WOW!!! i missed a day or two, and go to catch up...only to find the amazing has occurred!!!!
finally!! we've all moved over.

Congrats to the latest arrivals!! and what wonderful birth stories! ((from everyone, really!!))

so, 8 days of life and ds2 still doesn't have a name! it's getting a wee bit frustrating...and old!

all is going well. the slight bit of jaundice he has is gradually fading. ((been a lack of sun these last few days)) and i think i'm getting the CONSTANT feeding under control...for now, anyways.
it's coming back to me now, i remember when ds1 was born and after every month or two and it appeared that i had it all down pact, ds1 would change a bit more and mess up the routine! hehehe ahh! and im looking forward to it all happening the same again. ::::::

i do hope every is doing well today. i think i may venture out ...on second thought, maybe i should stay in with yet another name book, eh?

carrieon · 10/10/2008 12:46

munki do you have a short list of names you could post and we'll all vote?

Just took ds for his newborn hearing screening at the hospital and he passed with flying colours. Good job after the palava of driving there, parking, walking, finding the department...dh had to take a paternity day to look after dd, but we're making it worthwhile by going to creepy crawlies (soft play) this afternoon coz dh has never been and I'm always raving about it.

meglet · 10/10/2008 13:31

debs75 I think the Bupa website has an animation on what happens during a vasectomy. We saw the GP yesterday and he said that the local anaesthetic injection is the worst of it, after the op the man has to lie down and his bits will swell up and bruise and he needs to have a week off work too. But far far easier than a woman having a hysterectomy, I think that's something awful like a month off, then your hormones are shot to pieces for ever, yuk!

Just had a hectic morning trying to get DD to feed properly but DS was charging round the house and garden like a lunatic. So I gave him an early lunch and he is having a nap now. Just fed DD and I seem to have loads of milk today so will express a tiny bit off in a minute. My breasts have been a bit engorged the last two mornings, i guess they are producing more as she is getting bigger.

Biggogglyeyes · 10/10/2008 13:35

yes breasts were very tender this morning and also i had a tummy ache as felt like it was a period due BUT im unsure if i had mine or am i waiting for it to come?? as ive had blood from the after birth as was blood for 2 days and then it went pink water and now its brown water (on my maternity towels)....was this my period?? (im expressing). As when i had my first child by emergency section and my first period arrived when dd was 8 weeks old.

Biggogglyeyes · 10/10/2008 13:36

this is Biglips btw!

Kagey · 10/10/2008 13:57

Congratulations Pidge !!!

Well done to everyone and hope you are getting along ok with your new babies!

All good here, Erin is now 22 days old and is getting a big girl. She is gorgeous and will try and post a photo on my profile.

Love KG and Erin xxx

MunkiMom · 10/10/2008 16:49

carrieon im in the midst of collaborating one at the mo...but i have added a few pics if the bebe to my profile so feel free to have a look and gimme the first name you think of when you see his face . heheeh

also, while i was in hospital, the pediatrician came to give the baby the once over. i expressed my concern about his penis being incredibly small. massive testicles, micro-penis. ds2 was a bit errr...erect at time of exam so the doc was able to determine that a large part of the shaft was tucked away inside. the end result was that it is suspected that its because of ds2 being quite hefty and the fat around his bits is just "keeping it safe for now"... or it well & truly is a micro-penis! dh is fairly concerned, mostly for ds2's "social" future and potential hardships he could face.

dh has done a bit of research on it and found
that up til a short while ago, treatment for this was gender-reassignment! but luckily, its not the case anymore. now they will do a hormone therapy, injections of tesstosterone to see if its receptive. otherwise, he'll just be the bearer of a wee willy y.

will have a word with the HV when i meet her this wednesday. anyone else have any info or experience with this??

ILikeToScareYouScareYou · 10/10/2008 17:25

munki - no experience of willy size, but I'm sure you haven't got anything to worry about. The testicle to willy ratio of a baby is different to an adult male.

But I did have to pmsl @ y !!!!

After gloating earlier on in the week that my lochia had stopped, I decided to wear some nice white knickers for the first time in a month. Big mistake, I'm sure I don't have to tell you what happened next

lollipopmother · 10/10/2008 17:36

My lochia seemed to stop and has now come back as a funny gunk, lovely.

Thanks for everyones posts about the pimples, good to know it isn't something I've done. Thankfully they aren't really bad, but there's one or two that have lovely white heads on them - she's a teenager already!

So, is anyone else using cloth nappies yet? I'm on day 3 in cloth and am very impressed so far.

EandZ - Where about is this meet-up, I've not heard anything about it.

izzybiz · 10/10/2008 18:11

Hi guys, just popped in to tell you we have finally decided on a full name for George.

He will be George Stanley! It sounds great with our sirname, we can now make him an appointment to be registered and become a real person!!!!

