ooh maybe a lemony tray bake and some fudge dont mind fiddly. mail me .

MrsJB I too have a DP who at the side of his bed has the screwfix catalogue there is a new one now called Big Doug which J has been dribbling over.

Themasterandmargaritas · 17/09/2008 11:42

Oh btw Abby, I feel for you. It is tough on the kids being back at school so it must be even tougher for you. One teacher of Yr1 at ds's school says when they arrive they are like savages and when they leave they are like fully formed mini adults, writing stories and reading novels. You have my sympathies on the savage front.

i went for a walk run this morning. I may set myself a goal to run a half marathon, fgs I need to do something with my life.

Themasterandmargaritas · 17/09/2008 11:43

Big Doug?

Probably better than Management Today or Marketing...

largeginandtonic · 17/09/2008 12:07

Dh tried in vain to read Tess, he went out with a Primary school teacher for a while and it was her favourite book. Funnily enough his mum was asking me the other day about her, saying she thought he had left some young teacher broken hearted along the way. I said he had and it was because she was rubbish in bed. Blunt me?

It is sad, tragic even. Will watch for torture anyway. Nothin else on at the moment.

Sailor boy just came back, just in time to scoot off and get Hugs from playschool. The wrecking ball is still fast asleep.

I only started about the porn as i was goaded in to it by others. I am getting some, although my libido is raging one minute and positively jumping out the window the next this pregnancy. Must be the hormones from the girl.

I want to call her Iris, dh is having none of it. H e doesnt mind Irisa, it means rainbow, whch is quite sweet. I really like Dulcie but don't love it like i used to. If i had my way she would be Dorothy Iris or reversed.

Blardy men having their say.

DH side of the bed is full of flippin Bernard Cornwell books, i keep the porn

Will mail you later Jam.

ShowOfHands · 17/09/2008 12:10

Dorothea!!! More interesting than Dorothy. Do it. Gwan. Dorothea Iris. It's a beautiful name and abbreviates well if you so desire. That was a bit bossy, ignore.

Thomas Hardy's books are all feckin' miserable. Don't expect hearts and flowers from Tess.

Poor primary teacher, did she not like pierced nuns or whatever it is you're watching this week?

JamInMyWellies · 17/09/2008 12:11

I love Iris too it was my Grans middle name I keep mentioning it to DP but he is not so sure. We think we are having another boy so have mainly been thinking aobut boys names our favourite so far is Lochlan or lachlan. Only prob is having to teach all the sassenachs in Dp's side to pronounce it properly.

MKG · 17/09/2008 12:27

Well I don't know what we are going to name this baby as dh doesn't want to discuss it until we find out the sex, which I don't want to do.

Mateo is so cute. We were playing yesterday and he looks at a pregnancy book at mine and says, "Look there's Cruz". I said "Where". He pointed to a pregnant belly and said, "Right there". So I said, "Oh Cruz came out of mama's tummy" he said (in the sweetest voice possible) "Yeees."

That's all the cuteness I have for you.

ShowOfHands · 17/09/2008 13:07

DD just ran up to me and said 'man garden brum brum man garden brum mama mama man garden look look look' and dragged me off to look through the front door. There's a chappie cutting the grass! She's stood there rapt. It's the simple things in life.

Lachlan is lovely Jam, really quite lovely. Goes well with Archie as well.

LG&T have decided with dh you must come up with terrible names then the beautiful names you offer instead will sound perfect to him. Sidle up to him (or is it waddle yet? ), bat your eyelashes and say 'darling, I've decided upon Hopscotch Moonbeam, what do you think?' Dorothy Iris will be certain then.

Off to make a fish and veg pie for t'dinner.

elkiedee · 17/09/2008 13:12

I've recorded Tess but yet to watch it (I record everything and get round to watching about half of it eventually). I read the book. I still think of the Roman Polanski Tess film though, with Nastassia Kinski (spelling may be rather mangled here) - it came out when I was about 12.

Scan yesterday confirmed we're expecting another boy.

