Happy Birthday Jabberbaby and Elibaby!

Oooh, made me come over all tearful reading your post Eli and thinking they are all two-year-olds in the next few weeks. Of course its partly the hormones - well thats what I'll tell DH if he walks in but really I'm just coming over all sentimental. They grow up so quick don't they. DD is suddenly a little person and so independent. She has learnt to dress herself this weekend, can't say it is the smoothest dressing ever witnessed but she managed bless her and grinned like a cheshire cat once she'd done it!

Glad you are a bit warmer AoA.

Oh goodness they're not babies anymore!

Happy birthday not-so-little Jabber and Eli
Jnrs!

I've had a few occasions where dd2 puts a pair of dd1s knickers on - over her trousers. She's yet to get it in the right order at least they're going on the right part of the body.

I've heard a few phrases from dd2 which I think are down to luck rather than skill. One of them being "I don't want to go to sleep. " dd2 has been sleeping in my bed for the last few days. She's under the weather, has ulcers and I think she's teething. I've not minded the bed company as DH has been working a nightshift for the last 7 days. She's fallen out of my bed for the last couple of days, it's a bit high. She was a wriggler last night, and if I'd had the energy, I'd have put her back in her own bed. She seems much better today though so I'm hoping to have a better sleep tonight.

No definitely not babies - couldn't think of a better term though!

Right, better go do some work...

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 24/11/2008 13:30

Ah y'alright Lennied. It was an exclaimation to myself. They've grown up overnight it seems.

Quick question on nursing bras... I don't fit my bras anymore and short of wandering around braless for the next couple of months until milk comes in I need to get a temporary bra. Since you can't get cheap ones in my size anyhow (bloomin babies) I think I may as well buy a nursing bra as a maternity one and take my chances on whether it fits or not once baby arrives. Can you sagely ones give me a guess on how many cup sizes bigger I'll need so I can order one that might fit after the birth and hence save me some money.

Have searched main boards and general concensus is don't buy one now! So daren't venture out there - but I need a bra!!!

AnneOfAvonlea · 24/11/2008 14:35

Lennied - what size are you? I have a bagful of maternity & nursing bras ranging from 38D - 42DD.

LenniEd · 24/11/2008 15:29

Thanks AoA - very kind of you to offer, unfortunately right now I'm in a 36G - given I was a 34C/D before getting pg with DD and never went down much really after she was born am expecting to end up somewhere around a 36F-ish once this one arrives and have stopped bf. Ho hum.
Current bras are underwired as bought early on in pg so I think I would be ok with a 36G now if it didn't have wires as the wires hurt more than the cups being too small but am guessing cup size will go up once milk comes in. Last time I didn't feed DD at all so just wore support vests for a few days and then maternity bras until settled down. Such a lovely business being pregnant! I honestly don't know how any of you feel sentimental about it - she says knowing full well she'll feel the same in about a year!

How's the heating? Any progress?

AnneOfAvonlea · 24/11/2008 17:19

You could try a sports bra for a while?

I have been told they will have the part to fix my boiler NEXT Tuesday

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 24/11/2008 17:27

I think I can help Lennied. Do you want to FB your address? They may be a bit careworn but will do the trick.

LenniEd · 24/11/2008 18:26

Ooo, yes will do Margo - thanks so much, that'd be great

AoA - is it British Gas who are fixing your boiler? I would seriously stamp my feet over that whoever it is - am sure they can get a part quicker than that if they really want to and can't leave you and your girls in the cold with no hot water for another week esp not in this cold weather. I'd be having a strop at them and seeing if that got me anywhere! That said, I always say best to be firm but polite when dealing with these people otherwise they tend to be less helpful in the long run. Shall I put some of my irrational-ness to use on them for you?

AnneOfAvonlea · 24/11/2008 19:27

Thanks Lennied. No, its not British Gas. It is a local firm. We've used them for years and they've always been pretty good. I'm going to have a chat with DH about it though. We may go and stay in a hotel over the weekend.

jabberwocky · 24/11/2008 19:44

I feel so out of touch! haven't had time to post in days.

Thanks for the birthday wishes I hope baby eli had a nice one too. Ds2 had a nice little party with a basketball (current obsession) shaped/decorated cake. It looked nice but was rather dry and tasteless

AofA - any heat yet?

AQ - happy belated birthday! It sounds like you enjoyed it.

Indith, when does your dh come back into town? Can you have a word with the baby to just come on out then

LenniEd · 24/11/2008 20:02

Hotel sounds like a good idea AofA ... you could have a weekend somewhere!

Have messaged you Margo.

How lovely to have had a party Jabber, and I'm impressed that basketball is DS2's current obsession, we're trying to get DD to play with a ball but not much uptake. Don't think we'll be doing anything for DD's birthday. A shame really as we didn't celebrate her 1st birthday either as were at a family wedding. Am going to make a real effort next year, unless I come up with anything low key for this one...

castlesintheair · 24/11/2008 21:20

Happy Birthday Jabber's DS2, Elibean's DD2 and AQ.

Moving to a hotel sound's like a good idea AA. Like now!

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 24/11/2008 21:22

I didn't get the email Lennied but I have sent a message via FB.

LenniEd · 24/11/2008 21:27

Have replied Margo - internet crisis intervened.

Night all x

LenniEd · 24/11/2008 21:28

PS - If you all get chatting later, leave a note on the door telling me where you've moved to

Olihan · 24/11/2008 22:07

Shall we move before we get carried away and run out of sapce to put a link?

Olihan · 24/11/2008 22:18

Here we are LenniEd .

I couldn't decide if the apostrophe in the title was right but it looked weird without it. Apologies to any of you with pedantic tendencies if it's wrong!
