glad ur bak sk was worried...

TJuice · 14/10/2008 11:17

i'm gearing myself up to drop the dummy ladies. still researching and mentally preparing myself but am pretty sure that i am going to do it, as it will probably be better for us all (she gets woken up when it drops out too!)

cilc - when did you do it?

feel a bit cruella but still . . . .

hi mum2! elodie has dry skin too. i use aqueous cream and baby oil gel but have to grease her up every day.

pigley - Abigail is just the sweetest little thing! she's so dainty.

mama2leah · 14/10/2008 11:18

i have been told not to use aqueous cream! hmm

bebejones · 14/10/2008 11:58

HELP!! Blasted antibiotics for P's ear infection have given her the most awful diahorea (sp?) which doctor wasn't concerned about last week. She has now got a terribly sore looking nappy rash and still got diahorea after stopping antibiotics on Sat. She is supposed to have jabs today as they were postponed last week, just really worried that she is still pooing SO much and it is not 'normal' poo! Anyone else had any experience of this? How long does it take for the antibiotics to work their way out of their system? Im sure the doctor thinks I am completely neurotic, and he has said he wasn't worried but she has been like this for over a week. Have changed 6 pooey napies and it isn't even 12 yet!!

EEC · 14/10/2008 12:03

mamma2leah - R also has v dry skin (it appeared after his baby spots finally went after 8 weeks) - I have been using aqueous cream which seems to be helping. Who told you not to use it and why? My doctor and health visitor both recommended it.

Had R weighed today and he weighs a hefty 14lb 4 oz at 11 weeks! He is on the 91st centile height wise though so I guess it makes sense. It's really wierd (but nice) having a chubby baby who loves his food - both the others were and still are small for their age and very fussy eaters.

Momma23 · 14/10/2008 12:07

isaidboo
Ohhh I did 2 off thoses kinda tests, both were pregnant!! But now have DD2 and 3.. But is is a worry.

Tjuice
I have a kinda routine, she just slots in with DD1 and 2. When i had just DD1 no such thing as a routine. It will fall into place all in good time. Best of luck with the dummy let us know how it goes.

mama2leah
I am also using the aqueous cream on L V dry skin aswell. Why not use it? is it bad?

Pi%%ing rain !! GREAT

I think i have become more active on the relations . Think that ma be because there was so little in the last few years!!

Any one heard from Disneystar lately???????

mama2leah · 14/10/2008 12:31

i was told sumtign else is recommanded, begins with d? and was told that aqaeous adds to dry skin... hmm

Momma23 · 14/10/2008 12:54

pigleychez · 14/10/2008 13:11

Tjuice- Thanks for the comments on my photos. Shes just like a little dolly

JODIEhadababy · 14/10/2008 14:01

Hi all, just back from hols. How exhausing flying with the 2 of them! If only my Mum and Dad didn't live in Spain, I wouldn't do it again!

Glad SK is back, you got us all worried!

I too am worried about Disney I hope she's OK? I know she must be a barrel of nerves right now with Sam's Op looming so close.

I use Aqueaous cream.... I wonder why it's bad? I've never had a problem with it on either boys, and DS1 has mild exma [sp?] and it works on that, although I do use Hydromol too (Abit like vasaline) when it gets too bad.

DS1 gave up his Dummy 2 weeks ago, and it's been surprisingly easy, he's such a big clever boy! And Sam doesn't / wouldn't take one, so we are a dummy free house yeah...

Right better tackle the washing, how I'm getting it dry I don't know, Tumble Dryer broken and I vowed not to get it fixed as it's too expensive to run! I'll cope without it I'm sure.

Momma23 · 14/10/2008 14:26

Best wishes to Sam on his operation. Will be thinking of you both. xx

CilC · 14/10/2008 15:21

I think disney's lo is having his op. Best of luck to you all!

TJuice it took a while to remove dummy. I got so frustrated getting up in middle of the night to remove and tried to wean it off at about 4-5 months...but the thing is teething begins around then (it did for me) and also rolling... (DD would roll in her cot and wake herself up/get arm caught in bars etc) so at times it was quite futile and I was still being woken up by her. I just reduced the amount of time it could be used and gave her a toy with a small blanket attached and she gradually used that and then her teddy to help her sleep. That was around 8 months I gave her the toy. By 14 months she stopped using dummy.

