Tis a good thing I feel.

Amapoleon · 21/11/2008 22:37

Hola all! It's Lucy5. After months of no internet, I am finally back online!!!!!!!!!!! What have I missed?

Elibean · 21/11/2008 22:43

Well, we're all quaffing L52 (French homeopathic stuff) with varying regularity: dh, who takes it the most sensibly ie daily, possibly has the least colds

I suppose its only dd2 who has endless viruses (this is dd1's first), and the consultants have always said she will catch more than most due to her larynx....infections just get stuck there, and take ages to clear.

She's cheerful and bouncy all day regardless, but nights are horrid. She chokes on mucous, sounds like Darth Vader crossed with a squeaky door, and wakes up gasping at least once a night. I used to like winter

Am at Castles' perennial decs and impressed at Lennied's impending ones: mine tend to come out very late, in order to give dd1's birthday pride of place....tis a good excuse...

AofA, glad your dd's on the mend, sounds like a 24 hr one!

castlesintheair · 21/11/2008 22:44

Hi Amapoleon! Good to see you back. See Margo's post of Wed 19-Nov-08 22:41:37 for a round up

Happy Birthday to You

Amapoleon · 21/11/2008 22:51

Oh Thanks, very concise! Congrats on all the babies.

I can't believe my baby will be 2 in a couple of days. I can honestly say that these have been the fastest 2 years of my life. He is poorly at the moment, some sort of coughy thing. Dd who is nearly 8 is recovering from Glandular fever and has been off school for 3 weeks but thankfully she is getting better. It's just me that is about to have a nervous breakdown

LenniEd · 22/11/2008 11:05

Oh no, I forgot AQs birthday - hope you had a lovely day AQ and got pampered by the DCs and DP.

Oli - DD was born at 6.55am (had to think about that for a moment ) so if your DS2 was born on the 28th and due on the 26th - when was your DD due? If they are true twins I should be able to use your DCs as a labour predictor for this one?!

Sorry Eli - I did prewarn my suggestions would be useless. The poor little thing. If its any consolation whatsoever DH has bad asthma and he can be dreadful in the night with coughing and wheezing but will wake up the next day completely oblivious that any of it has happened so she might be less aware than you are of the nights. I once asked my GP about DH as it was worrying me that he would suffocate or something in his sleep. The poor man doesn't get worried about like that anymore

DD fell out of her bed for the first time last night. Not really sure how she managed it but she was sobbing her little heart out when I went in. And then climbed back into bed and was asleep before I had time to see what was wrong. She really doesn't need us at night anymore - makes me and - it is so strange after having had nearly 2 years of broken nights to have her able to sort herself out. She even arranges all her own pillow and duvet and bears and things now.

DH let me have a lie in this morning and I came down to attempted decorations. OMG, am going to have to get my bum off here now and sort them all out. It looks like some terrible tackfest. Need to change them all before he comes back from the shops and subtely enough not to hurt his feelings!

Hello amapoleon - 2years has flown by here too. Can't believe we will have had 2 pregnancies and 2 babies in this house by the end of Jan. And it feels like yesterday we moved in.

Elibean · 22/11/2008 11:43

Waaah, how did I manage to x-post with everyone last night?! Maybe gremlins here too

Thanks Lennied, that does help a lot actually - I think you're right, she is'nt aware of nearly as much of it as I am. Will think of your dh at 3am when worried Good luck decking the halls

Hola, Ama-Lucy! Waah, glandular fever and a coughy thing, puts my two into perspective. Hope both better soon, and breakdown avoided.

Happy belated birthday AQ, hope it was wonderful and all the LOs ate/slept like textbook angels, and you got pampered wherever possible!

Elibean · 22/11/2008 11:45

Am thinking of moving all our rooms around to make use of new loft (currently spare room/present room/ironing room: major waste) in order to cheer us all up post house-moving fiasco. Was wondering whether to get dd1 a medium high bed thingy. Anyone got one? Are they safe/fun?!

AnneOfAvonlea · 22/11/2008 12:17

Eli - DD1 was a midsleeper and she loves it. It is this one She loves it. I bought cheap so if the novelty wears off it wont be heartbreaking to replace.

AnneOfAvonlea · 22/11/2008 16:08

Ho hum. You're all having interesting weekends aren't you...

Plan to watch Hole in the Wall later on BBc. The girls absolutely love it and DD2 giggles hugely when it is on. I recommend it just to see z list celebs in silver catsuits

Elibean · 22/11/2008 16:26

Thanks AofA, looks good! What age did she start using it?

AnneOfAvonlea · 22/11/2008 16:46

We got it just after her 4th birthday. I wouldnt recommend the matching drawers though. We sent two lots back as the plastic cracked. The plastic on the bed ends is much tougher/stronger though. It seems pretty well made, especially for the money. She is happy and it means she has more play space unlike other midsleepers which have drawers & cupboards. The only downside is changing the sheets as you have to climb up to tuck bits in

Elibean · 22/11/2008 18:39

Ah, that'll be good for me

Thanks, helpful info!

