hi all

busy day here today, been into town then need to clean the house then off to church bonfire this evening Dh in charge of lighting the fireworks (eeeek)
We've had a really nice week away at in-laws. All girls very good especially B who slept really well in her cot which was in our room as there's no where else for it. I was but at that.

Haven't caught up yet but SOl - hope your mum is going on ok and that all our pregnant ladies are bumping merrily on

PillockOfTheCommunity · 01/11/2008 19:19

Aaargh!!! Just typed a blimming essay of a post and lost it!

Try again!

Quiet today.

Happy belated birthday SMB hope T is ok today.

Hope your mum has another better day today SOL nad that you and your dad are holding up well.

POTC and Pesha - sounds like a fun night!

Well I was obviously too cocky on Wednesday moring. Fainted that afternoon and whacked my head on bathroom floor. Got lovely bruise to show for it. Worryingly on my own with G when it happened, thankfully baby gate shut and upstairs is pretty toddlerproof. Fed up with feeling so cack all the time I want to do that glowing thing pg ladies get!

Had a good day today. Had a haircut this morning and i like it a lot! I always find it hard to find a hairdresser I like when I'm in a new area, but I think it's happened on the second attempt. Had quite a lot cut off (to repair damage done on first attempt)you can see my earlobes!Hopefully look a lot less like this now

Then had nice lunch out with dh and G. Bought houseplants and looked at Christams display at local garden centre Then investigated wooden train sets for DH George at Christmas. DH excited that our tickets for Santa's train on local steam railway have arrived. On Dec 20 we're all going on train where Santa comes through to meet children and give out gifts. You would be correct in thinking that DH likes trains -not in a trainspotting adult way, but "In a way that takes him back to his childhood "

Hope you all had a good day too.

Ils arrive tomorrow They're looking after G on Monday when dh and I go to see Steve Coogan. I'm worried I'll not last the evening. Have been scoping out places at work to go and have a power nap at 4pm when i finish until dh finishes at 5

MUST REMEMBER TO BE NICE. Mil annoyed me last visit by reacting to the news of my parents splitting with "Ooh does that mean you can come to us for Christmas Day?"
No no no! We decided in April that we want to start having our own family day in our home and save ourselves the stress of trying to spread ourselves too thinly. She is a nice lady, just enormously insensitive.

Be nice! Fixed in place.

Sexonlegs · 01/11/2008 20:26

Evening ladies.

V quiet on here today

POTC, sounds like you and Pesha had a good night

Hi NL, thanks for asking after Mum.

Not great news to report re Mum. She has a problem with her kidneys and has been moved back to Intensive Care. This was all kicking off as I just got there, so all very distressing. They are unsure as to what the problem is, but hopefully ICU will sort it out.

How is everyone doing?

PillockOfTheCommunity · 01/11/2008 21:27

hi everyone
Sol, hope you find out more tomorrow

SharpMolarBear · 01/11/2008 22:18

leaky, at you fainting on your own with G, hope you'ew ok

elkiedee · 01/11/2008 22:59

Sorry to hear about your mum.

One of our cats has been rushed to the veterinary hospital, she has a great big gash in her side, looks like she must have fallen on something (or the alternative is that she was stabbed, but as the only people she comes across have gardens backing on to ours that's a bit too scary to contemplate, she never goes out the front of the house). The vet thinks he can operate and sort her out and dp will get her in the afternoon. Of course it's not going to be cheap but I'm conscious that we're lucky to be able to find that sort of money without real financial pain. And it's reminding me that they're getting on (11 in the New Year).

Our other cat is clearly quite anxious about her sister though (they were both from the same litter).

CaptainDippy · 02/11/2008 07:30

Morning! Quick post before I have to zoom!

Thouhts & prayers are iwth your mum SOL - please update hwen you can. Hope she is ok. xx

Hope your cat is ok too Elkie - poor thing, sounds nasty - and expensive!

@ the fainting Leaky - really hoping you can feel tip-top soon & that visit from MIL is ok - enjoy your evneing out with DH!!

P wailing, gotta buzz ...

liath · 02/11/2008 07:36

Morning all.

SOL< I hope your mum had a reasonable night & her kidneys improve. What a rollercoaster it's been .

Elkie - poor cat, that sounds nasty.

Leaky - roll on the glowing phase . The local family park here does the Santa coming on the train thing too. The kids (and big kids ) absolutely love it.

Cold & frosty here today. We're off to a Halloween party later so I really should be making pumpkin cake and not typing away on here....

