Hello!

Leaky so sorry to hear about the family politics going on, like you say it is MIL who will ultimately miss out. Eva and G sound like they already have a lovely relationship. N's cousin is one year older than him to the day and was born 2 months prematurely. He has hydrocephalus and still cannot walk or hold things with his left hand. It would be all to easy for people to downplay all N's 'firsts' to avoid hurting SILs feelings but luckily that doesn't seem necessary. N can walk but his cousin can talk and is very much his big cousin who always gives him kisses and chats away to him. If anyone felt they had to negatively compare them it would be their loss completely

Good luck with the first day POTC

Thanks for the get well wishes for N, the antibiotics seem to have kicked in already. Yesterday afternoon he had a temp of 39.5 again but last night didn't wake up with a fever for the first time in a week and was fine this morning so hopefully whatever it is, is on its way out.

Off to get a cuppa..

Doobydoo · 03/09/2008 10:10

at IL's Leaky.G and E sound lovely together and I am sure she will gain alot through playing and with him and watching him.G will gain lots too.Your il's have mega issues.Congrats on being April 2009 mum
POTC,good luck with first day.
Mamiguay..hope N continues to perk up.
Luckily ds1 is v good at Maths,as is his dad.I am total pants at it.
DS1 was half asleep last night and worrying about his copy books and being able to get bits of paper neatly into his folderWas v.shouty this morning but i made some suggestions and he calmed down.
Waterford are playing Kilkenny in the All Ireland final on Sunday[hurling]and there are blue and white flags everywhere.Waterford haven't won it for about 90 years.Ds1 said they are spending alot of time singing the Irish national antem and The soldiers Song!
They have Monday off school, prob so parents can nurse their hangovers.
Rainy and windy...NEARLY CHRISTMAS!
Have good day all.and Hi to thoise I missed.x

JellySnakes · 03/09/2008 11:11

Hi all.

POTC, hope M has a good day at school and that he did eventually put his uniform on

Leaky, your IL's sound a bit odd. Is it just because they are not sure how to handle everyone together, and so for their own sakes they try and keep you apart?
G and E sound so lovely together and clearly have a good relationship already.

Mamiguay, hope N continues to improve

Yet more rain here today, I am bloody sick of it. Dh and I are on better terms now, not because he has said anything, but I just think I am wasting my energy getting stressed over it all.

Bramshott · 03/09/2008 11:28

Sympathy about your MIL probs Leaky. Could it be that what she means is that SHE finds it difficult to see G and E together because all the things that he can do make it difficult for her when she realises that E may never do those things?

Back to school here tomorrow! Tell me, am I a bad mother if I just send DD1 in in the taxi as normal? Should I take her in myself as it's the first day of the new year, or will that just unsettle her as I don't normally? I think her friend is going in the taxi as normal, but as his mum is probably having a baby today (oh the excitement ), I'm aware that her plans may change at the last minute!

Bramshott · 03/09/2008 11:35

Oh Lord, the teaching assistant from school just called and somehow bludgeoned me into agreeing to go in and hear reading on a Monday morning AND Friday morning - argghhhh! What have I agreed to?!

Sexonlegs · 03/09/2008 12:30

Hello

POTC, hope day 1 at school is going ok I did have a smile on my face I am ashamed to say at hearing M didn't want his uniform on Sort of thing B decides.

Bramshott, not sure what to suggest re tomorrow. Enjoy the reading listening I have to say I would quite like to do that at B's school.

Mav, glad N seems to be on the mend

Hi Dooby. Hope your ds is having a good day. I am pants at maths too. I never did get algebra - numbers and letters together - what's that all about????

MJ, rain???? Surely not! Glad you are feeling happier.

All ok here. B back to school this morning, and she was a star. Normally she is a pita getting ready, but she was as good as gold and seemed really excited to be going back. I have to say it was really lovely seeing everyone again in the playground this morning.

Dh annoying me a bit. He has said he feels stuck in a rut. Bored with job, bored with coming home and watching TV etc etc. The thing is he keeps wavering re his job and doesn't really know what he wants to do. I have told him he needs to have a long hard think about it and move on. And he seemed quite happy watching TV last night while I did the drudgery of cooking, tidying up etc etc. FFS. Makes me mad. What does he expect. Life is not exciting. We do nice things - we are off to Santander minus the dd's in a couple of weekends time I just think he is wallowing in self pity and not thinking about the lovely thngs we have planned.

