OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TheShipsCat · 11/09/2008 13:43

Dondons - I am about your builders - we desperately need loads of work done but I can't find anyone to do it!

OMa - I'm sure your DH is lovely, but it might be a little odd to meet him rather than you! I'm afraid I'm a stalwart N londoner at heart - but it's no better than the south - (although DH and I are sure that the drivers in S London are worse!). One of the latest stabbings (the EastEnders brother one) was on our old street, at the bar where we had our wedding reception...

By the way, impressed at E's dive and suction plan!

Can I ask how people with more than 2 kids deal with all the washing? DD1 was in reuseable nappies, but there is so much washing to do that I keep putting off putting dd2 in them. It's not the washing so much as the drying...

OMaLittle · 11/09/2008 13:59

Gosh, yet more spooky similarities. Not two minutes ago I was looking at the laundry basket in horror thinking 'how the feck did you get full again?', and guiltily throwing another disposable in the bin. Meanwhile DD1's perfectly functional Tots Bots tut inwardly as they lie redundant in the drawer I hid put them in upstairs. It's a pathetic genuine thing preventing me considering another - I think we'd have to get another washing machine. I can't get anywhere without picking my way round drying racks draped in damp clothes, and that's with me still in oh-fuck-it-I'll-wear-the-sicky-clothes-I-wore-yesterday mode.

Drivers in the South are definitely worse, from the POV of a cyclist.

TheShipsCat · 11/09/2008 15:05

God. You really could be me. (TSC looks down at her sick-covered clothes worn for the third day in a row, and wonders what DH will say when he realises he's got no dry shirts for work tomorrow - but hey, he could always cover himself in small pink items...)

OMaLittle · 11/09/2008 15:14

[smug preen emoticon]*

I am wearing clean clothes (well, ahem, top anyway, only one pair of jeans fits). AND I had a shower. AND (get this) I even put on makeup and earrings for DH's return. He looked very suspicious and asked me in detail what I had been doing for the past two days.

*(valid for one day only)

TheShipsCat · 11/09/2008 15:40

A shower? make-up? EARRINGS? I might have to ask you to leave the scummy mummys' more-than-twice-a-night club...

Peachy · 11/09/2008 15:41

Can I ask how people with more than 2 kids deal with all the washing

i dont, its a copnstant battle, put ds3 in the wrong trousers topday (cur wallace & gromet musc) and they fell down all day at school , only picked them up becuase got washing confused....

Peachy · 11/09/2008 15:43

I managed a hair dye make up even eyebrows today- abandoned dh for an hour. Well h is playing mid-day - 2am so hey ho

His 'mate' at the carnival club cant be arsed this week, so dh has been left with 4 days of wiring to do for saturday, alone. Grrrrrr.

TheShipsCat · 11/09/2008 16:16

Peachy, you must be looking so glam now!
What am I doing wrong? Actually, not much point in dyeing my hair , as its falling out - and dd2 is pulling it out - in clumps.

Peachy · 11/09/2008 16:18

not sure about glam lol, distinctly nasty trousers (but not seen behind buggy so what the Hell LOL)

Denny185 · 11/09/2008 20:36

Make up, mines only cracked open when Im so tired I look translucent

I did read the last couple of days but buggered if I can remember any of it now ive got to the top. Some brain cells are def sitting redundant at the minute.

Had a really busy week this week with lots of running round doing jobs that have been put off for the last 6 weeks. Oh and a v long coffee morning Tomorrow I have nothing to do but some shopping - bliss.

Washing - I keep ontop of mine (ish) by making sure the machine goes on every day, if the basket is empty I strip a bed or put some towels on. Otherwise if it dosent go on 4 a day it will have to go on twice another day.

SalLikesCoffee · 11/09/2008 21:01

Hello everyone. Lol'd at posts! Phew, you girls sound back to normal with the general gorgeousness and efficiency going around. From tomorrow I'll made more of an effort. Promise.

Had a nice day here. R slept from 8 to 10 this morning, so I got back in bed. Heaven. Ended up going to library this afternoon for more baby dvd's, as if I have to listen to anyther repeat of 100 best songs I'd die. On the way back went for a coffee, and R was a little darling, smiling at all the people, playing with his toys, making me look like a "proper" mommy! (Once home tried out his tricks again, but I owed him, so happily carried him around, playing planes with him.)

SalLikesCoffee · 11/09/2008 21:37

My sulk of the day. I kind of know I shouldn't have got so cross, but I just lost it.

LadyBee · 11/09/2008 22:44

meh. Tired.
Swimming was good.
Am struggling to work out DS's feeds now, his pattern seems to be all over the show. Will spend time tomorrow trying to work it out. At the moment he just doesn't seem to be taking in enough during the day which is making settling in the evening quite difficult.
I was thinking of moving him into his nursery this weekend

SalLikesCoffee · 11/09/2008 23:01

Oh, he might like his nursery! R's taken to chatting so loud to his toys when he wakes up in the mornings that we're woken up by it!

