Thank you, we had great problems finding a name we agreed on, she would have been Niamh or Ailish if id have had my way but DH hates the spellings

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 19:09

Oooo Niamh is lovely. I wouldnt have been sure how to stop spelling Aililish though.

Denny185 · 27/10/2008 19:13

Have just put couple of pics on profile

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 19:16

Awwwwwwwwwwww Cute!!

I put up a new Jack pic a coupple days ago too!

Denny185 · 27/10/2008 19:27

He is a big boy isnt he, he looks so much older and wiser than his 6 months. DD2 is still very much a baby (although she has finally started showing some trunk control) and in a way Im quite pleased as she will be my last, I get a LO for longer.

Denny185 · 27/10/2008 19:29

Hmm DH is pacing, sure sign he wants the PC back, speak tomorrow

Peachy · 27/10/2008 19:59

BAs wakes up every couple hours too, but if he weren't FTT (failure to thrive) I would be trying to look fr ways round- as it is I have to feed him now as I cannot afford to drop any. He tends to go 11 -3.30 as his longest stretch now, which I can live with.

which babies are sitting up? Bas can only do it for 5 seconds but his brothers could do it by now.

SalLikesCoffee · 27/10/2008 20:33

Whooh, you guys got chatting today!!!

Where do I start???

Hi Popzie. My ds (3rd of April, so he's got no excuse!) doesn't sleep through either. He's getting "better" though, so it has happened a couple of times where he surpised us. Usually thought it's bed at 7 - 8, waking up for milk at 12, again at around 3, and then again at around 7. Greedy little guy! I can't really complain though, as he drinks and falls back asleep immediately.

Roelof can sit really well (quite long, probably around half an hour or so), but is lazy to crawl. I've spied on him when in his cot, and he can perfectly well do the whole rocking on his knees thing when he thinks no-one is watching!

Ladybee, that sounds horrendous. Not so much the cold on it's own, but I can only imagine it's draining when it keeps repeating itself. Good luck! Btw, I wouldn't do alcohol gel on him, but could you perhaps use some of those milton wipes? I think it's kinder to skin, and it's not toxic or anything (I wipe R's dummy with it if it falls).

Love the new pics of the babies. They are gorgeous! Awwww.

Btw, Scorpio, tell VS she's had enough of a break now, she HAS to come back. Before Friday. Beg her if you have to.

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 20:37

Jack can sit up unaided for quite a while. He can roll over if you encourage him. He makes Ba-ba noises now. No crawling yet... a few of my friends who have had babies before proudly tell me that their kids were talking and crawling and writing novels etc by 6 months but I am trying not to listen to them too much as I am sure they are exaggerating. And if they aren't then I still don't want to know.

chipmonkey · 27/10/2008 21:01

Peachy, Harry is definitely not sitting up for any more than a few seconds, hates being on his tummy, so won't be crawling any time soon and prefers being in my arms to anywhere else! I do wonder whether it's "Fourth child syndrome" i.e left in seat for ages while Mum chases after other children!

VictorianSqualor · 27/10/2008 21:04

I'm back!
But just fleetingly (you wouldn't believe how much I've got done lately!!)
I just wanted to warn you all.
A few minutes ago went upstairs to see to Alex as he was crying. Found him half out of his cot He had seen a teddy he wanted on the floor and stood up to try to get it.
The cot bar was level with his waist, he was soo close to falling.
So please, if you haven't done already, put your cots down to the lower mattress level!!!

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 21:10

o.O

Will do VS!

MommyHasaHeadache · 27/10/2008 21:14

Good grief VS - you must have got a shock! Gigi is nowhere near that stage yet, but I guess there is no harm in moving the mattress a level lower.

Gigi is also saying baba! Or babababababababababababa! No sitting yet though - or crawling, but is rolling over and is very much like R in nocturnal eating habits! But unlike R, she sometimes does not go straight back to sleep - instead she likes to practice saying bababababababababa for around 2 hours - normally from 4am to 6am!