Eddas · 02/11/2008 08:23

HI everyone

SOL, sorry to hear about your mum. I hope she had a restful night and that you get some positive news today. Thinking of you all {{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Leaky, poor you, it doesn't sound much fun atm. Fingers crossed the nice stage kicks in soon

All ok here. DH went for the 'interview' sounds promising. It's a very small branch though, so although he'd be assistant manager he wouldn't have anyone to be in charge of He also heard about a management training programme he's applied for at his current job. He got through to the next stage why does it all happen at once The nex place is ringing him on thurs to get his decision(area manager ringing and he's away til then) but it looks like he's going to take the job

I am looking forward to tomorrow. DD needs something to do every day and hs been a bit of a PITA this week, what with horrid waking hours and boredom She just craves attention and information, she's so very tiring, but I doesn't help that she's been up at 5 some mornings

I've got my brithday treat on friday and I can't wait. A day in London, seeing Dirty Dancing and then a hotel stay with no children bleeting at meeandh is looking forward to it too

Right, best be off, dc sounding bored

Sexonlegs · 02/11/2008 08:29

Morning lovelies.

No news yet, but will keep you posted.

Leaky, so sorry you are still fainting; how frightening. xx

Elkie, am shocked re your poor cat. Hope all is ok. We have 2 cats, so I feel your worry. xx

Eddas, wow, things are looking up aren't they! Hope everything works out. Am with you re roll-on tomorrow

Hey Liath, how is dd doing with the fireworks, or have they not started yet? There were some near us last night, and B was awake crying twice poor love.

Right need to get on with breakfast. K has only just woken up!!!!!!

SharpMolarBear · 02/11/2008 09:04

Hi everyone
Your poor cat elkie, hope she's OK
Eddas - good news! Would the new place fund a similar thing do you think?
Well T's cold is coming to an end, and as I expected he has conjunctivits again. Will someone tell me straight - does it mean we're not clean enough?

leakyR · 02/11/2008 12:01

SOL - thinking of you and your mum today, hope you get some better news.

SMB - You are clean enough!
"What causes it?
Conjunctivitis is caused by infection or irritants, including allergens.
In newborn babies, it's more often the result of a bacterial infection
The most common cause of infectious conjunctivitis, especially in older children, is a virus. In newborn babies, it's more often the result of a bacterial infection, picked up from the mother in the birth canal.
Common irritants that cause conjunctivitis include household chemicals, grit and the plant allergens that cause hay fever."
From BBC website.

Must go and be socaible with ILs now.

Have a good day everyone

CaptainDippy · 02/11/2008 12:02

of your Birthday treat Eddas!! Good stuff about potential job for DH

I'm back from church and DH has taken two very grumpy older children out shopping for food and P is sleeping. I've done some tidying up & now just enjoying the peace

CaptainDippy · 02/11/2008 12:07

Hey Leaky! how's you today?

PillockOfTheCommunity · 02/11/2008 14:06

Behave SMB - of course it doesn't mean you're not clean enough!

We're having a late lunch as J fell asleep just as I started to think about cooking! Apple crumble was requested by M, but only if he could have ice cream too

StealthPolarBANG · 02/11/2008 19:02

hi everyone
thanks for reassurance, everything I read seems to imply it's dirt Seems to have cleared up on its own today though which is good...we'll see how it is tomorrow

PillockOfTheCommunity · 02/11/2008 19:12

I'm sure you're doing all you can SPB
At the end of the day he is a small boy, a bit of dirt is inevitable. My 2 get filthy because I let them paint each other/leave them unattended while I MN have fun and play as children should and M has had it once, J never.

OP posts:
Eddas · 02/11/2008 19:17

smb, whenever ds has gooey eyes(no redness) it's when he has a cold. What they do is rub their nose, then their eyes so the gunk gets wiped in! Nice! The doctor told me that it's really common because you simply cannot wipe every bit of goo from the nose. It's not you honestly Dirt maybe, but not your fault at all

SOl, hope all is ok

leaky, how are you coping? Inlaws and fainting/sickness wise

Hi cd and potc

SMB, re sh's job, yes he would get training in the new job, if he ever becomes a manager, they're sent on a course. The other thing with the training is that really he does the assistant manager job alot of the time anyway but can't seem to get an actual job as one when they come up in his firm, so he thought he'd see if this would help. I'm not sure he needs to do it IYSWIM. I'll let you know what decision he comes too

Sexonlegs · 02/11/2008 20:08

Hi folks.

SMB, bless you As Leaky has said, it is usually a viral infection, or as Eddas said, babes wiping snot in their eyes. Hope it clears up soon.

Liath, how was the party??

How is everyone this evening?

All ok here. Mum is seemingly brighter today, although still has issues with her kidneys not functioning fully. She is still in ICU. Dad came over and had lunch with us today which was lovely. B and particularly K, were really pleased to see him. Dad and K have a lovely bond

Then a lazy afternoon watching the Grand Prix!

StealthPolarBANG · 02/11/2008 20:11

oh that's good. When does she get the test results?

Eddas · 02/11/2008 20:15

glad to hear she's brighter sol sounds like a lovely day for you all, I bet your dad enjoyed it.
