Sexonlegs · 02/11/2008 20:28

They seem to think surgical trauma can raise the levels of something or other in her blood which is indicating her kidmeys are not functioning properly.

All they can do is rehydrate her, and if necessary dyalisis (sp??)

Eddas · 02/11/2008 20:30

oooggs, it's all go for you. Makes me feel for moaning i'm busy/tired/worn out etc etc. I do like to moan hope the doctor can help

sol, hope you get the results early in the week. The waitng for results is horrible

Sexonlegs · 02/11/2008 20:30

x-post Oooggs! Welcome back!!!! Sorry you have been and are still so poorly. Sounds grim.

oooggs · 02/11/2008 20:32

oh and I forgot to add that I have to go for that stupid glucose test on wednesday as too much sugar in my blood (hardly suprising!!!)

I DON'T WANT TO BE DIABETIC OVER CHRISTMAS

runnyhabbit · 02/11/2008 21:22

Evening all

Glad I'm not the only one who watched the GP Don't think it could've been any closer.

Got very at dh earlier, and has takne me til now to calm down. He does not shut the safety gates[shcok] I have lost count today how many times I've had to run and shut them before W gets through. Heart was in my mouth when W was holding onto open safety gate at top of stairs.
When will he fecking learn

Right, I need some money advice please. We changing our car, and getting a loan. Spoke to our financial advisor, and he said that if you borrow more, you'll get a better rate. Ok, makes sense. But then me and dh talked about extending the house, etc (stuff that we've always talked about doing, but never in the position too) So we thought lets borrow enough to do car, and house.
Now, once we've done the work, it's highly unlikely that we'll move for some time (if ever) The monthly repayment is ok.
When something I've wished for becomes reality, I get cold feet and the current economy doesn't help either. (although fa has said we can take out income protection)
What would you do?

PillockOfTheCommunity · 02/11/2008 21:33

hi runny
have you asked dh why he doesn't shut them? Is it lazyness or is it that he doesn't think they are needed? Did he do this with ds1?
I don't have them anymore, J can go up and down the stairs happily and if he's at all worried about it he'll stand and shout until I come and help .

oooggs · 02/11/2008 21:33

good question runny - I don't know

we are getting a new car (no choice really) and extending the house (2 double bedrooms & a bathroom in the loft) but have been lucky enough to save some and borrow the rest from parents (never done this before!)

Thinking about it, I would go for it (not sure dh would though) borrow the lot and get it all done

oooggs · 02/11/2008 21:36

oh and Bramshott - I forgot to add the the nappies arrived and I am James is working through them to see which is best!!!

geordieminx · 02/11/2008 21:54

Hey ladies.

Runny - cant advise really - I would go for it, dp on the other hand wouldnt - we dont borrow money, only the mortgage. Its gets on my nerves sometimes but its a lot better for that he is sensible... I've just finished paying off a loan that I took out when I was 19 for a holiday, and to pay off credit card, that I kept extending

SOL - Hope your mum is comfortable and starts picking up soon.

Just found a good deal on the old interweb if anyone is interested - The Book people are selling ITNG book set -12 books for £9.99 instead of £80, and 50 Thomas the Tank books for £30 instead of £130. Also 182FPP1
gives you free postage. x

PillockOfTheCommunity · 02/11/2008 22:42

That Thomas set is really lovely GM, M got it as a present last year

cazboldy · 02/11/2008 23:04

Hi

SOL - sorry your mum isn't recovering as quickly as you hoped

Oooggs - you do sound poorly

Leaky - hope the fainting stops soon

elkiedee · 02/11/2008 23:47

SOL, sorry to hear about your mum, hope she improves soon.

Oooggs, hope you don't find the glucose tolerance test too much of an ordeal and that they don't discover you've got gestational diabetes.

The Book People have a whole load of very lovely kids' book deals on at the moment - I got a Dr Seuss box set for £20 and 2 different sets of 6 kids' picture books with DVDs - £9.99 per set. We actually have 2 of the books in each set already but at £2.50 each plus a few little pressies it seemed worth it.

Vet hospital kept postponing L's treatment (that's the cat) this afternoon, they did it late afternoon but have kept her overnight. Friends are going to give dp a lift to collect her tomorrow. Her sister's quite anxious.

D was heard several times uttering a new phrase he's picked up this morning - oh shit! - I totally blame dp.

A friend from baby group had her second child on Wednesday and sent me a text the same day, feeling really bad that I didn't see message until this morning. Am going to have to find a pressie for her new baby this week - want to send something for her ds who's a few months older than D as well.

NorthernLurker · 03/11/2008 07:09

In haste - SOL I work in a renal unit now so if you have any questions I can always try and find out answers. I do know it is common for people who have been seriously ill to find that their kidneys take a pounding though and for most people they recover well given a bit of support. Dialyis would only be a temporary measure.

cazboldy · 03/11/2008 07:48

Elkie - I'm sorry - I forgot to say that I hope your cat recovers well........ I think you will find that cats usually do thankfully!

I hate the kids going back to school

Sexonlegs · 03/11/2008 07:48

Morning all.

NL, thank you I am pretty sure the move to ICU is precautionary and as you say, just a temporary result of major surgery. You are rght, dialysis would me a temp measure also just to get things cleared out.

Need to run. xx

liath · 03/11/2008 07:52

Morning all.

Poor you, Oooggs. I'll keep my fingers crossed the sugar test is OK - a diabetic pregnant Christmas doesn't bear thinking about!

SOL, hope your mum is doing OK, from what DH says this is all pretty common in someone who's had major surgery when not in the first flush of youth (no offence to your mum!).

The Halloween party yesterday was fab, the kids came back laden with contraband. Dd asked for sweeties from breakfast this morning . Fireworks haven't been too bad - the probalem last year was the bloody neighbours setting them off right outside our house. Considering they live in what is basically a mansion with an vast garden (not that I'm here or anything - I'm sure the place must be a bugger to heat ) they could have chosen a spot well away from anyone else.....Grrrr.

Eddas · 03/11/2008 08:36

morning not feeling very happy today.

i'll be back later to catch up when i'll hopefully be in a better mood
