy.
