Star I know that the breast feeding advisors dont grab breast and babies heads anymore but do you guide baby onto the right spot?
An easy way to lay down is to bring your arm up under your head and bring baby really close into you. Then guide baby gently onto your breast. If it helps aim your nipple at his upper lip.
I had to stop doing it at night because I kept falling asleep and also poor baby ended up swimming in milk.

Photos are beautiful ladies. We have all produced such gorgeous babies.

hi all, would of been on here sooner but had a rough 10days so far.

here it goes....had dd2 by c-section on the 21st oct stayed on ward the first night on the second day a nurse came to my bed and informed me that infection control had contacted them to tell them that when i had dd1 i contracted mrsa which i was never told about so i was put in isolation and had swabs taken, spent the whole night crying my eyes out worrying about my tiny new baby.
was allowed home the next day after i made the pediatrician take swabs of dd2 as she wasnt going to do them as she didnt think there was any risk to her as they clamp the cord before cutting it.
i had to have swabs taken three times over 5 days my first two came back negative then i had to go drs for 9 day post natal check where the dr told me that my poor dd2 has tested positive for it. and again i spent the whole day crying. today i got phone call from dr to tell me my last swab has come back positive {sad]

im sooo pissed off. all this couldve been prevented if my dr did his job and told me 3 years ago i had it. now i have to get my dd1 tested for it i also have to wash me and dd2 in a special body wash and keep applying a antibiotic cream to her belly button and my section wound. to top it all off my dp parents havent been ne where near us since they found out about it, then she had the cheek to phone tonight to say her friends wont go ne where near them now.

im scared shitless about what this means for dd2 and dd1 if hers come back positive too.

has ne one else had ne experience of this?

but on the upside my new dd2 is devine she sleep none stop.

Hasnava. Once you have taken the Antibiotics and followed the washing protocols then you both should be clear.

I would look into making a complaint to the hospital. They should be routinely screening all mother pre birth to prevent cross infection. Keep your food/fluid intake up and keep your Section wound as clean as possible.

It should all be ok. Is your DD feeding ok during the day. You are very lucky to get such good sleep

hansnava · 31/10/2008 22:37

ronshar i have to wake her up most of the time to eat but my mum tells me i was the same as a baby.

when i got it three years ago it was through the drs that they found out. i'd been going to see nurse as wound had opened up at one side and she took swabs. i was told they would get back to me if ne thing to worry about. they never did so i didnt think ne thing of it. when i went drs on wednesday i questioned him as to y i didnt know about it and he said he had no answer for that but he said that i was perscribed the antibiotic cream that i have this time and he had spoke to me on phone about wound both of which r not true. my midwife phoned later on that day and said she had no records of it what so ever and she couldnt understand y i wasnt informed or y its not her notes.

like i said im sooo angry i dont no what to do. everytime i think about it i cry.

star6 · 01/11/2008 04:57

myjob that smile is priceless! How did you catch that?
I feel the same way re: appearance. I'm not overweight at all, but just feel fat for myself iyswim. But my dh I think thinks the same as me.
if you dont use the cream dont they crack and dry out more? will try, though. will try anything!

hansnava for you! That is negligence on the part of the hospital. You poor thing. and at dp parents! unbelievable! I hope you feel better soon.

star6 · 01/11/2008 04:58

ronshar I just tried... fruitless. my own fault for being so uncoordinated

star6 · 01/11/2008 08:36

ok, it's always something... I know. ds' bones near hips seem to be randommly popping (sounds like when someone cracks their knuckles).
Also he's straining a lot to move his bowels... whole body and red face... getting some pretty explosive wind from his bum but very very little poo Sometimes he's even startled by the wind and cries as he strains should I call dr or is this just normal?

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/11/2008 08:54

I'd say normal star. Some bf babies will poo lots (my ds) and others will go several days between poos - both are normal.
Don't know about the clicky hip, but I think that hips are checked again at the 6 week check, so any problems should be picked up.

ronshar - did you see an instant improvement with the infacol, or a build up over time? Ds still suffers with windy pains 30 or 40 mins after finishing a feed, and I think that this is contributing to his refusal to sleep lying down.

hansnava - how crap of the hospital/GP. Follow their advice now, get yourseleves all clear of it, and then follow up with the health authority.

Aubergenie · 01/11/2008 08:56

Oh Hansnava - Congratulations on your baby but how awful for you! It makes me feel very angry on your behalf. On the feeding/sleeping side I had to wake DS every 3 hours at the beginning as he was very sleepy. I was told to do the same at night too at the beginning. I don't need to do that any more as he tells me very clearly when he's hungry!

Thanks myjob that was his first trip to the pumpkin patch I'm paranoid about him putting his thumb in as my sister is 37 years old and STILL sucks her thumb... horrible teeth, too! I give him a pacifier sometimes when he just wants to suck
he doesnt like it anyway...
what do you call those in England? I forgot but I know it's a really funny word for it... we call it a binky...

My mw said that wet healing is better than dry healing for nipples, she told me this as i was trying to get my nipples to dry to heal (walking around topless etc and not puting on the lanolin cream stuff). She said slater them in lanisoh lanolin stuff (spelling?) and it did seem to work for me

star6 · 01/11/2008 13:34

Quinlan just rolled from his front to his back!!!! We put him on his tummy and he was picking his head up so nicely, then finally rolled onto his back!! He couldn't roll from back to front of course, but we were so excited!!! I sat him up in his moses basket this morning and he just sat there, gazing out the window for 10 min (pic on my profile). So cute I love being a mom/mum!

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/11/2008 14:12

That's impressive star!
