Thought I'd start the new thread using paro's suggestion

Hi!
LOL Essie at the anaethetist story, I had a similar thing happen after DD1. I unfortunatly had to have 'manual removal of placenta', a few days later bumped into the doctor in the bank
Re weaning, I weaned DD1 at 17 weeks due to her appitite, I just went very slowly, baby rice only for the 1st month, then introduced each new thing alone so as not to upset her system and to be able to rule out anything she didn't like. She's a very healthy almost 5 year old
Isla is being a NIGHTMARE today. She has fought sleep and whinged since 7am this morn, she is finally in her cot(not for long tho, she is the queen of 40min naps). My day has been made worse by severe lack of sleep. Isla woke a 12.30 for feed, fair enough, then DD1 woke at 3.30 until 5.30 Ithink it may be due to all the changes with starting school. She wasnt upset or anything, just making excuses to keep coming in or shouting from her room to me (I need a tissue/water/wee). Isla then began to stir at 6. So Im VERY TIRED!
Isla has not had her 10pm ish feed 2 nights, then had it later at 12.30pm last night, maybe its a sign???!
Need a coffee think to keep going, only 6 hours till kids are in bed!

poppy34 · 09/09/2008 13:57

fungle poor you.. you defo need a coffee. hope tonight easier.

the weaning idea you had sounds good -did you find that it was tricky with dd1 that she wanted more or was she quite happy to take it slowly?

poppy There are some fleece babygros on the mothercare site. More pricey than some other shops but they are really good quality.

www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B001E683TE/sr=1-18/qid=1220964931/ref=sr_1_18/203-1661317-6209540?ie=U TF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=42764041&mcb=core

You can use them with vest, cotton babygro on on it's own depends on how cold it is and whether you are using any covers.

poppy34 · 09/09/2008 14:02

was actually more thinking for layering when out and about..she is a little squirmer so dresses and anyting that isnt in babygro type button down style not a good idea as we end up with tummy on style or dress over head...

poppy34 · 09/09/2008 14:08

hey may be able to come to meet up tomorrow (depending on how edies cold is).. apparently poo sieving cancelled due to pool problems. Is it at 11 ?

poppy34 · 09/09/2008 15:05

FiveGoMadInDorset · 09/09/2008 16:10

Try Primark, Matalan etc all the cheap ones for fleece suits, I remember a thread about this a couple of years ago

fungle · 09/09/2008 16:10

Thanks Poppy, coffee helped!
Just put a couple of pics on profile. DD 1st day at school, and Isla yesterday.

Amberc · 09/09/2008 16:22

Poppy - most stores have fleecy ones now as it's their winter collection. If it's really cold you could use a pramsuit which is meant for outdoors. Not being funny but couldn't you just put the radiator on in that room? My sleep restraint thing means there is no chance of them turning or kicking off covers - it's called safe t sleep - I can't recommend it highly enough!

Amberc · 09/09/2008 16:35

poppy thanks for little swimmers idea - looks like we're not giong on hols now but I will keep in mind with the pants on top!

poppy34 · 09/09/2008 16:39

amber fleecy is for going out (have got radiator and variety of grobags for when gets colder) - have got a snow suit but opted for next size up so am thinking about. And am

5gomad good idea re matalan -off to france at weekend so will try C&A (they still have em there and its packed full of nice cheap baby stuff).

just had our new neigbour and her dds plus snails they've collected round..ah the taste of things to come (not literally I hope )

Hi everyone,

Am finding it very hard to find enough hours in the day at the moment, so have had to significantly reduce time spent on this thread . So have only really skimmed this one and last couple of pages of the last one, to try and keep a flavour of what's going on. Undoubtedly will have missed various things and mentions of me, so apologies for not commenting on anything that I should have.

Great to meet the glasgow gals last week - sorry that S was such a screamer!!! He slept all the way home. Let me know if another meetup gets organised - even if I'm not on the thread much you can CAT me. I'll even drive to Silverburn .

Just to contribute to the sleeping in own room - S went into his own room last night. He woke up a few times around 3am (which he does sometimes anyway) but apart from that was completely fine. Am a bit head in sand when it comes to any arguments against putting two-month old babies in their own room - he's getting too big for his moses basket and we couldn't fit anything bigger in our room, so putting him in his own room the only option!

Right, I'm off - will be back periodically and will no doubt lurk, but you'll have to do without my 3 mammoth posts per day for a while.

Oh, whinegums sorry about your job.

Amberc · 09/09/2008 17:12

poppy was going on hols but until one way or another a move is sorted (or no move but let's hope not) we can't do owt!

ThePenguinProject · 09/09/2008 17:19

Sorry too many posts to catch up...so just sticking to this page for replies.