TBH I probably would not do the same as it seems to me all LO need/want something to suck and soothe. It was as much hassle as getting up in the night to find it! A lot of my friend's children just stopped using their dummies from anywhere between 3 months - 2 years. My neighbour's childen were not allowed dummies and they all suck their thumbs (one of children is 8 and still does this).

With Raff I am probably going to take it off of him at around 2 if he is still using it. Hard call... best of luck. Hopefully your elodie is more accepting.

I use aqueous cream...why would it be drying?
My friend uses olive oil, but I have found aqueous great and use it for cleaning also.

Momma congrats on the relations...

CilC · 14/10/2008 15:24

Jodie have caught train to Paris with 2 and am off on the plane in 2 weeks with both of them... it is not the travel I am so concerned about but all the 'stuff'I have to take and organise and then eventually wash when I get back!

Momma23 · 14/10/2008 16:12

When i travel with LO i find the pound shop nik naks great. Little dolls, cars, books etc. Keeps LO busy for a while with new things, plus there cheep and cheerfull. Esp when your hands are full with a little baby.

Going to light the fire, have a big stew on and a big chill out for the evening. Getting my hair done in the morning ohhhh cant wait to feel human again

EEC · 14/10/2008 16:28

agree with momma23 - cheep and nasty cheerful toys that are new are fantastic for keeping LOs entertained on flights/trains/ferries - especially little people who can be made to do all sorts of things - also those cheap packets of plasticine with loads of different colours.

Disney - my thoughts are with you all.

Still no relations here but DH now recovering from op so may not be able to put it off much longer - procrastinating here about birth control - must make a decision...

sweetkitty · 14/10/2008 19:08

Oh I am shattered had 5 under 5 in here today and it was chaos but they all had good fun and my friends played pass the baby with B.

M2L - I think you are thinking of either Diprobase or Doublebase cream for dry skin which you can get on prescription, as someone else said aqueous cream is good too either on prescription (free) or at the chemists. A baby massage with olive oil is good too. Dry skin in babies quite common as they have such sensitive skin.

bebejones - aww poor P hope she's better soon no experience of antibiotics mine have never had any. Meant to ask how's the BFing going any better?

disney - was thinking of you too, sending Sam loads of hugs and get well soon after his op vibes x

Tjuice - did you do another test???

isaidno/momma23 - agree with Pound shop tat for travelling, we are thinking of investing in some DVDs screen things for next year for the car

Jodie - thanks for the wb, washing never ending in here too

I'm trying to get B attached to a comfort toy too it gives them a sleep cue too i.e. bed and teddy means sleep well thats the idea

Right best be off it's nearly bedtime here, B has had hardly any naps and is so grizzly now am typing one handed

JODIEhadababy · 14/10/2008 20:41

The entertaining bit wasn't a problem, I took books, DVD's, crayons, diggers! both boys were very good on the flight, it was just lugging al the bags, car seat, pushchair, Trunkie through the airport and back again! And the timing wasn't brilliant, going out, fine, but was a late one coming back and DS1 got cranky in the airport (it was super hot) and he didn't sleep until we got in the car on the way home at 2330! At one point I turned to DS1 and DH and told them both off for tantruming!!!! (DH had Sam in the sling and it was hot hot hot, ad he couldn't buy and fags in he airport so was pissed off)

Anyway, off to bath and bed, hope you are all well

Jodie

Momma23 · 14/10/2008 21:26

SK
DVD screens a must!!! I would be F%£ked without them!! Travel alot with DP (cause he cant drive with the seizures) so on the road here there and every where. Got the DVD TVs and have a bag full of tricks and treats works great. 9 more months of driving him around and he gets back on the road. All going to plan and no more seizures..

Jodie
Oh girl i feel your stress, forgot all about the lugging buggys and suitcases etc!! So not fun. We were thinking of traveling soon but all that has put me right off.

EEC
What are you thinking on the birth control front?

Off to bed feel like falling on the floor and sleeping, so better make it to bed really..

Nite nite sleep tight..
