thanks guys. am going to see gp in the morning as don't want to wait till mon when my 6wk check is (and selfishly want to be able to sit in the cinema and watch HSM3 with DD1 without pain on saturday ). everything was fine until 48hrs ago and the only thing I've lifted other than ds is the hoover, so not sure.

loulou - thanks, if the gp doesn't offer any reassurance may tak eyou up on that one.

am off for a good sleep - well till 4am anyway! dh is with little man and I've been in bed with mnet and The Restaurant for the last hour.

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/10/2008 21:39

star - I think my bleeding has just stopped (although my arse was bleeding today as I got constipated! ), but seem to recall from last time that anything up to about 6 weeks is fairly normal.

Am off to bed too I think, so night ladies.

heather1980 · 23/10/2008 21:45

i bled for about 4 weeks after dd was born.

well at 7 days post birth I GOT INTO MY PRE-PREGNANCY JEANS TODAY!!!! sorry i'm just so excited.
alex is being really clingy and refuses to sleep in his moses basket so has been co-sleeping with DH and i since he was born, my back is killing me as i am so aware that he is in the bed with us that i can't relax and sleep well. and he kept getting really wet babygrows, i thought that he was just a sweaty baby, but then realised that he has a willy, and he's been peeing upwards towards the waist band of the nappy and getting soaked
girls are so much easier!!

star6 · 24/10/2008 01:13

ds slept from 6pm - 11.30pm... this does not bode well for rest of the night, does it? He's feeding now and a bit sleepy, but second time on this breast - so his 3rd one! another 5 hours sleeping would be quite a gift I was silly and didnt sleep during his first nap!

mum2jakeyroo · 24/10/2008 04:38

hi all, only just found thread. Ds3 is now 10 days old and seems to have night and day confused - is there anything I can do to to correct this at such an early age? He is an absolute dream in the day feeding every 3-4 hours but seems to spend most of night awake.
As for toddlers my 2yo has spent the last 4 nights screaming in the night - gp said nothing physically wrong so putting it down to new arrival

star6 · 24/10/2008 04:50

m2jr I'm up feeding my ds too with day/night confused. he's sucking away, staring at me... he'll fall asleep soon, i'll take him off breast then he'll wake up and want more! no ideas just sympathy

mum2jakeyroo · 24/10/2008 04:57

At the min he is not even feeding. just awake but won't lie in his crib awake in the night.

MonkeyMargot · 24/10/2008 05:02

Hi there - just hijacking your thread. I'm on the Due November thread - less than 2 weeks to go, and trying to get a feel of what is around the corner!! Wish I could stock up on sleep now but finding it tricky!
Hope you all get some sleep once you've finished feeding.....good luck!

Ekka · 24/10/2008 05:12

Hi all, anyone have the link to the contraction timer? Think things are kicking off here but will probably not be too speedy, like last time I just can't lie down through contractions as they seem to be far more painful.... Lets just hope this is it - I'm bored of being pg....

Congrats to all who've had their babies, I've not been able to keep up with the stats very well...

mum2jakeyroo · 24/10/2008 05:14

www.contractionmaster.com/
there you go ekka and good luck

Honeymoonmummy · 24/10/2008 08:20

Hi all,

I've not had my baby yet so apologies for gatecrashing! I'm off to buy a breast pump today and need some advice as to which one to buy??? I already have an Avent microwave steriliser but seem to remember the woman saying any bottles would fit in it?

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/10/2008 08:23

Good luck Ekka, and to the November ladies too.

Star - I don't think I'd have had the confidence to do it with dd, but if ds was regularly sleeping a 5 hour stint through the evening then I think I would wake him after 2-2.5 hours for a feed, in the hope of him doing a longer stretch after that instead (accepting that it might take him a few days to adjust or he might not do a long stint later anyway!).

Well done for fitting in your jeans heather.
I'm about 8kg lighter than when I got pregnant now . The up side of having gestational diabetes . Not sure it'll stay off if I carry on buying big bars of fruit and nut chocolate though!

honeymoonmummy - check out the reviews section of MN, but when I bought one last time round the medela mini electric was the most recommended by a long way. It's a bit noisy, but that's the only criticism people have of it normally.

OP posts:
star6 · 24/10/2008 08:30

Good luck ekka Hooray for you!

Yeah any bottles fit there
I have AVENT ISI IQ electric and the ISIS manual. I cant figure the manual one out. The electric one is good - massage cushions for breast and you control the speed pattern. my nipples are enormous after though - is that normal of any pump?

I'll bet most people will recommend Medela. Though the avent electrical one has been pretty comfortable.... just having difficulty expressing in general.

star6 · 24/10/2008 08:38

I just got a bebe au lait nursing cover (online only from mothercare) - This thing is JUST what I need to latch on and bf in public! I recomend it to anyone modest. It's great!

star6 · 24/10/2008 08:48

Going to try that, csws. I wantedto wake himm yesterday but problem is, that's dh's time with him when he is home from work and he loves having him curled up on his chest sleeping.

star6 · 24/10/2008 08:53

I can wear my pre preg clothes too, but still have 4 lbs to lose. That will take exercise... dh commented on the extra little bit on my tummy yesterday. it's just a little bit!! i guess i've been a tad lazy
oh well, i'm not having sex again anyway so he shouldnt care

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 24/10/2008 08:56

hi girls, just popping over from the antenatal thread to try to keep up with you all...hope I can join properly soon...

star6 · 24/10/2008 09:02

sorry - I think I win a prize for the most posts at once today... but I also want to recommend avent reusable/washable breast pads. SO much more comfortable than the disposable ones and better for the environment as well. The cotton is 1,000X more comfortable than the disposable ones. They are great!
I just wish I had the confidence to start using all of those reusable nappies waiting for DS in the drawer - we have a full set for stage 1 and 2... just need to try them out! ANy advice on when to start this? The poo will surely stain them at this stage, right?

Honeymoonmummy · 24/10/2008 09:19

Thanks for the advice folks!

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/10/2008 09:41

Only 4lbs to lose is fantastic star! A 'normal' sized person needs a few extra pounds for breastfeeding. I'd have told your dh where to shove his observation!

Poo unlikely to stain, esp if use liners. It is what they are designed for after all!

Hello all, I am so glad to be joining you on the other side.

Unfortunately I am feeling lke crap today as I have mastitis - having had it 4 or 5 times with previous children it all too familiar

Never got so early before though and I think it is down in part to a poor latch so I will have to speak to the midwife his afternoon as I have my 5 day check up. DD is not opening her mouth wide enough and I am having trouble persuading her. At the moment I want to scream every time she latches on.

I have the antibiotics and am taking a combo of paracetemol Codeine and ibuprofen so should be better in next day or so. DH has been fab shoving me upstairs with baby while he looks after kids and brings me food and drinks.

pepperrabbit · 24/10/2008 14:32

midwife just been, back to hospital, uterus not good have to take overnight bag....
luckily my sis can look after Jessica.

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/10/2008 14:40

pepper. Hope they can sort you out quickly.