Ryder being very demanding today and I've got a big spot on my chin.

Essie - PMSL at your anaethetist. Remember you mentioning this before, you really threatened him didn't you!? He was probably more worried about avoiding your DH who was going to sue him. That moment when it dawned on you both where you knew each other must have been priceless.

And you too Fungle! My GP used to use the same gym as me, which was pretty strange making polite conversation whilst getting changed. No such dignity or embarassment for me nowadays after giving birth...

G43 & 5go mad - Thank you for the link. I'm going to be shopping for fleecey baby gros sson too. Ryder will not stay under any covers, so was thinking of putting him in a thin snowsuit that we have until I get them. His cot is right next to the radiator, so don't want it on too high (and DH hates the bedroom being too hot).

London Ladies - Don't worry about hanging around for me, I think I should be with you for about 12, but I can always see you all next week if need be! Except you Poppy - you have to stick around so I can put a face to a (nick)name! Only joking.

Please do let me know if you've all left though, will email my mobile number.

Will miss your regular posts Dramaqueen, I felt that our pregnancies were really similar - please pop in regularly to say hi.

His lord and master is calling (actually make that screaming!). Hope everyone else is having a more peaceful day.

aberdeenhiker · 09/09/2008 17:23

Hi, popped on because I'm addicted and can't stay away and I just wanted to say thanks for all the words of support and all the messages about other non-sleepers. We have taken away Fraser's dummy right now so had an awful night last night (as expected) but I'm hoping thing will improve by the end of the week. Someone suggested it could be reflux - thanks, and we have tried the cot on a slant and even giving him infant gaviscon (the sachet) that was leftover from DS1 (not expired yet fortunately) and it didn't help so I think it's just really rotten sleep habits...

Essie3 · 09/09/2008 17:44

Just a quick one - Iestyn's been a bit of a mare all day, probably due to too much travelling.

Laura were you at a wedding in Devon too? Lots of Welsh at mine as the groom is Welsh. Oh, and you'd have spotted the shamefaced lady talking to a doctor - that was me.

Penguin yes, I totally threatened him and he was apparently a bit scared at the time! And fungle I had manual removal this time too, so thank god it wasn't the surgeon I saw. I'm convinced he put both hands up there...

Sleeping Iestyn isn't sleeping through or anything - he's not waking loads of times (although he can do sometimes); usually sleeping by 9.30, then waking 4am and 7.30ish, but all weekend it was 3am and 6am, which is not so sociable.
I'm with Amber and others on the monitor: it's totally horrible to consider, but I have the monitor even with Iestyn in my room because I don't think I'd wake.

There were other things I was going to respond to but as usual I can't remember now!

Upsidedowncake · 09/09/2008 18:16

Whinegums, sorry about your job and taht I missed that.

Aberdeen, really glad that you didn't completely disappear but sorry that the reflux tips didn't work. I hope you get more sleep soon; what a nightmare.

Penguin and other ladies - I'll be there from 11 and will have to leave at about 12.15 to pick up DS so should cross over with Penguin. Looking forward to meeting Poppy too!

Amberc · 09/09/2008 19:27

looking forward to meeting you too poppy!

Amberc · 09/09/2008 20:01

PS - poppy - little dippers video made me well up - sooooo damn cute - I want Luke to be a little dipper! Does everyone else find that they well up with tears over anything with babies in it? Being a mum has made me really emotional. Much more than I used to be. Can't really blame it on hormones any more. Perhaps having a child gives you a new perspective on things.

Parofleurmapu · 09/09/2008 20:32

G43 - Dp and I would prob have small affair too but its nice to bring families together. Whereabouts are you exactly?

Sponge - i personally would either put him in just a fleece sleepsuit and if its really cold a babygro underneath or in a grobag with cotton sleepsuit Fleur has a grobag and there is no way she can pull it over her head its like a t shirt fit. I dont put fleur foot to foot either in her cot cause the grobag is such a good fit theres no way it can go over her head.

Laura- was wondering if you and essie were at same wedding!!!!

Poppy - fleur holds onto her dresses and pulls them up over her head flashing her knickers

FiveGoMadInDorset · 09/09/2008 20:33

Laura was in Dorset.

poppy34 · 09/09/2008 20:40

essie I had manual removal too but I've noticed that all sense of shame seems to have disappeared since had baby... wasnt even bothered re exam of stitches at 6 week check. they do say all dignity goes.

amber completely with you ... I even get choked singing to edie (its sooo good to have someone who likes your singing ).. and watching one tree hill today started to cry (probably should cry at fact now addicted to it thanks to dsd).

paro lol at fleur and her dresses