Hope you enjoyed your TV Saturday

AnneOfAvonlea · 22/11/2008 19:35

TV saturday has been fine but our boiler has gone so we have no heating or hot water. It needs a new part and not sure how long that will take. I have to chase on Monday

I could do with a shower

Elibean · 22/11/2008 22:41

of all nights not to have heating or hot water, its freezing! So sorry, hope you can keep warm...

AnneOfAvonlea · 23/11/2008 06:56

Yes it is a bit cold. DD2 has learnt how to open her bedroom door and turned up in my bed at 5.30. Poor thing has been coughing all night.

LenniEd · 23/11/2008 08:34

Oh no, as Eli said of all the days to have no heating... hope you are all snuggled up on the sofa under a duvet. We have a lot of trouble with our heating (oil rayburn, old and goes out a lot) and now have an array of electric heaters for when the heating breaks down - hve you got any or know anyone who has?

Indith · 23/11/2008 20:24

Anne you poor thing, hope you get warm again soon!

AQ really is supermum you know Picture of perfect domesticity. 2 snoozing twins, 2 toddlers (one was mine) and there she is doing science experiments with ds1.

AQ did ds1 manage to catch a few snowflakes today?

There was much snow at my parents', ds was bemused by snowballs but rather liked being tugged up and town the road in a sledge

Baby has dropped. Spend Friday having lots of niggles and pains and things, was fine Saturday until the evening and have been bloody uncomfortable since. Top of bump feels empty, has def gone down and now I just feel semi sick and periody, really can't bend down and really want this baby out! Course I am only 36 weeks and dh has gone off again to travel the world or whatever he does so it'll have to stay in a bit longer.

OP posts:
Olihan · 23/11/2008 21:07

LenniEd, it's DS1 who's also Xmas - he was due Christmas day but finally arrived on New Year's Eve. (You don't want to know about Dd - she was the full 14 days late and was induced!)

Indith - 36 weeks already , my word. PGs seem to go much faster in the virtual world - misdee, expat, MamaG only seemed to announce their pgs then they had babies a few weeks later. AQ's seemed to fly too. MN operates at warp speed I reckon.

AoA, hope you're not too cold tonight. Poor you - we had the same happen last year so I'm sending lots of and sympathy.

Hello Lucy/Ama, hope the dcs are better soon - poor DD, glandular fever is rotten.

Indith · 23/11/2008 21:42

Where is the warp speed button? I'd like to use it please!

OP posts:
accessorizequeen · 23/11/2008 21:44

I can't say that it felt as though my pg flew past, Lennied, I must say! Is ds still staying head down?

Indith, I think you missed the note of rising panic in my voice and of course ds3 only snoozing because you cuddled him most of the time! DS1 & 2 got to go sledging on the Westwood with dp this morning, they were v.happy boys! I stayed at home and tried to figure out how to wrap a Hug a Bub from you tube (failed, ds3 fell asleep on me whilst I was watching the video, sigh). Forgot to say what a lovely bump you have for 36 weeks, you ought to put a photo on fb, I looked like I'd swallowed a basket of puppies by that point (all 3 times!)

I had a lovely birthday weekend really, thanks all. I had naps, that was actually the best bit, so many people round to mind the kids.Got loads of lovely presents including posh moisturiser for my rapidly ageing face

AoA I do hope the boiler will be fixed v.v.soon!

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 23/11/2008 22:02

Poor you AofA. You have my sympathy. You don't realise how cold your house gets wwithout heating.

Elibean · 23/11/2008 23:00

We had boiler problems when dd1 was about to be born, and when dd2 was about to be born, and it was freeeeeezing both times: really hope you're tucked up AofA and good luck getting it fixed tomorrow!

Indith, wow, somehow that baby-has-dropped post made it feel very real that you're very, very pregnant and about to be a mother of two. I know pregnancy speeds past to those of us who aren't doing it, and I remember quite clearly how it crawled past (at the end) for me when I was, so and sympathies all at the same time, and a wodge of because it really is very exciting too

I wish I lived near enough for dds to play in the snow (as opposed to ten flakes of wet sleet) with your ds, and AQs brood!

Happy Birthday Jabber's ds

Mound of pressies hidden for dd2 tomorrow, and three toddlers and their big sisters coming for tea, and one very very excited toddler asleep (noisily) in next room.

AnneOfAvonlea · 24/11/2008 07:38

Happy Birthday to Boy Jabber and Girl Bean

Hope they both have/had lovely days.

Not so bad here now as we have a gas heater from a neighbour but it is the hot water I am missing most. We have a combi boiler so when it goes we lose all heat including hot water.