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 21:16

Hehe.. Jack starts BABABABA's and a round of raspberry blowing at 7am. Not as bad as 4am though... how DO you sleep??? >.

MommyHasaHeadache · 27/10/2008 21:18

I just tune her out now...

BTW - loving all the cute new baby pics! What a lovely bunch of babies we have!

Peachy · 27/10/2008 21:19

blimey vs- although nice to see you!

bas doesn't have a cot- seemed a waste determined co-sleeper that he is

Peachy · 27/10/2008 21:20

bas goes back to sleep but is currentle ending most feeds with a sharp nip

SalLikesCoffee · 27/10/2008 21:23

Hello VS! Oh, pop in every now and again, we won't keep you busy too long at once [says she lying through her teeth] . Thanks very much for the warning - will do it first thing tomorrow morning! Phew, must have been such a shock / relief that you go there in time.

MommyHasaHeadache - we should have let Gigi give Roelof some speech lessons when you were here, as I wanted to go home on Saturday and show off, but he only goes "ghhh ghhh ghhh", and that's when he's being particularly chatty! Hmm, maybe I chat too much and the poor thing doesn't get a chance!

Oh kaayyy, so I've got 5 days for my darling son to become superbaby... Tips for:
a) Learning to sign in 5 days
b) Learning to talk in 5 days
c) Learning to walk (though crawl will do as a last resort)
are welcomed.
Oh, and sleeping through, but if you could all work together for us to achieve a - c, I might argue his nocturnal habits away on his superactive brain...

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 21:28

I make phonic sounds to Jack all the time. I mostly do DADADA and MAMAMA though and let him watch what my mouth is doing. I use flash alphabet cards but I think he just really likes to drool on those right now rather than look at them. So I guess my tip is to: Go through the alphabet with baby making the sound of each letter and showing baby the way your mouth moves.

Good Luck Sal!!!!!

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 21:30

Think I may watch this Dead Set big brother zombie thing at 10pm... hope its not shite.

SalLikesCoffee · 27/10/2008 21:31

Peachy, your "sharp nip" story makes me think of my night time routine:
I have a bath, then add some cold water and dh hands me R for his bath. We always start off with his back to mine, I give him a proper bath, and then turns him around so we lie tummy to tummy, playing around. However, every single time he sees my nipples, he'll stare at it, and you can almost see him remembering good times, hehehe. Once I gave him my nipple, and he almost bit it off, so I decided to hold off. But the last couple of night I've thought oh well, and he doesn't bite anymore, but doesn't seem to know what to do with it either. He lunges forward, but when his mouth's there, he doesn't seem to know what to do, so he'll just lie with his head on my chest for a second. It's rather sweet, really.

Peachy · 27/10/2008 21:33

I've been using ASD techniques with Bas [bvlush]- PECs which s a system of communicating by picture that ds3 used to rely on. I do lots of singing for that side of it (Bas loves me singing- must get his hearing retested LOL), but like the potential communications resource that PECs should be (PEC stands for Picture Exchange COmmunication- basically exchanging pictures for needs, combined with verbal stuff etc- so baby would give you a picture, you would take it and say 'you would like a biscuit? thank you I will get you one', then hand the picture back with biccy- not quite how i'd do it with ds3 but sort of)

SalLikesCoffee · 27/10/2008 21:35

Oooh PFJ, I'm going to try that!!!! Hehehe, how ridiculous, but I'd really like him to be doing something as all the other babies in the family (we've got 3 at the same age!) are sleeping through etc. Not that I'm pushy or anything, of course

So for example, when mil someone asks if he doesn't sleep through yet, I'd quite prefer him to answer her them directly, lol.

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 21:35

Awwwww Sal....

Have to say though...the whole biting and nipple thing... [SHUDDER] SOOOOOOOOOOOoooooo glad Jack moved to the bottle at 6 weeks.

Jack hasn't quite got teeth through yet.. does this mean there are babies on this thread with teeth already all the way through?

ThePFJ · 27/10/2008 21:36

LOL Sal!