MKG · 17/09/2008 13:23

Congrats elkiedee!

ShowOfHands · 17/09/2008 13:29

Congrats elkie. I think this Tess is better than Nastassia actually although I do like that version. I'm rather pleased with it so far but the preview of next week's shows Angel as very different to how I imagine. I'm optimistic though.

MmeJaffaB · 17/09/2008 19:32

Congrats elkie. How do you feel about it? Did you have a wish either way?

Jam, Big Doug! Does sound more like a porno than a geek exciter. I won't tell A.

Feeling like a bottle glass of red this evening. Too many syns though, grr, will stick to my Vodka. Anyone want one?

JamInMyWellies · 17/09/2008 19:49

I will take a vodka with ginger beer and a slice of lime please.

AbbyLou · 17/09/2008 19:50

Evening all. Sorry ofr the mini-whinge last night. I'm just so damn tired. Mornings are the worst, up at 6 and we run around like loonies until we leave at 7.40.
TMAM the teacher was right. Everyone always say how hard Recpetion to Year 1 is for the kids but it's a nightmare for us too. We have so many things we are 'supposed' to do and the kids just aren't capable. I tend to forget about all that at the beginning to be honest and just try to make everything fun and interesting. Once you've got them on side you can get a lot more out of them. Getting to know a new class is hard work as obvioulsy all the children are different.
Hey ho! Onwards and upwards.
AM I hope you enjoyed your day at Thorpe Park. We went to Alton Towers on Sunday without kids and we had a fab time! We did all the big rides, ate and drank when and what we wanted and there was not a babywipe in sight!!

MmeJaffaB · 17/09/2008 20:02

You will NOT Jam......

Alton towers, so much fun. I went there years ago with youf club. OMG, I had the crazyiest crush on this guy who was a couple of years older than me. He had the most amazing dark ringlets that fell half way down his back. (SOH, you'd have been with me on this one) I spent the whole day swooning at him. We went on the rides together, even held hands when we were scared. My knees buckled and my palms were sweaty, pmsl I was such a kid.

AprilMeadow · 17/09/2008 20:10

Had a fab day, went with Australian friend. Never been before so wasnt too sure what to expect.

We were only there for 3.5 hours as it was pretty dead and there werent any queues!

Did Colossus, Nemesis Inferno, Stealth x2! Once halfway back and 2nd time at the front! Then did this thing called the slammer that goes 360 degrees! Had some lunch then went on this awful backwards rollercoaster in the dark (X No Way Out). crap! all stop starty and not very good. Did a slower roller coaster called Flying Fish followed by the Time Voyagers 3d show. Missed out all the wet rides and those that raise then plummet you to the ground. Didnt feel bad about leaving early as we had annual passes so didnt coast a bean! Photos are on FB

Congrats Elkiee on the blue one. D will love having a playmate.

MmeJaffaB · 17/09/2008 20:52

Glad you enjoyed it AM. You daredevil you.
I'm not sure I could take it anymore. Dances with Robots at Futuroscope made me feel queasy (not that I admitted it at the time infront of my "well hard" 5 yr old) I would fear a green moment.

TheGreatScootini · 17/09/2008 21:04

Any voddy for me?I am having a shocker this week..never was there a worse time to detox..I have had customers by turn, die, fall off the wagon and be arrested, get stranded by an erant taxi firm in the middle of the night.Today one of my staff was run over by a bus and we dont know how she is yet, and to top it off have had inspectors poking about.Like you Abby I am very very tired as M PERSISTS in getting up at 5am and there is too much to do and no time to do it (will have to work again this weekend, which is really piss poor TBH)Oh and DH has picked this week to start behaving like a total arse and chuck his toys out of the pram because he is reaching fatigue point with going to college (he is there now.Ive every sympathy for him, I realise he is working hard for the good of the rest of us, but its no picnic working all week then being on my own with the kids 4 nights and every other weekend either..I sometimes wonder if it will all be worth it.He will be a qualified accountant and we will have more money, but at this rate we wont have a marriage left

Anyhoo, rant over, I feel better..