He is having some tummy trouble at the moment, I think it may be colic, he is having real trouble fiishing a feed, and just doesn't seem to be comfortable, he is pulling his knees up and crying, he is also holding lots of wind.

I was using infacol, but bought some Dentinox today to try, does anyone have any other remedies? I did think maybe trying a different type of bottle?

My other two never suffered so any advice would be appreciated!x

sunflower78 · 10/10/2008 18:34

Hi all - so all here, wow! welcome to the latest arrivals!

same here, lochia stopped for a couple of days then came back. then stopped again, but had to have an internal [ouch!] today, so ...

hope DD's pimple go for next Thursday, having photo taken at DS's school with him, right excuse to put her on pretty dress... hopefully it won't look too too big like last time...

MoonlightMcKenzie · 10/10/2008 20:27

Has anyone got CAT and can CAT hopefully? I'm worried about her. She's gone awol and I know she was having a tough time.

I wanted to remind her how well she was doing and that when I had a LO as demanding as hers I gave up on day 5 and offered formula!

MoonlightMcKenzie · 10/10/2008 20:29

munki Every mother of a DS worries about their penis size. Proportions are all wierd when they are little and unlikely to be anything to worry about!

OFSTEDoutstanding · 10/10/2008 20:54

Hi Izzybiz my DD is 4 weeks old now and we tried using infacol with no effect
We now put 5ml of gripe water in her bottle with every feed and the colic seems to have completely gone apart from a tiny bit in the evening. We use Avent bottles but one of the children I mind for (am a childminder) had really bad colic and used to use Dr Browns bottles which you can get from Boots they worked really well at curing it. Hope it is not too bad for you and remember most of them have grown out of it by 3 months I know it seems a long way off now but it will soon come around.
PS thanks for saying you are bottle feeding I am too and was starting to think I was the only one on this thread that is!

eandz · 10/10/2008 20:58

lollipopmother

MN Xmas meet up

any interest?

MoonlightMcKenzie · 10/10/2008 21:02

mustsleep is bottlefeeding and probably others too.

I think perhaps there isn't so much to say about bottle-feeding as there is for bfing, so the thread might feel skewed!

MissusH · 10/10/2008 21:05

Hi All,

have been meaning to pop in for the past week, but I have no idea where my time goes (well actually I do - it's feeding, feeding, Jeremy Kyle, Feeding, Phil & Fern, feeding.. can you see a pattern emerging?)

Anyway, it's fab that we are all here now - it was a long time coming .

Was signed off from the mws today and don't meet the hv until 21st Oct, so a bit of freedom at last!!

Esme has regained her birth weight plus another 5oz so I must be doing something right with the bf-ing (thanks for the advice on my thread starlight ) and I can finally sit a bit more comfortably now!!

Right, am off to watch Wire in the Blood while Esme kips on DH's chest...

Back tomorrow....

meglet · 10/10/2008 21:10

LOL, where would we be without Philip & Fern ?

Biggogglyeyes · 10/10/2008 21:13

aahhhh im just having my lager shandy now! but im desperate for a proper drink!!...wanted to have a bottle of wine to myself for tonite but best not as might not able to wake up if baby is crying!!

im off out next week with my best mate to "wet the baby's head".....hope i can get past one small bottle before falling asleep!!

lollipopmother · 10/10/2008 21:26

Izzybiz - Dr Browns bottles are supposed to be good for reducing colic but I am BF so can't back that up, but I've heard good things about them. How long have you been using the Infacol for? I think that it takes time to build up, I forgot to use it for the whole of yesterday and we've had a whingy day today, I think it took about a week of using it for it to really work effectively.

lollipopmother · 10/10/2008 21:29

I would also like to know that Hopefully is ok after all her worries with feeding.

Biggogglyeyes · 10/10/2008 21:41

fenugreek - how long did it take to start to be effective?

mumiyumi · 10/10/2008 21:57

Hello all, haven't been on for a while, don't seem to have had time! it's good to see we've all arrived over here!
My ds has started pre-school so trying to get him (mainly me actually) used to that. Jessica is doing well she put 7oz on at her last weigh in which really pleased about as was concerned she wasn't getting enough from me but she obviously is.
Managed to bf out and about twice over the past couple of days so really pleased with myself
sunshine & munki your pics are lovely, i've put one on of my ds and dd...it's sooo cute even though i do say so myself!!

Kagey · 10/10/2008 22:28

Hiya,

Back again as finally managed to update profile.

Have a good weekend!
kXX

eandz · 11/10/2008 00:37

izzy
i use the dr browns bottles (am expressing whatever i can and putting it in) ...it takes me like 2 days to get 1 oz which is why i think i'm super dry. (argh!) but i do use my breasts more than the bottles.

anyway, the bottles are good. i do want to try others though.