Sorry for ranting

Kneehighinnappies · 03/09/2008 13:11

Ok ladies don't get toooooo excited but I just thought I'd head away from fb and pop in here and say 'HI!!!'
it's been too long I know, but I am truly rushed off my feet at the moment, thank god the summer holidays are over!

Hope all of you and your Lo's are doing well, mine are still driving me crazy

Got to go finish making my apple pie before I burn it and then pick up dd1 from play group...
Bye. xxxxx

JellySnakes · 03/09/2008 13:25

Nice to see you KHIN

SOL, life with young children is drudgery isn't it. I find my life so boring lately, and I see no way out for a good while yet!! When F turns 2 she will be going to playgroup for a few hours a week, and then I hope to get a little of my life back. Hope you and dh are ok x

mamiguay · 03/09/2008 13:51

Hi KHIN!

SOL I know what you mean, my dh can be a bit like that sometimes always focussing on the negative('we never have any money to do things') instead of the positive.. it's very frustrating!

Maveta runs out again (and yes I am going to change my name back again as soon as I get around to it seeing as most people still use it anyway!

JellySnakes · 03/09/2008 13:52

Hi maveta!

Sexonlegs · 03/09/2008 14:29

Hi Maveta

Normally dh is pretty upbeat. I think this is post-holiday blues as much as anything. He just needs to get on with job hunting if he isn't happy rather than complaining all the time!

K has been asleep for 2 hours We went to Tumble Zone this morning and I think it must have worn her out. Either that or she is coming down with something! Now I am being negative!!!

POTC · 03/09/2008 17:32

Anyone want to hear a numpty Justin story?

liath · 03/09/2008 18:44

Me! Always in the market for numpty stories!!

Hi KHIN, how's it all going?

I can sort of sympathise with your DH, SOL, being a glass half-empty sort of person myself. I think it must drive my DH potty.

Glad N is perking up, Maveta.

Leaky, sounds all a bit odd with your ILs, like they are a bit lost to what they should be doing or saying.

Good to hear school went well for all those back today. Still 2 years before I have that joy. Dd will be 5.5 before she starts, probably the oldest in her year I expect. Odd to think if I hadn't gone a week overdue with her she'd be starting next year instead.

StealthPolarBear · 03/09/2008 19:40

hi everyone

geordieminx · 03/09/2008 19:46

Liath, are you going to Night Garden tomorrow?

liath · 03/09/2008 20:39

oooggs · 03/09/2008 20:40

5 of us in the caravan was interesting dh shared wioth dd and I was with ds2 with ds1 on the bunk (with a bed guard!)

Weather was crap but we survived and my parents came with us in their trailer tent which was great (for the extra pairs of hands)

I have read through - but not retained much

Doobydoo · 03/09/2008 20:52

oooggs · 03/09/2008 21:02

Sexonlegs · 03/09/2008 21:18

Evening

Ooohh SPB, how exciting!!! Do it do it do it!!!!! I am a tad jealous.

Oooggs, welcome back! Glad you had a good time away. Did you not get iron-on labels you mad thng???

Dooby, enjoy your televisual entertainment

Hi Liath and GM. What's this about Night Garden?

Hope everyone else is ok.

All ok here. B seems ok after her first day back, although knackered and had a bit of a temperature this afternoon. Calpol sorted it.

They have both been lovely again this evening. Really thoughtful and caring; bringing things for each other such as recorders! We seem to have 2 in the house from when I was at school, and K always picks them both up and gives one to B. Can you imagine the noise?????? Can you???????

Had planned to go to aerobics tonight, so left dh in charge of bath/bed and buggered off to Asda and B&Q instead. I need to get a life. Mind you, there is a guy in B&Q who is absolutely gorgeous. Not long-term material, but incredibly shaggable

geordieminx · 03/09/2008 21:20

Ok, just about to jump in bath but will everyone look at my profile pics - 5th pic down and tell me what you think - I have spent 4 days making it

oooggs · 03/09/2008 21:23

its very good gm - am I supposed to know what it is? I recognise it from somewhere

and wow that 1st picture - isn't he looking grown up

sol - no I didn't - I have no idea why not