I did watch Tess, thought it was only OK,(mainly because I dont fancy the boy in it much, shallow, moi?)But I love the book so will stick with it..

Call the baby Iris Gandt..I love that name..DH wouldnt let me have it..He didnt want two 'flower' names lest it be considered a theme.(Actually Mae is the old English name for Hawthorn flowers but he need not know that)

I went to see The Duchess on Saturday. It was good!Knightley didnt annoy me at all oddly and got a bit homesick when I saw Chatsworth (is very near Mum and Dads house and I used to work there)

SOH I nearly choked on my detox juice when you said you were preggers as I was catching up..

Mrs JB for Miss World!

Big wave to everyone else..

Am going to bed to watch 'The Family'If they filmed our family everyone viewing would die of boredom..

JamInMyWellies · 17/09/2008 21:43

Scoot check your mail are you free for a Fri catch up with me and SOH.

Sorry you are having a crap wk.

TheGreatScootini · 17/09/2008 21:45

What this Fri?I am I am I am (but I will not eat any cake and you will not make me )

Unless its ginger cake..

JamInMyWellies · 17/09/2008 21:51

Not this fri in a few wks thought we could get a date in SOH reckons we could go early chrimbo shopping.

TheGreatScootini · 17/09/2008 22:14

OOOH Yes..I will check my email but whenever is fine with me, Ive nothing in the book for any Fridays till December!(I am generally half dead of a Friday, but for you lovelies I will make the effort to come and look at the shops and eat some doughnuts and things, twill be hard, but I will do it for you

DH home..I hope he is in a better mood.Last night at about this time he made himself some toast but neglected to realise that a small plastic figurine of Tinky Winky had been somehow inserted into the toaster. Thus is melted, releasing noxious fumes around the house, and ruining the toaster (Dualit-wedding present, not happy)This was then somehow my fault .Because obv I put Tinky Winky in there in the first place..(that'll teach him to try and cheat on the detox anyway.Bread.After 5pm?

largeginandtonic · 18/09/2008 08:32

Good gief Scoot you sound run ragged, you too Abby! You both need a holiday, shall we book a carribean cruise for November? I quite fancy a cruise, sleep over night and wake up in an entirely new place every day. >

I have it easy really with dh home every night quite early. He is no help in the morning but tbh it is no hardship anyhoo. The kids are well rehersed in getting ready and being organised.

I will feel it when he goes away the end of October, he should be home most weekends but that can be stressful. It will be a late night arrival on Friday and an afternoon goodbye on Sunday. I am supposed to be taking it super easy (bed rest < snort >) from the middle of October to avoid another hospital stay with nasty drugs to keep the baby in. I have my fingers crossed it will be ok. He goes that same week! Useful huh?

Congrats Elkie! I lurve wee boys

MKG your boy does sound sweet, perhaps he could teach B a few sweet tricks. He is seriously lacking in them atm...

SOH are you coming to me in October? We have no kids (well B only) weekend of 5th, my parents weekend of 10th and twins birthday weekend of 18th. They all break up for half term 24th and should be away most of the week so will be quiet. If it is the week then anytime! You can make me tea and bring me cake

School run time, back later. Will mail you recipies Jam, have the books next to me now.

MKG · 18/09/2008 12:23

Can I tell you how much I hate having a cold. They are annoying, and I don't like them.

Well fall is here. It is getting chilly here at night, and I welcome it with open arms. Figure the colder it gets the sooner I will see this baby and officially be done being pregnant . .. .maybe. I'm pretty sure that this is my last one. However, when I think about it being my last, I get sad. But it's for the best. I always said no babies after 30 and this one is just making the cut off by a couple months. Spend my twenties starting my family and my thirties being a family. That is my new mantra.

I may look into being a surrogate though.

MmeJaffaB · 18/09/2008 12:45

Really MKG? A Surrogate, could/would you do it?

Get well soon.