I wonder if this change of patterns are linked in any way to teething (which I currently blame for everything). I've got no idea what he's going to do when anymore, so I just seem to go with whatever he fancies lately. Makes planning anything next to impossible, as I won't wake him when he's sleeping, whatever the time (anything for peace and quiet!)

Peachy · 12/09/2008 10:48

Could be sal, but also they just get excited by their new found abilites at this age.

I have realised that I am a perfect Mom. How did I know this? becuase the Head accused me of spoiling the kids. Now, I reckon anyone with 4 kids who can spoil them must be not only perfect LOL but als amaster of organisation.

Spoilt my arse!

This was ue to us having to drag a kicking screaming ad beggiing ds3 into school today claming he was scared. Whata re these bastards doing to my baby????

Peachy · 12/09/2008 10:58

just found dad was rushed in for emergency surgery on a breast lump last night but dh at college not answering phone

SalLikesCoffee · 12/09/2008 11:08

Oh Peachy, that's horrible. Thinking of you.

Lol though at your Perfect Mom-ness It is worrying that your poor ds3 is so upset - I guess not that easy finding out the reason with such an appalling attitude from the Head.

LadyBee · 12/09/2008 11:42

oh no! poor ds3, must be awful feeling that scared about something, I wonder what's going on?

owowow, ds keeps clamoing down on me, his latch has gone all odd. We've gone from sucker fish to chompy snapper fish.

day at home today, pregnant friend not up to travelling -- she's due on Tuesday. I am both appalled at the thought that she (or any other woman) has to go through labour, and weirdly jealous.

LadyBee · 12/09/2008 11:47

that would be clamping, not clamoing.
Sorry to hear about your dad too Peachy, sorry, skimmed over in hurry to catch up.

Peachy · 12/09/2008 15:06

still no news- mum changed her mobile tis week and i havent got her number, sisters in hospital i think so theres turned off. dh waited 3 hours but gave up. am masively annoyed as if he has to return to collect me its 3 hours total

its apparently a minor procedure (cyst has gone bad in chest) but dad as been told before that at 20st plus any surgery is major surgery.

am really upset nobody bthering to even text me

OMaLittle · 12/09/2008 15:14

Hope it's all OK, Peachy.

SalLikesCoffee · 12/09/2008 15:45

Peachy. This is an exception to the no-hugs rule: Hope you find out more soon. Still annoying, but maybe the fact that you haven't heard anything means all is fine? Do they know you know? If not, maybe they didn't want to upset you? It would annoy me too btw.

Peachy · 12/09/2008 15:51

sister 2 called me to tell me this morning

i suspect sister 1 has taken ver as usual, she wont bother telling me anything, she is very bizarre and clingy (eg rather than spending christmas with the only child she can have, every ear he goes off with her dh and she stays at parents- odd)

OMaLittle · 12/09/2008 16:57

Oof. DD2 very difficult today. All over the place. Have had to leave her to cry as need to attend to DD1 - this morning she went to sleep after 5 mins (haven't left her longer than that), and every time I've tried to cuddle/soothe/help her to sleep lately it's taken an hour or more, so now I'm totally torn and wonder if leaving her to cry (like, SCREAM) is actually the best way of helping her sleep? I HATE it, though. No offence to people who can do it, I just can't!

Now, for example, just put her down as she slept badly overnight (lots of big crying fits) and has had two shorter-than-usual naps today (later one a bit late starting as I had taken them both out for lunch [BRAVE emoticon, was good, though, local cafe so £6.50 total!]) - woke at 3.15, just started whingeing so put her down, now seems to have gone down after c. 2 mins of livid screaming.

Right on cue, DD1 up. Bye!

LadyBee · 12/09/2008 18:11

I had moments of wondering the same thing OMa, this morning I watched DS go off to sleep, just sat in the nursery and watched him grizzle and wind down for 6 mins, at 6 mins he gave a more assertive shout which I would normally think, oh he's definitely not going to settle, but instead he closed his eyes just after that. Then at 7 mins he gave a little jump, probably had that jolt/falling thing, and eyes opened but 10 secs later he was in deep sleep.
But I tried to do it again at this afternoon's nap and he just got more and more furious. In the end I picked him up took him to our bed and lay down with him, he started burrowing so I lifted my top and he ended up feeding for 20mins with eyes closed. This is after I had fed him about 30 mins before nap and he came off by himself. I just can't seem to tell whether he's full or hungry or what anymore.

Healthy Sleep book does seem to advocate leaving to cry, but I can't do it either. Ok, I can do it for about 5 mins and only if the crying is intermittant and sounds like it's going to ease. If it starts cycling up I can't make myself leave him. And so far everytime I have gone in and picked him up when he's like that, he'll let out a burp or start burrowing which makes me think, 'well, there was something wrong, what if I'd tried to leave him, he would have been in discomfort or hungry for so much longer' which upsets me and me think I'm right to go to him.

I'm hungry and there is no bread or milk in the house and it's just started raining and I should have started DS's bath by now. I think I'm putting it off because I can't face the final putting to bed. Pleeeease let him go down easy tonight.
