Norty, that is crap, this has been going on for months, hope you get someone to listen to you asap.

Daisy, that's brilliant news for all of you

LittleMissNorty · 09/09/2008 22:10

X linked means it goes down the maternal line Daisy.....if you have a DS, the father only contributes the Y chromosome and you the X....girls have 2 Xs so can preferentially express the "healthy" one and the other is supressed - same as haemophilia and muscular dystrophy inheritence....gils are carriers, boys affected. Can get girls affected but unusual.

andiem · 09/09/2008 22:13

LittleMissNorty · 09/09/2008 22:13

Is that right? Oh blimey, I'm tired and hormonal!

andiem · 09/09/2008 22:14

yes that's right norty

FrazzledFairyFay · 09/09/2008 22:18

Hi Andiem, I wondered where you'd been hiding . Hope the editing is going ok. October for Hampton Court would be great. We are off to cornwall for a week from 13th and Dh is off the week after as well. It is DD's 3rd birthday in that week so we have quite a few trips planned. I am soooooo desperate for my holiday. I don't even care if it rains for the whole week. No cooking, cleaning, washing, ......

andiem · 09/09/2008 22:22

have a lovely time fairy you deserve a break

am feeling a bit frazzled at the mo but getting there

off to bed ds1 is in my bed as dh away and he felt sad took the easy option and said go and get in mummy's bed then

TALLULAHBELLE · 09/09/2008 23:57

Tried to catch up but Jammy confused me with all that reception/ Year one stuff! Here in Scotland you start primary school in Primary One. Second year of school - Primary 2 & so on. Seems a lot less confusing, maybe someone should suggest it Down South!

BF counselling sounds interesting - any info on b/f twins? Thought I'd have it all sussed 2nd time around after all the problems I had with DD, then someone sneaks in & moves the goalposts .

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 10/09/2008 00:14

on your behalf Norty.

Yay for your DH Daisy.
And yes colour blindness is much more common in men, but is passed on the x chromosome. And there is a theory that mothers of colourblind men have some sort of super-perception of colour. A friend of DH when we lived in Newcastle was doing a PhD on it. He did some tests for her (he is a bit colourblind) and she wanted his mum to come in with him and do some tests and take bloods from them, but we then moved away so it didn't happen.

I had a good night out. Yummy food, good chat with my work friends, some wine, some laughs, then a quick look round the fair in town before the train home

LittleMissNorty · 10/09/2008 08:46

Thanks Andie ....so I haven't completely forgotten my education then. I really enjoyed that degree...was just a long time ago

Was wondering where you had got to.....hope you get the editing done in time....then you can realx

I'm going to Scotland for 2 weeks in October.....and REALLY looking forward to it as well....love Cornwall as well....whereabouts are you off to Fairy?

Thanks for reassurance re baby's heart.....and support everyone...I'm so sorry to keep going on about it but it does make me feel better getting it off my chest.....was up till very late discussing with DH (who does have a bit of difficulty completely understanding how I feel...."well you have to force yourself to do these things....." ) but essentially feel better. At least I'm getting a referral and will be properly assessed and speak to someone who (a) knows what they're talking about and (b) might appear like they care.....unlike GP....one good one was "would you like some time off work?".....I really hate that sick note culture.....oh sign her off and on to the next patient . Will be interesting to see how long I have to wait for an appointment......

TALLULAHBELLE · 10/09/2008 10:12

Sorrt Norty I've missed something. What happened with the baby's heart? Have been away so long & find it hard to catch up on the threads. Hope everything OK.

FrazzledFairyFay · 10/09/2008 10:38

We are going to the same hotel that we went to in February, on the cliff tops just outside Newquay. I can't wait

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 10/09/2008 13:36

That looks great Fairy. I am so looking forward to our holiday, just 10 days to go!

Ohforfoxsake · 10/09/2008 14:52

I heart Mr and Mrs Norty Thank you thank you thank you.

I'm sorry to hear about your crappy GP Norty. Sounds like she's not doing you any favours. Any other practices around where you are?

Ahhh, its good to be back.

Hello everyone. Nice to see you again Andie. Fury's been quiet lately. Hope she is feeling better (Iknow you are out there ...!)

Have done 35 minutes Wii Fit, made dinner for tonight, had a cuppa and biscuit, now time to pick up DD. I could get used to this. DD2 has been aleep since 1.30.

FrazzledFairyFay · 10/09/2008 16:41

Good to see you back Foxy. I love Wii Fit too. I particularly like the step and the hula hooping. I'm rubbish at ski jumping

LackaDAISYcal · 10/09/2008 17:13

tallulah, you want to talk to Marslady. She BF her twins .

the body can cope with the demands two babies puts on it and you will have enough milk, but I think getting BF established can be pretty exhausting (considering how hard it is with just the one baby!), especially with a toddler to look after as well. You'll need lots of help with DD and around the house if you are going to do it.

Bumperlicious · 10/09/2008 19:56

Hi all

Fairy, can you ask MNHQ to nullify your entry and resubmit? I'm sure they mentioned they could do it. I really want to enter but a) I don't like coffee, b) my passport has run out and I can't afford a new one and c) I don't know if my job would let me be involved with promotion. I'm too embarrassed to ask them, but I would love to do it.

Norty, sorry you are having such a crap time. What a fucking nightmare for you.

Daisy, GREAT news about DH's job. How is MRR doing at the moment?

Tallulah, how are you doing? BFing is going to be tough, but I have seen a woman (with a toddler) who bfs twins, she does them at the same time. You can do it, but you will need lots of support. Whatever you can do to start off with is going to give them a good start. Is DH going to be taking much time off?

Hi everyone else, hope you are ok. I have had a tough day at work, feel like I am doing a shit job. It's taken me a long time to settle in. It would have done anyway, but working part-time is making it harder. I think my boss and colleague is losing patience with me. I feel like people think I am stupid, just little things they say and their astounded reaction when I appear knowledgeable about something! Like I was telling a guy about The Grid computer network used by CERN which will probably be the next internet (I read about in the Economist or something) and he was like "Did you read about that in a Dan Brown novel?" and when I assured him I hadn't he said "well, I'll have to look it up to check".

FrazzledFairyFay · 10/09/2008 19:59

Bumper, Little Lapin told me to clear my computer's cookies and that would let me back in to fill in the survey again - that's what I did. Fingers crossed.

That sounds crappy about work. Best to ignore people who treat you like that imho.

NattyThomasAndEllen · 10/09/2008 20:00

for you norty
about dh daisy!

evening all, just poppin in super quick b4 i go bed, ive been falling asleep at 8.30 most nights this week, and still feeling shattered. prob cos kids kick me out of bed a couple times a night

how is everyone ?

FrazzledFairyFay · 10/09/2008 20:00

Right, I'm off to bed. DS had me up from 11-2 last night and then woke me up just before 7, and I am pooped.

FrazzledFairyFay · 10/09/2008 20:01

Can anyone help trace?

HellHathNoFury · 10/09/2008 20:29

Daisy you are famous....
again....

HERE

LackaDAISYcal · 10/09/2008 20:48

Cracking name, Virgil

waves to everybody. Natty, you rest up; this stage of pregnancy is exhausting.

Norty hope you get something sorted soon.

bumper, sorry things are being a bit crappy at work. Bloke sounds like he is a git and one of these people who doesn't like to find out new and interesting things from a mere woman. spit in his tea next time you are on tea duty

I'm fucked...and not in a good way . Have been building beds and shifting furniture and then went to local retail park for some bits and pieces; spent two hours walking around, then chased after DD all afternoon, moved some more furniture and now I can't move. My hips have siezed up completely and I have a stinker of a cold to boot.

And I can't get in my bedroom for DD's changing table and really need to go to bed.
